0:01
Speaker 1: I love it when we get to have a joint
0:03
Speaker 1: address to Congress, to stay of the Union and Senator
0:05
Speaker 1: Cruise and I get to do a combined podcast. Welcome
0:09
Speaker 1: it is Verdict with Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson with you,
0:11
Speaker 1: and for my audience, you're gonna hear the same show
0:14
Speaker 1: on the Ben Ferguson podcast, So welcome to you guys
0:16
Speaker 1: as well.
0:17
Speaker 2: Senator you just I'm curious for a joint address. Do
0:21
Speaker 2: you call your show Ben Ferguson with Ted Cruz.
0:24
Speaker 1: That's all right, Ben Ferguson with Ted Cruz. That's a
0:27
Speaker 1: great audible. I'm digging that right.
0:29
Speaker 3: There you go. I'm just trying to help you out.
0:32
Speaker 1: I like that. And Ben Ferguson Podcasts with Ted Cruz.
0:36
Speaker 1: We'll get a sign made, get a logo done. I'm sold.
0:40
Speaker 1: I'm sold. You just left the Joint Session Center and
0:44
Speaker 1: it was one hell of a night. If there's anything
0:46
Speaker 1: you can say, Democrats pretty much stood for nothing like
0:49
Speaker 1: it at all.
0:50
Speaker 2: Well, look, this is where doing the podcast is fun.
0:53
Speaker 2: It is twelve twenty eight in the morning. I just
0:56
Speaker 2: got got home to my DC apartment about five minutes
0:59
Speaker 2: ago and just left the State of the Union and
1:03
Speaker 2: the State of the Union. I got to say it
1:04
Speaker 2: was I think a spectacular State of the Union addressed
1:07
Speaker 2: from President Trump. It's the fifth one hees given. I
1:09
Speaker 2: think it was triumphant. I think it was positive. I
1:12
Speaker 2: think it was forward looking. I think it emphasized exactly
1:16
Speaker 2: what you and I predicted in Monday's pod that he
1:19
Speaker 2: was going to emphasize. It emphasized promises, made promises, kept
1:23
Speaker 2: the victories we've seen in the first month and a
1:26
Speaker 2: half of the presidency. But I got to say all
1:30
Speaker 2: of that was overshadowed in many ways by the utterly
1:36
Speaker 2: disgraceful behavior of the Democrats. It was something I've never
1:41
Speaker 2: seen before. It was shocking, it was disrespectful, it was defiant,
1:47
Speaker 2: it was delusional.
1:48
Speaker 3: We're gonna break it all down.
1:49
Speaker 2: We're gonna break down the best parts of the speech,
1:51
Speaker 2: the best things President Trump had to say, and we're
1:54
Speaker 2: going to talk about what it indicates that today's Democrat
1:57
Speaker 2: party stands for nothing, applat for nothing, does not cheer
2:02
Speaker 2: on America. It is something never before seen at a
2:07
Speaker 2: State of the Union address.
2:08
Speaker 3: We're going to break it down on what it means.
2:11
Speaker 1: While we may have won this election, the fight to
2:13
Speaker 1: restore our great nation is only beginning, and now is
2:16
Speaker 1: the time to take a stand, and Patriot Mobile is
2:19
Speaker 1: leading the charge. It has never been easier to switch
2:23
Speaker 1: your cell phone than in twenty twenty five. With technology,
2:26
Speaker 1: you can do it literally over the phone with a
2:29
Speaker 1: code they send you. It is amazing. But here's the
2:32
Speaker 1: reason why I use Patriot Mobile now. One I save
2:36
Speaker 1: money over what I was paying before with Big Mobile,
2:39
Speaker 1: and two, I'm no longer supporting the radical left now.
2:42
Speaker 1: I didn't realize until someone told me just how radical
2:45
Speaker 1: Big Mobile had gotten. Where they are supporting organizations that
2:48
Speaker 1: pay for abortions or supporting radical democratic causes and organizations
2:53
Speaker 1: they're helping democrats get elect it at the local, state,
2:56
Speaker 1: and national level. That is actually why over a decade
2:59
Speaker 1: ago Mobile was started and they are now America's only
3:04
Speaker 1: Christian conservative wireless provider. Now, let's talk about coverage. In
3:08
Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, you have zero problems with coverage anymore
3:12
Speaker 1: because well, Patriot Mobile uses all three major networks. What
3:16
Speaker 1: does that mean for you? It means whatever coverage you're
3:19
Speaker 1: used to now you're going to stay exactly the same,
3:22
Speaker 1: or you may even be able to improve it, but
3:24
Speaker 1: it will not be any issues when it comes to coverage.
3:27
Speaker 1: In fact, they have a coverage guarantee. But when you
3:30
Speaker 1: pay your bill, this is where the magic happens. They
3:33
Speaker 1: take a portion of your bill every month and they
3:35
Speaker 1: give it back to organizations that support our first and
3:38
Speaker 1: our second amendments that support the sanctity of life, that
3:42
Speaker 1: support our veterans, our first responders, and are wounded warriors.
3:46
Speaker 1: And like I said, switching with technology now has never
3:49
Speaker 1: been easier. You keep your same phone you have now,
3:52
Speaker 1: keep your same phone number, and you can even upgrade
3:54
Speaker 1: to a new phone if you want to. They have
3:56
Speaker 1: a one hundred percent US based customer support team to
3:59
Speaker 1: help you find the perfect plan and to save money.
