Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Fed Chief Signals Rate Cuts plus Trump Signs Exec Order to End Cashless Bail
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You know that Donald Trump has been saying for quite
- 0:03Speaker 1: some time that he believes that interest rates are far
- 0:06Speaker 1: too high, holding back America's economy and making it harder
- 0:09Speaker 1: for Americans to own a home and to borrow money
- 0:12Speaker 1: for small business loans and things like that. Well, there's
- 0:16Speaker 1: been a war with Jerome Powell, and Jerome Powell actually
- 0:19Speaker 1: opened the door finally to cuts in his August to
- 0:23Speaker 1: twenty second Jackson Hole's speech, saying quote conditions may warrant
- 0:29Speaker 1: easing soon and stressing the Fed will move carefully based
- 0:33Speaker 1: on inflation and the softening labor market. Now, part of
- 0:38Speaker 1: this revolved around the real concern in the labor market.
- 0:43Speaker 1: There are real worries and stress tests. Powell highlighted the
- 0:46Speaker 1: job market as quote red flags, reinforcing why a cautious
- 0:52Speaker 1: cut could now finally be on the table. CBS News
- 0:57Speaker 1: even reporting on this, saying the inflation risks still matter,
- 1:01Speaker 1: saying he flagged terraf related prices pressuring the related FED
- 1:07Speaker 1: and said that look, we're trying to do what we've
- 1:09Speaker 1: got to do. They won't allow a quote one time
- 1:13Speaker 1: price bump to become persistent inflation, so deep rapid cuts
- 1:19Speaker 1: are quote unlikely as well. Now, the market reaction to
- 1:22Speaker 1: this was interesting. Stocks rallied Friday on the Davis tone,
- 1:27Speaker 1: then cooled at Monday's open as enthusiasm faded for what
- 1:31Speaker 1: he actually said. Now, I want you to actually hear
- 1:34Speaker 1: the reality of the situation. Peter Navarro at the White
- 1:38Speaker 1: House talking on Fox Business Jennal with Maria Bartiromo, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: I want you to hear what he said about all
- 1:45Speaker 1: of this happening in Jackson Hall, and Powell said, Look,
- 1:49Speaker 1: this is what we all knew all along. He's finally
- 1:52Speaker 1: acknowledging what the Trump camp has been saying all along,
- 1:56Speaker 1: that interest rates are too high and holding us back.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Here there is again Peter Navarro at the White House.
- 2:02Speaker 2: In his own words, Peter, it's great to see you
- 2:05Speaker 2: this morning. Welcome, and I know you have an op
- 2:07Speaker 2: ed out on j. Powell which is going.
- 2:09Speaker 3: To be coming out later on in the week.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Give us your assessment of the Chairman's speech and this
- 2:14Speaker 2: new thinking for September's cut.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Marie, very great, thanks for asking. Look, it was twenty
- 2:19Speaker 4: minutes of Powell gobbledegook in thirty seconds of pure Trump beauty.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Powell finally acknowledged what we've been saying in the Trump
- 2:29Speaker 4: camp all along that tariffs don't create inflation. He had
- 2:33Speaker 4: two sentences that said, one, they don't, even if they
- 2:38Speaker 4: might create some inflation, it's only a one shot deal,
- 2:42Speaker 4: so there's no inflationary spiral. And two, in the second sentence,
- 2:46Speaker 4: he said that's not going to stop him from cutting rates.
- 2:49Speaker 4: The markets off, they went, Maria, I'm on record is
- 2:52Speaker 4: saying Dallas hitting fifty thousand. I said that, Maria, by
- 2:56Speaker 4: the way, when we were at the plunge, the drop
- 3:00Speaker 4: when Donald Trump first introduced the tariffs this term, and
- 3:04Speaker 4: the markets rebounded, and it's going to be a rocket
- 3:07Speaker 4: ship because we're going to have price stability and economic
- 3:11Speaker 4: growth from the various aspects of Trump policy. It's a
- 3:16Speaker 4: deregulation of tax cuts, the strategic energy dominics, and guess
- 3:20Speaker 4: what fair trade, which is getting us tariffs. They're going
- 3:23Speaker 4: to pay down our debt, pay down our debt, pay
- 3:26Speaker 4: down our debt, and pay for the big beautiful tax bill.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Now.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Look, the markets obviously liked what he had to say.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting how Navarro said, Look, this
- 3:36Speaker 1: is thirty forty five minutes of gobblygook with a you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: thirty seconds of Trump brilliance where he's admitting what Donald
- 3:43Speaker 1: Trump has been saying along you're holding back the economy.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I also want you to hear what Charles Pain, good
- 3:49Speaker 1: friend of mine, had to say at Fox Business Channel
- 3:51Speaker 1: about this as the stock market is responding and soaring
- 3:55Speaker 1: and why why did that happen? Because they understand that
- 3:59Speaker 1: lowering interest rates in September could have a big impact
- 4:02Speaker 1: not only on our debt I'm talking about the federal
- 4:05Speaker 1: government's debt, all right, but also could have a very
- 4:09Speaker 1: big impact on something else. That something else is on
- 4:13Speaker 1: you and your dollars every single month.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Take a listen and everyone, I'm Charles paying this is
- 4:20Speaker 6: making money. So last week was monumental on several fronts, right,
- 4:25Speaker 6: notably the stock market, which you could see the red
- 4:28Speaker 6: all week long. In fact, we had a five day
- 4:30Speaker 6: losing streak and that made Friday really this face it.
