Transcript
- Mike Bates: Then we have the War Powers Act of 1973. And the War Powers Act says that the can commit U.S. troops provided he informed Congress within 48 hours. And then Congress can vote of whether or not to continue funding it. And if they don't, he has to remove them in 60 days. And there's an automatic extension, so it's really 90 days, but he's got 90 days that he can act without congressional approval. Well, here's the problem there. The War Powers Act is most likely unconstitutional, and is mostly unconstitutional not on the of the to commit U.S. troops to conflict, but rather on Congress's ability to withdraw funding from it within that 60-day window. Now, it's never been tested in court, so we really don't know. Greg Fink: Exactly.