4:02
Speaker 1: And if you own a business or a small business,
4:04
Speaker 1: they have a division that just works on switching multiple
4:07
Speaker 1: lines over easily. So right now, go to Patriotmobile dot
4:12
Speaker 1: com slash ferguson or call them nine to seven to
4:16
Speaker 1: two Patriot You're going to get a free month of
4:19
Speaker 1: service with the promo code ferguson. So switch the Patriot
4:22
Speaker 1: Mobile and make a difference with every call you make.
4:25
Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson or nine seven to
4:29
Speaker 1: two Patriot Senator, I want to start with what stole
4:32
Speaker 1: the show? You mentioned in a second ago, and and you,
4:35
Speaker 1: I know, probably had a mental list in your in
4:37
Speaker 1: your head. In there in the room, I was making
4:41
Speaker 1: notes on my phone and putting them out on X
4:44
Speaker 1: of all the things that Democratic lawmakers couldn't stand up
4:48
Speaker 1: to honor. It's a long list.
4:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, but look, let's start with the very beginning of
4:54
Speaker 2: the night. The very beginning of the night is when
4:58
Speaker 2: the president walks onto the the floor of the Senate
5:00
Speaker 2: and he's introduced the President of the United States, and
5:07
Speaker 2: not a single Democrat stood, not a single Democrat applauded. Now,
5:13
Speaker 2: Ben listen, I've been to thirteen State of the Union addresses.
5:16
Speaker 2: I've gone to everyone since I got elected to the Senate,
5:19
Speaker 2: and I actually loved going to the State of the Union.
5:21
Speaker 2: There's a pageantry to it, there's something amazing. It's more
5:24
Speaker 2: fun when your guys in office. It's more fun when
5:27
Speaker 2: you get to cheer on your own party. But I
5:29
Speaker 2: go go when the Democrats are in office. And I
5:32
Speaker 2: got to tell you, every single time Joe Biden walked in,
5:38
Speaker 2: every single time Barack Obama walked in, I stood up,
5:41
Speaker 2: and I applauded, not because I agreed with their agendas.
5:44
Speaker 2: Their agendas were disgraceful and disastrous, but because I respect
5:48
Speaker 2: the office a president of the United States, and I
5:50
Speaker 2: respect the American people. And I have never once seen
5:57
Speaker 2: the opposing party refused to applaud.
6:00
Speaker 3: For the president.
6:01
Speaker 2: Understand what a break with tradition that is. Even in
6:05
Speaker 2: past years, the Democrats applauded at the outset for the
6:08
Speaker 2: President of the United States until tonight and and the
6:13
Speaker 2: entire night.
6:15
Speaker 3: I guess I'm actually grumpy with the.
6:16
Speaker 2: Democrats because they've they've stolen my favorite game to play
6:20
Speaker 2: at the State of the Union, so I can't.
6:22
Speaker 1: By the way, I know this game, and that's why
6:24
Speaker 1: i'm laughing right now, because it was a great game
6:26
Speaker 1: you created years ago.
6:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, and we've talked about it in the pod before.
6:30
Speaker 2: So the State of the Union address, Look, if your
6:32
Speaker 2: party's in power, it's you know, I joke, it's it's
6:36
Speaker 2: like I actually was. I was sitting with Dave McCormick,
6:38
Speaker 2: the New Center from Pennsylvania, who's you know, an our
6:41
Speaker 2: Army veteran, and I said, all right, Dave, this is
6:43
Speaker 2: gonna be like pt in the army, get ready for
6:46
Speaker 2: Jane Fonda aerobics. You're gonna pop up and down and
6:49
Speaker 2: up and down, and imagine the Trump the President's wearing
6:51
Speaker 2: leg warmers, and you're just gonna be doing nothing but
6:54
Speaker 2: every four words, standing up and applauding.
6:56
Speaker 3: And that's what we did.
6:57
Speaker 2: I got to say, you know, my my my thighs
6:59
Speaker 2: are killing me from from from from just doing squats
7:03
Speaker 2: all night.
7:04
Speaker 1: But I want to see the stats, by the way,
7:06
Speaker 1: on your R ring. I want to know what's the
7:09
Speaker 1: what's the calorie burn during a state the longest stay
7:12
Speaker 1: of the Union ever with Donald Trump speaking, Now, that's
7:14
Speaker 1: real intel I need.
7:16
Speaker 3: So I so, I don't know.
7:17
Speaker 2: I could look at it in a second, And I
7:19
Speaker 2: don't know if they count as steps because we're not moving.
7:21
Speaker 3: We're just standing and sitting and standing in citting and
7:22
Speaker 3: standing in city.
7:23
Speaker 2: But what I like doing during the State of the
7:25
Speaker 2: Union is watching the opposing party and picking out like
7:29
Speaker 2: a couple of senators or House members and typically the
7:31
Speaker 2: more moderate ones, and watching them agonize over what to
7:35
Speaker 2: applaud or what to stand for it. In the past,
7:38
Speaker 2: you know, i'd look at like a Joe mansion and
7:41
Speaker 2: you know he he would be you know, America is great,
7:44
Speaker 2: and you'd see a few Democrats applaud for that, even
7:47
Speaker 2: stand we support the troops, and they'd kind of agonize, Oh, okay,
7:52
Speaker 2: I guess I could support the troops. But then they'd
7:54
Speaker 2: go back and forth. Tonight they stood for nothing. So
8:01
Speaker 2: they stood that. They did not stand for Joscelyn Nungery's mother,
8:09
Speaker 2: the twelve year old beautiful girl raped and murdered in
8:13
Speaker 2: Texas by illegal immigrants. They would not stand for Alexis.
