- 0:01Speaker 1: I am here in Milwaukee, and I can tell you
- 0:04Speaker 1: two things that are a fact. I have never seen
- 0:07Speaker 1: the Republican Party as focused as it is right now.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I have never seen the Republican Party as united as
- 0:16Speaker 1: it is right now. I am also here in Milwaukee,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and I can tell you I've never seen the Democratic
- 0:22Speaker 1: Party in such disarray. I have never seen the Democratic
- 0:28Speaker 1: Party ever be at a point where they're actually trying
- 0:33Speaker 1: to figure out how to delay their convention with all
- 0:36Speaker 1: the planning that goes into a convention, so they can
- 0:40Speaker 1: have more time to convince Joe Biden to get out
- 0:44Speaker 1: and say I am no longer going to be the nominee.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I have also never seen.
- 0:49Speaker 1: The Democratic Party fight so publicly. Usually they fight and
- 0:54Speaker 1: decide what's going to happen behind the scenes, and they
- 0:56Speaker 1: come out united. The wheels have come off the Democratic Party.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I have never seen the Big Five coalesce behind a
- 1:06Speaker 1: decision to actually get rid of the President of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: United States of America who is a Democrat in their party.
- 1:14Speaker 1: The five families we've now been told have been pushing
- 1:17Speaker 1: meeting and talking with Joe Biden behind the scenes, and
- 1:20Speaker 1: his family telling him he cannot win.
- 1:23Speaker 2: He is going to lose, and his.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Legacy is going to be that he lost, and he
- 1:27Speaker 1: could have stopped this from happening by dropping out of
- 1:31Speaker 1: the race and given them a chance.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Who are the big five? Nancy Pelosi, the Pelosi.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Family, the Schumer family, the Clinton family, the Obama family.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Those are the ones that are really in his face
- 1:49Speaker 1: right now. Schumer, as you know, the Senate Majority leader,
- 1:53Speaker 1: a dear friend and ally to Joe Biden for decades,
- 1:57Speaker 1: as they serve together for decades in the Senate.
- 2:01Speaker 2: They are friends.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer has come out and made it very clear
- 2:06Speaker 1: that there is no way and said this apparently from
- 2:08Speaker 1: what we've been told from multiple sources, met with the
- 2:11Speaker 1: president and said you cannot win and shared internal polling.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Nancy Pelosi has done the same.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Hillary and Bill Clinton have done the same, The Obamas
- 2:20Speaker 1: have done the same. And now we're being told that
- 2:23Speaker 1: the leader of the Democratic Party in the House, Jeffries,
- 2:26Speaker 1: has also done this. So the five families of the
- 2:30Speaker 1: Democratic Party, the most powerful you could argue, five families
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the Democratic Party have all organized and coalesced to
- 2:40Speaker 1: get rid of the president of the United States of America.
- 2:44Speaker 1: That is incredible MSNBC this morning had this report about
- 2:51Speaker 1: Democrats are also warning by not only could this be
- 2:54Speaker 1: his legacy, but they could actually hurt, could actually hurt
- 2:59Speaker 1: the entire day Democratic ticket, begging with him to step down,
- 3:03Speaker 1: begging with him to stop, begging with him, begging that
- 3:07Speaker 1: he would please not destroy the Democratic Party. And the
- 3:12Speaker 1: Democrats have also coalesced to dry up the money.
- 3:17Speaker 2: This is all about cash now.