- 4:34Speaker 6: There was sort of a do or die session, major interseries.
- 4:37Speaker 6: Of course, the sword swored on that Jackson Hole speech,
- 4:40Speaker 6: but the composition of the rally change, and I think
- 4:43Speaker 6: that's one of the big newsworthy things. This is for
- 4:45Speaker 6: the week, right. You rarely see this, but the big
- 4:48Speaker 6: red boxes, the big red rectangles, and those are your
- 4:51Speaker 6: tech names, those are your mega cap names. And Summer
- 4:54Speaker 6: down a lot, Polunteered down over ten percent, Microsoft Apple,
- 4:57Speaker 6: They're all took pretty good hints. Meanwhile, more broad, look
- 5:00Speaker 6: at this, all the other stocks at fort ninety three
- 5:03Speaker 6: stepping up to the plate, and then they're small caps.
- 5:06Speaker 6: A lot of false starts this year, but for the week,
- 5:08Speaker 6: small cap well, there were small cap value small cap
- 5:12Speaker 6: corps or small cap growth actually outperforming huge. One of
- 5:16Speaker 6: the best weeks for small caps in a long time.
- 5:18Speaker 6: The question is will it sustain itself? Can it be sustained?
- 5:22Speaker 5: Of course.
- 5:22Speaker 6: The other big news of the week, going back to
- 5:25Speaker 6: Jackson Hall, is where many thought that Jay Powell will
- 5:28Speaker 6: be confrontational, right, or at least at least, let's be honest,
- 5:31Speaker 6: the media trying to nudge Jay Powell into the corner
- 5:35Speaker 6: of sort of with these non stop stories. He's going
- 5:38Speaker 6: to stick to his guns. He's going to give it
- 5:39Speaker 6: to President Trump. You know, he's not going to be
- 5:41Speaker 6: pushing around. Well, they were disappointed. Many people were disappointed
- 5:45Speaker 6: because Powell, you know, he didn't hold back in certain ways,
- 5:49Speaker 6: though others actually said this whole thing this whole not
- 5:53Speaker 6: a charade, but whatever you want to call it might
- 5:55Speaker 6: actually be the twilight of the central banking elite. I
- 5:59Speaker 6: got to tell you, I came away thinking that Jay Powell,
- 6:01Speaker 6: he's kind of dealing with realities.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Things aren't written into textbooks that necessarily pertain today. You
- 6:07Speaker 6: have two hundred year old economic theories that don't necessarily
- 6:10Speaker 6: apply completely today. This political rhetoric that aging, there's.
- 6:13Speaker 7: So many things.
- 6:14Speaker 6: So maybe just maybe he cracked the current code.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Now, look, what Jerome Powell is now having to do
- 6:21Speaker 1: is probably what he knows he should have been doing
- 6:24Speaker 1: long before September. He's not in the political battle against
- 6:28Speaker 1: the president as he was early on. Why because I
- 6:32Speaker 1: think he understands he looks like an idiot. The President also,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I think willing to take this win, this w and
- 6:40Speaker 1: take it and just move on from it because it's
- 6:43Speaker 1: going to help the economy and the American people so much.
