- 0:00When a person wants to assume a new identity, we have to ask why
- 0:04is that? The new identity is a solution
- 0:08and we have to discover to what is it a solution?
- 0:12Because no one can change their sex.
- 0:14Sex is determined at conception. Hey everybody, Welcome back to
- 0:22the Lila Rose Podcast. Today I'll be interviewing Dr.
- 0:25Miriam Grossman, who's a board certified child and adolescent
- 0:29psychiatrist. She's written several books,
- 0:32including the forthcoming book Lost in Transnation, which is
- 0:37her guidebook for parents in today's world that is beset with
- 0:41gender ideology and the narrative that is taking hold of
- 0:44many children today about how they should and can be
- 0:48transgendered. Dr. Marian Grossman, someone
- 0:51I've I've actually known for over a decade and a half.
- 0:53I met her as a college freshman at UCLA.
- 0:57At the time, she had just come out with her first book, which
- 1:00is called Unprotected. A campus psychiatrist reveals
- 1:04how political correctness in her profession endangers every
- 1:08student. Now, she wrote this book and she
- 1:11talked in this book about the hookup culture.
- 1:14She talked about sexual education and its harm, the way
- 1:17that it is harming children and the way it's done today,
- 1:19especially promoted by groups like Planned Parenthood where
- 1:22it's sexualizing children, encouraging early sexual
- 1:25activity. She talked about the harm of all
- 1:27of that. But at the time, 15 years ago,
- 1:29Doctor Grossman published her book as anonymous MD.
- 1:33She did not put her name on the book because at the time there
- 1:37would have been so much heat on her for in any way criticizing
- 1:41Planned Parenthood and some of the major players in the sexual
- 1:45education space. Now, in a way, Dr. Grossman was
- 1:48a prophet because her early criticisms about the
- 1:51sexualization of young children, about the early gender ideology
- 1:55that was already being pushed on children, that were telling
- 1:58children that their identity was not connected to their biology,
- 2:02their body, but that their identity was whatever they
- 2:04thought or was in their mind, was very important.
- 2:07I mean, her early work shows us in many ways the logical
- 2:12conclusion of where gender ideology and the wrong sexology
- 2:15takes us and takes our society. Later, Doctor Grossman would put
- 2:21her name on that book, and now it's published under her name,
- 2:24Doctor Miriam Grossman. But at the time, it was so
- 2:27sensitive. I remember meeting with her as a
- 2:29college freshman, having read her book and found out that it
- 2:32was really her behind it. She was actually working at UCLA
- 2:35at the time, so it was a bit providential.
- 2:37And I asked her, can I interview you publicly on this?
- 2:40Because your voice as one of the lone voices, a child
- 2:44psychiatrist speaking out against the harm of early
- 2:46sexualization of children and how today's sex that is doing
- 2:49this is so important. And at the time, she chose to
- 2:52remain anonymous for a period. Now Doctor Grossman is out and
- 2:57about speaking loudly about the harm of sexualization of young
- 3:01children and the harm of the new transgender ideology that is
- 3:05just taking over in this country and globally and harming a whole
- 3:09generation of children. So today we're going to focus
- 3:12more on Doctor Grossman's upcoming book, Lost in
- 3:15Transnation. Talk about why she wrote this
- 3:17book. What you can do as a parent or
- 3:20just as a responsible adult who might have children in your life
- 3:24who are struggling with this, or school systems or therapists who
- 3:29are pushing gender ideology on your kids and what you can do
- 3:32proactively to protect children. But before we get in today's

- 4:30yet with your work, Doctor Grossman, give us a quick
- 4:33background. Well, sure.
- 4:36I'm a board certified child, adolescent and adult
- 4:41psychiatrist. I'm a medical doctor, went to
- 4:43medical school. I also did some training in
- 4:46Pediatrics. I worked for many years at UCLA
- 4:52Student Counseling Center with UCLA students, and there I
- 4:58became aware of the infiltration into my profession of political
- 5:06and social ideology. And I recognized how harmful
- 5:11that is in many instances to my my young patients, especially
- 5:17young women. They were coming in, so many of
- 5:20them with sexually transmitted infections, you know, pregnancy
- 5:25concern, having one or more abortions, and they were really
- 5:30suffering. I started to look into what
- 5:33young people are taught about their sexuality.