- 3:20Speaker 1: They are stopping the funds going into the Biden campaign
- 3:24Speaker 1: weeks before the convention, which is incredible, It is shocking,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and it is incredible, and they are stopping the money
- 3:32Speaker 1: and everything else. I want to go to your phone
- 3:35Speaker 1: calls the number five three five nine seven three two
- 3:38Speaker 1: five three five nine seven three two.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Listen to Morning Joe this morning.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Hit us up to datough with what's happening in Milwaukee.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Also what you're hearing from the Biden campaign. Yeah, we'll
- 3:53Speaker 4: start with the Biden campaign, Joe, And exactly right about
- 3:57Speaker 4: the sequencing. So on your I talked about the fact
- 4:01Speaker 4: three weeks ago that there was an effort among top
- 4:04Speaker 4: Democrats to give President Biden the chance to walk off
- 4:09Speaker 4: the stage. They said, he is proud, he's stubborn. We
- 4:12Speaker 4: love him, we appreciate him. We want to give him
- 4:15Speaker 4: the chance to walk off the stage. President Biden, in
- 4:19Speaker 4: the view of these top Democrats, did not take the
- 4:22Speaker 4: hint and the way that one top Democrat, someone very
- 4:26Speaker 4: close to the West wing, put it to me Sunday
- 4:29Speaker 4: as I sat here on the floor of this hall
- 4:32Speaker 4: with my laptop doing reporting at the Republican Convention about
- 4:36Speaker 4: what was happening in the Democratic Party. They said, we
- 4:39Speaker 4: don't want to humiliate him.
- 4:42Speaker 2: That was the effort. Then we saw this sequence.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yesterday and is my brilliant colleague Zach Bossu puts it
- 4:51Speaker 4: at the top of the axios this morning. President Biden
- 4:54Speaker 4: is now self isolating, both medically and politically with COVID.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Now he had given the sequences, he had said we
- 5:04Speaker 4: could get him out.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Of the race.
- 5:05Speaker 4: The President had said the Lord Almighty. Then he said
- 5:08Speaker 4: data pulling the show that I couldn't win.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Then he said health.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Then privately is reporting saying that he's being told that
- 5:19Speaker 4: Vice President Harris can win. So all his boxes now
- 5:23Speaker 4: are checked. One more thing about Vice President Harris, a
- 5:26Speaker 4: very specific plan for her to run. Democrats are going
- 5:31Speaker 4: to be able to start fast, would be able to
- 5:33Speaker 4: start fast with her. If they go that way, one,
- 5:36Speaker 4: she instantly makes Row the center of the race. Very
- 5:40Speaker 4: important to Democrats, the fall of Row Dobbs versus democracy
- 5:44Speaker 4: as they have put it. Second, the way that Democrats
- 5:47Speaker 4: cleverly put it is that now age and fitness would
- 5:51Speaker 4: become the Republicans problem, the Republicans issue if she were
- 5:55Speaker 4: the nominee. And third, they would frame it as prosecutor
- 5:59Speaker 4: as she was in my home state of California elected
- 6:02Speaker 4: DA San Francisco former attorney general versus convicted fella. But
- 6:07Speaker 4: as Ryan Nobles was saying, the president has to choose this.
- 6:11Speaker 4: He has the delegates, the statements yesterday from both the
- 6:14Speaker 4: campaign and the White House. He is the nominee or
- 6:18Speaker 4: soon will be. They can't take it from him. He
- 6:20Speaker 4: has to make that choice.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I mean, this reporting is rarely do I sit here
- 6:26Speaker 1: and not want to interrupt. I didn't want to interrupt
- 6:29Speaker 1: any of MSNBC. There they are telling you that they
- 6:33Speaker 1: hate Joe Biden and that they have already figured out
- 6:36Speaker 1: how Kamala Harris would win and how to make her
- 6:39Speaker 1: the nominee, and if he would just step aside and
- 6:42Speaker 1: stop being a selfish senile sob that we've been protecting
- 6:45Speaker 1: for the last three years. He was the same selfish
- 6:49Speaker 1: soob right. It was also c nile that they were
- 6:52Speaker 1: trying to hide, telling us that he that no one
- 6:55Speaker 1: can keep up with Joe Biden, that Joe Biden's faster
- 6:57Speaker 1: and quicker and smarter than everybody else, that Joe Biden
- 7:01Speaker 1: is the man, that Joe Biden is a vibrant We
- 7:03Speaker 1: all knew it was a lie, and then the entire
- 7:06Speaker 1: country and the world saw it during the last debate.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But you look at this way they framed it. This
- 7:12Speaker 1: is like a something you stick on a tombstone, folks.
