- 1:45Speaker 1: turn turn water wan go comy, come on your back
- 1:59Speaker 1: at uh huh, I saw, well, good morning everybody. You
- 2:05Speaker 1: are listening to the voice? Come on dig me now
- 2:08Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show, Yeah man,
- 2:13Speaker 1: got one. Hey. You know, um, I thought I think
- 2:17Speaker 1: of my life in terms of blessings. You know. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: take mostly a positive approach and a positive spin to
- 2:23Speaker 1: my life. I hardly ever dweil on. Uh you know
- 2:28Speaker 1: the what's well. I can't say that I don't think
- 2:30Speaker 1: about the what's wrong in it because I have to,
- 2:33Speaker 1: because I have to address problems as they arise. But
- 2:36Speaker 1: I try not to let them consume me. I let
- 2:40Speaker 1: the consumption part be about the blessings. The positive things
- 2:45Speaker 1: that has occurred in my life, the good things that
- 2:48Speaker 1: God has done for me, the power that He's displayed
- 2:52Speaker 1: in my life, the protection he's given me over the years,
- 2:56Speaker 1: to being tucked under his wings. I focus on the
- 2:59Speaker 1: things that He promises me. I think of all all
- 3:03Speaker 1: the goodness that I perceived to come my way, and
- 3:06Speaker 1: I think that has a lot to do with me
- 3:08Speaker 1: learning more and more about the law of attraction in
- 3:11Speaker 1: terms of you know, what you think and what you
- 3:14Speaker 1: put out in the space, and what you pray about
- 3:17Speaker 1: is what you receive, you know, And so I've become
- 3:20Speaker 1: better and better at that. It's not to say that
- 3:23Speaker 1: I'm I'm not human and I don't have moments where
- 3:27Speaker 1: I think a little bit too long about what's going
- 3:30Speaker 1: wrong and what enemy is is about to attack and
- 3:33Speaker 1: what they're gonna do and saying and all of this
- 3:35Speaker 1: his That's not to consay that I'm not concerned about it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: But I try to duel mostly on the positive. And
- 3:42Speaker 1: one of the things that I learned, you can have
- 3:45Speaker 1: an incredible life, all of you, all of us. We
- 3:49Speaker 1: can have incredible lives if we just let God drive
- 3:54Speaker 1: See the problem that I had years ago was. I
- 3:59Speaker 1: was the dryiver of my life, and I was taking
- 4:02Speaker 1: myself in the directions that I thought would be best
- 4:06Speaker 1: for me. And I aimed at things that I thought
- 4:10Speaker 1: I could accomplish, and I set goals that I saw
- 4:14Speaker 1: myself being able to attain. I was driving when I
- 4:19Speaker 1: gave up and I let God drive. I then opened
- 4:23Speaker 1: up my mind and my spirit to what God had
- 4:28Speaker 1: for me, for what God could see for me, for
- 4:31Speaker 1: what God could do in my life, well, for what
- 4:34Speaker 1: God wanted for me. Now he wanted for me and
- 4:40Speaker 1: he wanted of me. See, that's the connection that you
- 4:43Speaker 1: got to try to make. Well, not try, that's the
- 4:46Speaker 1: connection that you gotta make to really get it. Now,
- 4:49Speaker 1: Listen to me. What I don't want you to do
- 4:51Speaker 1: is do like me. Don't be afraid of the what
- 4:54Speaker 1: for of the what he wants you to do part see,
- 4:58Speaker 1: because that ain't gonna be nearly demanding and and as
- 5:01Speaker 1: offsetting as you think it's gonna be. See, I thought
- 5:04Speaker 1: that if I did God's will, that if I let
- 5:07Speaker 1: God tell me what to do, that it would cause
- 5:10Speaker 1: me to not to be able to do a certain
- 5:13Speaker 1: some things I wanted to do well, which is true.
- 5:15Speaker 1: But the stuff I wanted to do was all detrimental
- 5:18Speaker 1: to my well being and my future and my and
- 5:21Speaker 1: my growth and development as a man. I was stopping
- 5:24Speaker 1: my own growth as a man, because see, I was
- 5:27Speaker 1: doing what I thought I should do as a man.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But when you give it over to God, to God
- 5:32Speaker 1: has a much better plan for you than you can
- 5:34Speaker 1: ever have for yourself. And God knows a better way,
- 5:37Speaker 1: far better than the one you know. I want you
- 5:39Speaker 1: to believe that, Man, you gotta understand that part of it.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And and that's the part that I finally got through
- 5:44Speaker 1: my head to let God do it his way and
- 5:47Speaker 1: to show me a better way, and to teach me
- 5:51Speaker 1: a better way and exposed to me a better way.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And when I opened up my mind to what God
- 5:56Speaker 1: was talking about, I began to see things totally differently.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And things started coming to me totally differently. If you've
- 6:05Speaker 1: been a friend of mine or a fan of mine
- 6:08Speaker 1: over the years, I mean, you've had to see it,
- 6:10Speaker 1: the change. You've had to see the difference, I mean,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and I and I acknowledge that every chance I get,
- 6:17Speaker 1: because I promised God I would, and I hope that
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm not falling short in that category. But then again,
- 6:23Speaker 1: if I told it all day long, would he done
- 6:26Speaker 1: for me? I still wouldn't have enough time to really
- 6:28Speaker 1: explain thoroughly what he's done for me, because it's such
- 6:32Speaker 1: a continuous growth in me. But now that's not to
- 6:36Speaker 1: say that I'm finished or I'm done or I'm complete,
- 6:40Speaker 1: because I'm still short. And that's the cold thing about it. Man. See,
- 6:45Speaker 1: no matter how good you get at it, you ain't
- 6:47Speaker 1: gonna ever be the best you can be. You just not,
- 6:51Speaker 1: because you're gonna fall short. You can't be him. You
- 6:54Speaker 1: can strive for perfection. I hear people saying it all
- 6:57Speaker 1: the time. I applaud you for saying you want to
- 6:59Speaker 1: be perfect, but you ain't and you can't and you're
- 7:02Speaker 1: not and you aren't and you won't and you will not.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And so you quit saying it. You quit saying it
- 7:09Speaker 1: to me, quit saying it to other people. I'm seeking
- 7:13Speaker 1: a life of perfection, but it's something that you cannot
- 7:16Speaker 1: have because he said you can't do it. But that's
- 7:19Speaker 1: what he'd as for, he'd have for the moments when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you stumble and you fall, and you go stumble and fall.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So you gotta get that part right, man, to stumbling
- 7:27Speaker 1: falling part is coming. But see, you get God in
- 7:30Speaker 1: your life and it helps you so that you don't stumble, fall,
- 7:34Speaker 1: wallow roll over, laid their languish. That's what God is for.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So when you stumbling fall, you get back up because
- 7:42Speaker 1: you're going to make mistakes. You're going to get it wrong.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You're going to come under attack, You're going to be
- 7:49Speaker 1: lied about. You are going to be falsely accused. That's
- 7:53Speaker 1: going to happen to you. The moment you make a
- 7:56Speaker 1: decision to do better, the moment you try to be more,
- 8:00Speaker 1: the moment you try to get it right. The devil
- 8:03Speaker 1: got to send his attackers man, and he controls certain people.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He just got people as on his side. Seven. You
- 8:11Speaker 1: know him too. You you've all met one or two
- 8:13Speaker 1: of men your life. They're just busy with the business
- 8:16Speaker 1: of nothingness. They're just busy about the about the destruction
- 8:21Speaker 1: of others. You said, I know him, you know him.