- 6:46Speaker 1: When I look at where we are and what the
- 6:49Speaker 1: President has been saying and what the President's been advocating for,
- 6:52Speaker 1: He's wanting Americans to be able to do things for themselves.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He wants them to be able to build or buy
- 7:00Speaker 1: a house. He wants them to be able to pay
- 7:03Speaker 1: for things or borrow money at a low rate. He
- 7:05Speaker 1: wants them to be able to expand their businesses or
- 7:07Speaker 1: their small businesses. I mean, these are just basic things
- 7:12Speaker 1: that the President of the United States of America has
- 7:14Speaker 1: been in favor of. And unfortunately, Democrats have been obsessed
- 7:18Speaker 1: with fighting the president no matter what, every single time
- 7:23Speaker 1: they get a chance. If they can fight the president,
- 7:26Speaker 1: they will fight the president time and time again. And
- 7:31Speaker 1: Democrats or Pale, the list goes on and on. Now
- 7:34Speaker 1: there's some pople say that the president should have just
- 7:36Speaker 1: gotten rid of Powell.
- 7:36Speaker 8: Right.
- 7:37Speaker 1: It's independent, however, and there's a lot of questions about that,
- 7:40Speaker 1: and the Federal Reserve should not be quote political. I
- 7:42Speaker 1: do believe that Powell has been political. Should there be
- 7:46Speaker 1: accountability for that?
- 7:48Speaker 5: Right?
- 7:48Speaker 1: We can debate that on another show another day. What
- 7:51Speaker 1: I do know right now is it looks like that
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Federal Reserve chairman is finally going to do not
- 7:58Speaker 1: what I want. I think you can argue maybe not
- 8:01Speaker 1: what you want. He's going to do what the market needs,
- 8:05Speaker 1: what the market deserves, what the market should have already done,
- 8:12Speaker 1: what he should have already done. I should say, for
- 8:14Speaker 1: the market. And the only reason why he's going to
- 8:17Speaker 1: do it now is because I think he realizes he's
- 8:20Speaker 1: actually holding back the American economy and he's hurting many Americans.
- 8:27Speaker 1: A lot of Americans still live paycheck to paycheck, a
- 8:29Speaker 1: lot are trying to get ahead. A lot of them
- 8:32Speaker 1: have debt, credit card debt, or home debt, whatever it
- 8:34Speaker 1: maybe are. There's people trying to buy their first home,
- 8:37Speaker 1: and you look at where we are, it should be
- 8:39Speaker 1: easier than it is right now to accomplish those things.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about my friends at
- 8:47Speaker 1: Kirk Elliott Precious Metals.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Two days ago, I got my new order of silver.
- 8:53Speaker 7: Now.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I'm investing in silver right now because the pricing on
- 8:56Speaker 1: it is amazing and the upside well, it's real. Actually
- 9:00Speaker 1: have a one hundred ounce silver bar. It is actually
- 9:05Speaker 1: really cool. It's really heavy because it's one hundred ounces.
- 9:09Speaker 1: But I also know that I bought it at the
- 9:11Speaker 1: right price and I wasn't paying massive up charges on quote,
- 9:15Speaker 1: rare or special coins. And then when you go to
- 9:18Speaker 1: sell them, you take away all of your earning potential.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Why do they do it this way at Kurt Elliott
- 9:24Speaker 1: because they have transparent pricing up front. It's very simple.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You pay eight percent when you buy, and here's what
- 9:32Speaker 1: matters to you the most, nothing when you sell. There
- 9:36Speaker 1: are no hidden fees ever with Kurt Elliott Precious Metals.
- 9:40Speaker 1: This is the reason why I recommend them. It's not
- 9:43Speaker 1: just about investing, it's about making sure you get more
- 9:47Speaker 1: for your money. And that is exactly why Kurt Elliott
- 9:51Speaker 1: helps people all the time. Whether it's gold or silver,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you can hold it, be a good steward of it,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you can pass it on to future generations, and you
- 9:59Speaker 1: can build wealth with it. It's real, boy, youon never gimmicks,
- 10:03Speaker 1: just investment grade gold and silver. No overpriced coins, no
- 10:09Speaker 1: flashy markups. And it's a company that I love because
- 10:13Speaker 1: they are a faith driven company. There's no pressure, just
- 10:17Speaker 1: honest care. They treat every client like family, offering honest
- 10:21Speaker 1: answers up front to help you make wise informed decisions. Now,

- 10:29Speaker 1: and silver with an eternity mindset, visit k e PM
- 10:35Speaker 1: dot com slash Ben. That's k e PM dot com
- 10:40Speaker 1: slash Ben. You can also call them seven two zero
- 10:44Speaker 1: six oh five thirty nine hundred that's seven two zero,
- 10:48Speaker 1: six oh five thirty nine hundred. So let's faithfully steward
- 10:53Speaker 1: what God has given so you can experience real peace
- 10:56Speaker 1: now and for generations to come k e PM slash ben.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So Donald Trump has come out and he is seeking
- 11:05Speaker 1: to end cashless bell nationwide. He's starting with Washington, d C.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And his order directs federal law enforcement to hold arrestees
- 11:16Speaker 1: in custody and prosecute them on federal charges when possible
- 11:23Speaker 1: to avoid two things, pre trial release and pre trial
- 11:27Speaker 1: release with cash bail. Now, the President has made it
- 11:31Speaker 1: clear he's not messing around. In fact, Trump is threatening
- 11:35Speaker 1: to withhold or revoke federal funding from states and local
- 11:39Speaker 1: jurisdictions that have substantially eliminated cash bail for offenses deemed
- 11:46Speaker 1: a threat to public safety, violent or sexual crimes, burlery, looting, vandalism,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and the Attorney General is ordered to identify those jurisdictions
- 11:57Speaker 1: within thirty days. Agencies then determine which funding to quote suspend.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Now, the framework for all this is going to be big.
