- 2:08Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey, Oh yeah, man, got a
- 2:12Speaker 1: radio show. Do you understand that I'm telling you God
- 2:16Speaker 1: been big in my life. I'm not gonna kid you.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm telling you in here do the same thing for you. God.
- 2:23Speaker 1: God is a gentleman, you know. I want to I
- 2:25Speaker 1: want to point that out to you. God is an
- 2:28Speaker 1: absolute gentleman. He will not come in unless he's invited.
- 2:35Speaker 1: He don't just barge into your life. He gives us
- 2:39Speaker 1: the power of choice. You know, if you say you
- 2:42Speaker 1: got it, I don't need you. He let you have it.
- 2:46Speaker 1: If you say I need you, come see about me.
- 2:49Speaker 1: He right there. It's just a real simple thing, man.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So always say to people this, if you've gotten yourself
- 2:58Speaker 1: into something, and please know I have, I man, see that.
- 3:05Speaker 1: That's why I'm so adamant about it. Because I've gotten
- 3:08Speaker 1: myself in some circumstances and positions in my life. And boy,
- 3:13Speaker 1: let me tell you something. I've had some low moments. Man,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I've had some moments where I did not know what
- 3:20Speaker 1: to do. I didn't know what was next. I didn't
- 3:24Speaker 1: know how to go about it. I didn't have no
- 3:27Speaker 1: more ideas. I was stuck. I thought a couple of times,
- 3:33Speaker 1: well might not make it past this one. But then
- 3:38Speaker 1: if I don't make it past it, what's gonna happen?
- 3:41Speaker 1: And then I held on to this little thing that
- 3:44Speaker 1: my mother kept talking to me about. She said, sometimes
- 3:47Speaker 1: when you ain't got nothing else in you, just hope,
- 3:51Speaker 1: she said, just hope it'll be all right, you know.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And what I've learned in my life is that hope.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's the beginning of faith. Hope. It's just is there
- 4:02Speaker 1: a possibility out there for me? I sure hope something happened.
- 4:10Speaker 1: See hope, hope it's okay, man, Because like I said,
- 4:15Speaker 1: for me, the way I've lived my life, hope was
- 4:18Speaker 1: the beginning of faith. It was just the idea. It's
- 4:21Speaker 1: just the thought that something could change from me, that
- 4:24Speaker 1: something could be a little bit different from me, that maybe, man,
- 4:29Speaker 1: just maybe for some reason, I could be saved, I
- 4:33Speaker 1: could be rescued, things could turn around, it could head
- 4:37Speaker 1: any other direction. Maybe I could quit messing up. Maybe
- 4:41Speaker 1: somebody will forgive me, Maybe somebody will just say all right.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't know, but I can't count the times I've
- 4:49Speaker 1: been in that position. But then once I hope a
- 4:52Speaker 1: little bit, and then I remember also my mother, because
- 4:54Speaker 1: she was a Sunday school teacher, she taught me the
- 4:58Speaker 1: most valuable lesson I've ever learned in my life. Nothing
- 5:01Speaker 1: has been greater in my life than my faith. She
- 5:04Speaker 1: taught me to pray. Mamma used to say, when it
- 5:06Speaker 1: get real, dog for your son, prad changes things. She said,
- 5:10Speaker 1: When you seem like you lost and you can't finding
- 5:14Speaker 1: your way, stop and pray, she said, because prad changes things.
- 5:20Speaker 1: You know, when you get a point in your life
- 5:21Speaker 1: when you've done all you can do and you can't
- 5:23Speaker 1: do no more, and you just don't know what to
- 5:26Speaker 1: do next, she says, stop so pray and combine that
- 5:31Speaker 1: prayer with that hope that you got, she said, because
- 5:35Speaker 1: that hope is the beginning of faith. She said. If
- 5:38Speaker 1: you pray just hoping, she's saying, that God come through
- 5:42Speaker 1: for you, that will give you confidence that he can
- 5:45Speaker 1: do it again. And then after a while, you quit hoping,
- 5:48Speaker 1: she's saying, you start believing. She saying, that's when you're
- 5:51Speaker 1: on to something. If you can turn that hope into belief,
- 5:56Speaker 1: that hope into faith, the ability to believe something that
- 6:00Speaker 1: you can't see. But the key though the faith is
- 6:04Speaker 1: you're believing in something that you can't see. See hoping
- 6:09Speaker 1: a little bit different from me now, I'm pretty sure.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Like I say, oftentimes to tell a lot of people
- 6:13Speaker 1: who can explain this thing a lot better than I
- 6:15Speaker 1: can to you. But just from my side of it,
- 6:18Speaker 1: being as real as I can be, rich see, hope helps. Man.
- 6:23Speaker 1: If you ain't strong enough to have faith, have hope,
- 6:26Speaker 1: and then if you pray with some hope and God
- 6:29Speaker 1: answers your prayer, then that hope gains a little confidence,
- 6:33Speaker 1: and after a while that confidence becomes faith. Not ain't
- 6:38Speaker 1: just hoping, but I'm believing. I'm believing in something that
- 6:42Speaker 1: I cannot see. Faith has been the key to my
- 6:49Speaker 1: entire existence, even when I didn't have any It was faith,
- 6:55Speaker 1: as I look back on it, that has gotten me here.
- 6:59Speaker 1: And not just faith, but my faith. See, you will
- 7:03Speaker 1: only get to where you're going in your life based
- 7:07Speaker 1: on your faith. See. A lot of people get the
- 7:11Speaker 1: word faith confused, like what's your faith? And then they
- 7:14Speaker 1: start going down this whole list of all these different
- 7:17Speaker 1: religions out here. But really an essence, man, when I
- 7:20Speaker 1: talk to people about faith, I'm talking to you about
- 7:24Speaker 1: your your belief. How much do you believe in the unseen?
- 7:31Speaker 1: How much do you believe in the things you can't see?
- 7:34Speaker 1: How much do you believe in the impossible? How much
- 7:38Speaker 1: do you believe? See? Because faith is the belief in
- 7:44Speaker 1: things that you cannot see. Faith is the core of
- 7:50Speaker 1: all that is happening to me today. It is the
- 7:53Speaker 1: faith that I have in my relationship with God that
- 7:57Speaker 1: enables me to jesse. Oftentimes, if I stay on the
- 8:03Speaker 1: right course and believe a certain way and act a
- 8:07Speaker 1: certain way, his blessings just poor. They just come. And
- 8:13Speaker 1: it comes in a lot of little ways too. I've
- 8:15Speaker 1: started to notice see It ain't just a lot of
- 8:18Speaker 1: people think blessings is money, and no, man, that ain't it.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It's coverage. It's every time my plane lands safe. It's
- 8:27Speaker 1: every time they predict bad weather and not get up
- 8:30Speaker 1: in the sky and it don't be no bad weather.
- 8:33Speaker 1: You know this, This is favor. These are blessings that
- 8:37Speaker 1: get poured out to me. Somebody call me and offer
- 8:41Speaker 1: me something, not money, but an opportunity, you know. Somebody say, hey, man,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I don't know, but I sent this to you. I
- 8:50Speaker 1: thought you might be interested in it. Somebody has sent
- 8:52Speaker 1: me a scripture, or somebody will send me something that's favor,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and it always comes at a time when I need
- 9:00Speaker 1: it the most. That's favor, that's pouring out blessings. Now
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm also the recipient of a lot of other blessings too.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You know, I've been blessed with health. That's amazing blessing. Man.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I've been blessed with a spirit of not quitting. I've
- 9:18Speaker 1: been blessed with the ability to shoulder huge amounts of responsibility. See,
- 9:25Speaker 1: blessings come a lot of ways. But once you tie
- 9:29Speaker 1: into God, once you tie in and you start doing
- 9:34Speaker 1: the best you can do and you start asking for
- 9:37Speaker 1: him to make you a better person, to help shape
- 9:40Speaker 1: and mold you into the kind of man or person
- 9:44Speaker 1: that he wants you to be. You be amazed what
- 9:46Speaker 1: God can do with you. Man, if you just invite
- 9:49Speaker 1: me in and allow him to be a part of
- 9:51Speaker 1: your life. I mean, what you got to lose out there?
