- 0:01Speaker 1: Donald Trump promised all Americans, no matter where you lived,
- 0:04Speaker 1: even in a liberal city, that he was going to
- 0:07Speaker 1: do everything in his power to keep you safe. He
- 0:10Speaker 1: also said he was going to crack down on drugs, cartels,
- 0:13Speaker 1: naming them terrorists organizations, and stopping the flow of illegal
- 0:17Speaker 1: immigrants across the southern border. Well, the president is making
- 0:21Speaker 1: good on all of those promises, and now there's a
- 0:24Speaker 1: new one, and it's making liberals lose their mind. The
- 0:28Speaker 1: President invokes section seven forty of the District of Columbia
- 0:33Speaker 1: Home Rule Act, allowing him to take over the Metropolitan
- 0:37Speaker 1: Police Department and deploy the National Guard under declaration of
- 0:42Speaker 1: a public safety emergency. Democrats, of course, are angry that
- 0:47Speaker 1: the president United States of America may actually save lives,
- 0:50Speaker 1: get drugs off the streets, and restore law and order
- 0:53Speaker 1: to our nation's capital. So what are they doing. They're saying,
- 0:56Speaker 1: this is what a dictator and a tyrant would do. Yes,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Democrats are so unhinged now they're claiming that as the
- 1:03Speaker 1: President's trying to save lives, that he's somehow a dictator. Now,
- 1:08Speaker 1: the scale of the deployment will be up to eight
- 1:11Speaker 1: hundred National Guard troops and around five hundred federal law
- 1:15Speaker 1: enforcement personnel, including over one hundred FBI agents, plus members
- 1:20Speaker 1: from the DEA, the ATF, ICE, and US marshals. They're
- 1:25Speaker 1: all being deployed to patrol the streets in Washington, d C.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Trump's justification very simple. He described the city as descending
- 1:34Speaker 1: into chaos, using words like bloodshed to frame the intervention
- 1:38Speaker 1: as a liberation day. He warned similar federal actions could
- 1:44Speaker 1: extend to other big cities, such as New York and
- 1:47Speaker 1: Los Angeles. Now, what does the crime data show? It
- 1:51Speaker 1: actually shows, thank goodness, that violent crime across the country
- 1:54Speaker 1: is coming down. Why because the present's backing law enforcement
- 1:58Speaker 1: and allowing them to do their job up and we're
- 2:00Speaker 1: also witnessing ICE agents taking hardened criminals off the streets
- 2:04Speaker 1: that are in the country illegally. This is exactly why
- 2:08Speaker 1: the president is having such success. Now, local responses are
- 2:13Speaker 1: obviously different depending on if you're a Democrat or Republican.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Mayor Bowser condemned the move as quote unsettling in DC
- 2:22Speaker 1: and unprecedented, asserting the city doesn't meet legal criteria she
- 2:26Speaker 1: claims for a federal emergency. Yes, she cares more about
- 2:30Speaker 1: playing politics than saving lives. She puts instead for more
- 2:34Speaker 1: judicial resources and staffing. Again, bureaucracy over policing. DC's Attorney
- 2:41Speaker 1: General is exploring legal options. They're saying as well, and
- 2:44Speaker 1: the DC City Council members called the move an intrusion
- 2:48Speaker 1: on local authority quote unquote, this is all politics for
- 2:53Speaker 1: them instead of actually protecting Americans. I want you to
- 2:56Speaker 1: hear what the President had to say as he announces
- 2:59Speaker 1: to the White House in his own words.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our nation's capital
- 3:06Speaker 2: from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor and worse. This is
- 3:12Speaker 2: Liberation Day in DC, and we're going to take our
- 3:16Speaker 2: capital back. We're taking it back under the authorities vested
- 3:21Speaker 2: in me as the President of the United States. I'm
- 3:23Speaker 2: officially invoking Section seventy forty of the District of Columbia
- 3:28Speaker 2: Home Rule Act. You know what that is, and placing
- 3:31Speaker 2: the DC Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control. And
- 3:36Speaker 2: you'll be meeting the people that will be directly involved
- 3:40Speaker 2: with that. Very good people, but they're tough and they
- 3:46Speaker 2: know what's happening, and they've done it before. In addition,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I'm deploying the National Guard to help re establish law
- 3:53Speaker 2: order of public safety in Washington, d C. And they're
- 3:57Speaker 2: going to be allowed to do their job properly.
- 4:00Speaker 1: They're going to be allowed to do their job properly.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That is the core point of what President Trump has
- 4:05Speaker 1: been saying over and over again when it comes to
- 4:08Speaker 1: law enforcement. Let law enforcement officers do their jobs the
- 4:14Speaker 1: right way. Now, how do we get to this point? Well,
- 4:17Speaker 1: the President also talked about the radicals in DC, for example,
- 4:20Speaker 1: having no cash bail, and it's putting people's lives at risk.