- 7:16Speaker 1: He's self isolating both medically and politically, is what they
- 7:20Speaker 1: said on MSNBC. Like, I mean, I'm waiting for the
- 7:23Speaker 1: breaking news banner Joe Biden dead politically, right, Like Joe
- 7:27Speaker 1: Biden has died politically, it's they're writing his obituary right
- 7:32Speaker 1: now on MSNBC. Both again, Joe Biden is self isolating
- 7:37Speaker 1: both medically and politically. Like like if I was Joe
- 7:42Speaker 1: Biden and I was I was isolated, and I saw
- 7:45Speaker 1: that at MSBC, I actually might wake up from a
- 7:48Speaker 1: n app and like call somebody and be angry like that.
- 7:52Speaker 2: It might actually get me excited, like I'm not dead yet.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Y'all, Like, well, politically you are, sir, like you are politically.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I can't you see Joe Scarborough saying that to him,
- 8:02Speaker 1: like you're done, You're finished. Like they're losing their minds
- 8:06Speaker 1: in the Democratic Party now. I will say this, I've
- 8:09Speaker 1: never seen the Republicans as united as we are now
- 8:12Speaker 1: at convention. I've never witnessed this in my entire political career.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I have never seen the Democratic Party turning the way
- 8:21Speaker 1: that they're turning. Representative Joyce Beattie was on NBC and
- 8:27Speaker 1: I want you to hear what she had to say
- 8:29Speaker 1: about Joe Biden, and she's still trying to defend him.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Like the group of people that's willing to go on
- 8:34Speaker 1: TV to defend Joe Biden is getting smaller and smaller,
- 8:36Speaker 1: not by the day, but by the hour.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Listen joining us now.
- 8:40Speaker 6: Is the former chair of the Congressional Back Black Caucus,
- 8:44Speaker 6: Congressoman Joyce.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Beatty of Ohio.
- 8:46Speaker 6: She is a national advisory board member for the Biden
- 8:50Speaker 6: Harris campaign. And Jonathan Lemire has the first question.
- 8:54Speaker 7: Jonathan, Congressman, thanks for joining us this morning. Let me
- 8:58Speaker 7: pose the question to you, very similar the one the
- 9:01Speaker 7: president just received. We know at least Pole suggests, to
- 9:04Speaker 7: this point in the race, black voters have not been
- 9:07Speaker 7: there with the same kind of numbers or enthusiasm for
- 9:10Speaker 7: Joe Biden as they were four years ago.
- 9:14Speaker 2: What can be done?
- 9:15Speaker 7: What concrete steps can be done to turn that around?
- 9:20Speaker 2: Well, first of.
- 9:20Speaker 8: All, let me just say thank you, and I think
- 9:22Speaker 8: we're doing that right now. We're telling not just Black America,
- 9:26Speaker 8: but we're telling all of America the work that Joe
- 9:29Speaker 8: Biden and Kamala Harris have done. You can pick a topic.
- 9:33Speaker 8: You can talk about our economy, you can talk about
- 9:35Speaker 8: education and health care. They've been leading and for Black Americans.
- 9:40Speaker 8: President Biden kept his word on every promise he made.
- 9:44Speaker 8: He told us we'd have a black woman on the
- 9:46Speaker 8: Supreme Court.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He told us that he.
- 9:49Speaker 8: Would stand up for education, and he put the most
- 9:52Speaker 8: money into HBCUs than.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Any other president.
- 9:55Speaker 8: We could talk about our children or our seniors. More
- 9:58Speaker 8: than fifty percent of our children are now out of poverty,
- 10:02Speaker 8: and we're protecting our seniors. If you just look at
- 10:06Speaker 8: what he did to cap insulin at thirty five dollars
- 10:09Speaker 8: a month or to out of pocket expenses for medical
- 10:15Speaker 8: supplies prescriptions to two thousand dollars. He meets with the
- 10:20Speaker 8: Congressional Black Caucus. We've done more when you talk about
- 10:23Speaker 8: criminal justice and keeping our communities safe with this president.