- 9:54Speaker 1: Come on, if you're sitting in the cell this morning,
- 9:57Speaker 1: why why would you not change? I watched these shows
- 10:01Speaker 1: about me and locked up all the time. Who waiting?
- 10:04Speaker 1: They getting their farties and they decide. Man, I'm tired
- 10:06Speaker 1: of this. I've lived most of my life behind these bars.
- 10:10Speaker 1: When I get out this time, man, I'm gonna get
- 10:12Speaker 1: it right. Why you gotta wait till you farty? I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 1: when you're farty, your school, get yourself together, whenever it happened.
- 10:18Speaker 1: But man, do you know that you are not created
- 10:20Speaker 1: to live behind bars? God didn't make you that way.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But if you've gotten yourself into that position, though, see
- 10:28Speaker 1: now you gotta do the best you can. But they
- 10:30Speaker 1: don't need to look at it God being mad at it,
- 10:32Speaker 1: we'd have made all of our decisions, got us to
- 10:34Speaker 1: where we're at today. You have a chance to turn
- 10:37Speaker 1: your life around with a relationship with God. What you're
- 10:39Speaker 1: waiting on? Are you gonna just keep doing it like that? Huh? Really?
- 10:44Speaker 1: Come on, man, why would you do that to yourself?
- 10:48Speaker 1: Why would you not allow God to be a part
- 10:50Speaker 1: of your life so you can get the way he
- 10:52Speaker 1: wants you to be. God got some big plans for you.
- 10:55Speaker 1: If he didn't, you wouldn't keep waking up. You're listening
- 10:58Speaker 1: to show ladies, ladies and ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies. That's

- 14:37Speaker 1: We're celebrating it all day today and we're gonna talk
- 14:39Speaker 1: about the most inspirational women in our lives. Right after this,
- 14:43Speaker 1: you're listening to show. Well, guys, Today's International Women's Day
- 14:50Speaker 1: and this year's theme is hashtag balance for better campaign.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Balance is not a women's issue. It's a business issue.
- 14:58Speaker 1: A gender balance of him employees and more gender balance
- 15:02Speaker 1: in wealth. Hello. Yes, that's my favorite one right there.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive.
- 15:12Speaker 1: From concerts and conferences to fun runs and festivals, celebrate
- 15:16Speaker 1: International Women's Day with friends, family and colleagues, raise awareness,
- 15:22Speaker 1: celebrate achievement, or rally for chain. So, Steve, Tommy and Jay,
- 15:27Speaker 1: we got to ask you, guys, who are some of
- 15:29Speaker 1: the most inspirational important women in your lives? Hands down,
- 15:34Speaker 1: Ill loss vera Herty, Yeah, yeah, my mama man. Yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 1: Singly the single best human being I ever met. Bet,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I never met a human being better than health. And
- 15:48Speaker 1: what was so special about your mom's Steve, I mean,
- 15:51Speaker 1: I'm sure there were many things. My mother's love was
- 15:55Speaker 1: genuine concern for me, h incredible passion and desire as
- 16:02Speaker 1: a Sunday school teacher for so many people, for especially
- 16:07Speaker 1: her boy. She wanted me to understand the power of
- 16:12Speaker 1: prayer and the relationship with God. The boy. If you please,
- 16:16Speaker 1: if you don't get nothing else I could get, you,
- 16:18Speaker 1: get this call when I'm gone here. He ain't going nowhere. Wow.
- 16:21Speaker 1: And that was the most powerful She gave me, the
- 16:23Speaker 1: most powerful gift I've ever had. She taught me about
- 16:26Speaker 1: faith and you were the baby of a family. Yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 1: she taught all of it, but I mean this story
- 16:32Speaker 1: it did my sisters like Jesse's saved as my mama was,
- 16:35Speaker 1: But for me, it has been the basis of my success.
- 16:39Speaker 1: If it wasn't for that, I have no way of
- 16:40Speaker 1: getting him. I don't no way I could have been.
- 16:43Speaker 1: That's major. What about you, j oh it had a
- 16:47Speaker 1: brown your mother, I mean, my biggest fan. When I
- 16:53Speaker 1: was doing that other show. You could only hear that
- 16:56Speaker 1: other show. You gotta tell y'all story, you know, in
- 17:00Speaker 1: the store or not, I was doing it. I was
- 17:03Speaker 1: doing that other show, right, And this is like, this
- 17:05Speaker 1: shows how much a mother is behind what you're doing.
- 17:08Speaker 1: You could only hear it in the car. For some reason,
- 17:10Speaker 1: the show only came on in the car at the
- 17:13Speaker 1: first part of when we Before they came on in Columbia, Southrolina,
- 17:16Speaker 1: my mama would sit in the car every day and
- 17:20Speaker 1: listen to her baby boy on the radio because I
- 17:22Speaker 1: bought card Now here's the here's the funny place. She
- 17:26Speaker 1: said to me, do you think people would think I'm crazy?
- 17:29Speaker 1: And I said to my mama, if I saw a
- 17:32Speaker 1: fat black lady sitting in the car every day laughs
- 17:35Speaker 1: and for four hours, yes, I would think they were crazy.
- 17:37Speaker 1: You said that to your mother, But that's just such
- 17:42Speaker 1: the inspiration I got. And then you know, whenever I
- 17:45Speaker 1: would go do a show, I call her in the
- 17:47Speaker 1: morning before I started up. She said, go get him
- 17:49Speaker 1: and I said, I got him. And the weird part
- 17:50Speaker 1: about when she passed away. I was doing a show
- 17:54Speaker 1: and get ready to go on the stage and the
- 17:55Speaker 1: guy said get him. And nobody has ever said that
- 17:59Speaker 1: to me. It was maybe a way my mom was
- 18:01Speaker 1: speaking to the man. My mom was my biggest fan
- 18:05Speaker 1: so much. That's so awesomely. Really, I'm a baby boy
- 18:09Speaker 1: and I was spoiled. I really was. Yeah, yeah, because
- 18:14Speaker 1: I was an unwell only chimp's wood. That's the international yea,
- 18:23Speaker 1: all right, it is International Women's Day today. We're celebrating
- 18:26Speaker 1: all day. We're just going around the room asking the
- 18:29Speaker 1: guys who's the most inspirational woman in their lives. We've
- 18:32Speaker 1: asked Steve, he said, his mom, of course, Jay, his mom,
- 18:35Speaker 1: of course. Now we get to the nephew. Nephew, hate
- 18:39Speaker 1: the great, hate the great baby. Ain't nothing better than
- 18:47Speaker 1: my mom, man. My mom actually is the first person
- 18:51Speaker 1: turned me on to the entertainment world. A lot of
- 18:53Speaker 1: people think it's uncle Steve, but my mama took me
- 18:56Speaker 1: to Steve bucking the preacher back into day, oh man,
- 19:01Speaker 1: and I had to bug every since then. Boy, I
- 19:04Speaker 1: was I've been fucking. The Preacher is a film back
- 19:07Speaker 1: in the day with Sydney Portier and Harry Bellafonte. And
- 19:11Speaker 1: it's a western. It's a black western. It's the first
- 19:14Speaker 1: one of the first black wrestling and the first one
- 19:16Speaker 1: I ever said, first movie I have to say. And
- 19:19Speaker 1: my mother took me to see it, and to this day,
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean, y'all already know my daughters name is sick.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Yeah you know, so it's a it's the host. She
- 19:26Speaker 1: turned me on to the whole entertainment world and I am.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I'm still in it today, still trying to get it.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And my mama my biggest fan. I got my first
- 19:33Speaker 1: TV show, Ready to Love, took my mama to the
- 19:36Speaker 1: red carpet with me. Boy, your mama, Kate the Great,
- 19:39Speaker 1: bea smiling boy. It's my fault, sweet lady. That's nice, guys.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Any other women in your lives, Mama, No, not like mama.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I mean other women who may have inspired you, like
- 19:54Speaker 1: my sister. My sister hit me in the head with
- 19:56Speaker 1: the phone. It ain't really there was an inspiration to
- 20:01Speaker 1: me because my sister was so smart effortless smart. And
- 20:06Speaker 1: I really, as much as I struggle, that couldn't be
- 20:09Speaker 1: that damn smart. So you go, Shirley, what about you?