- 4:24Speaker 2: This dire public safety crisis stem is directly from the
- 4:29Speaker 2: abject failures of the city's local leadership. The radical left
- 4:34Speaker 2: city Council adopted no cash bail. By the way, every
- 4:38Speaker 2: place in the country where you have no cash bail
- 4:41Speaker 2: is a disaster. That's what started the problem in New York,
- 4:43Speaker 2: and they don't change it. They don't want to change it.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's what started it in Chicago. I mean, bad politicians
- 4:51Speaker 2: started and bad leadership started it. But that was the
- 4:54Speaker 2: one thing that's central, no cash bail. Somebody murders somebody
- 4:58Speaker 2: and they're out on no cash bail before the day
- 5:01Speaker 2: is out. We're going to end that in Chicago. We're
- 5:05Speaker 2: going to change the statute. I spoke with Pam and
- 5:09Speaker 2: Todd and everybody. We're going to change the statue. And
- 5:11Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to get the Republicans of oh because
- 5:14Speaker 2: the Democrats are week on crime, totally, week on.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Crime, totally, week on crime. The stats say he's absolutely accurate,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and the President of United States of America saying, this
- 5:26Speaker 1: is our moment to shine, to take back our nation's capital,
- 5:30Speaker 1: and we're not going to allow Democrats to hold us
- 5:32Speaker 1: hostage any longer. Ag BONDI also saying this about what's
- 5:37Speaker 1: happening in DC.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Let me be crystal clear. Crime in d C is
- 5:41Speaker 3: ending and ending today. We are going to use every
- 5:45Speaker 3: power we have to fight criminals here. President, thank you
- 5:48Speaker 3: for caring about our capital. Families come here every summer.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Our museums are free. We have the National Zoo, we
- 5:57Speaker 3: have the National Gallery. There should be a place where
- 6:01Speaker 3: everyone can come and feel safe.
- 6:04Speaker 1: It's all about safety. That is the present's number one
- 6:08Speaker 1: priority for all Americans, and yet Democrats are doing everything
- 6:13Speaker 1: they can to try to stop the President from accomplishing
- 6:16Speaker 1: this goal. Donald Trump also saying this as well about
- 6:20Speaker 1: what's happening in DC.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Becoming a situation of complete and total lawlessness. And we're
- 6:27Speaker 2: getting rid of the slums too. We have slums here,
- 6:29Speaker 2: we're getting rid of them. I know it's not politically correct,
- 6:32Speaker 2: you'll say, oh, so terrible. No, we're getting rid of
- 6:35Speaker 2: the slums where they live.
- 6:38Speaker 1: We're getting rid of the slums. Now. You listen also
- 6:41Speaker 1: to something else on this Liberation Day, and that is
- 6:44Speaker 1: again the President saying we're taking our capital back. The
- 6:47Speaker 1: man who's in charge of the Department of Defense, Pete Headseth,
- 6:50Speaker 1: went on Laura Ingrams Show, and this is what he
- 6:53Speaker 1: had to say about what the President has ordered him
- 6:56Speaker 1: to do.
- 6:57Speaker 4: This capital belongs to all Americans, and starting now, we're
- 7:01Speaker 4: taking it back. And that's the angle. Secretary of Defense,
- 7:05Speaker 4: Pete Hegseth, was given the tall order of handling this
- 7:08Speaker 4: and he's here with me exclusively. Mister Secretary, thank you
- 7:10Speaker 4: for joining us tonight. So the President called this a
- 7:14Speaker 4: public safety emergency, and you said, we're going to start
- 7:17Speaker 4: seeing the National Guard this week, tell us.
- 7:20Speaker 5: More this week and incoming weeks, and we're going to
- 7:23Speaker 5: work right alongside our law enforcement partners as force multipliers.
- 7:28Speaker 5: This is what the American people voted for Laura. This
- 7:30Speaker 5: is what the common sense clarity strength. I hadn't heard
- 7:33Speaker 5: that story from President Trump before the story he told
- 7:35Speaker 5: about his father that he told them, hey, son, if
- 7:38Speaker 5: you look at the front door of a restaurant and
- 7:40Speaker 5: it's dirty, then I bet the kitchen you can count
- 7:43Speaker 5: on the fact that the kitchen is too And sat
- 7:44Speaker 5: there thinking that's exactly right. If our capital city is
- 7:47Speaker 5: a mess, if we can't control our capital city, then
- 7:50Speaker 5: what does the rest of the country look like and
- 7:52Speaker 5: what signals does the rest of the country take from that? So,
- 7:54Speaker 5: just like we did in Los Angeles, alongside our federal
- 7:56Speaker 5: law we took a lot of criticism for four thousand troops,
- 7:59Speaker 5: seven hundred marine You know what we didn't get. There
- 8:01Speaker 5: was no summer of love in twenty twenty There was
- 8:04Speaker 5: in twenty twenty five. There was a summer of law enforcement,
- 8:07Speaker 5: and we quelled the protests of the attacks on ice officers.