- 5:37I discovered that it was not at all about health.
- 5:41It was about freedom, it was about basically going out and
- 5:46doing whatever you chose to do at the moment.
- 5:51And that of course, is a dangerous philosophy to have in
- 5:54terms of your physical and mental health.
- 5:58So the, the way that I got into the transgender issue was in the
- 6:02midst of studying plan what Planned Parenthood and Sekis and
- 6:06these different organizations are telling young people.
- 6:10I discovered to my utter astonishment that all the way
- 6:14back in, in the 2000s, you know, 15 / 15 years ago, even 20 years
- 6:21ago, kids were being told that they can have an identity that
- 6:26is completely separate from their biology.
- 6:31And that that is part of normal human, the human experience, so
- 6:37to speak. That it is not a disorder if you
- 6:41are so uncomfortable with your sex body that you actually want
- 6:46to have normal organs removed. And you can imagine, as a child
- 6:53psychiatrist, I was very alarmed to see this was happening.
- 6:59Frankly, I just, I just, I just couldn't believe it.
- 7:02You don't want to be exposing young children to these bizarre
- 7:07ideas about being born in the wrong body and about needing to
- 7:11have your body medically altered, permanently altered,
- 7:15and sometimes sterilized in order to bring it into into what
- 7:20they call alignment with your mind.
- 7:23So these are all bizarre ideas. Sadly enough, these days they're
- 7:28no longer considered bizarre. They're considered truth.
- 7:32They are not truth. They are not based in any
- 7:36medical foundation. And a few years ago, I began
- 7:41seeing gender confused or gender distressed young people and
- 7:47their parents. And I'll tell you, Lila, the the
- 7:54devastation from all this and the suffering on so many levels
- 7:58from all this is so massive and so huge that I felt that I, I
- 8:06really, I have to write another book and I have to warn parents
- 8:11before it hits their home. OK, so before you're sitting at
- 8:15the dinner table and your son says I have something to tell
- 8:19you, I'm actually a girl. I want to be called by this
- 8:23name. I want to be called she, her.
- 8:25And I want to have my puberty blocked.
- 8:28So I need for you to take me to a gender clinic.
- 8:30So this most parents are blindsided by this announcement.
- 8:36I've talked to hundreds of parents so they don't know what
- 8:39to do. They go to a gender clinic and
- 8:41then they're blindsided once again when the so-called gender
- 8:46expert just puts your puts the child in the driver's seat and
- 8:52says to the parents, well, if your son thinks that he's a
- 8:56girl, then you just have to embrace him as a girl.
- 9:00And if you are unable to do that, well, then you are the
- 9:04problem. I was interviewing Chloe Cole
- 9:08recently, who I know, you know, who is just an incredible
- 9:11detransitioner, had the double mastectomy at age 15 here in
- 9:14California. And she was sharing how her
- 9:16parents were basically threatened that, that, that
- 9:20typical line that you're, we're hearing all over the place.
- 9:22You know, do you want a, a dead daughter or do you want to, you
- 9:26know, a dead child or do you want an alive son?
- 9:28Because Chloe was having gender dysphoria.
- 9:30I thought she was a boy. And you know, you talk about
- 9:33this in your book. So this is the, the other side
- 9:36of the story that's not being shared is the, the impact on a
- 9:39whole generation of parents today who are being told they
- 9:43cannot protect their child. And in fact, it would be wrong
- 9:46for them to in any way inter intervene with this constant
- 9:50quote UN quote affirmation. Talk a little bit more about
- 9:53what parents are facing today and, and what they're going
- 9:56through, especially when they're caught up in the, in the system,
- 10:00the medical system that says it's wrong to treat gender
- 10:02dysphoria. You have to actually transition
- 10:04the kids. Correct.