- 20:13Speaker 1: I mean, well, I'm just gonna say, yeah, I was
- 20:15Speaker 1: gonna say, of course, it's my mom. She passed away
- 20:18Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. But you know my mom.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I mean she taught me everything. I mean, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 1: how to just everything everything. I owe everything to her.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And I don't even want to talk about it right
- 20:32Speaker 1: now because her No. Yeah, I got a little chuck
- 20:34Speaker 1: chucked up about it because it's still pretty new for me.
- 20:37Speaker 1: But yeah, it was my mom. And then after her
- 20:40Speaker 1: was Diana roth all in with Diana. Yeah, but what
- 20:47Speaker 1: about you, Carla? Oh you know it was my mother? Yeah,
- 20:50Speaker 1: of course mother. Yeah, you know it was me and
- 20:52Speaker 1: her and my grandmother, and uh, all that I am
- 20:56Speaker 1: I owe to. My mother taught me every thing and
- 21:00Speaker 1: she was a single mom putting it down and uh, who,
- 21:05Speaker 1: like you said, you get When that song I Always
- 21:09Speaker 1: Love my Mama would come on, I could not listen.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Hey Ja. The week my mama passed, man, we were
- 21:15Speaker 1: shooting an episode of The Steve Harvey Show, and we
- 21:20Speaker 1: were out. We were in the garage doing a scene
- 21:23Speaker 1: in a car convertible and I don't know how they
- 21:26Speaker 1: did it, man, but they played all always love my

- 39:55Speaker 1: They've I've talked to them. They stopped answering my calls,
- 39:59Speaker 1: you know, with they say, they say that you were
- 40:01Speaker 1: you were brainwashed. I talked to your dad last night.
- 40:04Speaker 1: He says my daughter is brainwashed, and he's very concerned.
- 40:07Speaker 1: He said he was here two days ago and you
- 40:09Speaker 1: wouldn't even look him in the eye. Okay, I wouldn't
- 40:11Speaker 1: look him in the eye because he's a liar and
- 40:13Speaker 1: he's a manipulative liar. Oh my god, this is so disturbing.
- 40:17Speaker 1: You're gone. I don't like how I hear it. Disrespect
- 40:24Speaker 1: when they talk about yeast absolutely, yes, yes, you know
- 40:30Speaker 1: that's what young people do when they're off balanced. Yea,
- 40:35Speaker 1: the defense that theiation like that. You're right, you know,
- 40:39Speaker 1: you know when a person is getting checked. And I'm
- 40:41Speaker 1: sure as a woman you wouldn't need it. You you
- 40:43Speaker 1: ain't nowhere near a woman. Yes, slow down. You ain't
- 40:49Speaker 1: seen what Gail kings. The attitude, you know, but that
- 40:53Speaker 1: was an attitude for But she repeated something that R.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Kelly said. There are lots of men, I know, men
- 41:02Speaker 1: with multiple girls. Yeah, you seed the same exact thing.
- 41:10Speaker 1: I know when a person has been crowded and rehearse. Yeah,
- 41:16Speaker 1: and this girl was being too belligerate She didn't even
- 41:19Speaker 1: know how to play it off, right, you attacking me
- 41:23Speaker 1: and here I am, and I'm sure no one touched it.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I don't such what goes on in my bedroom. Here
- 41:29Speaker 1: is one of the things that disturbed me when R Kelly.
- 41:32Speaker 1: We'll wait, Steve, just hold that thought. Coming up at
- 41:35Speaker 1: thirty four after the hour, we'll discuss more of girl's
- 41:38Speaker 1: interview with R Kelly with his living girlfriends who defend him.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Right after this you're listening to all right, Steve. Before
- 41:49Speaker 1: we left break, of course, today's International Women's Day. We
- 41:52Speaker 1: want to wish everyone a happy International Women's Day. We
- 41:56Speaker 1: were saluting Gail King, who did such an outstand interview
- 42:00Speaker 1: with R Kelly a couple of days ago, and then
- 42:04Speaker 1: yesterday she continued the interview with R Kelly's two girlfriends,
- 42:09Speaker 1: Asriel Clary. You know what one of the things, Asrielle said,
- 42:14Speaker 1: that's kind of no pertaining to Asriel. They were asking
- 42:20Speaker 1: R Kelly. She had asked R Kelly, she said, you
- 42:25Speaker 1: know the girl, you know, she couldn't even sing. You
- 42:28Speaker 1: remember when they were saying that that that Rio wanted
- 42:30Speaker 1: to do, and he said, well, she couldn't even sing.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So then Gail King said, well, if she couldn't sing,
- 42:37Speaker 1: what was your interest? And he said she was just beautiful.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Hold of dog. But you had just said she was seventeen, right,
- 42:50Speaker 1: And then what he didn't catch yourself was when he
- 42:53Speaker 1: said she was just she she couldn't sing, she was
- 42:57Speaker 1: just beautiful. She was a kid man. You know, if
- 43:01Speaker 1: he really believe he can fly, he ought to get
- 43:03Speaker 1: his as somebody, all right, all right, so crazy, all right?
- 43:15Speaker 1: So these young girls parents, Azrael and Jocelyn's parents have
- 43:21Speaker 1: long alleged that R. Kelly has manipulated and brainwashed their daughters.
- 43:25Speaker 1: But the daughters, uh, we're telling Gail King that their
- 43:29Speaker 1: parents are out to get money. Listen to this. This
- 43:32Speaker 1: is the first time hearing, to be honest with you,
- 43:33Speaker 1: that your parents are trying to get money from R. Kelly. Okay,
- 43:36Speaker 1: because your father told a very different story, yeah to
- 43:39Speaker 1: me last night. Yeah, he's the manipulative. He's very manipulative.
- 43:43Speaker 1: So he's the one you need to watch out for.
- 43:46Speaker 1: But uh, my dad and my mom they started to
- 43:50Speaker 1: send threats to bulk me and him. They said, oh,
- 43:52Speaker 1: I'll put all your pictures all over the world. I'm
- 43:55Speaker 1: going to ruin you I'm going to ruin him if
- 43:57Speaker 1: he doesn't send twenty thousand dollars to this bank help
- 44:00Speaker 1: by Monday. Oh, I'm gonna put everything out there, and
- 44:02Speaker 1: then ten thousand dollars after that. You're trying us to
- 44:05Speaker 1: listen to me like I'm some whole I'm not. I'm
- 44:08Speaker 1: your child exactly. Yeah, you sound very angry with your parents.