- 8:10Speaker 5: We're going to help get DC under control by working
- 8:12Speaker 5: with local officials who have been federalized, with federal officials
- 8:16Speaker 5: who were coming in. The DC Guards proud to be
- 8:19Speaker 5: a part of it. Other states will contribute this week,
- 8:21Speaker 5: going into the weeks to come. Whatever's needed, the DoD
- 8:24Speaker 5: will provide to make sure this is a safe city
- 8:27Speaker 5: for those who live here, for those that work here,
- 8:29Speaker 5: and the Americans who want to come visit here and
- 8:31Speaker 5: love our capital city.
- 8:33Speaker 4: The question of martial law keeps getting raised by the
- 8:37Speaker 4: left that Donald Trump and Pete hegsith they want to
- 8:41Speaker 4: impose martial law as authoritarians would. To that, you said to.
- 8:46Speaker 5: That, I say, look at Los Angeles.
- 8:47Speaker 3: They said the exact same thing.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Oh look, oh look, four thousand troops California National Guard.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Oh look the Marines. You can't put in the Marines.
- 8:55Speaker 5: They were the troops available to ensure that we de
- 8:58Speaker 5: escalated the situation and didn't allow other law breakers to say, look,
- 9:02Speaker 5: it's wide open, we can do whatever we want in
- 9:03Speaker 5: these sanctuary cities. I was told, oh, you're going to
- 9:07Speaker 5: lock up political opponents, You're going to go after democrats, YadA, YadA.
- 9:10Speaker 5: It's the same stuff every time, mischaracterizing our intentions. The
- 9:13Speaker 5: intentions of this president is to establish law and order
- 9:16Speaker 5: using legal and lawful and constitutional means, which he completely
- 9:20Speaker 5: has and you know what, you know why they don't
- 9:21Speaker 5: like him. He's got the guts to do it. He's
- 9:23Speaker 5: got the guts to say, I'm going to federalize the
- 9:26Speaker 5: police that are that don't work. I'm going to bring
- 9:28Speaker 5: in the National guard. I'm going to bring in federal marshals.
- 9:31Speaker 5: I'm going to bring in the park police.
- 9:35Speaker 4: What is the cost money?
- 9:37Speaker 2: Right?
- 9:38Speaker 4: It cost money? And the question is are you there
- 9:41Speaker 4: for a year? Are you there for six months? And
- 9:43Speaker 4: when the troops pull out? What happened?
- 9:46Speaker 5: I would call this conditions based. I would say it's
- 9:48Speaker 5: a situation where we're here to support law enforcement. Uh
- 9:52Speaker 5: and the more we can free them up to do
- 9:54Speaker 5: their job, the more effective they can be, the more
- 9:56Speaker 5: we can work it. I mean, this isn't my realm,
- 9:57Speaker 5: but the justice system to make sure people who are
- 10:00Speaker 5: arrested are actually locked up. That's why the president's talking
- 10:02Speaker 5: about cash list, bear bill and sanctuary cities. If you're
- 10:05Speaker 5: illegal here in DC, that's going to be a problem.
- 10:07Speaker 5: So all of these things that apply to law and
- 10:09Speaker 5: order are are front and center for us. And I
- 10:12Speaker 5: don't know, weeks, months, what will it take. That's the
- 10:14Speaker 5: President's call, but we're going to be there for him
- 10:16Speaker 5: to execute as swiftly as possible.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Then as swiftly as possible. This is what you voted for,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and the presence delivering on that promise of having safer cities,
- 10:27Speaker 1: safer streets, safer capital, and making sure we are protecting
- 10:32Speaker 1: everyone in this country, regardless of who you voted for.