- 12:09Speaker 1: You also have a lot of people that are frustrated
- 12:11Speaker 1: in and around the President of the United States of America.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Why Well, because he's not backing down from what he promised,
- 12:19Speaker 1: and they can't believe that they can't get him to
- 12:21Speaker 1: just be quiet on this issue of cashless bell. Take
- 12:24Speaker 1: a listen to how MSNBC described this signing.
- 12:27Speaker 9: So first, let's start with the big topic, cashless bail.
- 12:30Speaker 9: Cashlest bail, of course, allows a defendant to be released
- 12:33Speaker 9: from jail while they're awaiting trial that's based on their
- 12:36Speaker 9: commitment to appear in court instead of paying a specific
- 12:40Speaker 9: cash amount. I know some supporters of cashless bail says
- 12:43Speaker 9: it avoids penalizing low income defendants. But game, what is
- 12:46Speaker 9: the President and White House saying about this order? And
- 12:49Speaker 9: they're hopes for what it will do, not just for Washington,
- 12:51Speaker 9: but the rest of the country.
- 12:53Speaker 10: Well, you know, I was in clay the President and
- 12:55Speaker 10: his administration. I've been railing against cashlest bail for quite
- 12:58Speaker 10: some time. It's something that Janine Piro, the US Attorney
- 13:02Speaker 10: here in d C, has been talking about a lot
- 13:04Speaker 10: in the last couple of days. In this executive order
- 13:06Speaker 10: that President just signed aims to eliminate cash list fail
- 13:09Speaker 10: here in d C by potentially withholding federal funds from
- 13:15Speaker 10: this jurisdiction and also he ordered his Attorney General to
- 13:20Speaker 10: look at different jurisdictions across the country and identify those
- 13:24Speaker 10: that have casualist bail policies and explore ways to withhold
- 13:27Speaker 10: some federal funding. Now, that is something that the administration
- 13:31Speaker 10: has done for a variety of issues, trying to explore
- 13:34Speaker 10: ways to stop federal funding or to the threat of
- 13:38Speaker 10: withholding federal funds in order for those jurisdictions to agree
- 13:44Speaker 10: or to go along with their policy. But that is
- 13:46Speaker 10: just one of the executive orders that he signed this morning.
- 13:50Speaker 1: S and collect Now, cash list bell has been something
- 13:53Speaker 1: that the left is.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Absolutely obsessed with.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I'll give you a great example this Democratic Representative Kelly
- 14:00Speaker 1: saying this about cashless bell. Now again, Democrats have been
- 14:04Speaker 1: campaigning on it. Black Lives Matter was created around it.
- 14:07Speaker 1: George Soros and the activist das are the ones that
- 14:10Speaker 1: implement it. They wanted cashless bail, They wanted prison reform,
- 14:14Speaker 1: which meant get everybody out of jail. These are the
- 14:17Speaker 1: radical left ideas now destroying cities. Yet you even look
- 14:23Speaker 1: at Chicago and Democratic Representative Kelly again talking about Chicago
- 14:29Speaker 1: saying this about National Guard troops and cashless bail.
- 14:33Speaker 11: I want to ask you, we only have a been
- 14:34Speaker 11: at left, congress Woman about no cash bail, because the
- 14:37Speaker 11: President signed an EO today ending that practice aimed too
- 14:40Speaker 11: At least your state of Illinois was the first in
- 14:42Speaker 11: the nation to pass a cashless bail law. What does
- 14:45Speaker 11: Donald Trump not understand?