- 8:23Speaker 1: They're coming. But here's what you gotta hold fast too.
- 8:28Speaker 1: They can't take away nothing from you that God gave you.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They didn't make you. See people who claim to have
- 8:35Speaker 1: made you, if they're so in to make you business,
- 8:39Speaker 1: why don't they make theirselves or if they ain't with
- 8:42Speaker 1: you no more, and they're so busy in them. I
- 8:44Speaker 1: made you business, why don't they make somebody else? Since
- 8:49Speaker 1: since you want to get credit from making somebody make yourself,
- 8:54Speaker 1: if you're responsible for someone else's success, then you should
- 8:58Speaker 1: easily be able to take claim and be responsible for
- 9:00Speaker 1: your own success. See, be careful of that. And don't
- 9:04Speaker 1: and and don't don't change your course because somebody is
- 9:07Speaker 1: attacking you with that. You keep doing what you're doing.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I just hope, man, that I'm giving it to God
- 9:13Speaker 1: the way I said I would give it to him,
- 9:15Speaker 1: that I would unload every chance I got that I
- 9:18Speaker 1: was supposed to without being you know, or here he
- 9:21Speaker 1: come again? You know. I try not to be that,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but man, I don't know what else to be for
- 9:25Speaker 1: the first twelve minutes of my show. What else you
- 9:27Speaker 1: want me to say? I got four hours. I can't
- 9:29Speaker 1: give God twelve twelve minutes, man, I mean for real, Steve,
- 9:33Speaker 1: come on, man, I mean, let's look at this right here.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It's like, for example, it's like detox in your body,
- 9:39Speaker 1: which is one of the most healthy things you can
- 9:41Speaker 1: do for your body is to detox your system and
- 9:43Speaker 1: clean out the pipes and the liver and the blood
- 9:46Speaker 1: and get it all together, give your kidneys a break
- 9:48Speaker 1: and all like this. Okay, right, okay, But to detox
- 9:51Speaker 1: it properly it takes twenty one days, right. And I
- 9:54Speaker 1: hear a lot of people telling my twenty one days
- 9:56Speaker 1: I ain't got. But see, hold up, man, if the
- 9:59Speaker 1: twenty one day easy out of three hundred sixty days
- 10:03Speaker 1: a year, you ain't got twenty one to straighten yourself out.
- 10:07Speaker 1: You ain't got twenty one days to give yourself a
- 10:09Speaker 1: better shot at health. I mean that that's crazy to me,
- 10:12Speaker 1: once you wrap your mind around it. See, And so like,
- 10:16Speaker 1: if you're giving honor to God just twelve minutes out
- 10:19Speaker 1: the day, dog, he gave you twenty four hours of
- 10:23Speaker 1: luxury and life and breath and hope and promise that
- 10:26Speaker 1: you ain't got twelve minutes to give him out the day.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That don't make no sense. What an exchange, What a
- 10:32Speaker 1: wonderful life God has given me in exchange for so
- 10:35Speaker 1: small of effort that I put forth. Don't let the
- 10:38Speaker 1: effort you gotta put forth to God seems so dawning
- 10:40Speaker 1: that you don't attempt to do it because man, it
- 10:43Speaker 1: seems like a lot. It ain't nothing to compared to
- 10:45Speaker 1: what he'd be given us for real. So if you
- 10:47Speaker 1: want a real life, you want a real shot at
- 10:49Speaker 1: what you can be, what you can have, what you
- 10:51Speaker 1: can own, what you can become who you really are,
- 10:54Speaker 1: go to God. Let him fix you, man, that's all. Yeah, Yeah, yeah,

- 17:40Speaker 1: We have got to get Tiger Woods. Something white. I
- 17:43Speaker 1: don't care if it's a white woman, a white tea,
- 17:46Speaker 1: a little white lie. I don't know. I don't care
- 17:48Speaker 1: if we get him an albino. He just needs something white.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Did y'all see the video? I just saw the video. Yeah,
- 17:59Speaker 1: the the field sobriety tests, worst feel sobriety tests ever
- 18:02Speaker 1: done with no alcohol. I've never seen nobody fall off
- 18:06Speaker 1: the white line that long. Then he missed his nose.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But he was set up, y'all. I'm telling you he
- 18:12Speaker 1: was set up because any time and the officer asked
- 18:15Speaker 1: you to say your A, B c's without singing what
- 18:21Speaker 1: what what? What school did you go to? When you
- 18:27Speaker 1: can't say your A, B C. That's not an adult
- 18:30Speaker 1: living who can't say what I'm saying. If he didn't
- 18:34Speaker 1: tell me, what do I do? When they get the
- 18:36Speaker 1: elemental elemental element you know said elemental pe When I'm
- 18:42Speaker 1: saying it, that dude, he was set up. It's not fair,

- 18:58Speaker 1: We have got to get him back and take all
- 19:01Speaker 1: the white women from him, and you check, you can't
- 19:04Speaker 1: do it. They cannot take that many white women from
- 19:08Speaker 1: a black man and expect him to do well, really well.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Look what he was doing with the white women, really
- 19:16Speaker 1: good outstanding. You know what green jacket black you mean
- 19:21Speaker 1: green jacket she got with nobody paying off right now,
- 19:25Speaker 1: without nobody. I'm just telling you just we've got to
- 19:29Speaker 1: get him back out there. Yeah, he just need he
- 19:31Speaker 1: definitely needs some help. White that's only needs black friends. Yeah,
- 19:38Speaker 1: that ain't help. We don't play golf that with black
- 19:41Speaker 1: You you've seen the South there on the golf course.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Just riding around the car for show for style. Yeah
- 19:47Speaker 1: we look good, real good. Take purposes for the feel sad,
- 19:53Speaker 1: but I look good to point point y'all. How many
- 20:01Speaker 1: fifties we didn't hop on the golf course? You got
- 20:04Speaker 1: white people? And did you get no shoes from the
- 20:10Speaker 1: gator to Anthony? Oh my god, you've got gold parents
- 20:14Speaker 1: with bockets none? Okay, so that's you know what's on
- 20:27Speaker 1: your mind? What we didn't get him? Some white noise?