- 10:05So this is the impossible situation that parents are put
- 10:10in by quote UN quote, gender affirming care by gender
- 10:16experts, gender clinics. And not only them, but, you
- 10:20know, they're, they're pediatricians and the
- 10:22endocrinologist and our politicians, so many of them and
- 10:26our president, you know, they're hearing it from every corner
- 10:30that if they don't affirms, quote UN quote, their child,
- 10:34their child might commit suicide and it'll be because of their
- 10:39lack of affirmation. Now, you know, that is just an
- 10:43impossible position to be put in because a parent knows whether
- 10:48they have a son or a daughter. And so they're being told to to
- 10:54ignore their their gut feelings, to ignore what they've known for
- 10:59all those years that the child, even before the child was born,
- 11:03they might have been aware whether they're having a boy or
- 11:06a girl. And suddenly they're supposed to
- 11:08deny all of that and put their seal of approval on this new
- 11:14identity, which does not feel right at all.
- 11:18The parents know the child. The parents know that the child
- 11:21has many comorbid conditions such as anxiety, depression.
- 11:28A lot of these kids are autistic.
- 11:31And the parents want to say, well, hold on a minute.
- 11:35You know, just a minute here. You know this.
- 11:37This child has had ongoing issues.
- 11:39Shouldn't we look at that? Should we look at the fact that
- 11:42during COVID, she or he was isolated and depressed and just
- 11:47on, you know, on YouTube 24/7 watching these transitioner
- 11:53influencers? And don't you think we need to
- 11:55just go slowly and look at stuff that's happening in the family?
- 11:59I mean, basically the parents are saying, shouldn't we just do
- 12:02a normal psychiatric evaluation on this child?
- 12:07Shouldn't we take our time and get to know this child and what
- 12:12their life is all about and why they might possibly be choosing
- 12:18to, to, to, to have this, this new persona?
- 12:24You see, when a person wants to assume a new identity, we have
- 12:32to ask why is that? The new identity is a solution
- 12:38and we have to discover through getting to know the child and
- 12:42the family to what is it a solution?
- 12:46Because no one can change their sex.
- 12:50Sex is determined at at conception.
- 12:54It is not, you know, we're hearing all the time now, all
- 12:58the time, you know, sex assigned at birth.
- 13:02No, sex is not assigned at birth.
- 13:06Sex is established permanently at conception.
- 13:12So kids are being told from a very early age that they may,
- 13:16they may have been told they're a boy or a girl by mistake.
- 13:20That may have been an error. OK, so just back to the parents.
- 13:25The parents are in an impossible position.
- 13:28They're terrified that they could lose their child.
- 13:32So of course they're going to go along with whatever the
- 13:35so-called experts tell them to do.
- 13:38But then as they go down that road, many of them discover that
- 13:42their child is just getting worse and worse.
- 13:45And that that, you know, the child is moving toward
- 13:48medicalization, the puberty blockers, cross sex hormones.
- 13:53And, you know, it's, it's really a dangerous path.
- 13:58And that is why I wrote this book.
- 14:00I want parents to have the information and the tools that
- 14:05they need to prevent this from ever entering their home, from
- 14:10ever getting a hold on their child's mind.
- 14:14They have to reach the child first.
- 14:19We're seeing, we're seeing like in states like California,
- 14:22there's even legislation that is being considered that would
- 14:27penalize parents for refusing to go along with the radical
- 14:32affirmation path that gender ideologues are are insisting on.
- 14:36What's your what's your take on that disturbing trend?
- 14:39I mean, this is already happening in places like Canada,
- 14:42but it seems to be creeping into the United States too.
- 14:45Oh, absolutely. It's it's not only creeping it,
- 14:48it's, it's here. I mean, I have stories in my
- 14:50book of wonderful, loving, devoted parents who were found
- 14:58guilty by the state of what they call abuse and medical neglect
- 15:05by refusing to go along with the narrative, refusing to consider
- 15:10their son, their daughter, refusing to agree to give their
- 15:16daughter testosterone. And they experienced, you know,
- 15:20the the ultimate catastrophe, which is to have your child
- 15:25forcibly removed from your home and placed with another family.