- 10:28Speaker 8: So I think we have to tell our stories and
- 10:30Speaker 8: you have to look at it. It's still early in
- 10:32Speaker 8: some ways.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Voters start really.
- 10:35Speaker 8: Coming out in September.
- 10:36Speaker 2: In October.
- 10:37Speaker 8: We know how many black voters go to the polls
- 10:40Speaker 8: on election day.
- 10:42Speaker 2: So we're still all in.
- 10:44Speaker 8: And I can tell you as a member and char
- 10:46Speaker 8: Emerita of the Congressional Black Caucus, I'm all the way
- 10:50Speaker 8: with Joe Biden.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Now she says she's all in with Joe Biden, and then.
- 10:56Speaker 1: She's asked a question. You know what she says, until
- 10:59Speaker 1: he tells me otherwise. So you're on his campaign, you're
- 11:05Speaker 1: an advisor, you're of the Black Caucus, and you're now
- 11:10Speaker 1: changing your line from I'm all into I'm all in
- 11:15Speaker 1: with Joe Biden dot dot dot until he tells me otherwise.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So even the people that are his advisors on his
- 11:24Speaker 1: campaign are now looking at the real possibility that we're
- 11:29Speaker 1: gonna get rid of Joe Biden. So let's talk about
- 11:34Speaker 1: this strategy by the way by Democrats to delay their convention.
- 11:40Speaker 1: The reason why the tactic you need to understand is
- 11:43Speaker 1: once they lock in Joe Biden, and Joe Biden officially
- 11:47Speaker 1: takes the nomination and the delegates at the convention, then
- 11:52Speaker 1: the chances of replacing him drop astronomically. And the options
- 11:59Speaker 1: right now and the power structure, and I'll go over
- 12:02Speaker 1: this very quickly because it's important to understand how this
- 12:04Speaker 1: could work. So the power right now is all the delegates.
- 12:09Speaker 1: They have all the power. Okay, the power right now
- 12:13Speaker 1: to get a different candidate is in their hands at
- 12:18Speaker 1: the convention. But as soon as the convention is over,
- 12:23Speaker 1: they have zero power, like not even one percent power,
- 12:26Speaker 1: zero power. It gets much more complicated at that point.
- 12:29Speaker 1: To get rid of Joe Biden. There's two ways you
- 12:31Speaker 1: can do it. One, you could have a twenty fifth
- 12:35Speaker 1: amendment that is invoked by the cabinet where they could
- 12:39Speaker 1: actually say we believe you're unfit and we're going to
- 12:42Speaker 1: take you out. That's option number one. Number two you
- 12:48Speaker 1: could have then the people that are members of the
- 12:53Speaker 1: Democratic National Committee. Each state has members who could then
- 12:57Speaker 1: come together and pick the candidate that would be chaotic.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I believe, based on the timeline, that the only real
- 13:05Speaker 1: person at this moment that can take over is Kamala Harris.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I think they could have parachuted in Michelle Obama from
- 13:12Speaker 1: what I'm being told, I think she doesn't want any
- 13:15Speaker 1: part of this, especially after.
- 13:17Speaker 2: The assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So she doesn't want to be a part of this
- 13:24Speaker 1: disaster dumpster fire that the Democratic Party has right now.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Could that change, of course, Kamala Harris is a clear choice.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I just played for you that MSNBC clip from earlier
- 13:34Speaker 1: where they're already talking about like, hey, she's got the money,
- 13:37Speaker 1: she's got the staff.
- 13:38Speaker 2: She would be an easy fixed on Roe v. Wade.