- 14:48Speaker 12: He doesn't understand that this gives judges the discretion, a
- 14:52Speaker 12: more discretion to make that decision. You know, they can
- 14:55Speaker 12: say no if they think it's someone that will you know,
- 14:59Speaker 12: go out of me buy they're not, they're too risky.
- 15:03Speaker 12: But if you know they have nothing in their past
- 15:06Speaker 12: or the judge feels that, you know, they'll be safe
- 15:09Speaker 12: and it's okay to you know, let them out, they
- 15:11Speaker 12: have that discretion.
- 15:13Speaker 13: So but Donald Trump doesn't care. Again, this is part
- 15:15Speaker 13: of his you know, fear, This is part of his
- 15:18Speaker 13: distraction from other things going on in the world, you know,
- 15:23Speaker 13: other things going on in the United States.
- 15:25Speaker 7: Like he said he would lower.
- 15:26Speaker 10: Prices, that hasn't happened.
- 15:28Speaker 13: So these are all distractions.
- 15:31Speaker 1: All distractions, she says, nothing good Donald Trump's done.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Prices, she says, aren't lower, even though they actually are.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Gas prices is a perfect example that the price of
- 15:40Speaker 1: eggs the price of butter, the price of milk. There's
- 15:44Speaker 1: countless items that are lower since Donald Trump got back
- 15:48Speaker 1: into office. But you can hear this representative straight up
- 15:51Speaker 1: lying about it. I also want you to hear from
- 15:54Speaker 1: the Miami mayor about what he had to say about
- 15:56Speaker 1: cash list bail and what happens when you have it.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and when you were at the White House, you
- 16:02Speaker 2: spoke about this.
- 16:03Speaker 5: You went to the White House for.
- 16:04Speaker 2: That summit, and you talked about cashless bail contributing to
- 16:08Speaker 2: the nation's crime spy. Tell us more about that and
- 16:11Speaker 2: why you don't see more cities and states turning over
- 16:17Speaker 2: a page from cash less bail.
- 16:22Speaker 7: Well.
- 16:22Speaker 8: As president of the US Conference of Mayors, it's my
- 16:24Speaker 8: responsibility to lead and to put forth an agenda based
- 16:28Speaker 8: on policies that have worked in my city and that
- 16:31Speaker 8: can work across America. And this castless bail is another
- 16:35Speaker 8: example of a failed liberal policy where you create a
- 16:39Speaker 8: revolving door of people who commit crimes and are back
- 16:42Speaker 8: out on the streets immediately. It makes it impossible for
- 16:45Speaker 8: law enforcement to do their job. It puts an incredible
- 16:48Speaker 8: burden on cities and on law abiding residents that have
- 16:51Speaker 8: to deal with people who are habitual criminals, and it
- 16:54Speaker 8: just doesn't work. And so you know, we have to
- 16:56Speaker 8: get away from politicizing again law enforcement and get to
- 16:59Speaker 8: think that work policies at work that make our city safer,
- 17:02Speaker 8: because safety is the number one concern whenever you've done
- 17:05Speaker 8: a pults. I've been around a public service for thirteen years. Okay,
- 17:08Speaker 8: they're like dog years. And I'll tell you, whenever you
- 17:13Speaker 8: do a poll, the number one issue is always crime
- 17:16Speaker 8: and the economy. You know, one and two, and they
- 17:18Speaker 8: and they, and they vascily between one and the other.
- 17:20Speaker 8: So safety is the biggest concern for citizens across the world.
- 17:25Speaker 8: So it just it's something that we cannot afford a politicize.
- 17:28Speaker 8: We've got to do things that keep our citizens safe.
- 17:31Speaker 1: By the way, the Miami Mayor absolutely right, cash list
- 17:34Speaker 1: bail is another example of a failed liberal policy, something
- 17:39Speaker 1: that's been implemented, and the data shows overwhelming the majority
- 17:43Speaker 1: of Americans are in favor of what Donald Trump's doing,
- 17:46Speaker 1: not allowing those that are committing heinous crimes.
- 17:49Speaker 5: To walk among us.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Welcome back. It is the Ben Ferguson Show. So nice
- 17:55Speaker 1: to have you with us. I want to take you
- 17:57Speaker 1: back to oh what a week and a half ago,
- 17:59Speaker 1: when the as the United States of America announced he
- 18:01Speaker 1: was going to federalize law enforcement in Washington, d C,
- 18:05Speaker 1: take charge and fight crime. What did the left in
- 18:09Speaker 1: the media say, Well, I can tell you because I
- 18:12Speaker 1: was on TV that night on CNN, and they said
- 18:15Speaker 1: the president all this was was him being a narcissist,
- 18:18Speaker 1: a dictator, and this is all about Donald Trump wanting
- 18:22Speaker 1: to be in charge. And I asked the question, why
- 18:26Speaker 1: is it you guys hate Donald Trump so much to
- 18:28Speaker 1: the point where you won't even advocate from fighting crime
- 18:32Speaker 1: when people are dying in Washington.