8:16
Speaker 2: They did not stand for Lake and Riley's mother and sister.
8:21
Speaker 2: They did not stand for a thirteen year old kid
8:26
Speaker 2: surviving brain cancer. Like how do you not like Like, Okay,
8:31
Speaker 2: I'm a crazy partisan who hates Trump, but okay, thirteen
8:34
Speaker 2: year old kids surviving brain cancer wants to be a cop.
8:37
Speaker 3: Like I'll like.
8:39
Speaker 2: Literally every single State of the Union address that has
8:42
Speaker 2: been given from the beginning of time, every person on
8:46
Speaker 2: the floor would have stood for the thirteen year old
8:49
Speaker 2: kid or survive brain cancer. Zero Democrats stood. I looked
8:53
Speaker 2: at them. They didn't still that.
8:55
Speaker 1: I was an emotional in there because I was watching
8:58
Speaker 1: it and I got choked up watching and there was
9:00
Speaker 1: a lot of people that were texting me like, dude,
9:02
Speaker 1: I'm crying right now because when you see a little
9:05
Speaker 1: kid and how big his eyes got. You may not
9:08
Speaker 1: have been able to see it from the floor because
9:09
Speaker 1: they zoomed in, but when they said we're gonna make
9:13
Speaker 1: you an agent, his eyes got so big. He clearly
9:17
Speaker 1: didn't know what was going to happen. His dad didn't
9:19
Speaker 1: know either, and it was just one of those get
9:22
Speaker 1: a lump in your throat, choke up moments.
9:24
Speaker 3: So I will say it was emotional, but it was true.
9:27
Speaker 2: When you were in the chamber, we couldn't see the
9:30
Speaker 2: kid's facial expressions.
9:31
Speaker 3: It was just too far away that you couldn't see it.
9:33
Speaker 2: So I saw his facial expressions for the first time
9:36
Speaker 2: about a half hour ago when I did Hannity and
9:39
Speaker 2: Sean played the close up and so I could see,
9:42
Speaker 2: you know, I mean, I saw the kid and it
9:43
Speaker 2: was beautiful and we were cheering and like when you
9:45
Speaker 2: know Trump made him an honorary Secret Service agent.
9:48
Speaker 3: That was really cool.
9:48
Speaker 2: But you're right, the close up of his facial expressions
9:52
Speaker 2: was was really powerful. And he's a Texan. DJ Daniel
9:56
Speaker 2: is a Texan. You had Alexis Nungrie. It was a
9:58
Speaker 2: Texan but it was amazing. Look, the Democrats did not stand.
10:04
Speaker 1: Uh.
10:04
Speaker 2: They didn't stand for cutting taxes. They didn't stand for
10:06
Speaker 2: no taxes on tips.
10:08
Speaker 3: Uh.
10:08
Speaker 2: They didn't stand for automakers building new manufacturing plants in America.
10:14
Speaker 2: They didn't stand for steel workers that I mean, they
10:17
Speaker 2: didn't stand for border patrol agents. It was they didn't
10:21
Speaker 2: stand for a kid going to West Point whose father
10:27
Speaker 2: was a police officer killed in the line of duty,
10:31
Speaker 2: and the President admitted him to West Point stat in
10:34
Speaker 2: the middle of the speech, which was a pretty amazing
10:35
Speaker 2: moment too, Like I it was.
10:40
Speaker 3: But but I will.
10:40
Speaker 2: Say this is actually a There was one thing the
10:44
Speaker 2: entire night they stood and clapped for.
10:46
Speaker 3: You know what it was?
10:47
Speaker 2: What was that they stood and clapped for giving hundreds
10:51
Speaker 2: of billions of dollars to Ukraine.
10:53
Speaker 1: There you go. I knew there was a moment there
10:55
Speaker 1: and but the pant when the feet I saw you
10:59
Speaker 1: could hear the room get louder. But I wasn't sure
11:02
Speaker 1: if they were standing for it. And so that was
11:04
Speaker 1: the moment.
11:05
Speaker 2: So not everyone stood, but a number of them stood,
11:07
Speaker 2: A number of them pulled out Ukrainian flags. None of
11:10
Speaker 2: them had American flags, but a number of them pulled
11:12
Speaker 2: out Ukrainian flags, And I got to say, look, you
11:15
Speaker 2: could have disagreements about the war on Ukraine, but what
11:18
Speaker 2: the hell does it say about Democrats that they will
11:20
Speaker 2: cheer for Ukraine but not for America.
11:23
Speaker 1: You go back to what you said about those emotional moments.