- 44:14Speaker 1: You sound very angry and very pained. Tell me as well,
- 44:21Speaker 1: while you're crying, tell me, I'm crying because you guys
- 44:25Speaker 1: don't know the truth, and you guys, I'm believing it
- 44:28Speaker 1: so facade that our parents are saying, this is all
- 44:32Speaker 1: life for money. And if you can't see that, you're
- 44:35Speaker 1: agorant and you're stupid because you want to be, because
- 44:39Speaker 1: that's the world we live in. Negative these seals what sales, exactly.
- 44:45Speaker 1: But Jocelyn and Azrael, this is more than gossip. This
- 44:48Speaker 1: is more than just rumors. These are decades of allegations
- 44:53Speaker 1: against Robert Carr. I'm not here to talk about decades.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We're here to talk about what our parents are doing
- 44:57Speaker 1: right now, right, and what they're doing right now. It's
- 45:00Speaker 1: all for money, right, That's what they do. First, turning
- 45:06Speaker 1: against your parents. I tell you something, hey, man, let
- 45:11Speaker 1: me tell you something. When that girl started crying, yes, yes,
- 45:16Speaker 1: that was a break moment for her because she knew, man,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I didn't said something against two people who really love me.
- 45:24Speaker 1: And she broke and she and then she snapped out
- 45:27Speaker 1: of it. Yeah, this isn't about. This is about if
- 45:31Speaker 1: you believe this, this is ignorant and you're stupid negativity sales.
- 45:36Speaker 1: It went right on back to what his what he
- 45:39Speaker 1: his thing was, he said, but she broke down this.
- 45:43Speaker 1: I believe the girl's parents. I really really do, man,
- 45:46Speaker 1: because they've got no reason why. And like and like
- 45:49Speaker 1: Gail said, this is the first day here and the
- 45:50Speaker 1: parents trying to get some money. Your parents are saying
- 45:55Speaker 1: they're going to extort money from you, but you know
- 46:00Speaker 1: out what you know. They also had said one time
- 46:04Speaker 1: at all, our Kelly will support us. He's he'll look
- 46:08Speaker 1: out for us. Our Kelly don't have one hundred thousand
- 46:10Speaker 1: get his ass out of ye that's true, to take
- 46:14Speaker 1: care of his own damn kids. He ain't got none
- 46:17Speaker 1: for y'all. Man, Right, No, listen, Steve, I just want
- 46:21Speaker 1: to get this out there. If if you know, if
- 46:23Speaker 1: you if you have been a sexually abused or assaulted.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Please call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at eight hundred
- 46:30Speaker 1: and sixty five six four six seven three. Eight hundred
- 46:33Speaker 1: sixty five six four six seven three. All right, and
- 46:37Speaker 1: we'll be back with nephew Tommy's prank phone call right
- 46:40Speaker 1: after this. You're listening to show coming up at the
- 46:45Speaker 1: top of the hour, right about four minutes after. It's
- 46:48Speaker 1: today Strawberry letter the subject for today. Check this out, guys.
- 46:53Speaker 1: I was willing to settle for a loser, but right
- 46:56Speaker 1: now the nephew is here with today's prank phone call. Okay,
- 47:00Speaker 1: all I was able to do the one the last
- 47:02Speaker 1: your telling, all right, thank you. Well, this is International
- 47:05Speaker 1: Women's Day, like you say, And you know how mothers
- 47:07Speaker 1: are about their children. Okay, you'll mess with them about
- 47:11Speaker 1: their kids. Okay, you call this mom. Messed with her,
- 47:15Speaker 1: told her that her child could not color, her child
- 47:20Speaker 1: would not stay inside the lines, and she went in
- 47:24Speaker 1: on you. Sir. I believe that's your son going back
- 47:29Speaker 1: to going back to pre k. I think going back
- 47:32Speaker 1: to pre k running kick. Yes, I'm trying to reach
- 47:38Speaker 1: miss Thomas. Please, my name is mister Stapleton. I'm actually
- 47:42Speaker 1: the principal over at elementary school. You're I'm looking at
- 47:47Speaker 1: my records indicating that your son, Thomas is going to
- 47:50Speaker 1: be starting his first grade. Ready, right, listen, miss Thomas, Um,
- 47:56Speaker 1: I've been going through actually all of the children's records
- 48:00Speaker 1: that will be starting school, and I'm looking at your
- 48:03Speaker 1: son's grades from his kindergarten and he did good. Well, No,
- 48:09Speaker 1: not exactly. I mean there's been a few I actually
- 48:13Speaker 1: spoke with the teacher who he was under in kindergarten,
- 48:16Speaker 1: and it seems like he just really wasn't up to
- 48:18Speaker 1: par as the rest of the children. Now, his conduct, now,
- 48:23Speaker 1: he talked, but he gets his work. So what else
- 48:25Speaker 1: is she saying on that that ain't right? Well, what's
- 48:28Speaker 1: what it seems to be, ma'am, is that his grades
- 48:31Speaker 1: weren't up to par as the rest of the other children.
- 48:33Speaker 1: She did tell me he was a disobedient child. No,
- 48:36Speaker 1: he disobedient and talking two different things. Come on, Okay, well, man, listen,
- 48:40Speaker 1: what we've decided here is we're gonna let a little
- 48:44Speaker 1: actually do another year of kindergarten. Y'all ain't gonna let
- 48:48Speaker 1: him do another year of kindergarten? No stuff, man, that's
- 48:51Speaker 1: that's the only choice I have. No. We got our
- 48:55Speaker 1: letter in the mail with our report card the week
- 48:59Speaker 1: after schools starting, and it's said on the back promoted.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And if I got to get about this couch and
- 49:04Speaker 1: go get it, I'm gonna be down because I'm telling
- 49:07Speaker 1: you right now we will be in the first grade. Kindergarten.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Won that hard. I'm not sure what they told you
- 49:13Speaker 1: about him, but it must be the wrong. Well understanding.
- 49:17Speaker 1: He's he doesn't color as well as the rest of kids.
- 49:20Speaker 1: He's all out of he's got the lines when color.
- 49:22Speaker 1: He doesn't know his numbers completely. And that's kind of
- 49:25Speaker 1: what we need when you first come into into the
- 49:29Speaker 1: first grade. When I can show you on this paper
- 49:31Speaker 1: he did satisfactory all the way through. Now you about
- 49:34Speaker 1: to me off, and I'm already sick calling me with
- 49:37Speaker 1: some about my son blunkin kender garden. He ain't that
- 49:41Speaker 1: kind of He does not color well. Man, Listen, color
- 49:44Speaker 1: ain't gonna do with the dad guard kindergarten. He is
- 49:47Speaker 1: going to the first grade, and I'll be down there
- 49:49Speaker 1: on August twenty fourth. I will not be able to
- 49:51Speaker 1: allow you to get in the school on August By
- 49:54Speaker 1: mister I'm sorry, and let me get Let's tell you what.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Let me go in and and get my pencil pen because
- 49:59Speaker 1: I don't of that far from this school. And if
- 50:01Speaker 1: y'all an't read it down there causing some comfort, I
- 50:03Speaker 1: need to get up and go down there, because I'm
- 50:05Speaker 1: not telling my baby when he come home to day
- 50:07Speaker 1: that he ain't going to the day come first. Man.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I hate to say it, but I'm gonna have to
- 50:10Speaker 1: refuse education from him. You know what, I just went
- 50:14Speaker 1: back and put him in public school. I know that
- 50:16Speaker 1: was a stake in the first place. Food which you're
- 50:18Speaker 1: talking about some coloring. Give me your name again, sir Stapleton. Man, women,
- 50:23Speaker 1: I got the number the mind I pulled up this
- 50:25Speaker 1: report card. I got to number in your name on
- 50:27Speaker 1: the back of this paper. I'll tell you what I
- 50:29Speaker 1: was towing to. Fourth will be coming in there, going
- 50:31Speaker 1: to school, and I might make a trip around that
- 50:33Speaker 1: this evening when I come from the document. The bottom
- 50:35Speaker 1: line is, I'm not want to hear that Colin ain't
- 50:38Speaker 1: got nothing to do with nothing else. It's not only color.