- 13:43Speaker 1: That would be the center point of the campaign, women's rights,
- 13:45Speaker 1: as you, she would fire up minority voters. I mean,
- 13:47Speaker 1: they're selling it, and the sales pitch is pretty solid.
- 13:51Speaker 1: There doesn't seem to be as much as the Democrats
- 13:54Speaker 1: really don't like her, any real push for any other
- 13:58Speaker 1: candid but Kamala, because I think they under stand she's
- 14:01Speaker 1: the only one that has the time and the campaign staff,
- 14:04Speaker 1: because she would keep everybody that Biden has on the team.
- 14:08Speaker 2: And they would immediately move forward with that.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So I believe she is the person at this moment,
- 14:16Speaker 1: very very very very very clearly. Okay, like very clearly.
- 14:21Speaker 1: That's number one, number two here. Even the Democrats are
- 14:27Speaker 1: supposed to be the protectors of Joe Biden are not
- 14:30Speaker 1: protecting him. Joyce quote, I'm all in video, who's a
- 14:35Speaker 1: black caucus? Okay, I'm all in with Joe Biden until
- 14:38Speaker 1: he tells me otherwise. But there's a lot of other
- 14:41Speaker 1: people on TV that are saying the otherwise. Is it's
- 14:47Speaker 1: it's over right? Like it's over.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Let me tell you about my friends at Ammo's Squared.
- 14:52Speaker 1: If you are like me and you love buying Amo
- 14:55Speaker 1: at a great price and you want to be stocked

- 16:34Speaker 1: ammo squared dot com slash ben. All right, this morning, John,
- 16:41Speaker 1: Helsman National affairs analysts said this on NBC News about
- 16:46Speaker 1: the patients of Democrats waiting on Joe Biden to drop out.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and look, Joe, I mean, yes, so yesterday, as
- 16:52Speaker 3: you said, all those people ducks in a row, Adam
- 16:56Speaker 3: Schiff a close Pelosi ally certainly with her blast thing.
- 17:01Speaker 3: First we had heard the elaked thing about how he
- 17:03Speaker 3: had a fundraiser over the weekend, has said he thought
- 17:05Speaker 3: Biden would lose. That he came out yesterday with the
- 17:08Speaker 3: La Times and announced it would be probably the most
- 17:11Speaker 3: prominent Democrats so far, almost certain soon to be senator
- 17:15Speaker 3: from California, formerhead of the House Intelligence Committee, came out
- 17:17Speaker 3: and said that he wanted Biden to step aside. And then,
- 17:20Speaker 3: in rapid succession, word coming out that Haakim Jeffries had
- 17:25Speaker 3: had a tough meeting with Biden last Friday, that Schumer
- 17:28Speaker 3: had had a meeting on Saturday, and then last night
- 17:31Speaker 3: again not coincidentally, the almost the moment that Jade Vance
- 17:36Speaker 3: finished speaking Abby Phillips, the CNN broke the news that
- 17:40Speaker 3: Nancy Pelosi had the same conversation with Biden. I believe
- 17:45Speaker 3: it's possible she's had that conversation with Biden more than once,
- 17:48Speaker 3: in fact, since last Thursday.
- 17:50Speaker 5: And none of this is a coincidence.