- 20:32Speaker 1: You need some white What are you guys doing this summer?
- 20:35Speaker 1: I mean, I know we have to work, but when
- 20:37Speaker 1: you're on vacant. My best summer vacation was done time
- 20:40Speaker 1: my grandmother took us to Chicago, Illinois on the bus.
- 20:42Speaker 1: There's so much on the bus on the bus from
- 20:46Speaker 1: from Colonia, South Carolina. We cut the bus was about
- 20:52Speaker 1: two days. About two days. All our food was in
- 20:55Speaker 1: the shoe box because there was no coolers or nothing
- 20:57Speaker 1: like that. And we would dress my cousin and there
- 21:02Speaker 1: were no this was a long time ago shoo shoebox
- 21:07Speaker 1: and shox with with wax paper on landing wax paper,
- 21:11Speaker 1: and we were dressing very cute sailor outfits. I wish
- 21:19Speaker 1: I had those pictures. We went to see my cousin Francis,
- 21:24Speaker 1: who I did not know was okay, so like twenty
- 21:28Speaker 1: years ago, two days right, did you like the train
- 21:41Speaker 1: was a bus? That's my car, that's my car. That's
- 21:46Speaker 1: that's my car all the way? Yeah, what year was this? Five?
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm never sharing again. It's time for running that prank

- 30:16Speaker 1: he's in the billions now. Anyway, he's agreed to donate.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah with a B, he's agreed to donate ten million
- 30:24Speaker 1: dollars to the Compton High School. Yes, to Compton High
- 30:29Speaker 1: in order to help build a performing arts complex. The

- 31:01Speaker 1: with our national news. She is back. And did you
- 31:05Speaker 1: guys hear we talked about this earlier. I mentioned it
- 31:07Speaker 1: about phase On Love. If you don't know what love
- 31:10Speaker 1: is here very well, big Worm and Friday, I know
- 31:14Speaker 1: you guys know him. He was in the Parently with
- 31:17Speaker 1: Robert Townsend and then he's on Our Real Husband's Hollywood
- 31:21Speaker 1: with Kevin Hurt. All right, and that's yeah, that's right,
- 31:28Speaker 1: that's right. Well anyway, so that's who pase On Love. Okay, Well, anyway,
- 31:33Speaker 1: phase On has said that Snoop Snoop Dogg could have
- 31:37Speaker 1: saved Tupac's life because of his gang ties. Here it
- 31:40Speaker 1: is take a listen to this. Phase On always felt
- 31:44Speaker 1: part die. It was because the stop could have stopped
- 31:47Speaker 1: the whole thing. I mean because, like I said, Suit
- 31:50Speaker 1: was a cripsy crips Dorsey game set up a whole
- 31:55Speaker 1: changing events don't get banned to get either. So you
- 32:01Speaker 1: want a real pop story. That's why pop story's pop
- 32:05Speaker 1: will be alive today. If he had a state allies
- 32:08Speaker 1: with Stop Crosston. Everybody has a theory, everybody has something
- 32:17Speaker 1: had not come to l aid, he would still be alive. Definitely, yeah, alright,
- 32:23Speaker 1: well Vegas, right, I mean, yeah, but the whole trip
- 32:26Speaker 1: to West Coast. Yeah, well, the movie's out all eyes
- 32:30Speaker 1: on me and um, you know, Tupac was recently inducted
- 32:34Speaker 1: into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So a
- 32:36Speaker 1: lot of people are talking. You know. That strikes up
- 32:38Speaker 1: that conversation again. So people are talking about it. The
- 32:41Speaker 1: movie stars Demitrius ship Jr. It is in theaters now.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I saw the movie. Yeah, I did. He did a
- 32:47Speaker 1: great job, that young man. He really really did. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: was impressed. Yeah. Response to this, I haven't seen or
- 32:57Speaker 1: heard anything that that Snoop says. The last thing I
- 33:00Speaker 1: heard about Snoop was that he and Martha Stewart were
- 33:02Speaker 1: coming back to your show. That's it for real. I
- 33:08Speaker 1: will tell you this though, Yeah, I will tell you this.
- 33:11Speaker 1: In the movie, when Snoop's character came on screen, the
- 33:15Speaker 1: crowd went wild. Every yeah, I will say that about Yeah. Yeah, anyway,
- 33:23Speaker 1: all right, nephew, let's go. Well you know what I didn't.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't get that though. I never thought
- 33:31Speaker 1: said that. I was like, you don't understand why he said?
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yeah that that they asked him. Somebody asked him something
- 33:39Speaker 1: and that I guess that's one. You asked him a question,
- 33:42Speaker 1: you're going to get an answer, whether not whatever. I
- 33:48Speaker 1: don't know. No. Never, never he's gonna say something. I
- 33:53Speaker 1: say that about my child, he will answer a question,
- 33:58Speaker 1: give out grown main And that's what I like. It's
- 34:02Speaker 1: wrong with you in violence. I just saw a great
- 34:05Speaker 1: video where he gave out a groan a mall or
- 34:08Speaker 1: something at the airpoint where his car was being you
- 34:13Speaker 1: got trying to overcharge him or something like that, and
- 34:16Speaker 1: said some words that he shouldn't have said to a
- 34:20Speaker 1: that's what young man running the older man. Yeah, you
- 34:23Speaker 1: see that lighter man to a heavier man. When does
- 34:28Speaker 1: the time go when you older guys? Let stuff go?