- 10:36Speaker 1: They're going to ask you a question, are you one
- 10:38Speaker 1: of those that's just so tired of giving your money
- 10:41Speaker 1: to radical left woke companies that actually are fighting against
- 10:44Speaker 1: your values every day? Well, there are certain bills that
- 10:48Speaker 1: you pay every month that if you can go with
- 10:51Speaker 1: a conservative company, why not do it? In fact, why
- 10:55Speaker 1: not go with a conservative company actually takes part of
- 10:57Speaker 1: your bill every month that you're going to pay to somebody,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and they give it back to organizations that support your
- 11:03Speaker 1: First and your Second Amendment rights, that support the rights
- 11:06Speaker 1: of unborn children, that stand with our military, are first responders,
- 11:12Speaker 1: and so many wounded warriors that need help. Well, that
- 11:16Speaker 1: bill I'm talking about is your cell phone bill. And
- 11:20Speaker 1: I've been telling you for a long time about Patriot Mobile,
- 11:22Speaker 1: but there's no better time to switch than right now.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Not only does Patriot Mobile operate on all three major
- 11:29Speaker 1: networks in this country, yeah, all three. That means you
- 11:32Speaker 1: get the same great coverage you're used to right now,
- 11:35Speaker 1: but you also make a difference with every call you
- 11:37Speaker 1: make and every text you make. And why would you
- 11:39Speaker 1: want to give your money to Big Mobile? Big Mobile
- 11:42Speaker 1: has been giving big donations to democratic causes, democratic candidates,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and radical left organizations. I'm talking about organizations that actually
- 11:51Speaker 1: support abortion. That is why I want you to switch
- 11:56Speaker 1: right now to Patriot Mobile. Go ahead and make this switch,
- 12:00Speaker 1: and it's so easy. All you have to do is
- 12:02Speaker 1: simply call Patriot Mobiles one hundred percent US based team
- 12:07Speaker 1: from the comfort of your home or your office and
- 12:09Speaker 1: they'll have you activated in minutes. And if you're still
- 12:12Speaker 1: locked in a contract, not a problem. Patriots Mobile contract
- 12:15Speaker 1: buyout program covers up to five hundred dollars per device.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Keep your same number, keep your phone, or upgrade do
- 12:22Speaker 1: a new one. So back to my point, what are
- 12:24Speaker 1: you waiting for? Call Patriot Mobile today and make a
- 12:27Speaker 1: difference every single day with every call you make. Patriot
- 12:31Speaker 1: Mobile dot com slash ferguson. That's Patriot Mobile dot com
- 12:36Speaker 1: slash ferguson or nine seven to two Patriot And if
- 12:40Speaker 1: you use the promo code ferguson, you're gonna get a
- 12:42Speaker 1: free month of service on top of that Patriot mobile
- 12:46Speaker 1: dot com slash ferguson or nine seven two Patriot. That's
- 12:50Speaker 1: Patriot mobile dot com slash ferguson or nine seven to
- 12:53Speaker 1: two Patriot. I want to also let you hear part
- 12:56Speaker 1: of the conversation that Centator Cruz and I had early.
- 13:00Speaker 1: He's in DC all the time, I used to live there.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I'm there all the time, and just how bad crime
- 13:05Speaker 1: has gotten and exactly why the President's got the support
- 13:09Speaker 1: of so many in Congress behind this issue as well.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And I want you to hear again how bad it
- 13:14Speaker 1: is and the reality on the ground in Washington, d C.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So you understand more of why the President's doing this now.
- 13:20Speaker 1: All right, So, Senator you and I are doing the show,
- 13:23Speaker 1: and just a half hour ago I got off of
- 13:26Speaker 1: yelling at the commis over at CNN. They're literally unhinged
- 13:30Speaker 1: right now, going insane over the fact that that would
- 13:33Speaker 1: be a trying to fight crime. That would be all
- 13:36Speaker 1: of them, Yes, that would be all of them. And
- 13:38Speaker 1: it was hysterical because they're like, well, this is what
- 13:40Speaker 1: dictators and tyrants. He I was like, hold on a second,
- 13:43Speaker 1: dictators and tyrants are trying to put criminals in jail
- 13:46Speaker 1: and save people's lives. That's your talking point, Like, well,
- 13:49Speaker 1: where's he going to stop if he does this in
- 13:51Speaker 1: d C. I'm like, well, he did it in DC
- 13:53Speaker 1: because there's special rules for DC. There's a reason why
- 13:57Speaker 1: I did it there, and he's not done it anywhere else. Like, well,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know, he's just going to do this and be
- 14:01Speaker 1: a dictator and take over LA or Baltimore. I'm like,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you guys are crazy. And again you're angry at Donald
- 14:07Speaker 1: Trump for fighting crime, which is out of control in DC,
- 14:10Speaker 1: a place you spend a large part of your week
- 14:12Speaker 1: every week.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Well, look, DC has gotten seriously dangerous and and I'll
- 14:18Speaker 6: tell you people going to work in DC, people living
- 14:21Speaker 6: in DC are concerned for their safety. They're concerned for
- 14:24Speaker 6: the safety of their families. They're concerned for the safety
- 14:26Speaker 6: of their spouses and their children. You know, Rand Paul
- 14:30Speaker 6: had a Capitol Hill staffer who was stabbed walking along
- 14:35Speaker 6: the sidewalk in the middle of the afternoon. There was
- 14:38Speaker 6: a man who served in the first Trump administration who
- 14:40Speaker 6: was in his car at five pm on the streets.
- 14:44Speaker 6: He was shot in the head and murdered. This violence
- 14:48Speaker 6: is the direct result of disastrous Democrat policies that have
- 14:53Speaker 6: handcuffed the police, that that have limited the ability of
- 14:57Speaker 6: the police to go after violent criminal and the result
- 15:00Speaker 6: is DC's become a very dangerous place. So what happened
- 15:04Speaker 6: President Trump Monday morning? He announced it a press conference, quote,
- 15:08Speaker 6: this is liberation Day in d C. And We're going
- 15:11Speaker 6: to take our capital back. And he declared a public
- 15:14Speaker 6: safety emergency, and he took two actions. Number one, he
- 15:19Speaker 6: invoked section seven forty of the d C Home Rule Act,
- 15:23Speaker 6: placing the DC Police directly under federal control. And number two,
- 15:28Speaker 6: he signed a memorandum to the Secretary of Defense to
- 15:31Speaker 6: utilize the National Guard. He placed DA Administrator Terry Cole
- 15:36Speaker 6: as the interim Federal Commissioner of DC Police. And he
- 15:40Speaker 6: also announced plans to temporarily reassign one hundred and twenty
- 15:45Speaker 6: FBI agents in d C to night time patrol duties.
