- 0:00John chapter 13 Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus
- 0:04knowing that his hour had come, that he would depart out of this
- 0:06world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the
- 0:09world, He loved them to the end. During supper, the devil having
- 0:13already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of
- 0:16Simon, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had
- 0:19given all things into His hands and that he had come forth from
- 0:22God and was going back to God, got up from supper and laid
- 0:26aside his garments, and taking a towel, he girded himself.
- 0:30Then he poured water into the basin and began to wash the
- 0:33disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel with which he was
- 0:36girded. So he came to Simon Peter.
- 0:39He said to him, Lord, do you wash my feet?
- 0:42Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you do not realize
- 0:45now, but you will understand hereafter.
- 0:49Peter said to him, Never shall you wash my feet.
- 0:52Jesus answered him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with
- 0:55me. Simon Peter said to him, Lord,
- 0:58then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.
- 1:01Jesus said to him, He who has bathed needs only to wash his
- 1:04feet, but is completely clean, and you are clean, but not all
- 1:09of you, for he knew the one who was betraying him.
- 1:11For this reason he said, not all of you are clean.
- 1:15So when he had washed their feet and taken his garments and
- 1:18reclined at the table again, he said to them, Do you know what I
- 1:21have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord,
- 1:24and you are right, for so I am. If I then the Lord and the
- 1:28Teacher washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's
- 1:32feet. For I gave you an example that
- 1:35you also should do as I did to you.
- 1:37Truly, truly. I say to you, a slave is not
- 1:39greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the
- 1:43one who sent him. If you know these things, you
- 1:45are blessed if you do them. I do not speak of all of you.
- 1:49I know the ones I have chosen, but it is that the Scripture may
- 1:52be fulfilled. He who eats my bread has lifted
- 1:55up his heel against me. From now on, I am telling you
- 1:58before it comes to pass, so that when it does occur, you may
- 2:01believe that I am He. Truly, Truly, I say to you, He
- 2:05who receives whomever I send receives me, and he who receives
- 2:09me receives him who sent me. When Jesus had said this, he
- 2:13became troubled in spirit and testified and said, Truly,
- 2:16truly, I say to you, that one of you will betray me.
- 2:19The disciples began looking at one another, at a loss to know
- 2:22of which one he was speaking. There was reclining on Jesus
- 2:26bosom, one of his disciples whom Jesus loved.
- 2:29So Simon Peter gestured to him and said to him, Tell us who it
- 2:32is of whom he is speaking. He, leaning back thus on Jesus
- 2:36bosom, said to him, Lord, who is it?
- 2:39Jesus then answered, That is the one for whom I shall dip the
- 2:43morsel and give it to him. So when he had dipped the
- 2:46morsel, he took and gave it to Judas the son of Simon Iscariot.
- 2:50After the morsel, Satan then entered into him.
- 2:53Therefore Jesus said to him, What you do, do quickly.
- 2:57Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose
- 3:00he had said this to him. For some were supposing, because
- 3:03Judas had the Money Box, that Jesus was saying to him, buy the
- 3:06things we have need of for the feast, or else that he should
- 3:09give something to the poor. So after receiving the morsel,
- 3:12he went out immediately, and it was night.
- 3:15Therefore, when he had gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of
- 3:18Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
- 3:21If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself
- 3:25and will glorify him immediately.
- 3:28Little children, I am with you. A little while longer you will
- 3:31seek me. And as I said to the Jews, now I
- 3:33also say to you, where I am going, you cannot come.
- 3:37A new commandment I give to you that you love one another, even
- 3:41as I have loved you that you also love one another.
- 3:45By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you have
- 3:49love for one another. Simon Peter said to him, Lord,
- 3:53where are you going? Jesus answered, where I go, you
- 3:56cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.
- 4:00Peter said to him, Lord, why can I not follow you right now?
- 4:03I will lay down my life for you. Jesus answered, Will you lay
- 4:07down your life for me? Truly, truly.
- 4:10I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you deny me 3 times.