11:26
Speaker 1: There was also moments in there that were good for
11:29
Speaker 1: the American people. Yes, and just policies. I mean, you
11:34
Speaker 1: can't clap for tax cuts. You can't clap for a
11:37
Speaker 1: secure border, which was something by the way they said
11:39
Speaker 1: that they were in favor of. Remember when they were like,
11:41
Speaker 1: well it's us that we're in favor of it. Us
11:44
Speaker 1: still workers, they couldn't clap for. They couldn't clap for
11:48
Speaker 1: you know, the I go back to the West Point
11:50
Speaker 1: for a moment. That was another emotional moment where you've
11:53
Speaker 1: got a young man that's getting into West Point who
11:56
Speaker 1: had a tragedy in his family life, and they wouldn't
11:58
Speaker 1: stand for that. The capture of terrorists, by the way,
12:03
Speaker 1: that one actually.
12:04
Speaker 2: Was responsible for murdering service thirteen servicemen and women in Afghanistan.
12:08
Speaker 2: Capturing the terrorists and they're not happy to capture the
12:11
Speaker 2: terrorist people.
12:12
Speaker 1: Look, can we play that clip because it's an important one.
12:15
Speaker 1: Just this is what the President said. It's not hard
12:19
Speaker 1: to clap for this or stand for this. It should
12:21
Speaker 1: be like a universal everyone stand moment to.
12:24
Speaker 4: The country tonight and please to announce that we have
12:28
Speaker 4: just apprehended the top terrorists responsible for that atrocity, and
12:34
Speaker 4: he is right now on his way here to face
12:36
Speaker 4: the swift sword of American justice.
12:41
Speaker 1: I mean that that was, by the way, breaking news
12:43
Speaker 1: in n nine point nine percent of the people I'm
12:45
Speaker 1: assuming in the room.
12:46
Speaker 3: Sure to me, I didn't know that to you.
12:48
Speaker 1: Okay, So I was wondering if you guys knew that before,
12:50
Speaker 1: because it seemed like that everybody was kind of caught
12:52
Speaker 1: off guard, like that was new to everyone. And yet
12:55
Speaker 1: the president says it. You can hear half the rumor
12:58
Speaker 1: up the other affic. No, no, no terrorists that kills
13:01
Speaker 1: Americans that we're bringing back to America.
13:02
Speaker 2: Nope, that's under Donald Trump. Can't and listen. I was
13:05
Speaker 2: looking over at the Democrats and repeatedly turning to the
13:07
Speaker 2: folks around me, just saying, what the hell is wrong.
13:10
Speaker 3: With these people?
13:12
Speaker 2: Look like it is how do you not cheer for that?
13:16
Speaker 2: And I think the answer is they're so filled with hate.
13:20
Speaker 2: This is now the party of hate and rage. And
13:22
Speaker 2: they hate Donald Trump, the hay Deal on Musk and
13:26
Speaker 2: and and they're just and they hate the voters that
13:30
Speaker 2: elected Donald Trump.
13:32
Speaker 4: And so.
13:35
Speaker 3: There always were points.
13:36
Speaker 2: Listen in Democrats State of the Union addresses, there have
13:39
Speaker 2: been a number of things that I applauded for. If
13:42
Speaker 2: they say something that I agree with, I happily applaud
13:44
Speaker 2: for if they, you know, anytime they talk about supporting
13:47
Speaker 2: the troops. By the way, at a State of the Union.
13:49
Speaker 2: So the Supreme Court never never applauds other than they
13:52
Speaker 2: applaud at the beginning. So the Supreme Court applauds traditionally
13:55
Speaker 2: at the President of the United States when he's introduced,
13:58
Speaker 2: and that's typically the only thing they applaud for. The
14:02
Speaker 2: Joint Chiefs they usually do the same thing. They'll applaud
14:05
Speaker 2: at the introduction of the President of the United States.
14:07
Speaker 2: But I'll tell you the Joint Chiefs. They applauded at
14:10
Speaker 2: the kid when he was admitted to West Point. And
14:12
Speaker 2: it was I noticed that the General's applauding and yet
14:15
Speaker 2: not a Democrat would, And I got to say, Ben,
14:18
Speaker 2: there was a lot in this speech to applaud for.
14:21
Speaker 2: As I said, I think this is the best speech
14:23
Speaker 2: President Trump has ever given, and so I was happy
14:26
Speaker 2: and enthusiastically applauding. Now, if you did not have two
14:30
Speaker 2: hours to listen to the speech tonight, if you didn't
14:32
Speaker 2: actually watch it, we've tried to help you out in
14:34
Speaker 2: this podcast. So we have a montage where we've selected
14:38
Speaker 2: some of the key moments of the speech. And it's
14:40
Speaker 2: a little over three minutes, so it's not very long.
14:43
Speaker 2: So if you didn't have two hours, here's three minutes
14:46
Speaker 2: that sums up the best moments from President Trump's State
14:49
Speaker 2: of the Union address tonight.
14:52
Speaker 1: I returned to.
14:53
Speaker 4: This chamber tonight to report that America's momentum is back,
14:58
Speaker 4: our spirit is back, prior is back, our confidence is back,
15:03
Speaker 4: and the American dream is surging bigger and better than
15:07
Speaker 4: ever before.
15:08
Speaker 1: How we have ended.