- 17:51Speaker 3: This is what it looks like when the Democratic leadership
- 17:55Speaker 3: still trying to get Joe Biden to do what they
- 17:58Speaker 3: believe is the right thing for the party, which is
- 18:00Speaker 3: to step aside. Still trying to only go private, go
- 18:04Speaker 3: go public in a kind of oblique way, not calling
- 18:07Speaker 3: a press conference, not issuing anything formal. But they are
- 18:10Speaker 3: their patiences is now exhausted. They have looked at these
- 18:14Speaker 3: numbers and then come back to the money Joe. Jeffer
- 18:17Speaker 3: Katzenberg has devoted a lot of his professional life to
- 18:20Speaker 3: try to get Joe Biden into the White House, to
- 18:23Speaker 3: getting Joe Biden. In twenty twenty, he raised more money
- 18:25Speaker 3: for Joe Biden. Call told back in twenty twenty than
- 18:27Speaker 3: any other person. He's raised more money for Joe Biden collectively,
- 18:31Speaker 3: pulling all these people together, the big Hollywood fundraisers, and
- 18:33Speaker 3: he's a campaign co chairman.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Jeffrey Katzenberg.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Okay, he went to Biden yesterday and said the big
- 18:40Speaker 3: dollar donors are done effectively I'm paraphrasing, but we can
- 18:46Speaker 3: still raise money at the grassroots but that means about
- 18:49Speaker 3: half of the money that we were expecting for the
- 18:52Speaker 3: fall we are not going to have. Joe Biden has
- 18:55Speaker 3: had a significant financial advantage over Donald Trump for the
- 18:59Speaker 3: first half of this year, as we all know, and
- 19:02Speaker 3: this goes a little bit of our discussion we've been
- 19:03Speaker 3: having about polling.
- 19:05Speaker 2: They have spent one hundreds.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Of millions dollars already in the battleground states. And one
- 19:11Speaker 3: of the things that worries again Democrats and some of
- 19:13Speaker 3: the president's people is that they've spent a lot of
- 19:16Speaker 3: money in those battleground states and have not moved his
- 19:18Speaker 3: numbers very much. While the Trump campaign has not had
- 19:21Speaker 3: very much money.
- 19:23Speaker 1: They're now telling you that money can't save Joe Biden.
- 19:29Speaker 2: That's damning, folks, That is damning.
- 19:34Speaker 1: One other thing I'll say about this, Van Jones said
- 19:37Speaker 1: last night on CNN, quote, a bullet couldn't stop Trump,
- 19:41Speaker 1: A virus stopped Joe Biden. They want him gone. So
- 19:49Speaker 1: let's talk about last night's speeches. Okay, this is incredible
- 19:55Speaker 1: for me and jd Vance had a speech last night
- 20:01Speaker 1: and it was a speech.
- 20:03Speaker 2: That a lot of kind of criticized this morning.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Just so you know, they've criticized this speech because they
- 20:09Speaker 1: thought it wasn't a lot of energy. It was one
- 20:13Speaker 1: of those speeches that Minie said, Hey, I think this
- 20:17Speaker 1: is pretty like bland speech. Giving a speech two days
- 20:22Speaker 1: after you've been gotting the phone call that you're the
- 20:25Speaker 1: vice presidential of Canada is intimidating. And do I think
- 20:30Speaker 1: it could have been punched up a little bit more
- 20:33Speaker 1: being in the room last night, Yes, I think you
- 20:36Speaker 1: could see that on Donald Trump's face a.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Little bit as well. I'm not gonna lie to you, guys.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm also not a cheerleader when I see somebody out
- 20:43Speaker 1: there that you know, I wanted him to kill it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: I think it was a six and a half seven
- 20:48Speaker 1: out of ten. Do I think it's going to hurt
- 20:49Speaker 1: the ticket?
- 20:50Speaker 2: No? Do Am I worried about him picking him now?
- 20:53Speaker 4: Or No?
- 20:53Speaker 1: I also think he's better in debates than he is
- 20:56Speaker 1: at speeches, So all I care about is the VP debate.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But there were also some incredible moments in his speech
- 21:04Speaker 1: which I if you miss this, I wanted you to
- 21:06Speaker 1: hear it because I love the story of Jdvans. I
- 21:10Speaker 1: love the history of Jdvans, I love the addiction aspect
- 21:15Speaker 1: of the overcoming with his mom and his grandmother raising him.
- 21:18Speaker 1: But there was one part in the speech last night
- 21:21Speaker 1: that was truly incredible, and that was this moment in
- 21:26Speaker 1: our movement.