- 34:32Speaker 1: I don't get I don't want to get. Let's face,
- 34:36Speaker 1: let it go. It's just two words, all right, Come on, Tom,
- 34:43Speaker 1: just the one and only the talented with national news.
- 34:47Speaker 1: How beautiful, missing trip. Thank you, good morning, everybody, good morning,

- 34:55Speaker 1: thank you, thank you so much. Back, And here we
- 34:57Speaker 1: go with the news which is always out there, isn't
- 34:59Speaker 1: it all right? Starting in Seattle, everyone, they're said to
- 35:02Speaker 1: be more questions and answers in Seattle in the wake
- 35:04Speaker 1: of yet another police killing of a black person. This
- 35:07Speaker 1: time was a black woman who was several months pregnant.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Authorities claim that when they went to thirty year old
- 35:12Speaker 1: Charline Allows apartment because the report of a burglary, Charlene Allows,
- 35:16Speaker 1: the person who called the police in the first place,
- 35:17Speaker 1: ended up shot dead by them. Cops claimed that when
- 35:20Speaker 1: they arrived at the apartment, they were confronted by a
- 35:22Speaker 1: woman holding a knife. Her family says the victim was pregnant,
- 35:25Speaker 1: clearly upset, and was holding scissors, and they say she
- 35:28Speaker 1: didn't charge a police or anything. That neither her children
- 35:30Speaker 1: who were in the apartment, nor the police involved in
- 35:32Speaker 1: her killings were hurt, So they're still trying to figure out,
- 35:35Speaker 1: why did you shoot her dead. The American college student
- 35:39Speaker 1: released by North Korea after spending seventeen months of attention
- 35:42Speaker 1: in that country has died. The parents of Auto Warmiest

- 35:50Speaker 1: say that quote tortuous treatment of their son at the
- 35:52Speaker 1: hands of North Korea is the reason he's dead. And
- 35:55Speaker 1: Donald Trump agreed. He spent a year and a half
- 35:57Speaker 1: in North Korea. A lot of bad things happened, but
- 36:01Speaker 1: at least we got them home to be with his parents,
- 36:03Speaker 1: where they were so happy to see him. Even though
- 36:07Speaker 1: he was in very tough condition. Arm Here had been

- 36:19Speaker 1: have only two weeks to meet the deadline they set
- 36:22Speaker 1: up for themselves to vote and pass the new healthcare bill. However,
- 36:25Speaker 1: Democrats and even some Republicans are criticizing what's going on
- 36:28Speaker 1: because they say the GOP leadership is putting the whole
- 36:31Speaker 1: thing together in secret, and legislators don't even know what's
- 36:33Speaker 1: in it. Okay. Voting starts this morning in Georgia for
- 36:37Speaker 1: the special election to fill the congressional seat left behind
- 36:40Speaker 1: by Tom Price, who was now President Trump's Health and
- 36:42Speaker 1: Human Services Secretary. It's an area that Trump barely won
- 36:46Speaker 1: in the election, so Democrats are hoping to flip it.
- 36:48Speaker 1: They poured a lot of money in there, but so
- 36:49Speaker 1: have Republicans. The prosecutor and the Bill caused me sexual

- 51:07Speaker 1: to be some for smitty man. Uh, sir, you don't
- 51:10Speaker 1: have to refrain from using that language. Is no, no, no, no.
- 51:13Speaker 1: They're telling me that you aren't able to insure me. Man.

- 55:05Speaker 1: Arizona can typically typically handle the heat right, but temperatures
- 55:10Speaker 1: this week are expected to be hot enough to ground
- 55:12Speaker 1: planes at Sky Harbor Airport. Temperatures and Phoenix could top
- 55:17Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty degrees. Whoa, that's this week and
- 55:23Speaker 1: they're gonna break all time records. Yes, yes, you should
- 55:26Speaker 1: live there. You know why. You could take your food

- 55:35Speaker 1: have nothing. I'm just hey, I'm there, I'm booking the flight.

- 55:47Speaker 1: who are booked on flights scheduled to depart between three
- 55:49Speaker 1: and six pm about the possibility of their flights being
- 55:53Speaker 1: delayed because planes are not allowed to take off in
- 55:56Speaker 1: temperatures of a hundred and twenty degrees. Yes, that is crazy, right,
- 56:01Speaker 1: that's crazy. I've never heard that before. That is so crazy.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Oh my god, hundred and twenty degrees to walk around naked.
- 56:10Speaker 1: You really should have to write. I'm just saying, all right,
- 56:14Speaker 1: we'll be back at the top of the hour with
- 56:16Speaker 1: your favorite jam and with your strawberry letter. You're listening
- 56:19Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. All right, let's get
- 56:23Speaker 1: ready for it. Y'all ready? Yeah, yeah, Blome, are you here,
- 56:28Speaker 1: I'm ready, bulcome up, Hold on tight, we got it
- 56:30Speaker 1: by you saw my dad's wilding out in Mexico. That's
- 56:37Speaker 1: the subject today, exactly, nephew, David Shirley. I'm twenty five
- 56:45Speaker 1: years old and my emotionally fragile dad. It's fifty six. Recently,
- 56:51Speaker 1: my dad had a midlife crisis and quit his federal
- 56:54Speaker 1: job and moved to Mexico. At first, he was partying
- 56:58Speaker 1: and having wild sescope aids sex capades daily, and after
- 57:02Speaker 1: doing this for about five months, he called to tell
- 57:05Speaker 1: me that he fell in love and he's getting married.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Despite his foolishness, I was happy for him until I
- 57:16Speaker 1: found out that his fiance is twenty two years old,
- 57:19Speaker 1: she has four kids and they communicate through an app.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Then she speaks no English and he speaks no Spanish.
- 57:27Speaker 1: The worst part is that she was a prostitute and
- 57:30Speaker 1: that's how they met. Then he confessed, I love it.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Then he confessed that he spent his entire four oh
- 57:40Speaker 1: one k on her and her friends at a strip club.
- 57:45Speaker 1: He plans to marry this woman, leave her four kids
- 57:49Speaker 1: in Mexico, and move home to live with my grandma
- 57:52Speaker 1: for a year. I called my grandma and told her everything.
- 57:57Speaker 1: The wedding was scheduled for last week, but had to
- 57:59Speaker 1: be phoned because he found out that his name is
- 58:02Speaker 1: misspelled on his birth certificate. I praised God for intervening.