15:09
Speaker 4: Weaponized government where as an example, a sitting president is
15:13
Speaker 4: allowed to viciously prosecute his political opponent like me. How
15:20
Speaker 4: did that work out? Not to go? Not Within hours
15:25
Speaker 4: of taking the oath of office, I declared a national
15:28
Speaker 4: emergency on our southern border, and I deployed the US
15:32
Speaker 4: military and border patrol to repel the invasion of our country,
15:38
Speaker 4: and what a job they've done. As a result, illegal
15:42
Speaker 4: border crossings last month were by far the lowest ever
15:47
Speaker 4: recorded ever. To unshackle our economy, I have directed that
15:56
Speaker 4: for every one new regulation, ten old relations must be eliminated,
16:02
Speaker 4: just like I did in my very successful first day.
16:06
Speaker 4: And I have stopped all government censorship and brought back
16:10
Speaker 4: free speech in America.
16:12
Speaker 3: It's back.
16:15
Speaker 4: We've ented the tyranny of so called diversity, equity, and
16:19
Speaker 4: inclusion policies all across the entire federal government, and indeed
16:25
Speaker 4: the private sector and our military and our country will
16:34
Speaker 4: be worked no longer. I also signed an executive order
16:40
Speaker 4: to ban men from playing in women's sports, and in
16:46
Speaker 4: the near future, I want to do what has not
16:50
Speaker 4: been done in twenty four years, balance the federal budget.
16:54
Speaker 1: We're going to balance it.
16:58
Speaker 4: One point three million people from ages one hundred and
17:01
Speaker 4: fifty to one hundred and fifty nine and over one
17:05
Speaker 4: hundred and thirty thousand people according to the Social Security databases.
17:12
Speaker 3: Our age over one hundred.
17:15
Speaker 4: And sixty years old. We have a healthier country than
17:20
Speaker 4: I thought bobbying, including to finish one thousand and thirty
17:41
Speaker 4: nine people between the ages of two hundred and twenty
17:43
Speaker 4: and two hundred and twenty nine, one person between the
17:47
Speaker 4: age of two hundred and forty and two hundred and
17:49
Speaker 4: forty nine, and one person is listed at three hundred
17:53
Speaker 4: and sixty years of age, more than one hundred years,
17:59
Speaker 4: more than one hundred year older than our country.
18:06
Speaker 1: But we're going.
18:07
Speaker 4: To find out where that money's going, and it's not
18:10
Speaker 4: going to be pretty.
18:13
Speaker 1: I mean this speech to go back to what you
18:16
Speaker 1: said at the beginning. Number one, it did not feel long,
18:20
Speaker 1: and there's an art when you're speech writing that you
18:24
Speaker 1: want to be done before people are ready for you
18:27
Speaker 1: to be done. Yeah, this speech did not seem long.
18:30
Speaker 1: I want to know what it felt like when you
18:32
Speaker 1: were in the chamber. Number one. But two, like the
18:37
Speaker 1: President came in and just brought the heat, and I
18:40
Speaker 1: think the American people are going to respond to this.
18:43
Speaker 2: So look, I thought it was a terrific speech. As
18:45
Speaker 2: I said, it was optimistic, it was positive, it was
18:47
Speaker 2: focused on results, the results that the President has been
18:50
Speaker 2: producing and Republicans have been producing in just over forty days.
18:55
Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, it really is incredible. It was
18:58
Speaker 2: also a funny speech like that, that whole litany going
19:01
Speaker 2: through that the people on Social Security over one hundred
19:04
Speaker 2: and twenty and over two hundred.
19:05
Speaker 3: Years and over three hundred years old.
19:08
Speaker 2: Every line of it was funny. He had a whole
19:11
Speaker 2: litany he went through Doge and the wasteful spending. That
19:16
Speaker 2: was just hysterical. And by the way, we're cracking up laughing.
19:22
Speaker 2: All the Republicans, no Democrat laughed like even on the
19:24
Speaker 2: funny lines as he goes through. They support every bit
19:28
Speaker 2: of waste possible. And just across the board. Now in
19:33
Speaker 2: terms of the length, so this was the longest State
19:35
Speaker 2: of the Union in history. And I'll tell you so,
19:38
Speaker 2: I was sitting I was sitting with Tommy Tubberville from Alabama.
19:43
Speaker 2: I was sitting with Josh Holly from Missouri, and I
19:45
Speaker 2: was sitting with Dave McCormick from Pennsylvania.
19:47
Speaker 1: So how does that work? How do you decide you
19:50
Speaker 1: sit with do is it just happened organically or you
19:52
Speaker 1: guys now hang out?
19:54
Speaker 2: No, no, no, you just kind of we all all
19:56
Speaker 2: the senators gather on the Senate floor and then we
19:59
Speaker 2: walk from the Senate floor over the House floor across
20:02
Speaker 2: the Capitol, and we walk in together, and the House
20:06
Speaker 2: saves the front seats for the Senate, and so they
20:09
Speaker 2: actually give give the best seats to the Senate, which
20:11
Speaker 2: is nice, nice of the House to do. And so
20:13
Speaker 2: there are a whole bunch of seats I presume one
20:16
Speaker 2: hundred seats that are kept in the front, and they
20:19
Speaker 2: have little placards on the seats that say reserved for
20:22
Speaker 2: a senator. But other than leadership like John Thune and
20:28
Speaker 2: the elected leadership, they have seats that are reserved specifically
20:31
Speaker 2: for them. But for everyone else, it's just senator, and
20:34
Speaker 2: you can sit wherever you want. And so just as
20:36
Speaker 2: you walk in, you take the open seats. So it's
20:38
Speaker 2: a little bit happenstance. But as we were preparing, we
20:44
Speaker 2: actually had a friendly wager on.