- 21:27Speaker 9: Ladies and gentlemen, it's about grandparents all across this country
- 21:30Speaker 9: who are living on Social Security and raising grandchildren they
- 21:34Speaker 9: didn't expect to raise. And while we're on the topic
- 21:37Speaker 9: of grandparents, let me tell you another mammal story. And
- 21:41Speaker 9: my mamma died shortly before I left for Iraq in
- 21:43Speaker 9: two thousand and five. And when we went through things,
- 21:46Speaker 9: we found nineteen loaded handguns.
- 21:49Speaker 2: They were.
- 22:05Speaker 9: Now The thing is, they were stashed all over her house,
- 22:10Speaker 9: under her bed, in her closet, in the silverware drawer,
- 22:15Speaker 9: and we wondered what was going on. And it occurred
- 22:18Speaker 9: to us that towards the end of her life, mamma
- 22:20Speaker 9: couldn't get around so well. And so this real old
- 22:23Speaker 9: woman made sure that no matter where she was, she
- 22:26Speaker 9: was with an arm's length of whatever she needed to
- 22:28Speaker 9: protect her family.
- 22:30Speaker 2: That's who we fight for.
- 22:31Speaker 5: That's American spirit.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That for me, was the highlight of JD. Vance's speech
- 22:39Speaker 1: last night. I thought it was an incredible moment. I
- 22:43Speaker 1: thought it was one that made people love him, his family,
- 22:48Speaker 1: his story. It was one of those moments that I
- 22:52Speaker 1: think people will remember. And look, there's some people that
- 22:54Speaker 1: may have heard that in thought to themselves, Hey, that's ridiculous.
- 22:59Speaker 1: No grandmother who wanted to protect at all costs her
- 23:07Speaker 1: the person that she loved the most, the people that
- 23:10Speaker 1: she loved the most. There was also another really cool
- 23:14Speaker 1: point of last night, and that was Jade Vance's wife
- 23:19Speaker 1: coming out on stage.
- 23:21Speaker 2: She's not a political person.
- 23:23Speaker 1: She is a mother firsts a wife, and she stepped
- 23:28Speaker 1: up on the stage. This is not her thing to
- 23:30Speaker 1: be a public speaker. And I always feel bad for
- 23:34Speaker 1: people that are expected to do amazing things on the
- 23:38Speaker 1: stage when it's just not what they do.
- 23:41Speaker 2: They do they're not trained for it.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Spouses and politics are treated like they are supposed to
- 23:47Speaker 1: be as good as their husband or their wife, and
- 23:49Speaker 1: I don't think that's fair. And there were people last
- 23:52Speaker 1: night that I hope she didn't screw this up. I
- 23:54Speaker 1: thought that Jade Vance's wife did an amazing job introducing
- 24:00Speaker 1: her husband to the world because there's a lot of
- 24:03Speaker 1: people that were going to watch JD for the very
- 24:05Speaker 1: very first time.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I want you to hear her introduction, Good.
- 24:14Speaker 10: Evening, Good evening. When I was asked to introduce my
- 24:20Speaker 10: husband JD vance to all of you, I was at
- 24:23Speaker 10: a loss. What could I say that hasn't already been
- 24:27Speaker 10: said before? After all, the man was already the subject
- 24:31Speaker 10: of Ron Howard movie. JD has shared much of his
- 24:38Speaker 10: life through his own eloquent words in his book He'll
- 24:42Speaker 10: Billy Elogy. During his Senate campaign and now as a
- 24:46Speaker 10: City United States Senator, it occurred to me that there
- 24:51Speaker 10: was only one thing to do, to explain from the
- 24:55Speaker 10: heart why I love and admire JD and stand here
- 24:59Speaker 10: beside him today, and why he will make a great
- 25:03Speaker 10: Vice President of the United States. I met JD in
- 25:15Speaker 10: law school when he was fresh out of Ohio State,
- 25:18Speaker 10: which he attended with the support of the GI Bill.