- 15:51Speaker 6: All of that was announced today. And the reason he
- 15:53Speaker 6: did it is he walked about the statistics about d
- 15:57Speaker 6: C crime. D C's murder rate is higher than that
- 16:02Speaker 6: of many cities around the globe. DC's murder rate is
- 16:05Speaker 6: higher than Bogota, Columbia. DC has one of the highest
- 16:10Speaker 6: murder rates among large US cities. Nationwide, the homicide rate
- 16:15Speaker 6: is more than twenty seven murders per one hundred thousand residents.
- 16:18Speaker 6: That was in twenty twenty four. Vehicle theft in d
- 16:21Speaker 6: C is more than three times the national average, with
- 16:27Speaker 6: eight hundred and forty two point four thefts per hundred
- 16:30Speaker 6: thousand residents. It is among the most dangerous cities globally,
- 16:36Speaker 6: and in recent years the number of car thefts has
- 16:40Speaker 6: doubled and the number of car jackings has tripled. Look,
- 16:45Speaker 6: I had actually while I was recording Verdict. I don't
- 16:48Speaker 6: know if you know this story, but years ago when
- 16:49Speaker 6: Verdict just started, while I was recording Verdict, we had
- 16:55Speaker 6: the truck that I was driving in parked on the
- 16:57Speaker 6: d C streets and we went down to the TV
- 17:00Speaker 6: studios in the basement for that. And while the truck
- 17:03Speaker 6: was on the streets, someone broke into the windows, shattered
- 17:07Speaker 6: them open, and stole my briefcase. Took my briefcase with
- 17:10Speaker 6: my computer and my iPad and took the whole thing.
- 17:13Speaker 1: You didn't have classified documents in there, did you? You know?
- 17:16Speaker 1: I did not have them randomly there? Okay, I'm liking sure.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Otherwise that would have been some big news here.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Unlike Joe Biden, I've never removed classified documents from a secure,
- 17:26Speaker 6: compartmentalized facility. Unlike Sandy Berger, who was Bill Clinton's National
- 17:31Speaker 6: security advisor, I've never stuffed classified documents in my underwear
- 17:35Speaker 6: or in my socks to try to smuggle them out.
- 17:37Speaker 6: So no, it was just annoying. And by the way,
- 17:40Speaker 6: here's a stat about carjackings. In recent years, the number
- 17:45Speaker 6: of carjackings in in DC has tripled, and one of
- 17:50Speaker 6: those victims of carjackings was was Congressman Henry Quayar, a
- 17:55Speaker 6: Texas congressman. Again, it was the evening time. He was
- 17:59Speaker 6: just coming home with his dinner and he was carjacked
- 18:03Speaker 6: in front of his apartment where apparently numerous members of
- 18:09Speaker 6: Congress live in this apartment building. And he, a member
- 18:13Speaker 6: of Congress, was carjacked. And so President Trump is acting directly,
- 18:19Speaker 6: and apparently one of the motivations from this is that
- 18:24Speaker 6: a White House staffer named Edward Korusta, and he's a
- 18:29Speaker 6: Doge staffer and his nickname is Big Balls. And I
- 18:32Speaker 6: will say, by the way, one of the funniest things
- 18:34Speaker 6: I've ever seen is because he was working in DOGE.
- 18:37Speaker 6: It forced Data Bash and CNN to say the words
- 18:39Speaker 6: big balls like nineteen different times on air, which I
- 18:44Speaker 6: have to admit I couldn't watch the segment without doubling
- 18:47Speaker 6: over laughing. Well, apparently, this young man, unfortunately was assaulted
- 18:52Speaker 6: over the weekend by about ten juveniles near DuPont Circle.
- 18:56Speaker 6: And so when a nineteen year old staffer in the
- 18:58Speaker 6: White House can't be safe in DC, the President, I think,
- 19:02Speaker 6: should act, and that's what President Trump has done.
- 19:04Speaker 1: So it's amazing how mad they are that he's actually
- 19:08Speaker 1: trying to fight crime, and it's actually pretty simple. He's
- 19:10Speaker 1: saying it's out of control. The numbers are out of control.