- 15:30And then that family goes ahead and medicalizes your child
- 15:34against your wishes. This is happening in our
- 15:37country. People should not think that
- 15:39it's, it's not happening. It is happening.
- 15:42I've I've met the parents to whom this has happened.
- 15:46What's the recourse? What recourse do parents have?
- 15:49You know, well, once it's, it's, it's far along, as far along as
- 15:55that. They do still have recourse.
- 15:57There are excellent lawyers that represent parents and can help
- 16:02them out of this disaster. And I, and I tell some of those
- 16:06stories and I have, I have two appendices in my book written by
- 16:13attorneys that are specialists in this area of transgenderism
- 16:17and what's happening to families. 1 is about schools and
- 16:211 is about Child Protective Services, How to know your
- 16:25rights. But you see, Lila, I want
- 16:28parents to know all this stuff before it hits them.
- 16:31OK. That's the best thing to be
- 16:34educated beforehand. You can put the school on
- 16:37notice. This is before anything goes
- 16:41haywire at the school, before you find out that your daughter
- 16:44is using the boys bathroom. You, you put the school on
- 16:49notice in advance that we are not, we do not allow this.
- 16:54We have, we know our constitutional rights and we do
- 16:58not permit any transitioning, social transitioning of any sort
- 17:04of our child. So you know, you and
- 17:09furthermore, we do not want our child being told about gender
- 17:13ideology. We don't want our child, we
- 17:15don't permit our child to join, you know, these clubs that exist
- 17:20in which this ideology is promoted.
- 17:23We do not permit all those things.
- 17:25So I have the forms there, I have links, I have a, you know,
- 17:30in depth explanation of what you need to do to protect your kids
- 17:33before anything happens. In terms of the families that
- 17:37are already in this terrible situation, there's also a lot of
- 17:41support that they can get from other families who have been
- 17:45there, from the many groups that now exist.
- 17:49You know, we're in a better situation even that we were a
- 17:52year ago or two years ago when families were really, really at
- 17:56a loss of where do they get information, where do they get
- 18:00support? And that's why, well, you know,
- 18:04I'll, I'll mention one other thing and that is my profession,
- 18:08the psychiatric profession, that psychological profession, the
- 18:12entire mental health profession has just simply abandoned
- 18:16families and abandoned parents. And they have signed on to this
- 18:21narrative hook, line and sinker. And what you know, when parents
- 18:26are distraught over the situation with their child and
- 18:30they want to speak to someone about it, unless they find they
- 18:34carefully are able to find the the right therapist who's going
- 18:38to support their position, their gender critical position.
- 18:43If they don't, if they go to a, an affirming or, or just a, you
- 18:49know, someone who's going along with the narrative of their
- 18:54professional organization, they're going to blame that
- 18:57parent and they're going to say you are the problem.
- 19:00Mom and dad, you better get with the program.
- 19:03You're transphobic, you are harming your child.
- 19:07Your your home is not safe. So that's another trauma on top
- 19:14of the trauma of having, of seeing your child, you know,
- 19:17become convinced of this, of this, this impossibility of
- 19:23being the opposite sex. I'm so excited to share about a
- 19:26new brand that you need to know about called Every Life.
- 19:30If you're a parent or if you know little ones that use
- 19:32diapers, you need to know about Every Life.
- 19:34Every Life is the first pro-life diaper company in America that
- 19:38has the best diapers, just as good as any other brand that
- 19:41you're probably using, except the brands that you're using
- 19:43typically are Pro Abortion. Every Life though, is a pro-life
- 19:46brand that gives a percentage of its profits to pro-life
- 19:49organizations like your own pro-life Group Live Action.
- 19:52Every Life diapers are best in quality.