- 58:08Speaker 1: My dad thinks they're in love, but I'm afraid that
- 58:11Speaker 1: once this girl get what she wants, gets what she wants,
- 58:14Speaker 1: she'll leave my dad. I love my dad too much
- 58:17Speaker 1: to watch him be this stupid. What can I do
- 58:20Speaker 1: to stop this? Please help me? I mean, thank you, Neview,
- 58:27Speaker 1: thank you so much for adding some color to this craziness.
- 58:31Speaker 1: All right, Um, I really don't think there's anything you
- 58:34Speaker 1: can do because your your dad is certainly old enough
- 58:36Speaker 1: to know better. He's just not doing better. He knows, um,
- 58:40Speaker 1: even though you did say he was emotionally fragile. Uh.
- 58:44Speaker 1: The sad part is there's nothing you can do. It's
- 58:47Speaker 1: he's a grown man. I know he's your dad and
- 58:50Speaker 1: you love him and you want to help. But he's
- 58:52Speaker 1: making his own choices right now, albeit very bad, bad choices.
- 58:58Speaker 1: But he's not listening to you. He's not listening to anyone.
- 59:02Speaker 1: And I doubt very seriously if he's going to be
- 59:04Speaker 1: able to move in with Grandma, with this woman who
- 59:07Speaker 1: used to be a hooker. And all of that. Uh,
- 59:10Speaker 1: he's just not making smart decisions right now. His life
- 59:13Speaker 1: is in a downward spiral, although he doesn't know it yet.
- 59:16Speaker 1: The best you can do right now is just to
- 59:18Speaker 1: keep praying and hoping that God continues to intervene when
- 59:22Speaker 1: he did when he uh, you know, has something to do,
- 59:25Speaker 1: you think with the misspelling of his name on the
- 59:27Speaker 1: birth certificate. But this is this is really crazy. I mean,
- 59:30Speaker 1: your dad's throwing his whole life away on this woman.
- 59:34Speaker 1: And he already threw his retirement away. So you gotta
- 59:38Speaker 1: keep him in prayer because he's a grown man. You
- 59:40Speaker 1: have to keep him in prayer. Jay, What you got?
- 59:42Speaker 1: I like the math on this. The math is how
- 59:44Speaker 1: old is he? He's fifty six in the ladies Home,
- 59:47Speaker 1: she's twenty two six? Goes into twenty too? How many times?
- 59:52Speaker 1: Many times as he can? That's what rights see is
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: many times is Papa can't do it? Papa do? Papa? Don't?

- 1:09:02Speaker 1: listen instagram me your thoughts at my girl Shirley. Okay,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: this today's letter. My dad is wilding out and make
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: let's take a right turn. Switch some gears here. Um
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: you know the actor Rehearsala Ali who's on How Surprised
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Moonlight and all that. Um, well, anyway, he has Grace
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: the cover of g q's latest issue. Can't wait to
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: pick that up. So dad has got a problem. But
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: now you like this, Okay, okay, it's all about rehearsal
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: a right about that. In the article, he discussed race
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: in America how he's learned at a young age that
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: his blackness was something people feared. He explained how growing
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: up he would catch people hiding their rings from him
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: in the subway. He said, those experiences that you had
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: from age ten, when you start getting these little messages
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: that you are something to be yard And even though
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: he's a celebrity, uh me Herchela said that he still
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: deals with racial profiling, especially with the Hebrew and a
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Muslim name uh in case you didn't know, Merchela is
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: Hebrew and is actually short for I can't even go there.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: But despite his all of his experiences, UM, he still
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: has high hopes for this country. He says he thinks
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: African Americans have a very convoluted relationship with patriotism. The
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: fact is we essentially were the abused child. We still
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: love the parents, but you can't overlook the fact that
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: we have a very convoluted relationship with the parents. I
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: absolutely love this country, but like so many people, have
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: some real questions and concerns about how things have gone
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: down over the years and where we are uh and
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: from from a place of love. That's from a place
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: of love, he says, because I want the country to
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: be what it says it is on paper because everybody
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: he runs into that. No, he's a movie star, so
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: he still gets profile. I either his name is a
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Hebrew name, yeah, Merschela, he said, but on the elevator
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: when it's just him, he's still a black name. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: So pick up the latest issue of g Q. He's
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: on the cover and read more of this article from Herchela.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: I know, but daddy can't have nobody. Okay, I love that.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I can't go to Mexico and Mexic But it's my
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: herschela get in my head. Somebody didn't call him Herschel
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: speaking of herschel life. You guys been watching House of Cards.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: I'm only I'm doing. Yeah, I'm on the beans right now.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Y'all watching that house. Well, it's kind of hard to
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: watch because it's kind of like Francis Underwood, Donald Trump
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: kind of yeas to be all right, listen, we'll be
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: back with some stuff that happens to us when we
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: were kids. We'll be back after this song. You're listening
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. All right, so the
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: majority of us are all of us have kids on
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: this show? Junior you're you're a great You're a great nephew,
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: You're a great uncle to your nephews. Well listen to
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: this guy's. According to a recent survey, millennials buy a
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: lot of stuff online, and that certainly proves to be true.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: And they don't step into the brick and mortar buildings
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: anymore like we do. They buy it all online. Amazingly,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: more than half of their total purchases last year were
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: made online, more than half. So they might buy most
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: things online, but what they don't buy everything online? Sixty
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: two percent said they planned to buy their next car
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: in person at a dealership. Yeah, what, I can't stand
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: the millennials careful millennial thing. We got millennials, we have,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: but we have millennial children. That's that. Then the ones
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: I'm talking about you at my house, they didn't have
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: the struggle we had. Just think you should lock them
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: all outside, just just just they don't. They didn't. They
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: don't do nothing we used to do. So entitled, they
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: didn't do anything. They don't have children. They have no choice.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Did you guys have to have chill? The floors have
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: to bros, the refrigerator, the yard. They didn't have dishwashers
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: back in the daher dishwasher, and the dog get her,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: get her what do you mean? Cigarettes right there? Run
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: upstairs and get this. Yeah, came from down the street.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: And bring me some water, yea. Or change your channel.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Change and TV channel, that's the one right there. Call
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: me wait out here for that man. You know what
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: I couldn't do back in the day to okay, So
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: when I had to wash the dishes, right, so when
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: I washed the dishes, I had to wash them, drive
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: them and put them up. If I did not put
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: them up, you're talking about that blanket and get pulled me.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Wash the dishes, dry the dishes, put the dishes up,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: sleep the floor, take the trash out, re line the
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: trash can because the plastic, mop the floor, clean out
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: the refrigerator. Wipe down all the cabinets with your old drug.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: And then let me give your mind. That got me.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Let me got me in trouble. My daddy came home
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: three days straight and I had not cut that yard.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: And then he came home late from working, like about
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: tent third m'clock at night. This is the fourth day
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: now I've been coming in. I've been coming in late
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: from track practice, so I ain't been able to really
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: really do it. Man. That's that fourth day. My daddy
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: had me in the yard at left m'clock at night
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: with a flowery got next door said, hey, what's going on.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Don't worry about what's going on over here? We cutting
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: yards tonight. Any other time when Annie Lee Brown promised