- 19:14Speaker 1: The data shows it's out of control, and yes, the
- 19:16Speaker 1: numbers have come down this year, thank goodness. Part that's
- 19:19Speaker 1: because I think law and order and the President advocating
- 19:21Speaker 1: for law enforcement all over the country and allowing law
- 19:23Speaker 1: enforcement to be empowered to do their job and ice
- 19:26Speaker 1: agents to do their job. But they're actually angry at
- 19:30Speaker 1: him because he's doing something that they say is out
- 19:35Speaker 1: of his job description. And they're like, this is what
- 19:39Speaker 1: dictators and tyrants do. And I go back to that line,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, dictators and tyrants are fighting crime like
- 19:44Speaker 1: that's a bad thing, really.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Well, and the federal government has authority over DC explicitly
- 19:52Speaker 6: under the Constitution. Article one, Section eight, Clause seventeen of
- 19:56Speaker 6: the Constitution gives Congress quote exclusive legislation over DC, and
- 20:02Speaker 6: Congress through its delegate, the DC Council designated that the
- 20:07Speaker 6: President serves as the DC National Guards Commander in chief,
- 20:12Speaker 6: and that's in DC Code section forty nine, Dash four
- 20:16Speaker 6: O nine, which reads, quote, the President of the United
- 20:19Speaker 6: States shall be the Commander in Chief of the Militia
- 20:21Speaker 6: of the District of Columbia. There's an executive order from
- 20:25Speaker 6: nineteen sixty nine that delegates the day to day authority
- 20:27Speaker 6: over the DC Guard from the President to the Secretary
- 20:30Speaker 6: of Defense, who further delegates it to the Secretary of
- 20:33Speaker 6: the Army. So there's explicit authority to authorize the National
- 20:37Speaker 6: Guard and also Congress in nineteen seventy three pastor law
- 20:43Speaker 6: called the Home Rule Act. And what the Home Rule
- 20:45Speaker 6: Act does is it gives the President explicitly the power
- 20:50Speaker 6: to take control of the DC Police quote, whenever he
- 20:54Speaker 6: determines that special conditions of an emergency nature exist which
- 20:59Speaker 6: require the use of the Metropolitan Police Force for federal purposes,
- 21:03Speaker 6: and that statute. The Home Rule Act further says the
- 21:06Speaker 6: mayor shall provide, shall not may shall provide the police
- 21:12Speaker 6: quote as the President may deem necessary and appropriate, not
- 21:16Speaker 6: as the mayor deems, not as the city Council deems
- 21:19Speaker 6: as the President may deem. And the authority is limited
- 21:23Speaker 6: to forty eight hours unless the President sends notice to
- 21:27Speaker 6: the Congressional Committees on DC justifying the action, at which
- 21:31Speaker 6: point the authority is limited to thirty days. Trump has
- 21:34Speaker 6: said he's sent that notice this morning. This section has
- 21:37Speaker 6: never been invoked before, but it is explicit, unequivocal statutor
- 21:41Speaker 6: authority to do what he did. And the fact that
- 21:44Speaker 6: democrats of the media are losing their mind is they
- 21:46Speaker 6: don't like the fact that he's exercising clear legal authority
- 21:50Speaker 6: and clear legal authority that he's using precisely because the
- 21:56Speaker 6: DC mayor and the DC City Council have refused to
- 21:59Speaker 6: do their job.
- 22:00Speaker 1: It's amazing that they refuse to do their job. And
- 22:02Speaker 1: even now the police union coming out this is part
- 22:05Speaker 1: of that story. I think it's really important so people
- 22:07Speaker 1: understand reality compared to how the media is covering this.
- 22:11Speaker 1: The police union has come out and said thank you
- 22:14Speaker 1: to the president and said we need your help because
- 22:17Speaker 1: we have so many officers down. And they're like, we
- 22:20Speaker 1: are asking and telling the president thank you. And that's
- 22:23Speaker 1: the police union who is saying this, And yet the
- 22:26Speaker 1: mayor is still like, well, I don't know about this.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I'm like, if your police union is telling you you
- 22:30Speaker 1: need the help, why would you not just say, let's
- 22:34Speaker 1: put politics aside here, Let's work with the president. Let's
- 22:38Speaker 1: work with the National Guard. Let's get things safe at
- 22:41Speaker 1: the metro stations where we see a large upticking crime.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Let's let me tell you where I could use this
- 22:46Speaker 1: National Guard, where you could put it and do this
- 22:49Speaker 1: in a by Parson way. But again it goes back
- 22:51Speaker 1: to this Trump arrangement syndrome, that right, Orange man is
- 22:54Speaker 1: always bad even if he's fighting crime.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's not just that it's the today's Democrat
- 23:01Speaker 6: party can't stand the police. It used to be there
- 23:05Speaker 6: was a time when when police unions, many of them
- 23:08Speaker 6: were Democrats. I will tell you as I travel the country,
- 23:13Speaker 6: everywhere I go and especially blue cities, when I arrived
- 23:16Speaker 6: in a city like New York, in a city like Chicago.