- 19:54They're toxic free, they're created and designed to be safe
- 19:57for your baby, and they're awesome.
- 19:59So check out every life com make your first diaper order and use
- 20:02the code Lila at checkout for 10% off your order.
- 20:05How do parents find, let's say they're facing a situation where
- 20:08their child there seems to be exhibiting distress and maybe
- 20:12something that they believe could be gender dysphoria or
- 20:15discomfort with their body. And so they're they're looking
- 20:18for help and maybe they're in a public school or maybe they're
- 20:21not. I mean, some of these parents
- 20:22and families aren't going to be, you know, maybe they've avoided
- 20:25schools that they feel would be would weaponize, you know,
- 20:28gender ideology against their kids, but they're still worried
- 20:31about their child. But they're also worried where
- 20:34they can go to for like you just said, there's so many therapists
- 20:38today that are, you know, that are part of the narrative.
- 20:42So what? What is your advice to find good
- 20:45care for children who are struggling with this or maybe
- 20:48struggling with this? So I have a list of fantastic
- 20:51resources on my website, whichismiriamgrossmanmd.com.
- 20:57There's a list of there's one of the tabs there that says
- 21:00resources. And you know, I have a large
- 21:04number. It's it's not completely, you
- 21:07know, it doesn't include every single organization or every
- 21:09single place, but it does include a lot of them.
- 21:12The ones that I highly recommend are there and parents should not
- 21:16at all despair. There's a lot of help out there.
- 21:20There's a look there is it may be difficult to find somebody
- 21:23because since this is now at epidemic levels, therapists like
- 21:27myself have, you know, we're just, we're just flooded,
- 21:32flooded with families that are begging us to to help out.
- 21:36But there are everyday more and more therapists and there are
- 21:40organizations that have lists of these therapists who are
- 21:44available. And so I would recommend that
- 21:47they go there if the families feel comfortable going to
- 21:52through their church or, or well, you have to be careful.
- 21:56You have to be careful with that as well because a lot of the,
- 22:01you know, communities of faith have also gone along with this
- 22:05very, very unscientific and dangerous.
- 22:12I like to call it a belief system.
- 22:14OK, It's, it's a belief system. It has its own language.
- 22:18It has its own lexicon with words like, you know, cisgender
- 22:25and pansexual and, you know, non binary.
- 22:29These are parents have to understand that even though the
- 22:32the kids are using them left and right and they're even to be
- 22:35found on, you know, websites. The the American Academy of
- 22:39Pediatrics is totally with all this new language that is that
- 22:44is not based in anything scientific or medical.
- 22:48We are all, aside from point O, 2% of individuals who might have
- 22:53some sort of a chromosomal abnormality or a endocrine
- 22:58abnormality. We are all clearly male or
- 23:02female. Like I said earlier, established
- 23:05at conception, permanent only male or female.
- 23:10We cannot change our sex. We can try to appear as the
- 23:16other sex, but not without paying a price.
- 23:19A very steep price. You mentioned that there is
- 23:23hope, and that's what your whole book is about.
- 23:25It's a manual of sorts for parents.
- 23:27And to give that hope, despite the reality of what we're
- 23:30facing, to prepare people to, you know, have the preparation
- 23:34is the best strategy sometimes. But, you know, before the crisis
- 23:38hits, as you said earlier, what's the story of hope?
- 23:40I know we've just got a few more minutes here, but have you seen
- 23:43turnarounds, you know, where parents got engaged, they were
- 23:46equipped earlier on and they were able to prevent, you know,
- 23:51that future disaster of getting estranged from their child or
- 23:54their child seeking medicalization and, and
- 23:56transition and all the horrors that come with that.
- 23:59And anything that you can, you know, parting story, you can
- 24:02share of what how to do this right when when facing with a
- 24:06faced with a challenge instead of getting caught up in the
- 24:08madness. Oh, certainly there's a way out.
- 24:11And certainly I have seen kids, even kids that get deeply into
- 24:15it can be brought out. So, you know, one patient that I
- 24:20had got into this, you know, during COVID and she was
- 24:26already, you know, a kid with different psychological issues.