- 50:42Speaker 1: He's a rhythmera tickets back. No, are you working with
- 50:45Speaker 1: him at home? Are you doing anything at home. What
- 50:49Speaker 1: you're trying to say, I'm an incompetent parent. I'm just
- 50:51Speaker 1: asking as a parent, are you working with your child?
- 50:54Speaker 1: Working with my child every day? He can read better
- 50:56Speaker 1: than you. Probably, No, he can't read. I'm the princion
- 50:59Speaker 1: I can't read better than you because obviously you read
- 51:01Speaker 1: that roll on that paper that he's supposed to be
- 51:02Speaker 1: going back to kindergarten when I know the paper saying
- 51:05Speaker 1: from it going to the first grade. And I'm not
- 51:08Speaker 1: listening to no more this about him going backwards. Now,
- 51:11Speaker 1: if you got a problem with your paper work, maybe
- 51:14Speaker 1: you need to go talk to your secretary of somebody
- 51:17Speaker 1: in there that wrote my baby name down, your name,
- 51:20Speaker 1: your son's name, Thomas Man. No, it ain't him, baby,
- 51:23Speaker 1: I know it ain't him. You're not gonna sit up
- 51:25Speaker 1: and tell me my son is plucking kindergarden. He is
- 51:27Speaker 1: not going back to that kindergarten. Don't bring your son downhill. August.
- 51:32Speaker 1: I call you once, be ready to up me and
- 51:34Speaker 1: my husband. But we will be down that August and
- 51:36Speaker 1: for backpack, shoes, uniform everything you hear me, I will
- 51:41Speaker 1: not education and that right now. I will come down
- 51:44Speaker 1: there right now and make that correction on that paper.
- 51:46Speaker 1: For your baby is not going back to no kindergarten
- 51:50Speaker 1: for no coloring. Can you bring him down him and
- 51:52Speaker 1: let him color from me? I can you tell my
- 51:54Speaker 1: color in the rimon taking out yourselves? No? Uh no,
- 51:57Speaker 1: I'm sorry. UM. We will be down that August the
- 52:00Speaker 1: twenty four. I would have this poor card in my
- 52:03Speaker 1: head that says you have been promoted to the first
- 52:06Speaker 1: brod that he's gonna have a mile on his face,
- 52:08Speaker 1: and so are you. I got one more thing I
- 52:10Speaker 1: need to tell you. Are you listening to me? I'm listening.
- 52:12Speaker 1: You ain't saying nothing. Yeah, you better say something that
- 52:15Speaker 1: sounds like the first grade, because I'm not playing. I
- 52:17Speaker 1: would go down to this dad on the administrative office
- 52:19Speaker 1: and I had fine because my son would be in
- 52:22Speaker 1: that first grade. Are you raising your voice? Who are
- 52:25Speaker 1: you raising your voice? You talking crasing to me? I'm
- 52:28Speaker 1: talking crasing to you. What. I'm a grown woman. I
- 52:31Speaker 1: don't need the best friend to you. Why I'm trying
- 52:33Speaker 1: to did you graduate? Honey? I am a college degree person.
- 52:38Speaker 1: I have a great job. My husband and I do
- 52:40Speaker 1: well for ourselves and for our children, and that's why
- 52:42Speaker 1: we're not you're not You're not even at work right now. Man,
- 52:45Speaker 1: that's it. I'm sat phone. I told you that when
- 52:47Speaker 1: you call him righting on the doctor to call me. Now,
- 52:49Speaker 1: I'm partner missing my phone call. Can you color because
- 52:52Speaker 1: your son can't color? Got question? Is that? Ask me?
- 52:57Speaker 1: Can I color? Why are you white and black? Yes?
- 52:59Speaker 1: And miss as me a's me, I'm my color. No,
- 53:01Speaker 1: I ask you can you color like the racist lines?
- 53:05Speaker 1: And that? Can you color? No? I'm my coloring and
- 53:09Speaker 1: me my color ain't got nothing to do with none
- 53:11Speaker 1: of this. Just a race thing. No, he's trying to
- 53:14Speaker 1: make sure you send him back. No, I'm not trying
- 53:16Speaker 1: to send him back. I want to send him back
- 53:17Speaker 1: to color to get his coloring together. You what that
- 53:21Speaker 1: ain't got nothing to do with nothing. And if you're
- 53:22Speaker 1: the head person down there now, you are ain't competent
- 53:25Speaker 1: and you aren't in a literate Call me and tell
- 53:28Speaker 1: me that my son has to go back to the
- 53:30Speaker 1: first grad. I got one more thing you don't want
- 53:32Speaker 1: mixed up. I'll tell you what I'm through with this guy.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Come through with this guy. I'm gonna say one more
- 53:35Speaker 1: thing and I'm gonna be out here. Are you listening.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'm listening. That's his nephew, Tommy from the Steve Harvey
- 53:41Speaker 1: Morning Show. You just got prank by your girlfriend, Felicia.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna be Felicia's. I am gonna beat her. You're
- 53:52Speaker 1: about to get to out the plan. I mean, I'm
- 53:55Speaker 1: rite nomas and everything thing now, I'm gonna coloring everything.
- 53:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna beat her because you know I don't play
- 54:00Speaker 1: when it comes to back. All right, but one more question, Now,
- 54:04Speaker 1: what is the baddest I'm talking about the baddest radio
- 54:07Speaker 1: show in the land. That's you can't mess with nobody
- 54:16Speaker 1: about that. You cannot mess with no mama about her
- 54:20Speaker 1: child together around here, I'm gonna have to get it together.
- 54:25Speaker 1: Next Friday, Baby, the Nephew will be in Washington, d
- 54:28Speaker 1: c AD. But as the Blues and Jazz Supper Club,
- 54:32Speaker 1: I would be there. That's I'm being the club. I'm
- 54:38Speaker 1: gonna be doing my thing. Some people think I'm gonna
- 54:44Speaker 1: be cooking. Others think I'm gonna say. It ain't ever
- 54:52Speaker 1: been clear what I'm about to do. But one thing
- 55:01Speaker 1: is for show, this comedy for you. I'm jazz and
- 55:08Speaker 1: blue supple, but I'm gonna be doing a little comedy tone.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I like it. I like it. I like it. I
- 55:19Speaker 1: like alright, wall to come and see me. Your guess

- 56:08Speaker 1: is a Strawberry Letter. Subject I was willing to settle
- 56:13Speaker 1: for a loser. Here Stephen Shirley. I was attracted to
- 56:17Speaker 1: a very sweet, tall, dark and handsome guy, and I
- 56:21Speaker 1: was dying to meet him. So I made the first
- 56:24Speaker 1: move and I asked him out on a date. I
- 56:28Speaker 1: invited him to dinner, and I asked him to meet
- 56:30Speaker 1: me at the restaurant. He said that he would need
- 56:32Speaker 1: to pick He would need me to pick him up
- 56:34Speaker 1: because his car is in the shop. I usually don't
- 56:38Speaker 1: drive men around, but I thought, what the heck, and
- 56:41Speaker 1: I went to get him. On the way to the restaurant,
- 56:44Speaker 1: he said that he is going through a rough time
- 56:47Speaker 1: and his ex girlfriend has him on child support, so
- 56:50Speaker 1: he is looking for a better job to pay child
- 56:52Speaker 1: support and get his car fixed. Since I invited him
- 56:56Speaker 1: to dinner, and because of the conversation in the car,
- 56:58Speaker 1: I offered to pay for dinner and he left me.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I saw all the red flags with him, but I
- 57:05Speaker 1: did not run away from this situation initially. After a
- 57:09Speaker 1: few more dates, I got tired of hearing about his
- 57:12Speaker 1: problems and I told him. He told me that I
- 57:15Speaker 1: need to be a riot or die type of chick
- 57:17Speaker 1: and I need to be patient with him. That was
- 57:20Speaker 1: the final straw, and I told him that we're not
- 57:23Speaker 1: compatible and I didn't want to see him anymore. He
- 57:26Speaker 1: called me a bougie as heffa and said that I'd
- 57:32Speaker 1: never find any man that could put up with me.