20:47
Speaker 3: How long the speech was going to go.
20:49
Speaker 2: So I bet that it was going to go ninety
20:54
Speaker 2: three minutes, So an hour and thirty three minutes. Josh Holly,
20:58
Speaker 2: who was sitting next to me, bet it was going
21:00
Speaker 2: to go an hour and thirty seven minutes.
21:03
Speaker 1: Okay, just plan a little bit of prices.
21:05
Speaker 2: Right, little price is right, Tommy Tubberville and and uh,
21:10
Speaker 2: Dave McCormick both bet an hour and forty minutes, so
21:15
Speaker 2: we were all in the same neighborhood. And actually the
21:18
Speaker 2: one who won was Holly So so it was in
21:20
Speaker 2: fact an hour and thirty eight minutes. So I was
21:23
Speaker 2: five minutes off, but Josh was only one minute off,
21:25
Speaker 2: and if he'd got another minute, McCormick and Tubberville would
21:29
Speaker 2: have won. But but but it was so it was
21:31
Speaker 2: interesting that that that those were the four of our.
21:34
Speaker 1: How did you guys pick that number? By the way,
21:35
Speaker 1: it was it did you see enough beforehand or excerpts
21:39
Speaker 1: or themes you know, or original gut.
21:42
Speaker 3: We had not seen a text of it at all.
21:44
Speaker 2: It's just knowing Donald Trump and having been the State
21:47
Speaker 2: of the Union addresses before. Look, I mean, we knew
21:50
Speaker 2: it was going to be about an hour and a half,
21:52
Speaker 2: maybe a little bit more, and.
21:53
Speaker 3: So that uh uh, we we knew he had a
21:56
Speaker 3: lot to say.
21:57
Speaker 2: It was not going to be a short speech, and
21:59
Speaker 2: and uh, but it didn't feel long. You're right, I
22:01
Speaker 2: mean it was. There was storytelling in it. It was funny,
22:04
Speaker 2: it was relating powerful moments. And then as I said,
22:08
Speaker 2: the antics of the Democrats really look, including sadly Al Green,
22:14
Speaker 2: congressman from your in my hometown Houston, who stood up
22:19
Speaker 2: and just made a complete ass of himself.
22:21
Speaker 1: And I was going to ask you that on that one,
22:23
Speaker 1: because it played on TV like it was very clearly
22:28
Speaker 1: pre planned and for mere they don't know him. This
22:31
Speaker 1: is the guy that he's now called for turning to
22:33
Speaker 1: impeach a third time. He led impeachment first second, that's
22:36
Speaker 1: like his thing, and so as soon as the president's elected,
22:39
Speaker 1: it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, we got impeach this guy,
22:41
Speaker 1: and we're going to call for impeachment. It played on
22:44
Speaker 1: TV like it was one hundred percent pre planned by
22:47
Speaker 1: him to do that or maybe even Democratic Party. I
22:49
Speaker 1: don't know if they were involved with this is just
22:51
Speaker 1: his own brainchild. What was it like being there though.
22:55
Speaker 2: So look, I think everyone was shocked, shocked and not chocked.
22:59
Speaker 2: We expected the Democrats to misbehave and engage in antics.
23:04
Speaker 2: I didn't expect that they would refuse to applaud for anything.
23:07
Speaker 2: And I've never seen There have been a couple of
23:10
Speaker 2: instances where House members have have called out like like,
23:15
Speaker 2: have you know Joe Wilson famously said said when Obamacare
23:19
Speaker 2: said when Obama said, I think it was on Obamacare,
23:23
Speaker 2: if you want your health in church, you can keep it,
23:25
Speaker 2: and Joe Wilson famously called out, you lie. And that
23:29
Speaker 2: was a big deal that that one congressman called out
23:31
Speaker 2: two words was a big deal that people still talk
23:34
Speaker 2: about a decade later.
23:36
Speaker 1: So, by the way, the media totally freaked out the
23:38
Speaker 1: entire night afterwards, like I can't believe they do this.
23:41
Speaker 1: He shouldn't be in Congress, she resign, I mean, And
23:43
Speaker 1: then tonight nothing from the mainstream media on this one.
23:47
Speaker 2: And look he stood up, he interrupted the speech. And
23:51
Speaker 2: by the way, I don't know, could you hear what
23:53
Speaker 2: he was saying? I know we could not.
23:56
Speaker 1: Just I thought it very interesting that it looked like
23:59
Speaker 1: Speaker Johnson ready in cases happened because he looked down
24:02
Speaker 1: to read the words he was reading about the rules.
24:05
Speaker 2: So what he was saying, it's interesting what he got
24:08
Speaker 2: mad at. He got mad when Trump said I've got
24:12
Speaker 2: a mandate from the election, and Al Green stood up
24:15
Speaker 2: and he was yelling saying, you don't have a mandate,
24:17
Speaker 2: You do not have a mandate, and it was the
24:21
Speaker 2: Democrats are in absolute denial. They're in denial that the
24:25
Speaker 2: election happened. Look, the facts are straightforward.
24:28
Speaker 3: Trump.