- 18:34Speaker 6: D C.
- 18:35Speaker 1: They then said Donald Trump doesn't know how to fight crime,
- 18:38Speaker 1: and that this is all for the cameras.
- 18:41Speaker 5: It's all theatrics.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That he wasn't actually going to fight crime in high
- 18:45Speaker 1: crime areas in Washington, d C. He was just going
- 18:48Speaker 1: to put him around the national mall. Well guess what
- 18:52Speaker 1: that was also a lie? How do we know it?
- 18:55Speaker 1: Take a list in the White House Press Secretary Caroline
- 18:58Speaker 1: Levitt is she explains exactly what's happened in just over
- 19:02Speaker 1: a week of data they've now received.
- 19:05Speaker 14: President Trump's efforts to make DC safe again are working.
- 19:09Speaker 14: There have been a total of four hundred and sixty
- 19:12Speaker 14: five arrests since the start of this operation on Thursday,
- 19:16Speaker 14: August seventh. Last night, there were a total of fifty
- 19:19Speaker 14: two arrests, including the arrest of an illegal alien MS
- 19:23Speaker 14: thirteen gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession.
- 19:27Speaker 14: Thanks to President Trump's leadership in the outstanding work of
- 19:30Speaker 14: both federal and local law enforcement, dangerous gang members like
- 19:34Speaker 14: the one picked up last night will not be allowed
- 19:36Speaker 14: on the streets of our nation's capital. Other arrests last
- 19:40Speaker 14: night included assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing, parole
- 19:44Speaker 14: violation for robbery murder, outstanding warrant for attempted murder, assault
- 19:49Speaker 14: on federal law enforcement officer, and felony assault. Four more
- 19:52Speaker 14: homeless encampments were also removed during yesterday's reporting period. To date,
- 19:57Speaker 14: a total of forty eight homeless encampments have been and Washington,
- 20:01Speaker 14: d c by multi agency teams. MPD patrol units are
- 20:05Speaker 14: actively working with city officials to locate in clear additional
- 20:08Speaker 14: encampments and remove homeless residents off of Washington streets. And
- 20:13Speaker 14: despite fake narratives from the media, again, a significant number
- 20:16Speaker 14: of the arrests have been in high crime areas of DC.
- 20:20Speaker 14: In fact, nearly half of all of the non illegal
- 20:23Speaker 14: alien related arrests have occurred in Wards seven and eight,
- 20:28Speaker 14: the two wards that have the highest number of violent
- 20:30Speaker 14: crime as well as homicides and assaults with dangerous weapons
- 20:34Speaker 14: last year. So while Democrats continue to caudle violent criminals,
- 20:38Speaker 14: President Trump and this administration are focused on putting them
- 20:41Speaker 14: behind bars and unapologetically standing up for the safety of
- 20:45Speaker 14: law abiding American citizens. And the White House will continue
- 20:48Speaker 14: to provide all of you with the results of this
- 20:51Speaker 14: operation in the days ahead.
- 20:53Speaker 1: You listen to what she said, they went into the
- 20:57Speaker 1: most violent neighborhoods to protect the least among us. You also,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and if you listen to Democratic Party, they're obsessed with
- 21:06Speaker 1: black lives matter. If I remember correctly, they even painted
- 21:11Speaker 1: a street with Black Lives Matter on it, the mayor
- 21:14Speaker 1: of DC making sure it was headed straight to the
- 21:17Speaker 1: White House. And so why wouldn't you advocate for more
- 21:21Speaker 1: law enforcement? Now the liberal media narrative has been well, actually,
- 21:26Speaker 1: things are incredibly safe in DC.
- 21:28Speaker 5: They're so much better than.
- 21:30Speaker 1: They were when they had a quote bad year in
- 21:33Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. Well, we now know that there may
- 21:37Speaker 1: be massive lives have been told to us in twenty
- 21:40Speaker 1: twenty four and twenty twenty five. What am I talking about?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Insert the DC police union chairman who's now exposing saying
- 21:48Speaker 1: there's a very good chance, based on what they've seen,
- 21:52Speaker 1: that the numbers were deliberately manipulated to make crime look
- 21:56Speaker 1: like it was lower than it actually was in DC.
