- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: Please, uh, I just want to say to everyone that we're doing really good, man, I say that only because we're still here.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: No matter what goes on in our life, we are still here and we're doing okay, because we're just still here.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you can't do nothing but maintain, and that's a great thing.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just maintain.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, a lot of things have been going on in the news.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we had the tropical storm.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: I know you heard about that coming through, besides all the killing and the things that happened around the world.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: We have the war and Israel and, uh, they opposed to be coming to a seas, hopefully, um,
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: It had come to a cease and everything has stopped in Israel and because I think it's because they should be able to come to some type of resolution, could the people out there and it's so horrible, they don't want them dirty.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: And they give them no options, no choice.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: You have to even do it my way or the highway.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what it looks like.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: furthermore, our president is inside of that.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: And he's the middle man, the ring leader, making things move according to him.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone loves that.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm happy that, you know, people will have some type of peace because they've been in war for the last two years.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now, as we look at United States and what's going on in the United States government, we all know we are on the
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: shutting down and I believe our government will shut down.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: Who does that affect out of service?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: The government is out of service.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: who is immediately affected by the government going out of business or closing or just shutting down for a little while.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys know exactly what's up Trump's leave, but I will tell you a little bit of what I know about it because if the tariffs coming to play on your health care, we're going to have a major problem around the world.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's because
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: If it goes on to medication, how can you afford your co-payments?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: All the veterans we have, all the first responders, all the sick people that's in these programs.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: Everything will be on a standstill, no funding.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: We already shutting down enough stuff.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they have contingency plans, a contingency money sitting there that maybe will
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: hold them down for a little bit, but the bottom line is we have to understand that if the government shuts down, what does that stake here?
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: If he gets approved to do what he want to do and your co-payments for your health care is affected, what happens?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the elderly that's got to make their doctor's appointments, everything will stop.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: The elderly that's on fixed budgets cannot pay the co-pay nor can they make their appointments to sick.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: What about people that's on dialysis machines?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: People that have to go to the hospital every day regardless.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: What about those people?
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: that we think about this all the way, the government shutting down, who does it really affect, is the rich, really affected by the government shutting down or the minority.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone that's getting assistance from the government is affected, even the ones that's not getting assistance from the government is affected if the government
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm here to tell you that, who can afford chemo without assistance?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Cancer, medication, without assistance.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: How can we pay for a liver transplant, kidney transplant?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: Certain surgeries.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: How can we pay for these surgeries?
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: A medical needs without having some type of assistance from your government.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: I offer to you that this is absurd that we don't go through this where if he does get his wish and the government shuts down or we don't come to agreement that medical health care will be in jeopardy.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: How can one of the biggest countries in the world go without having proper health care?
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: but we can butt into everybody else business and do everything else we need to do for Russia, China and all this other stuff, but we can't solve our own problems.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: I only can relate to this being that, maybe people will have to start moving to Canada.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: You guys know why I said that because you know, healthcare is free in Canada.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: But what if you're in a situation where
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have a job somewhere else paying you good money.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: But since it's in a private sector, you're a little lary.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're leaving the hospital sector where you have a good health care.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: Do you take that leap and risk losing the health care you already have?
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Career moves, you gotta think about this.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: What about that mother, single parent, raising five kids?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: She can't afford health care.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: A cold payments will be off the chain if they raise it.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: How do our kids get medical attention?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the kid is asmatic.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the kid has sickle cell.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: How do we get past this situation?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well, these are many more questions.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: We need to look into what today's podcast.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And for introduction guys, I'm Jermaine McCrimon.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: This is humanity on blog podcast.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: We thank you guys for tuning in and being with us.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And this is what we want to bring so of is our government about the shutdown.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: So let's listen to a democratic leader.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: I keen Jeffries.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's really good.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: He talks with some common sense.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let's listen up.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: Good morning, it's a high honor and a distinct privilege to stand here today with members of the House Democratic Caucus.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: who I want to thank for their grit, for their strength, for their intellect, for their heart, for their soul, and for their fight on behalf of the American people, we are in this fight until we win this fight, for their people.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: State the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as Catherine, from the great state of Ohio, for their presence here today, for sharing their stories, for being here on behalf of more than 300 million Americans who are having to deal with the Republican health care crisis.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: One second, guys, it looks like it's a commercial.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna play it, but I'm gonna skip through it.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: You won't hear it.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go, we're back into it.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: Allow me to reintroduce myself.