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: you behind whipping, she never forgot but you. But how
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: about when they made you think they forgot? And to
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: your point, Carla, earlier in the middle of the night,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: you're sleeping good, all of that. They come in there,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: turn those lights on, sash time to pay the power.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: But you know what we got. I didn't want my
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: whipping to add up. I don't want you to stack it.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: You know I won't mind me. Don't put the with
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: some most stuff, break my hand up. You try to
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: negotiate the discipline. Remember, did I have a tell? I
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: think I told you guys about the time that my
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: mom had the belt and she was whipping me and
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I accidentally I grabbed the belt and we were doing
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: a tug of war with the belt and I accidentally
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: let the belt go and my mom I would never know.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: It wasn't it wasn't Honestly, it wasn't, but she thought
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: it was, Oh, you're gonna knock men get hit in
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: the mount Did anybody get hit in the mount Did
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: you get popped in the mountain? And she would pop
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: me in my mouth. I said something, you never slapped
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: me or hit me? What before? My mom said you're
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: gonna make me knock you into next week and I
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: said me for Thursday. I would have made you completely. Hey, man,
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: one time I tried to defend my mama against my dad.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Worst mistake I ever made got to beating of a
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: lifetime that I was mad at her because I was
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: in here for you. Yeah, my mom, My mom pushed
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: in the stomach so hard I said something like it
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: and I didn't see the right coming. Man, I didn't
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: see it yet. Just I'm not all away. And we're
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: having this conversation because surely you started the segment off
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: we were talking about millennials talking off air, just to
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: let the audience know we we're talking off air about
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: the difference and how we raised kids today and we
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: were raised back in the day. Millennial we need are
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: so entitled. They're just sent titled. They think they're supposed
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: to have it they just think, Yeah, millennials, they don't. Yeah,
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: they don't understand hard work, how hard we had to work,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: just like we didn't understand little hard our parents work.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: The most embarrassing thing I remember going to the laundrymat
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: to watch clothes timing. You take all the dirty clothes
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: and you put them in that big sheet. You walk
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: past everybody playing to go to the Oh my god.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: And satur Days we had to clean the entire house
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: every Saturday. Everything. We can never just go outside and
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: watch car too. We have some millennials have never heard
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: what Quinn running in and out that Joe don't heard
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: that yet. They don't understand. We had a front porch
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: and there were wood steps. We had a swing on.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I had to mop the entire mopping I hate, and
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: we had to mop the I had to mop the
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: the had to do it. Yeah, you had a certain
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: amount of time. If you open that refrigerator door to
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: get what you want and get out of it. No
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: standing in that door, letting that cold out. Do you
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: remember water holes? Water? Thank you. You didn't know if
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: it was filed to turn it on, and it's a
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: trick to it. You turn it on and let thirty
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: seconds later, run for thirty in that cool water kicking
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: and all right, we'll be back after this break. You're
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. All right. Uh,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: we were just reminiscing back in the day. And you
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: know how different it is now between how we were grown,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: we were raised and how we grew up to how
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: the millennials were. They're entitled behind. They have it so good,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: they do well. You know, our audience wanted to get
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: in on it. They wanted a piece of this. Let
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: me get some of that. Yeah, okay, so let's go
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: to line one. They want to talk about it too.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Let's go to line one and talk to Terrell out
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: of tampall. Good morning, Good morning to the One Morning,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Wonderful Morning Show. I got two things the kids that
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: they have never heard of. One, don't let the street
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: lights beat you. They have never heard that strange voice
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: on the phone, gonna get off my phone. People use
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: the phone. Oh my god. They don't know where that
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: voice came from. How about this one? How about this one?
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Who are you talking to Auntie in Chicago? Chicago? You
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: talked somebody? Have you put in? You got two minutes
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: and I'm waiting on somebody from the church to call me.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: Have you ever put in an emergency call or somebody
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: and them? Oh my god, I did it one time,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: and I thought my grandmother was gonna lose her mind.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: How about just Tommy, y'all remember when the phone books
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: came out and you said, on the porch and see
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: if your name was in there. When it's storming outside,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Sit still, tommy, Tommy still does that still phone? Yeah?
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: My grandmother would hang up the phone if it started raining.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: You don't play the middle of conversations. You just hang
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: up the phone. When it was rain and the sun
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: was shining. That meant the devil was And I didn't
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: even know he was married. I did. When did you
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: never get mad? Thank you? Thank you, Chaurel. We appreciate that.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Let's go to line too, and Hesper Hesper out of
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: South Carolina Hasper. Yes. Oh hey, babe, I'm sorry. How
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: are you doing? I'm all right? You old school? Are
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: you a millennial? Um? Right? At the cusp? I just
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: turned thirty in May, but my mother is seventy. My
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: grandmother passed the other year at ninety four. So I
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: was raised old school. Okay, I had a fourteen year
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: old son last year. I put him out of my house.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: I put him on my front porch. I told him,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: you can't be respectful. If you're gonna introspect me, you
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: can sleep outside that. I made him a cut. I
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: put him a pull out there and gave me some
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Columbus covers. The neighborhood. The neighbor called the police on me.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Police came out. Yes, the police came out, talked to
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: me like I was a child, told me I was
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: a grown a woman and I should know better. Arrest
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: me in front of my four year old daughter. Yes,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: and charged me with a felony. Yes, I was on
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: the front. He was in the yard, right, he was
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: on the front the property. Yeah. Yes, there was no
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: calling the police back. Come out and help. He tired
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: to me with the felony. It cost me four thousand dollars.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I ain't be anything. I had yet lost the job
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: as a result of it. Well, no, I'm sorry, I
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: lost the job opportunity as a result of it, and
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: um I'm waiting now for it to be experienced because
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: it finally got it dismissed. But how do you know that?