- 57:35Speaker 1: This really hurt my feelings because that's not who I am.
- 57:38Speaker 1: If I was bougie, I wouldn't I would have stopped
- 57:41Speaker 1: talking to him after the first date. I was trying
- 57:44Speaker 1: to have an open mind and do things differently. Now
- 57:47Speaker 1: I feel used because I was willing to overlook his
- 57:51Speaker 1: shortcomings and help him by being supportive. My married friends
- 57:56Speaker 1: say that said that I should not ever compromise my standards,
- 58:00Speaker 1: but I haven't had success in a relationship, so I
- 58:02Speaker 1: tried to switch it up. I'm just a single, professional
- 58:05Speaker 1: female wanting a good man. What am I doing wrong? Okay?
- 58:11Speaker 1: You know what I agree with with your married friends
- 58:14Speaker 1: when they say, don't compromise your standards. Okay, I understand
- 58:19Speaker 1: you were doing the same thing. So you wanted to
- 58:21Speaker 1: try something different, but you knew going in, you saw
- 58:26Speaker 1: the red flags. You ignored the red flags, and so
- 58:30Speaker 1: this is what you ended up with. I mean, you
- 58:33Speaker 1: offered to pay for dinner, you went to pick him up,
- 58:38Speaker 1: you know all these things. His car was in the shop,
- 58:40Speaker 1: he had to pay for child support and all this,
- 58:43Speaker 1: and for him to call you that after all the
- 58:45Speaker 1: things that you've done for him, it shows that he
- 58:47Speaker 1: wasn't appreciative anyway. So I don't think I don't think
- 58:52Speaker 1: he was worthy of you anyway. Okay, I think you
- 58:55Speaker 1: should just be patient, don't lower your standards, don't settle,
- 58:59Speaker 1: and the right man will come along. Steve, this is
- 59:02Speaker 1: a real simple letter to me. This Shirley and Steve.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I was attracted to a very sweet, tall dog and
- 59:09Speaker 1: handsome guy. I was dying to meet him, so I
- 59:12Speaker 1: made the first move. I asked him out on the date.
- 59:14Speaker 1: You picked him. You went over there and picked him.
- 59:19Speaker 1: This was your selection. So here we go. I invited
- 59:25Speaker 1: him to dinner, asked him to meet me at the restaurant.
- 59:31Speaker 1: He said he would need me to pick him up
- 59:33Speaker 1: because his car was in the shop. Was no, biggie
- 59:39Speaker 1: old you stayed there? You just you know you stayed there.
- 59:44Speaker 1: He said he wanted to pick up because his car
- 59:46Speaker 1: was in the shop. Now usually on give drive me
- 59:48Speaker 1: in around, But I thought, what the heck? I went
- 59:52Speaker 1: to get him. On the way to the restaurant, he said,
- 59:55Speaker 1: he's going through a rough time and his ex girlfriend
- 59:58Speaker 1: had him on child support. No, your ex girlfriend don't
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: have you on child support. The state put you on
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: child support because your ask goots to send it, and
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: so that it ain't the girlfriend. He ain't got nothing
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: to do with it the state. So now he was
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: looking for a better job to pay child support and
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: get his car fix. He need a better job to
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: pay his child support and get his car fix, so
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: he ain't working. Well, he's a better job, right. No,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: he didn't have no money for dinner. Ship Okay, since
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I invited him to dinner and because of the conversation
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: in the car, I offered to pay for dinner and
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: he let me. He had to let you. He ain't
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: have it. This ain't no, he ain't let nothing. Now
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: he let you pick him up. Then he let you
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: hit his story. Then he lets you know all of this.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Not a problem we have is you picked this man.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: The reason maybe he didn't walk up to you in
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: the first place because he knew all of this. Maybe
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: he didn't have his stuff in order and he knew
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: all this. But since you ran upon him and you
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: picked him, here you go. He saw you, but he
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: know he having stuff together, so he say nothing to you.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: So now you pick him off to pay for dinner.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: He felt like I said, and then she said and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: he let me. I saw all the red flags with him,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: but I didn't run away from this situation. Initially, a
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: lady was on my talk show the other day, she
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: said something I thought was really wonderful what she told
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: all the women. She said, stopped collecting red flags. Stop
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: collecting red flags when you get one what you need?
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Six seven? Mother? For now, you got a bunch of
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: red flags in the back seat of your car. A
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: few more dates, I got tired of hearing about this problem.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: He just he just at the house because play man. Hey, hey, hey,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: where you going to a movie? You know what else?
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I can't do? What? Ask me something I probably can't
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: even do to ask me something? Well, okay, movies? Okay,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: how about we just go to the mall and maybe, oh, hey,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I'm not walk around? Yeah, walk around? No, you're gonna
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: you get thirsty when you walk around. Yeah. Yeah, we
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: stop and getting you get hungry when you all around? Yeah?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Usually yeah, okay, we can't go to moment? You want
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: to walk around somewhere? Wow? What what about? Um? Let's
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: go to a museum that's oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's cool.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: That's cool. You like art? I love art. You're owning
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: the art? Actually wing all No moment, Yeah you gotta
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: all art. You gonnahead the car show was in town.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Let's go to the car shoot that that's free. Get in.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Ain'tn't need me looking at a car my card shot.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: But what is we looking for? I'm looking for a
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: way to get this card shot. Oh I see what? Shoot?
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: She broke up? Yeah, all right. Look, we'll have part
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: two of Steve's response coming up in twenty three after
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: the hour. Right after this you're listening to. All right, Steve,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: we're back part two of the Strawberry Letter. We need
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: to recap subject. I was willing to settle for a loser.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: The title alone, it leads to a catastrophe. Loser. The
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: guy you met was sweet, tall, handsome, but he didn't
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: approach you. Your approach show. Then you found out all
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: this negative stuff about him. He didn't have a car.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: You had to pick him up, he needed a new job.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: He back on child support. His girlfriend put him on
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: child support. I told him, missus statement, since you're invited
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: him to dinner because of the conversation, the car, you
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: had to pay for dinner. He let you. I saw
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: the red flags with him, but I did not run
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: away from this. I've said before, ladies stop collecting red flags. Question. Yes, um,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: was it wrong? Because a lot of people, especially young
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: women these days, Steve, they will ask a guy out.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Let's hear your opinion as chief Love off on that
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: you can ask a guy out like as times are different.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: So you can ask a guy, but you have to
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: ask yourself this question. Him being the hunter as we are,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: why didn't he ever ask you? Could it be he
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: wasn't interested? Could it be that he don't have himself together?