- 22:00Speaker 1: See another Democrat cover up, caring more about faking the
- 22:05Speaker 1: numbers than fighting crime. Listen to what the DC union
- 22:09Speaker 1: police chairman had to say on Fox News Channel.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Can you confirm for us that there have been police
- 22:17Speaker 3: officers and detectives and members of law enforcement in DC
- 22:21Speaker 3: who on the scene of crimes have been told don't
- 22:25Speaker 3: write that one down, or don't add that to the list,
- 22:28Speaker 3: or put that down as a more minor offense.
- 22:33Speaker 7: Absolutely.
- 22:33Speaker 15: That's one of the chief complaints of our members when
- 22:35Speaker 15: we go around and talk to them, is that they
- 22:37Speaker 15: respond to the scenes of these violent crimes, and inevitably
- 22:41Speaker 15: you'll have a captain or a commander or sometimes a
- 22:43Speaker 15: lieutenant show up on the scene and advise them.
- 22:46Speaker 7: To take a report for a lesser offense.
- 22:49Speaker 15: One of the things that we see them do often
- 22:51Speaker 15: is Sometimes they'll be a shooting or a stabbing, and
- 22:53Speaker 15: if the victim is uncooperative with the police, which is
- 22:56Speaker 15: not uncommon in some areas of the city, they'll be
- 22:58Speaker 15: directed to take an injured person to the hospital report,
- 23:01Speaker 15: which is not even a crime at all, it's an
- 23:03Speaker 15: incident report. Sometimes you'll have a robbery, it'll be reported
- 23:06Speaker 15: as a theft. Other times you'll have burglaries that are
- 23:09Speaker 15: reported as unlawful entry or thefts. This is something that's
- 23:13Speaker 15: been unfortunately part and parcel of the police department for
- 23:17Speaker 15: some time, and we're very skeptical that these crime stats
- 23:20Speaker 15: are accurate.
- 23:22Speaker 3: That's extraordinary. What is the motivation? Why are these commanders
- 23:26Speaker 3: or higher ups arriving on the scene during apprehensions and
- 23:30Speaker 3: telling police officers to indicate something other than what actually
- 23:35Speaker 3: happened at the scene.
- 23:37Speaker 15: Well, the only explanation you give be to keep the
- 23:39Speaker 15: crime stats down because politically that's expedient for the police
- 23:42Speaker 15: department and elected officials in the district. I mean, let's
- 23:45Speaker 15: go back to how we got here, which is that
- 23:46Speaker 15: in twenty twenty, the Dccity Council passed the Comprehensive Policing
- 23:50Speaker 15: and Justice Reform Act, which was a sweeping piece of
- 23:52Speaker 15: legislation designed to hamstring police officers, to reduce the size,
- 23:56Speaker 15: scope and responsibilities.
- 23:58Speaker 7: Of police officers.
- 24:00Speaker 15: Addition, it also prevented us from holding criminals accountable even
- 24:03Speaker 15: when they're convicted of crimes. And so now here we
- 24:05Speaker 15: are five years later, the police department, with an authorized
- 24:08Speaker 15: strength of four thousand sworn members, we only have three
- 24:11Speaker 15: thy one and eighty, leaving us with over eight hundred
- 24:14Speaker 15: vacancies for the position a police officer. And in order
- 24:18Speaker 15: to make up for that gap, the police department uses
- 24:20Speaker 15: two million hours of mandatory overtime to cover the demand
- 24:24Speaker 15: for police officers. And so because of that, crime has
- 24:26Speaker 15: skyrocketed in the district. And one of the things that
- 24:29Speaker 15: we think is going on in the police department, which
- 24:32Speaker 15: who knows.
- 24:33Speaker 7: How high up that those directives.
- 24:34Speaker 15: Are coming from, is to make sure that these crime
- 24:37Speaker 15: stats are reported in the most favorable way possible.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I mean, what you're saying obviously substantiates what we heard
- 24:44Speaker 3: from President Trump. He said they were opening an investigation
- 24:47Speaker 3: and that he didn't believe because what happened. I don't
- 24:49Speaker 3: have to tell you I'm speaking to the audience at large,
- 24:52Speaker 3: But when President Trump said he wanted to bring a
- 24:54Speaker 3: national guard. All we heard from many quarters in the
- 24:57Speaker 3: media and in leadership in Washington, this is ridiculous. Our
- 25:01Speaker 3: numbers are lower than they've been in a long time
- 25:03Speaker 3: in Washington, DC. We don't need national guard presence on
- 25:06Speaker 3: our streets. I mean, this sounds very, very egregious. This
- 25:12Speaker 3: is lying to the people at the constituents of Washington,
- 25:15Speaker 3: d C. And lying to the federal government about what
- 25:18Speaker 3: your numbers really are.