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Wouldn't you do know? That neighbor wouldn't be living next
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: don't no, you do not listen. Unfortunately, I'm still I'm
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: trying to get into a place where I can buy
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: a house, I can move because I can't deal with anymore.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: But the police having out to my house so many
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: times over this, and you know, he was not in
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: any harm, in any danger. And this man is no
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: longer an officer. Within a year, he's no longer an officer.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: I don't know what happened, but nobody will let me
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: tell my side the story. Oh no, the only threat
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: you could make back in the day was I'm gonna
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: tell Big Mama. And you said that once. As a result,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: is still in my life right now, because no, there
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: was no calling the police. But yeah, yeah, my mother
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: put my nephew out. He said he didn't believe in God.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: She said, why you can't live yet? Okay. I was
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: laughing because he was holder for a whole day. He
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: called back that night. I think the Lord is real.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Let's go to like seven and talk to Tea out
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: of Texas. Hey, how are you doing? You doing all right?
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: You old school with us, My old school with you.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I wanted to put it back on your your talked
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: about the water holes. It was two streaks to the
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: water holes come on. So remember you had to get
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: out that like you said, and let the water run,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: and let the hot water run first, right right right,
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: and the foods that didn't know that they got burnt
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: by drinking the water first. But then when the cool
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: water came, you had to try to be one of
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: the first ones to drink it because you only have
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: about thirty seconds coming back. It was going back in
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: the house to get water. You didn't go back in
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: the house to get water. You couldn't go back in
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: when you when outside you was out. I had one
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: of them screen doors like we had, and they would
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: put the last on there so you couldn't. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: they could see you. But they went open the door
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: looking hook. That cat always jump on it, definitely. That's
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: so you had to fold the water holes to stop
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: the water from running. Put that. Nobody had that little nozzle.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: You never never turn it all the way out about
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: to sell your hand. Did y'all have the slipping slide?
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Did you have that with you? But it was a
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: hefty garbage bag. I remember, Jake, I remember when I
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: thought I thought you was baling when you had an
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: above the ground pool and don't don't give me start
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: if he leaves in the pooling in branches, kill yourself swimming,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: oh man, or just you know, turn on the turn
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: on the water hose and just running through in your drums.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Fun time, man, all right, moving back after these damns. Okay,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: we'll call yeah, like the calls you're listening to show.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: All right, we just got into the shop. We're reminiscing about, Yeah,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: how we grew up versus how the millennials today are
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: being raised, and their entitlement and everything and the stuff.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: The torture we had to go through. Jay, quickly, you
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: just told us to watch television. We want to punishment.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: You can't watch television. And someone said you're watching the television?
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: Said no, And then she'd feel as set to see
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: if it was hot, and that way you could tell
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: don't get hot anymore. But back in the day, they'd
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: heat up the room. Who needed a fireplace? Real quick? Okay, guys,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: my mom when I was punished, you know, when she
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: put me on punishment, I couldn't talk on the phone.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: She would take all the phone owns out the house
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: and take them to work with her, so I couldn't
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: talk on about and she was from work with her
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: briefcase and a whole bunch of phones. Not to answer
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: the phone, and then they test you and they call
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: and then if you answer, did I tell you? Yeah?
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: All right, let's go to line too and talk to Brandon.
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Our audience is here for this one today. Brandon Virginia.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: What's going on? Man? We're good man. We're reminiscing back
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: in the day. I listen right that My parents back
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: in the day was with real old schools. So my
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: mom would tell me listen for I wi you, I
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: need to take off all your clothes. I'm not going
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: to what I paid for. The worst whooping I ever
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: guy was from the next door neighbor. Because my mother
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: was sick that day, so she called the next time
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: and miss Addie she said, could you come in and
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: eat and beat and beat him? And she put one
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: on us. Man, she did. She didn't play miss Addie.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Back then, everybody could beat you. It was open season
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: on your behind. Right. Okay, we're reminiscing old school versus
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: new school. Okay, Line five, let's go to Frank out
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: of New York. Hello, Frank, right, what's frank, ain't nothing?
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Everything good? We're reminiscing, man, what you got you got?
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: I gotta them. But one of one is um. When
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: when me and my brother we were teenagers, right, so
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: my mom used to go to work and every now
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: and then we'll sneak the girls in the house, and
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: every now she would bust us. And when she come in,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: she'd be like, oh, y'all got to get up out
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: of here. Just know who still here? Yeah? This the
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: crazy part about it. Me and my brother used to
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: be a little barrissed, so try to like talk over
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: hers so thinking that the girls didn't hear her, but
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: they heard it. We'd be like, okay, mother, all right, okay,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: all right, but your girls, they don't hurt them. You
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: couldn't have comedy man coming coming less. My mama was
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: at home window. I can't come out right now, I'll
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: be out. Remember remember asking your friends to ask your
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: mama could you come out? That was really worse. Yeah.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: Uh And they would just say no, just because you
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: made your friend ask. Yeah, yeah, oh no. Now okay,
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: let's now they try to still try to today. Yeah,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Tasha tries. Okay, let's see if we can quickly get
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: one in line six Shamika out of Virginia as well, Shamaica. Yes, hey,
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: baby girl, we got real real quick twenty seconds. What
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: you got reminiscent? Okay. So I would get se with
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: anything under the sun, anything that would quote extension cords. Yes,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: could just find any of that. Hold on, Hold on
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: one second, baby, after these jams, we'll be back. You're
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: listening to show all right, All this hour we have been. Yeah,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: we've been reminiscing old school versus new school because these
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: millennials have it so good right now. They don't even
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: know what we went through to get them here. Yes
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: it is. And we were talking to Shamika online six Tommy, Yeah,
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Shamika's I think she started out with extension cord Shamiko.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, baby, running by me one more time back
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: in the day. Yes. So I was the type of
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: person that got into a lot of trouble. So when
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: it came trying to getting the punishments and the begion,
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: she would beat me with an extension cord. Um, if
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: there was a broom stick around, I would get that.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: My sick I would get that. Uh, don't let it
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: be any objects that she can throw, because I would
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: get that too. Um, I had to also go outside
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: and get my own switch. I don't know if you'll