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Or just could it be he know he ain't got
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: nothing off, which is pretty much the same as he
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: ain't got somelf together. So when you walk up to
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: these men and you hit on them quite naturally, they
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: think something is up. So they're gonna go on, they
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: go out with you. Yeah, they're gonna do what they do.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Ye try, but when you see the red flags, you
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: gotta stop collect that's right, you're you're you're right to
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: send that message to women. We can't. We have to
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: stop ignoring the red flags, especially when they're there blaring.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: They're right there, you know, definitely. So you're saying it's
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: okay to ask a man out, but just be aware
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: of what you might get you might get. Be aware
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: that you didn't ask, that he didn't ask you. We
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: see you ain't no fine woman, walking up us and
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: we didn't see her coming. We ain't have a surprise.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Oh man, she came over here a man. Look at
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: my lucky day. And that's exactly what it is. And
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: it happens that way. So ladies, stop settling. She said,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I was willing to settle for a loser. You can't
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: settle for losers, Ladies. When you settle for losers, you
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: find yourself getting further and further behind where you're trying
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to get to. You want a loving, committed relationship with
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: a wonderful man that has a plan. But when you do,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: when you date these losers and you know they losers,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: then you just further putting yourself behind the eight ball.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: You're never gonna get to where you want to be. So, ladies,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: as times have changed and women are becoming a little
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: bit more aggressive, yeah, still at the end of the
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: day you met, just walk in front of him a
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: couple of times. You're hone, he gonna see you, He's
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: gonna stop. Oh I'm sorry, but I've even I've even
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: heard of women who proposed to men, you know, yeah, definitely, Yeah.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: What do you think as chief love officer? I mean,
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I don't know how that works. He gets on her
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: knee and what he gets the act of that doesn't
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: seem like a small move to me. But I have
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: heard of that, you know, Yeah, yeah, definitely, especially with
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: the you know, the younger women that's done it here.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: They think, you know, a lot of the tradition is
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: old fashioned and things like that. So you get on
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: your knee. I help you up when you get through
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: as well. But but and another thing, he red flag.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I gotta figure out how you had these flags and
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: the flags don't be noticeable. That's what you gotta work on.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: How you getting You don't want people to see your
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: flag if it's if I had a green trying to hell. No,
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: this is National Woman's Day. That's why a lot of
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: people in the Atlanta right, not you, Tommy right, they
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: get specific. But I did want to ask you, Steve,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: how how would a man feel? How does a man
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: feel if a woman proposes to him? I mean, speaking
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: from a man's perspective, I don't know. I would be
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: thrown off with it. What do you mean? I mean,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: you've taken a moment away from me. It ain't You're
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: gonna ask you the man, You're gonna say you looking
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: as now. No, I have told her hell, yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: I'm just giving the mine. Yeah, y'all ain't. Yeah, but
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: but it would have thrown you off. It would have
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: thrown you off. It most definitely would have thrown I
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: can't imagine her saying that. And life is tough enough, ladies. Yeah,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: you know, somebody sent me something one day. They said,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: life is too short for me to wait on you,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: to act like I ain't got time for you to wait. Yeah,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I'm grown, you grown. If this ain't what you want,
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: let's just keep on moving, but don't play with me. Well,
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: I mean, what about him though, calling her bougie a
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: bogie halflf, Well, he ain't got nothing. Next, what was
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: he gonna do? What was he gonna do? Threatened to
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: leave us somewhere, he ain't gonna cocky, but she picked
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: him up paper dinner, that's all he had. He tried
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: to swing with what they had, so he resort to
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: name on it. Yeah, I'm telling her she should be
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: a ride or die type of chick. He ain't ride
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: or die his car in the shop. So in situations
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: like this, the same advice for women. You're saying as well, well,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: I just think that women. Women definitely have to not compromise.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: They have to be aware of their value that they
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: have and what they bring to the table. And if
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: a man can't match what you bring to the table,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: or if he doesn't have a plan that will match us,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: a pass what you got. They're just gonna keep moving.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: So when he initially told her he couldn't pay for dinner,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: his girlfriend was getting him for child support and he
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: didn't have a car. What should she have done at that?
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: She should have stopped at the semi level and went
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: in the front door and walked out, took back call
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: her girlfriend about three hours later, went back over there
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: and pitch your call right where he Yeah, I can
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: not only can I not pay for dinner, I ain't
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: got no car to drive us away from dinner. Sometimes
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: we can as women, be too nice, you know, or
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: try to fix try to fix things, try to think
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: he's going to change, you know, we can change a
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: man and all of that. So, yeah, definitely, Steve great advice.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Don't compromise your standards, don't settle, and do not ignore
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: those red flags. Ladies. All right, listen, we gotta get
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: out of here. Happy International Women's Day to all the
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: women too. Yes, you can email us or instagram us
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: your thoughts on today's Strawberry Letter at Steve Harvey FM.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Now coming up in ten minutes. President Trump's White House
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: doesn't invite women's sports teams to the White House. What's
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: up with that? Yeah? What Jay? We'll talk about it
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: right after this. You're listening to Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: President Donald Trump's relationships with championship sports teams I've made
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: new several times, whether it's a fast food buffet with
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: the Clemson Tigers or an invitation to the Golden State
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Warriors withdrawn after some players said they boycott. Remember that.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: But one thing you haven't read about, guys, is a
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: woman's team being served cold fast food or a woman's
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: team having its invitation withdrawn. And it's because this White
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: House is not recognizing or celebrating should I say, women's
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: championship teams? How about that they're not recognizing them or
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: they're not celebrating women's championship. Surprised as the way he
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: treats women. Look how he treats his wife. He leaves you,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: don't open the doorful, he ain't got no shivers. He's
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: the worst example of a gentleman. I've ever ever opened doors.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: He walked in front of them. You're sitting in the car, man, Yeah,
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: that Trump. Don't do nothing. Man. He posted her hands.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: I don't remember. She canceled her trip to Davos. I've
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: never seen a guy so disrespectful of the first lady
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: in the White House, any of the president. You know,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: he'll get out the car and just get on the plane,
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: just leave her. And never opened the door for never
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: any but when he's never done it. Remember when he
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: tried to grab her hand and stuff and she swatted
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: him away or he snatched back. Oh don't do this
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: for the cameras. You don't do it any other time. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: so that's what it is, Okay. I mean she's saying maybe,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: but the whale bump when it's totally different Obama and Michelle.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I mean that was just he had been doing that
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: for years everything. He's just that guy. He's a gentle
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: she required. Yeah. And and they not only loved each other,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: but they actually liked each other. I don't think they
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: like ye, it was millennium millennia, and I don't think.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: I don't think he likes anybody. But the guy who's
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: keeping that here peace. Well, according to the Washington Post,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: not a single women's championship team has made a solo
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: visit to the White House under President Trump. Uh. This is,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: according to the Washington Post, not two thousand and eighteen
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: women's NCUBAA basketball champions Uh, Notre Dame. Not the two
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: thousand and seventeen w NBA champion Minnesota Links or the
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: two thousand and eighteen w NBA champion Seattle Storm. Wow.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: What's I mean? Come on, why would they want that? Right?