- 24:34She felt isolated from other kids, went through a very
- 24:38difficult, traumatic romantic breakup.
- 24:41Then COVID hit. She was online, you know, 24/7.
- 24:47She was on Discord, very popular place for these kids to go.
- 24:55She met a bunch of other girls, some of whom were identifying as
- 25:00boys on blockers, on testosterone.
- 25:04These kids heavily, heavily influenced her.
- 25:07This is a social contagion, OK, So our kids are picking up these
- 25:12ideas and these behaviors from other places, from other their
- 25:17friends, either online or in real life.
- 25:20So this particular girl became very, very influenced by these
- 25:24other girls. She began changing, withdrawing
- 25:29from her family, withdrawing from her old friends.
- 25:33The long and short of it was that she one day came to her
- 25:37parents and told them that she's a boy, she wants to be placed on
- 25:41blockers. The parents were were shocked,
- 25:46didn't know what to do, took her to a gender clinic.
- 25:49First question at the gender clinic, what are your pronouns?
- 25:53What's your name? What are your pronouns?
- 25:55Parents just were aghast. So like, what are you doing?
- 26:00Very first visit? Do you want a live son or a dead
- 26:05daughter? Just just like you said, Lila,
- 26:08very first visit, Parents, you need to get on board.
- 26:11You don't have a daughter, you have a son.
- 26:14The parents are just going, what the heck?
- 26:18They got up and they walked out, walked out.
- 26:25They, they found me. I got involved.
- 26:28We had to, you know, there was a lot of work to do.
- 26:33You know, I had to, we had to get the, the, this girl off of,
- 26:38of the Internet. And there's, by the way, in my
- 26:41book, I have another appendix written by an expert on getting
- 26:46control of your kids Internet use and monitoring it.
- 26:50This is mandatory because they're getting fed all this
- 26:55misinformation and they're they're making contacts with
- 26:59these other kids and some of them might be adults posing as
- 27:03kids that are grooming them. Anyway, Lila, I know we only
- 27:08have another 2 minutes, but this girl, OK, I put her on some
- 27:12medication because I saw after a while that her anxiety and
- 27:16depression was really needed to be treated.
- 27:19She began to do better. She began to realize that these
- 27:23relationships that she had with the girls on Discord were not
- 27:27healthy relationships. These were not healthy girls.
- 27:33You know, her parents brought her back into the family, you
- 27:39know, brought her back into, you know, spending her time in more
- 27:43healthy ways. Oh, they got her a puppy.
- 27:47OK. So she, she was responsible for
- 27:49the puppy and had to take the puppy out and got, you know, she
- 27:52got away from her devices and slowly she, she got back to
- 27:57herself. And so that it, it definitely
- 28:00happens. That's not the only case I've
- 28:03seen. There's many cases of kids
- 28:06desisting. It can be difficult.
- 28:09That's why you want to, you know, nip this in the butt.
- 28:12You want to prevent it from happening in the first place.
- 28:17It is such a tough time for parents today.
- 28:19It's a wild world out there and for kids, your work is so
- 28:22important. Doctor Grossman, thank you.
- 28:24Where can people follow your work and find your book?
- 28:27All right, so my book Lost in Transnation. 2 words Trans and
- 28:32Nation, A child psychiatrist guide out of the madness.

- 29:00I'm I'm really just trying my best.
- 29:03I'm putting my heart and soul into this because I have seen
- 29:06too much devastation, too much alienation, and we have to get
- 29:12through this. But but you need to be smart.
- 29:15You need to realize no family is immune and you need to be
- 29:19prepared. Thank you, Doctor Grossman,
- 29:22let's do this again. Hopefully we can get you out
- 29:23here in California and keep up the great work.
- 29:25And very excited to have your book shared with our listeners
- 29:29here. I'm sure it will benefit them.
- 29:31Thank you so much. Thank you, Lila.
- 29:33Bye.