- 23:18Speaker 6: When I when I got off the plane in Chicago,
- 23:21Speaker 6: I'm often greeted by four, five, six, eight police officers,
- 23:25Speaker 6: unified cops, uniform cops who will come up to me
- 23:28Speaker 6: and they just say thank you. They'll give me their
- 23:30Speaker 6: patches and they feel so belieguer and I tell them
- 23:35Speaker 6: this is something I try to make a point. And
- 23:37Speaker 6: you've traveled with me, Ben, You've seen this. When I
- 23:39Speaker 6: see a police officer. I'm in Dallas today. When I
- 23:42Speaker 6: landed it in Dallas love Field, there were several officers there.
- 23:47Speaker 6: I THINKED shook the hands of every officer there, said
- 23:50Speaker 6: thank you, thank you for what you're doing, thank you
- 23:52Speaker 6: for fighting to defend us. And I'll tell you what
- 23:55Speaker 6: I tell the officers in Chicago and everywhere else, which
- 23:57Speaker 6: is it's my job to have you or back. And
- 24:01Speaker 6: why has d C undermined the police so systematically? Because
- 24:07Speaker 6: the Democrat Party has been taken over by the nut jobs.
- 24:11Speaker 6: It's been taken over by the abolished the police crazies,
- 24:15Speaker 6: the defund the police crazies. D C has in place
- 24:19Speaker 6: no cash bail policies so that people commit violent crimes
- 24:23Speaker 6: and get released on no cash bail that is madness.
- 24:26Speaker 6: And one of the things President Trump asked Congress to
- 24:30Speaker 6: do is abolish d c's no cash bail. I would
- 24:34Speaker 6: certainly vote to do so. I think that's absolutely the
- 24:37Speaker 6: right thing to do. I will tell you, I think
- 24:39Speaker 6: the odds are very high that Senate Democrats will filibuster
- 24:45Speaker 6: any effort to get rid of no cash bail in
- 24:48Speaker 6: d C. Because the Democrats today are the party of criminals.
- 24:53Speaker 6: They are And look when I say that, Ben, that
- 24:56Speaker 6: sounds hyperbolic, that sounds oh, come on, how can they
- 24:59Speaker 6: really be the party of criminals? Well, they're the ones
- 25:02Speaker 6: that tell you they are. They're the ones that their
- 25:05Speaker 6: dismay is how dare the president be committed to arresting
- 25:11Speaker 6: murderers and rapists and gang members? And I want to
- 25:14Speaker 6: be clear about something. DC is qualitatively different. So there's
- 25:18Speaker 6: a statute, long standing statute called posse commatatus. Posse comitatus
- 25:23Speaker 6: bars the use of the US military for civilian law enforcement,
- 25:28Speaker 6: except when authorized by the Constitution or another provision of
- 25:31Speaker 6: federal law. And so if the President were to do
- 25:37Speaker 6: this in New York City or Chicago, there would certainly
- 25:41Speaker 6: be a challenge under possecommatatus that using the military for
- 25:45Speaker 6: law enforcement violates that. Importantly, However, the Department of Justice,
- 25:51Speaker 6: in nineteen eighty nine, the Office of Legal Council issued
- 25:54Speaker 6: an opinion that found that President George Herbert Walker Bush
- 25:58Speaker 6: could use the DC car Guard to carry out law
- 26:02Speaker 6: enforcement missions in d C as part of the so
- 26:05Speaker 6: called war on drugs. And so you've got a Department
- 26:08Speaker 6: of Justice opinion long standing from decades ago that says
- 26:13Speaker 6: DC is different because it's it's not a state, it
- 26:16Speaker 6: is a federal encclave. The federal government has blanket authority
- 26:20Speaker 6: over DC. And so this is an instance where where
- 26:24Speaker 6: the president is acting pursuant to his authority and and
- 26:27Speaker 6: and I expect that his actions are going to prove
- 26:31Speaker 6: highly effective, which I got to tell you, Ben, I
- 26:33Speaker 6: think that scares Democrats even more well.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And that brings me the second part of this, which
- 26:38Speaker 1: is you look at how big of a success this
- 26:41Speaker 1: could be pretty quickly, and if it is a success,
- 26:45Speaker 1: it's just going to expose so many other sanctuary city leaders.
- 26:50Speaker 1: The Gavin Newsom's, the LA mayor, the Baltimore mayor, Chicago mayor,
- 26:54Speaker 1: the Memphis mayor, the Detroit mayor the New Orleans mayor,
- 26:57Speaker 1: all of these top crime cities for exactly what they've done.
- 27:01Speaker 1: It's the policies. You look at just DC and how
- 27:03Speaker 1: soft they've been on crime with juveniles, and juvenile crime
- 27:07Speaker 1: exploded in d C during COVID and after COVID because
- 27:13Speaker 1: they refused to hold juvenile's account for their actions. We've
- 27:17Speaker 1: seen this happen a lot of other places around the country.