24:29
Speaker 2: Of the seven swing states, he won all seven. He
24:33
Speaker 2: won the popular vote in this country, something that Republicans
24:36
Speaker 2: haven't done for twenty years. He won a Republican House
24:40
Speaker 2: and a Republican Senate any way you look at it,
24:43
Speaker 2: that's a mandate. And yet that's what al Green was
24:46
Speaker 2: screaming about. And he kept on screaming and interrupting the president.
24:49
Speaker 2: The president finally had to stop. I mean, he was
24:51
Speaker 2: standing right in the middle and just screaming and trying
24:54
Speaker 2: to yell over the President, and the Speaker gaveled him
24:58
Speaker 2: down and said, listen, if you don't maintain decorum, the
25:02
Speaker 2: sergeant at arms will remove you. And al Green kept
25:04
Speaker 2: on yelling, and so the sergeant at arms removed him.
25:08
Speaker 2: Uh and and by the way, the Speaker said tonight
25:10
Speaker 2: on Hannity that al Green is likely going to be
25:14
Speaker 2: censured by the House of Representatives, which which I think
25:17
Speaker 2: is unsurprising, because if you if you disturb an official
25:22
Speaker 2: proceeding like that, that's that's the natural remedy.
25:26
Speaker 1: Senator, I want to go back to one other point
25:28
Speaker 1: that that we mentioned earlier, but I think it's important
25:31
Speaker 1: to kind of expand on it. And it was a
25:34
Speaker 1: shocking moment of just either completely out of touch or
25:39
Speaker 1: this Democratic Party, I guess you could just say, is
25:43
Speaker 1: in a sense just completely lost. You had not a
25:46
Speaker 1: single Democrat appod Peyton McNabb, who suffered brain damage after
25:52
Speaker 1: a volleyball spiked by a trans person, a man that
25:57
Speaker 1: acting like a woman, ended her hopes of a cop career.
26:00
Speaker 1: That's how significant the injury was, and it made her retire,
26:06
Speaker 1: and also it took potentially like a scout, changed her
26:10
Speaker 1: life forever, and they couldn't even clap for her.
26:14
Speaker 3: No, not a Democrat clapped for not one.
26:17
Speaker 2: And by the way, just this past week, every single
26:20
Speaker 2: Democrat in the Senate voted against protecting girls from boys
26:26
Speaker 2: competing in sports, every one of them. And you know
26:29
Speaker 2: in the campaign listen, in my reelection campaign, Colin all
26:34
Speaker 2: Read claims, I don't support boys playing in girl sports. Well,
26:37
Speaker 2: every Senate and except the fact that he voted for it,
26:40
Speaker 2: over and over and over again. Every single Senate Democrat
26:43
Speaker 2: when they're on reelection campaigns, they tell the voters I
26:45
Speaker 2: don't support boys and girls sports, and yet every single
26:49
Speaker 2: one of them just voted for it, and not a
26:51
Speaker 2: one of them applauded. I mean, it's the simple reality
26:54
Speaker 2: of how extreme their party is.
26:57
Speaker 3: Now.
26:58
Speaker 2: I will tell you one thing that that was particularly
27:01
Speaker 2: meaningful to me was all the Texans whom President Trump
27:06
Speaker 2: honored a night, including Alexis Nungary, the mom of Joscelyn. Now,
27:11
Speaker 2: Alexis was going to be my guest tonight. Every senator
27:13
Speaker 2: gets one guest, and I had invited Alexis. She was
27:16
Speaker 2: coming up as my guest, and then the President invited her.
27:19
Speaker 2: So she went and she was sitting with Malania Trump.
27:24
Speaker 2: I was really grateful for the for her being invited
27:28
Speaker 2: by the President to come there. And then right next
27:31
Speaker 2: to Malania Trump was Elliston Barry. And Elliston Berry is
27:35
Speaker 2: someone also another Texan who was the inspiration for the
27:39
Speaker 2: Take It Down Act. So, Elliston Barry is a fifteen
27:41
Speaker 2: year old girl from North Texas from Aledo, who when
27:45
Speaker 2: she was fourteen and a freshman in high school, a boy,
27:49
Speaker 2: a classmate of hers, took an innocent social media picture
27:53
Speaker 2: of her and used artificial intelligence to create a deep
27:58
Speaker 2: fake kid image of her that appeared to be real
28:02
Speaker 2: but it was fake, and then sent it to her
28:04
Speaker 2: class bates and she was the inspiration for my legislation
28:08
Speaker 2: to Take It Down Act, which which passed the Senate unanimously.
28:13
Speaker 1: And by the way, how many times have you been
28:16
Speaker 1: involved in legislation that was passed unanimously in your in
28:18
Speaker 1: your career in the Senate.
28:20
Speaker 3: A lot of times.
28:22
Speaker 2: I've passed one hundred and one different pieces of legislation
28:25
Speaker 2: into law. A number of them were unanimous the Senate
28:28
Speaker 2: off And if you do the work, you can bring
28:30
Speaker 2: people together and pass something. And actually, just yesterday, the
28:35
Speaker 2: first Lady, Milania Trump came to the Capitol, first time
28:38
Speaker 2: she has this first lady the second term, supporting the
28:41
Speaker 2: Take It Down Act, and we did a round table,
28:43
Speaker 2: which we're we're gonna talk about significantly more on Friday's pod,
28:46
Speaker 2: but we did a round table where Milania Trump heard
28:49
Speaker 2: from Elliston Berry, heard from other victims of non consensual
28:53
Speaker 2: intimate images, and called on the House to pass the
28:56
Speaker 2: Take It Down Act. And President Trump tonight called in
28:59
Speaker 2: the House past the day to Take It Down Act.