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: remember that. Yeah, yeah, bad not coming there with another one,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: no brain back a little twig, because you would get
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: beat with that and want that's done. She would go
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: outside and get her own switch and come beat you
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: with that too. Oh yeah, or braid three together. And
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: they justified it with spare the rods for the child scripture.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: And then when they got older they didn't remember any
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: of this stuff. Yeah. Remember up, pick up your kids
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: and let them do whatever they want to do. Yeah,
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: thank you, shimick up right, they spoiled the grandkids, right, tom.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: I love my mom, I really do. I love her.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: I love the pieces. But if I could press charges,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: I would press charges right now. They beat the mess
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: out of me. Somebody ship pay. Somebody needs to go
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: to jail. Somebody to go jail for this. But look
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: how you turned out the great. Oh you knew not
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: to get in trouble. God embarrass your now we embarrass
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: our kids. Back then you could not embarrass it. My
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: good job, and come down. Never let me playing out.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: You don't went around the corner that's the neighbor house
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: and you over there even I know you. I don't
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: feed you, no man. But that was back in the day.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: But you know what today, like my daughter when she's
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: out playing with her friends and the kids and they
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: go across the street and she's like, mommy, Mr John
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: grilled steaks. It was delicious. I said, good, you ate,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: it's dinner time. Go over there with your friend. Now
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: get but you know where we couldn't put our hands
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: on the walls. Yeah everything. Yeah, you couldn't hands off
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: the wall, hands off the Remember when TV went off? Yeah,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: that time that looked dot, looked dot right at the end,
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: right before it just complete go out, it came on.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: It was that was another image on his TV to
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: the But you know what, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I looked at us today, how we were raised. I
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: just wouldn't appreciate your hard working Definitely, you know, should
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: lock these keys outside? We really respective elders all of that. Yeah,
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: all right, well that was our walkdown trip down memory lane,
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I guess, and we'll be back to yeah, close out
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: the show right after this. You're listening to the Steven Show.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: All right, here we are into the show already, last
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: break of the morning. This one went by quitty pretty quickly.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: Huh um. Yeah, Steve's out of course today, and the
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: crew is here. In case you didn't notice, Steve was
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: not here. He's out today. The crews here. But we've
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: been reminiscing for this. Yeah, he definitely needs it. We've been. Yeah,
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: we've been reminiscing um for this last hour about you know,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: just how we were basic based on how the millennials
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: we compared the two and boy boys, did you guys
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: have a dited it when you were small? Hates the
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: toilet paper roll and go? Yeah, we had, Yeah, we
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: didn't have it in but I did get in that
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: fan in the window. Don't get too close. Did you
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: eat refrigerator ice? Yes, that I deep had. You scraped
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: that out and put it in the glass and put
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: some kool aid on top of that, and that was
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: That was for the ice cream man. But we drank
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: water right out of the faucet. Oh, yeah, distilled water
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: and bottled water today soft drink it right. I got
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: water right from the water from the s and the
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: water bottle of the water bottom. Yeah, right from Michigan.
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: That's where what about the ice tre you have the
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: old with the hand, yeah, yeah, and the milk man
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: came a milk man we don't have now. We had
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: to go to the store and get Do you remember
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: going to the store a million times? Yeah? For bread
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: to go back? Yeah, but a loaf of bread, a
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: gallon of milk, a dozen eggs, and some sugar. You
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: always so weird that black people wanted white bread. We
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: grew up. It was wonder bread. Bread. When my grandmother
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: sent me to the store, she would say, I'm spending
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: on the floe. Now, don't let it be dry when
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: you get back. What spiting on the floor, now, don't
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: let it be dry when you get back. I remember
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: this break out side. Everybody's outside playing, and then the
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: old older the person would come to know, say who
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: wants to make a quarter? And about sixty kids will showing.
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: All right, let's go. We have some more phone calles.
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: We can take a couple like us before we get
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: out of here. Let's go to line four uh and
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: talk to Tracy out of Georgia. Tommy, Yes, good morning, babe.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: How you doing. I'm good. How are you well, I'm good.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: We're reminiscing we're old school. Are you new school or
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: old school? I'm old school? Talk to me what you got?
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: My grandmother raised me and whenever I would ask her
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: to go to the store, um, she would always see,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna spend on the ground and you better be back.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: The boy dry up. I've never I've never heard that.
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: I've never heard. What about the rule before you win
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: in and stug don't touch nothing, don't look at nothing,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: and don't ask. Actually, actually, Jay, back then, you could
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: actually get left in the car. Ridden you could. You
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: could get left in the car. You have any seatbelts
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: and your mom's arm was the car seat? Yes? Yes?
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: To the air bag too hard? Yes that was your
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: air bag. Oh yeah, all right, thank you, Tracy Lyne. Three,

- 1:39:43Speaker 1: You know always you always have to class clown man
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: when the show off and you don't make everybody laugh.
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Well okay, well I just think we got this was
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: third Grady. Um, I wasn't there. It was a special
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: you know young leading there that I like so much
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: where I think it made if I act stupid, you know,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: make people laugh at you're like me even more well
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: though the whole it came around winds though. While I
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: was making them laugh and they was laughing, the teacher
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: was out of the classroom. My mother was behind the wall.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: She had a tough skin leave of doum. She looked
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: at me. Okay, you finished, you finished making them laugh.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I can't tell you my mother caught one of my
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: shows in school because I wouldn't put home two shows

- 1:40:30Speaker 1: You know, whatever thing she took, she took my pants down, man,
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: and told me up right there. I mean, I had
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: my drawers and she you know, she didn't want to
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: totally humiliated me, but I had my drawers on why
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: she would know that's why that's humiliating. Brother. No, that
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: was yeah, or they would talk loud when you're on
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: the phone. Yeah, yeah, thank you. Oh my god, I
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: just didn't like my threats just made you act right,
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: My Mama told me one time, no line. She it,
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: I'll kill you because I'm tired of working, and I'll
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: do the time she said, I'll kill you. I'm tired
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: of working. And what I'll do she didn't murder? Murder?
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: I turn around and make nothing, just like man, I
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: brought you here and I'll take you out. Oh my goodness. Yeah,
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: but wait, Jake, what were you saying? Used to do
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: two shows? When I did a show in home room,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: I did a nice show then and then right after
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: nunch I had an afternoon show and Lebron caught that
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: second show. She wore me out. But look at you now,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: maybe look at you? Yeah? Oh my goodness, Wow, what
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: a day? What a day? Come on? Do you remember