- 27:19Speaker 1: So if this turns into a major success for the
- 27:22Speaker 1: president and people feel safe in d C, how big
- 27:26Speaker 1: of a political victory for law and order. I'm not
- 27:29Speaker 1: talking about Republican or everyone. I'm talking about for law
- 27:31Speaker 1: and order. Could this be and precedent moving forward the
- 27:34Speaker 1: break and say hey, I'm willing to help you. You
- 27:37Speaker 1: just got to ask for the help because we can
- 27:39Speaker 1: do what we just did in Washington, d C.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Yeah, Look, that's exactly right. And I think the obvious
- 27:45Speaker 6: analog is border security. We spent four years under Joe
- 27:49Speaker 6: Biden the Democrats, with the Democrats saying they were helpless
- 27:53Speaker 6: to secure the border. It was impossible to do. I
- 27:55Speaker 6: was there a year ago at the State of the
- 27:57Speaker 6: Union address when Joe Biden said he needed new legislation.
- 28:02Speaker 6: The only way to secure the borders if Congress passed
- 28:04Speaker 6: new legislation. Now, I was there this year when Trump
- 28:07Speaker 6: gave a State of the Union address, and it was
- 28:09Speaker 6: after border crossings with Trump being sworn into office had
- 28:13Speaker 6: dropped more than ninety nine percent. And Trump my favorite
- 28:17Speaker 6: line from his whole State of the Union address is
- 28:19Speaker 6: he said, it turns out we didn't need new legislation,
- 28:23Speaker 6: we just needed a new president. Well, the same thing
- 28:26Speaker 6: is true here. Look, President Trump has demonstrated conclusively the
- 28:30Speaker 6: border could have can be secured, and it could have
- 28:33Speaker 6: been secured four years ago. Except Joe Biden, the Democrats
- 28:36Speaker 6: wanted open borders because they saw a political benefit. If
- 28:40Speaker 6: we see the kind of successes that I know President
- 28:43Speaker 6: Trump hopes we'll see that, I think we are likely
- 28:45Speaker 6: to see. It will demonstrate not just every resident of DC,
- 28:49Speaker 6: but every resident of every other high crime city in
- 28:51Speaker 6: the country. Wait a second, this can be stopped, My
- 28:56Speaker 6: family can be protected. And the fact that the rates
- 29:00Speaker 6: in my city are so high, that the rape and
- 29:03Speaker 6: child molestations and the carjacking rates are so high, that
- 29:07Speaker 6: is a choice, a voluntary choice from Democrat politicians who
- 29:11Speaker 6: put partisan priorities above protecting their citizenry. That at the
- 29:17Speaker 6: end of the day is I think one of the
- 29:19Speaker 6: biggest reasons Democrats are freaking out. And I want to
- 29:21Speaker 6: make another point about this, which is there used to
- 29:24Speaker 6: be an implicit agreement about DC home rule, which is
- 29:28Speaker 6: that Republicans wouldn't interfere day to day and the Democrat
- 29:32Speaker 6: officials in d C wouldn't run the city as a
- 29:34Speaker 6: social experiment driven by progressive self indulgence like in other
- 29:39Speaker 6: blue cities, and the DC mayor and City Council broke
- 29:44Speaker 6: that implicit agreement. D C is fundamentally different from other
- 29:48Speaker 6: major cities because it's the nation's political capital, and if
- 29:52Speaker 6: you are serving in the federal government, you have to
- 29:55Speaker 6: be in DC. If the residents of New York or
- 29:58Speaker 6: San Francisco want to elect crazy Soros politician uh uh,
- 30:03Speaker 6: district attorneys if if if they want their officials to
- 30:06Speaker 6: implement their combination of communism and anarchy and and and
- 30:12Speaker 6: and woke policy shutting down schools and businesses. You know what,
- 30:19Speaker 6: if you don't like it, you can leave and and
- 30:23Speaker 6: and leaving that you can get out of a blue city.
- 30:27Speaker 6: To the extent voters anywhere in America elect representatives to
- 30:31Speaker 6: represent them. Look, the people of Texas, thirty one million
- 30:34Speaker 6: Texans have sent me to represent them in the Senate.
- 30:37Speaker 6: I have to go to Washington, d C. To do that.
- 30:40Speaker 6: That's where the Senate is. My staff, many of whom
- 30:43Speaker 6: are Texans. They have to be in d C to
- 30:45Speaker 6: do that job. And and and so the lawlessness the
- 30:48Speaker 6: president is acting, look fine, if you've got San Francisco
- 30:52Speaker 6: Democrats who want to go from one lawless hell hole
- 30:54Speaker 6: to another, that's their choice. But the nation's capital, there
- 30:58Speaker 6: is an obligation to keep it safe. And I think
- 31:01Speaker 6: the President is doing the exactly the right thing by
- 31:04Speaker 6: acting boldly. I want to commend him. This is a
- 31:07Speaker 6: bold step, and I think it's really important.
- 31:09Speaker 5: One.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Don't forget share this podcast please with your family and
- 31:13Speaker 1: your friends wherever they are, and I will see you
- 31:16Speaker 1: back here tomorrow