- 9:55[UNKNOWN]: Hey!
- 9:56[UNKNOWN]: Hey!
- 9:57[UNKNOWN]: Hey!
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the House Democratic Leader.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: Our caucus is 217 members strong.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_02]: in a separate and co-equal branch of government.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: We don't work for you.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: We work for the American people.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: We are fighting to lower the high cost of living, and to protect the health care of everyday Americans.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Mr. President.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: The next time you have something to say about me.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm so cool.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: Don't cop out through a racist and fake AI video.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: When I'm back in the older office, say it to my face.
- 10:52[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Say it to my face.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know when I listen to this,
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And they just let in the president know that they are here, they're not going nowhere.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: And he needs to understand, he'll be more respected.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: If he says something about him, face to face.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: But they're going to talk about this budget and health care.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: And this was really need to be done, need to say what's on our minds.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: They had about 60 people that came out out of the 231 people, maybe 65 tops, but it's a good crowd and they're all united.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're doing anything.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: House Democrats are here on duty fighting on behalf of the American people.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: ready to fund the government in a way that lifts up the equality of life house Democrats on duty house Republicans on vacation.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Shame on them for being on vacation all across the country and across the world on the eve of a government shutdown.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: So this is really, really serious right here.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is perfect, a very good valuable point that Republicans are all in vacation.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: They don't care on the eve.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: They all on vacation, children.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Madness.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: We're on duty, they're on vacation, they're on vacation because they'd rather shut the government down, then protect the healthcare of the American people.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's unfathomable, that's unacceptable, that's unconscionable, and that's un-American.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Every day Americans whose health care has been under assault by Republicans who have enacted the largest cut to Medicaid in American history triggered a possible 536 billion dollar cut to Medicare because of what happened in their one big ugly bill hospitals, nursing homes,
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: in rural America, in urban America, in the heartland of America and small town of America and black and brown communities all across America because of Republicans have done in terms of this health care crisis that they've created.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very, very good point.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you guys understand.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: $536 million cut from healthcare.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: It affects all hospitals worldwide in the United States of America, clinics, et cetera, et cetera.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: This is major, you know, you don't know what time life happens and you gotta go to the hospital.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine your hospital was there two months ago and now it's closed because of budget cuts and bad decisions by your president.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy, but that's the truth.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: And in just a few days, notices will go out to tens of millions of Americans.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: Because of the Republican refusal,
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, which will result in tens of millions of Americans experiencing dramatically increased premiums, co-pays, and deductibles.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: And an environment where the cost of living is already too high.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: Opposition?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he not lying.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: He told me the truth, people was cost of living extremely high right now.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it's always been high of your acts.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, could I only give a nobody to my money?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Even though, you know, I don't know that they own different circumstances, but it's just very high right now.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's a simple one.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: Council of cuts, lower the costs, safe, hellcare.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's what this fight is all about.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: We're here.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: We're ready, we're willing and able to find a bipartisan path forward to fund the government in a way that actually meets the needs of the American people in terms of their health, their safety and their economic well-being.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: But here's what we're not going to do.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to support a partisan Republican spending bill that continues to gut the health care of the American people, not now, not ever.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: We are here to lower the high cost of living.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_02]: We're here to cancel the cuts.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: We're here to lower the cost.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: We're here to save the health care of the American people.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: is that we will always stand up for what is in your best interest to make your life better.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: To ensure that in this country, when you work hard and play by the rules, you can afford to live the good life for yourself, for your family, and for your children.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: And we know that an important part of that is protecting your health care.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: So we had to protect your health care today.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care tomorrow.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care this week.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care next week.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care this month.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care next month.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care this year.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: Protect your health care next year.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: We will protect your health care at all times and defend your health care until victory is won.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now guys, I'm not going to hold you on this whole video because it's really good, but it's kind of long, it's very long, he be talking, and now you're going to have other people come up and talk about how the healthcare affects them and their own experience.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: through healthcare.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we all get the picture that healthcare is so important and we need to have it.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, throughout times in our life, the rich don't see fit.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: They want to cut other budgets and cut other things that they think is not important because they got the money to go past it.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: But unfortunately, it affects the little