- 25:21Speaker 10: We were friends first, because I mean, who wouldn't want
- 25:24Speaker 10: to be friends with JD. He was then as now,
- 25:28Speaker 10: the most interesting person I knew, A working class guy
- 25:33Speaker 10: who had overcome childhood traumas that I could barely fathom
- 25:36Speaker 10: to end up at Yale Law School, a tough marine
- 25:40Speaker 10: who had served in Iraq, but whose idea of a
- 25:43Speaker 10: good time was playing with puppies. And watching the movie Babe,
- 25:50Speaker 10: the most determined person I knew, with one overriding ambition
- 25:55Speaker 10: to become a husband and a father, and to build
- 25:58Speaker 10: the kind of tight knit family that he had longed
- 26:01Speaker 10: for as a child. My background is very different from JD's.
- 26:07Speaker 10: I grew up in San Diego, in a middle class community,
- 26:16Speaker 10: with two loving parents, both immigrants from India, and a
- 26:20Speaker 10: wonderful sister that Jad and I could meet at all,
- 26:25Speaker 10: let alone fall in love and Mary is a testament
- 26:28Speaker 10: to this great country. It is also a testament to JD,
- 26:42Speaker 10: and it tells you something about who he is. When
- 26:46Speaker 10: JD met me, he approached our differences with curiosity and enthusiasm.
- 26:53Speaker 10: He wanted to know everything about me, where I came from,
- 26:56Speaker 10: what my life had been like. Although he's a meat
- 27:00Speaker 10: and potatoes kind of guy, he adapted to my vegetarian
- 27:03Speaker 10: diet and learned to cook food from my mother Indian food.
- 27:09Speaker 10: Before I knew it, he had become an integral part
- 27:13Speaker 10: of my family, a person I could not meant could
- 27:16Speaker 10: not imagine living without. The JD I knew then is
- 27:21Speaker 10: the same JD you see today, except for that beard
- 27:26Speaker 10: and his goals in this new role are the same
- 27:30Speaker 10: that he has pursued for our family, to keep people safe,
- 27:35Speaker 10: to create opportunities, to build a better life, and to
- 27:38Speaker 10: solve problems with an open mind. It's safe to say
- 27:43Speaker 10: that neither JD nor I expected to find ourselves in
- 27:46Speaker 10: this position. But it's hard to imagine a more powerful
- 27:50Speaker 10: example of the American dream a boy from Middletown, Ohio.
- 28:07Speaker 1: You know, I got to say that I thought that
- 28:10Speaker 1: her explaining who he is and explaining what he stands
- 28:17Speaker 1: for and where he came from was one of the
- 28:21Speaker 1: most powerful moments of the night from someone that's like, look,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I married him, I love him, I want to support him,
- 28:30Speaker 1: And it was very real. It came across very authentic,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I think in the hall, and I think it translated
- 28:37Speaker 1: on TV. It excited me for his family and the
- 28:42Speaker 1: story of where he came from is an important one.
- 28:46Speaker 1: It's going to relate to many different people, and I
- 28:51Speaker 1: got to say that was one of my highlights I
- 28:54Speaker 1: think last night in the convention hall, was listening to
- 28:57Speaker 1: her introduce her husband that she's clearly so proud of
- 29:01Speaker 1: and the father of our children is so proud of.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I love it.
- 29:06Speaker 1: These are the type of stories that I think we
- 29:08Speaker 1: as conservatives need to just enjoy and be excited at
- 29:13Speaker 1: the age of JD.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Van's and mean, he's younger than I am, for goodness sakes.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And I never get to say that, and I just
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'm rooting for them. I love the fact that he
- 29:22Speaker 1: is this type of individual with small kids that can
- 29:25Speaker 1: relate to the family's real issues in America today, whether
- 29:29Speaker 1: it's public education, whether it's just paying for things with kids,
- 29:33Speaker 1: the cost of living, these are things that he brings
- 29:36Speaker 1: the ticket because of his age and his wife and
- 29:40Speaker 1: their family.
- 29:42Speaker 2: That is incredible.