- 25:20Speaker 7: Well, you're right, Martha, it is a crime under DC Code.
- 25:23Speaker 15: It would be false swearing and it would be false reporting,
- 25:25Speaker 15: and those are statutes in the DC Code that make
- 25:27Speaker 15: it illegal to do that, to false fy police reports
- 25:30Speaker 15: or to change the data. So if the DOJ is
- 25:32Speaker 15: in fact investigating, I hope they do, and if they
- 25:34Speaker 15: find that somebody was intentionally manipulating the data, they should
- 25:37Speaker 15: be held accountable. It's a crime in the District of Columbia,
- 25:40Speaker 15: and frankly, it's a disservice to the police department, it's
- 25:43Speaker 15: a disservice to the city, and most of all, it's
- 25:45Speaker 15: a disservice to the victims whose police reports are not
- 25:48Speaker 15: being properly handled. And we're not dedicating the proper resources
- 25:52Speaker 15: to the crimes that they've been victims of. So something
- 25:54Speaker 15: needs to change here, and this is an important issue.
- 25:56Speaker 1: So let's just go over the DC crime stats. Now,
- 26:00Speaker 1: DC crime since the announcement of federal control versus the
- 26:04Speaker 1: seven day prior numbers, forty six percent is how much
- 26:09Speaker 1: they are down when it comes to robberies, six percent
- 26:12Speaker 1: down when it comes to carjacking, eighty three percent down
- 26:16Speaker 1: for car theft, twenty one percent, violent crime, twenty two
- 26:21Speaker 1: percent down, property crime six percent of all crimes.
- 26:25Speaker 5: This is unbelievable.
- 26:27Speaker 1: And now the Justice Department is investigating whether the DC
- 26:31Speaker 1: police deliberately manipulated crime data. The police chief also saying
- 26:37Speaker 1: this about DC crime under the Democrats to the Republicans.
- 26:43Speaker 15: The criminal justice system here in the District of Columbia
- 26:45Speaker 15: is broken. Every aspect of it is broken, whether that's policing, prosecution,
- 26:51Speaker 15: judges and trials, sentencing and supervision, all of it is broken.
- 26:55Speaker 15: And you can trace every aspect of it back to
- 26:58Speaker 15: a piece of legislation that was passed by the council.
- 27:01Speaker 15: They have destroyed policing, they have destroyed prosecutions, they have
- 27:03Speaker 15: destroyed the way that the courts are allowed to operate,
- 27:06Speaker 15: and they've destroyed our ability to sentence criminals to sentences
- 27:09Speaker 15: that are commensurate with the crimes they've committed. And so
- 27:12Speaker 15: the only way to fix this holistically is to go
- 27:14Speaker 15: back and look at all of this legislation that the
- 27:16Speaker 15: Council passed it back in twenty twenty when there was
- 27:19Speaker 15: all of this anti police rhetoric and work to undo that.
- 27:23Speaker 15: I know from my experiences the DC Council will never
- 27:26Speaker 15: do that on their own.
- 27:27Speaker 7: And so what we're.
- 27:27Speaker 15: Hoping over the course of the next thirty days is
- 27:30Speaker 15: that whether that's the White House, whether that's these federal
- 27:32Speaker 15: law enforcement agencies, whether that's Congress, that people get an
- 27:35Speaker 15: insight into exactly how the system got so broken, because
- 27:39Speaker 15: the only way to fix it is if we can
- 27:41Speaker 15: get rid of that legislation. And my main concern is
- 27:43Speaker 15: that thirty days are going to go by, all of
- 27:45Speaker 15: these folks are going to go up about their merry way,
- 27:47Speaker 15: and we're still going to be stuck with all this
- 27:49Speaker 15: bad law.
- 27:50Speaker 1: We're only going to be stuck with bad laws. So
- 27:53Speaker 1: just remember this. Remember what the Democratic Party is doing.
- 27:57Speaker 1: They're not actually trying to fight crime They just want
- 28:00Speaker 1: Donald Trump to be a failure, even if it means
- 28:03Speaker 1: Americans dying.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Don't forget.