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: So this man has stepped up.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: I came Jeffries along with the team of people he have there to try to put his stop to this and try to stop the government from cutting our health care today tomorrow.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have care this month next month, like you said, just to try to stop the health care from getting dwindled to nothing when you get into your 80s and 70s 90s.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: So it's so important to have health care and health coverage.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a great thing, and I think he's doing a great job.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think we will win, but we're going to need more people to support and do what we do to try to keep this from happening, because what out healthcare, what you're going to do, you can't pay, you're going to be really rough.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people are going to suffer without having
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: You'd be surprised, health care going to do with food, well, being mental health, that's all health care.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_01]: Place a stay is health care, and all trickles into each other.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: How could you be productive if you're homeless, health care can help you get a place to stay.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Having coverage.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: Your veterans come out of the military and serve their country.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now that they come out, they're handicapped, they disable, and now you're cutting, funding, you cutting their health care why, because y'all took the money and spent it and went the wrong way.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: These things happen.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not gonna hold you guys.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to get a little bit of that inside the video.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm gonna play a little bit more and we can cut it after that.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: So here we go.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: And privilege to now yield to the whip of the House Democratic caucus and a champion for women, children, families, and the American people, the Honorable Catherine Clark.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Good morning.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: We thank leader Jeffries, our caucus stands with him because he's standing for the American people.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: And the American people are asking, is this the golden age that Donald Trump promised, Medicare about to be gutted by half a trillion with a $T dollars, nearly 20 million people about to lose their health insurance, cuts to Medicaid that are already shutting down hospitals, nursing homes are closing.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: And the notice is go out tomorrow working people can't afford that small business is can't stay open with costs that are exploding around them and with all the damage that they are doing you would think Republicans would at least show up for work.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll tell you what, Democrats are here.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to keep government open.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to keep hospitals open.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to keep children insured.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're, she's preaching, she's getting warm, she's preaching.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to keep healthcare affordable.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to lower costs for the American people.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: And Republicans may have skipped town, but you know who always shows up?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: moms, moms like our next speaker.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Theresa Looney is here to share what this fight means to her family because moms are feeling the pain right now.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: moms don't know if they'll be able to afford that next visit.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: to the pediatrician.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: Moms to be can't even find an open maternity ward near their house.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: And Republicans think they should just foot the bill.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: $15,000 to pay for their own delivery.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: Moms who are horrified that 40% of the kids in this country.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I would tell you this.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: If you may people pay for the birth of their children, it wouldn't be so many kids being born.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you that.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of kids are being born in poverty because people being careless.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: Born into situations because people don't care because they say that tax being in person can pay it.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not all against making a person pay for it because if you did that,
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: They think much harder before they make certain decisions of having a baby and the cost.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, I might get beat up for that statement, but it's a truth.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, are at risk of losing their healthcare.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: So Teresa, we thank you for being here on behalf of all moms.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to go too much into it after that guys.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: I like the thank you for sharing with us from getting down on the get down this episode.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: What we drop in Thursday morning.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Time you're here this it will be five clock in the morning on Thursday.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: October 2nd.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thank you guys.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: God bless.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Stay strong.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: And remember, man, keep your head up and protect your peace and your loved ones.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Later.