29:01
Speaker 2: So I was really glad. The two people directly next
29:04
Speaker 2: to to Blania Trump to her left were two Texans,
29:09
Speaker 2: Elliston Berry and Alexis Nungary and and that made me
29:12
Speaker 2: very happy.
29:14
Speaker 1: That may have been one of the best parts of
29:15
Speaker 1: the night. Let's talk about what this looks like moving forward.
29:20
Speaker 1: I think the president's speech is going to play very
29:22
Speaker 1: well with the American people. I think it's going to
29:25
Speaker 1: help with momentum moving forward. I also do think that
29:28
Speaker 1: the American people, and the way they were watching this
29:31
Speaker 1: on TV, saw the the shocking moments when they wouldn't
29:37
Speaker 1: stand for children that were, you know, murdered by illegal immigrants,
29:40
Speaker 1: their families, police officers dyeing in the lie of doooney duty.
29:44
Speaker 1: It was on the list. I mean, you look at
29:47
Speaker 1: all of this, bringing an American hostit home from Russia.
29:50
Speaker 1: By the way, they wuldn't stand for that. That was
29:52
Speaker 1: another moment we left at earlier. Were you shocked by
29:55
Speaker 1: that as well? Well?
29:57
Speaker 2: And you and I covered Mark Fogel coming back. We
29:59
Speaker 2: covered that on the podcast when it happened. That was
30:05
Speaker 2: one of the multiple times I turned to the folks
30:07
Speaker 2: around me and I'm like, what the hell is wrong
30:09
Speaker 2: with these people, like, like, how do you not this
30:13
Speaker 2: is not partisan? This is not I get that they
30:16
Speaker 2: don't cheer for, you know, conservative ideas because they're all
30:20
Speaker 2: wacko lefties, But how do you not cheer for things
30:24
Speaker 2: that are just unambiguously good. And it's today's Democrat party,
30:29
Speaker 2: it's a commodation. They become the party of hate and
30:32
Speaker 2: rage and they're in denial. They don't know how to
30:36
Speaker 2: respond to this election other than to fume and glare.
30:41
Speaker 2: And I got to say, if you're an elected Democrat,
30:45
Speaker 2: how do you think this is a good message to
30:48
Speaker 2: the American people? We hate everyone and everything that's the
30:52
Speaker 2: Democrats like.
30:53
Speaker 3: I don't get that.
30:55
Speaker 1: No, I don't either. So what happens now? This is
30:58
Speaker 1: my prediction. I think the presence proval rating is going
31:01
Speaker 1: to stay solid and in certain categories, support on certain
31:06
Speaker 1: issues will actually rise coming out of this State of
31:09
Speaker 1: the Union. I think this is going to continue the
31:11
Speaker 1: momentum on on things like Doge and even in some
31:16
Speaker 1: of the issues that we're talking about that are in
31:18
Speaker 1: tough ones, whether it's dealing with Mexico and cartels or
31:22
Speaker 1: tariffs or Canada and fetanol. The list goes on and on.
31:25
Speaker 1: I think same thing on Ukraine funding. I think this
31:29
Speaker 1: could catapult him to even greater near term success. That's
31:34
Speaker 1: a lot of political capital that obviously you want your prediction.
31:39
Speaker 3: Look, I agree with you. I think the American people
31:42
Speaker 3: are going to be happy with this speech. They're going
31:44
Speaker 3: to be happy with the results.
31:46
Speaker 2: The American people are happy with successes for America. And
31:49
Speaker 2: we're getting on the border, seeing illegal immigrations and illegal
31:53
Speaker 2: boarding crossings drop over ninety percent. That's an unambiguous victory.
31:58
Speaker 2: On energy, Seeing energy production going up, seeing regulations being repealed,
32:04
Speaker 2: seeing wasteful spending being eliminated, those are unambiguous victories. In
32:08
Speaker 2: terms of jobs, he went through the investments, the investments
32:11
Speaker 2: on new investments, whether from Oracle or Apple, or car
32:16
Speaker 2: companies bringing new factories here. Those are big wins. Those
32:20
Speaker 2: are the sorts of things. Those are the sorts of things. Frankly,
32:23
Speaker 2: when Joe Biden talked about if he you know, he
32:25
Speaker 2: had Democrats and their speeches would talk about a new factory,
32:28
Speaker 2: and you know what, the Republicans would all stand and cheer, because, hey,
32:31
Speaker 2: a new factory in America is a good thing. And
32:33
Speaker 2: we even if we don't support many, if not most,
32:38
Speaker 2: of Biden and Obama's policies, we cheer for the American people.
32:43
Speaker 2: I think that the President's message was really strong, but
32:47
Speaker 2: I also think the contrast with the Democrats made it
32:50
Speaker 2: even stronger.
32:51
Speaker 3: And so.
32:53
Speaker 2: I think this was a good night for America, but
32:57
Speaker 2: not a good night for today's Democrat party.
33:00
Speaker 3: Yeah.
33:00
Speaker 1: Great point. It's always fun to get to do a
33:03
Speaker 1: joint pod. So wherever you're listening right now, makes you