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: President Trump? We all know this has a history of
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: attacking women by mocking their bodily functioned demeaning their looks.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: He is called women fat and ugly. Do you remember
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: when he posted a picture of Ted Cruz's wife saying
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: images are worth a thousand words and yeah, and and
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: pretty recently, after Amarossa left the White House he called
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: her that dog. Yeah you know, I mean President Yea
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: of the United States. Wow. Well, anyway, Steve, I mean,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: speaking of politics, let's talk about the twenty twenty Democratic
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: presidential race. Shell. Well, they're they're they're twelve Democratic candidates
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: so far, and five of them are women. All right,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Kamala Harris out of California. First, Yeah, Elizabeth Warren out
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: of New Hampshire. That's too, Christian Gillibrand out of New York,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: or Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar out of Minnesota. And then there's
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Tulsey Gabber Hawaii, Amy clob char and Selsea Gabbart. I mean,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: it really is a historical year for women in the
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: House and the Senate. I remember last year we only
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: had one female candidate, and that of running anyway when
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: it was all said and done, that was Hillary Clinton.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: But yeah, she's not running for this race. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: she did make that, but she is. She is participating
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: in the process. She's meeting with the candidates and stuff
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: like that. Now, I mean, one of these women could
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: be our next president, you never know. I mean, yeah,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: it's important to vote though, That's the main thing, right Steve, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: I mean we can really make a difference, you know.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I mean it's no secret that black women have shown
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: up in the elections, definitely. You know, it's a little
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: early right now, it is in the presidential election because
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: even this year, and I'm not voting just because a
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: person is a Democrat or an independent or any of that.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna vote for who I think can get
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: us beyond this Trump four year period, So who can
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: beat him? Yeah, and that's how the Democrats got to
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: think of us the plan who can beat Donald Trump?
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Right now? As it sits right now, he'll get reading.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: But they need to huddle up and get it together.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, because it's really sad because his
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: base has not dwindled at all. But now remember this.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Now he lost the election by almost three four million votes,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: so that he's not the most popular president. He lost
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: by a lot of votes. We just have to tighten
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: up with how we do this because they electoral votes
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: to steal what he's gonna be counting right now. He's
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: still good in the same place as he was before.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: So if they don't get this electoral thing to other,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: he's gonna be right back in there. He can lose
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: by five million votes and still be the president. And
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: by the way, Steve, you're absolutely right. In case you
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: missed it, President Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manaford was
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: sentenced to forty seven months in prison for lying and
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: taxis just one month less than four years. Yeah, oh yeah,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: we got a vote. Yea, let's go, lady, Let's get
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: to those polls. That's right, all right, coming up, we're
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: gonna talk about the dynamic women in music. God, you're
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: listening to show, all right, We're we're gonna spend this
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: time just honoring women on this International Women's Day. A
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: lot of great women in music now, great women in
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: mute movies and journalism. Everywhere you look. I mean, women
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: are in Congress. Look at Congress right now, yeah, political leaders, yes,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: everything you know? Yeah, shot up to her. U hr.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: You know she's a dynamic young lady in music now. Yeah,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: she won the Grammy for Best New Artist, and looking
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: for great things from her? Her? Who? Her? I know her? Her? Steve?
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Who is your all time favorite female singer? Dynamic singer
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: all times? Wow? Wow, think about that. I've gotten the
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: most enjoyment from listening to Yes Anita Breaker, Yes, okay,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: yeah boom Anita Breaker. I've spent more time listening to
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: her music. She's giving me so much. I mean, she's
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: a woman album that I would buy and just listen to. Wow.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: You know you bring me joy all fairy tales. I apologize, man,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: it is one of my favorite souls. You know. I
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: never knew that about you because you always talk about
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: your male the guys, players and people like that. But
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: I've never known you to speak of one your favorite
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: female artists man as a singer. Her voice. Now, Whitney
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: had the best voice, She's had the best voice. But
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: when I wanted to listen to soul music and she
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: sang about stuff that I could relate to, Man, you
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: bring me joy that she got so many hits, But
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Anita Baker's voice, Man, for me, she's really been one
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: of my favorite female singers. Now, I tell you the
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: other female that I got the most enjoyment listening to
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: with Sean Day. Oh yeah, because I loved all that.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Steve's bla to the to our younger listener,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: But they don't know sultry, sultry, sultry soul, sultry soul. Oh,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: she had a resident in her voice. She sang from
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: a place. Man, Is it a crime that I still
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: won't you even though yeah, you don't want me too, boy,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: But you don't even understand what Sean Day did. Man.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Sean Day wrote some songs, man, and still that with
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: no dancing. You ain't going to her show for dancing. No,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: but yeah she didn't. Yeah, flat footed and blue like Whitney.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: When were no dancing with Whitney? When? When when Whitney paralyzed?
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: You damn voice? Man, Oh my god, that girl's voice,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: you know? And uh and then I'm gonna tell you.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: As a kid, my favorite female artist was Dyna right
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: as a kid, man, I mean, I loved her. She
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: was fabulous. Nothing about her that was wrong to me.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: I love which female artists have I jammed to the most? Okay,
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: that damn Shaka Khana that too? Do you hear me? Yes?
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I hear you them girls, Man, Shaka Khan's voice one
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: of a kind. Now, you don't redo Shaka Khan songs.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: First of all, you can't hit none of them. Note
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: yeah out man. I've had just strong ties to music
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and women. Now today, the greatest female performer that I've
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: ever seen in my life. I saw a niece with
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: jay Z. Her name beyond her name, her name Beyonce,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: her name beyond. She is the greatest female performer I've
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: ever seen. The best voice belongs to Whitney, you know,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: but Beyonce can say dance and put on the show.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: That girl right there, man, is on a whole other level, man,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: And know those are my thoughts on the Women's Day.

- 1:24:17Speaker 1: very special to me too, Sonny. But we gotta give

- 1:27:46Speaker 1: so we're all getting together. We're honoring isn't she beautiful?
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: We're honoring her. She turned seventy five and her theme
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: is pretty as a Peacock at seventy five, So we're
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: all the theme is we're all wearing royal blues and
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: just peacock colors and things like that, just to celebrate her. Yeah.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: So we're doing that, and I'm excited about that because
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: she's been like a mom to me as well. And

- 1:28:39Speaker 1: That isn't that? That's the left March seventeenth. Yeah, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: you just say you know lecas sat pattish you say
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: yeah leprecha, thank you eat damn near Lilapusian you know
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: them Litlapusians at gul of his eyes. To be quiet, Tommy,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: all right, we'll be back with more of the Steve
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show right after this. Tommy, love you whatever
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: you're listening to. Today's International Women's Day, and this year's
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: theme is hashtag balance for Better campaign. Balance is not
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: a women's issue. It's a business issue, a gender balance
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: of employees and more gender balance in wealth. Hello, Yes,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: that's my favorite one right there. Gender balance is essential
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: for economies and communities to thrive. From concerts and conferences
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: to fun runs and festivals. Celebrate International Women's Day with friends, family,
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: and colleagues, raise awareness, celebrated achievement, or rally for change. So, Steve,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Tommy and Jay, we gotta ask you, guys, who are
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: some of the most inspirational important women in your lives?
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: Hands down, ill lawss Vera Harvey. Yeah, my mama man
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: singly the single best human being I ever met. I've
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: never bet I never met a human being better than her?
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: And what was so special about your mom's Steve? I mean,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I'm sure, there were many things. My mother's love was
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: genuine concerned for me, her incredible passion and desire as
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: a Sunday school teacher, for so many people, but for
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: especially her boy. She wanted me to understand the power
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: of prayer and relationship with God. The boy. If you please,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: if you don't get nothing else, I get you, get
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: this call when I'm going here, he ain't going nowhere. Wow.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: And that was the most powerful She gave me, the
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: most powerful gift I've ever had. She taught me about
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: faith and you were the baby of the family. Yeah,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: she taught all of it. But yeah, I mean this
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: story it did my sister's like Jesse's saved as my
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: mama was. But for me, it has been the basis
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: of my success. If it wasn't for that, I have
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: no way of getting here, no way I could have
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: gotten That's major. What about you, j oh It had
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: to be Annyalie Brown, your mother, man was the main
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: I mean, my biggest fan. When I was doing that
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: other show. You could only hear that other show. I
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: gotta tell y'all story, the story or not I was doing.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: I was doing that other show, right, and this is
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: like this shows how much a mother is behind what
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: you're doing. You could only hear it in the car.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: For some reason, the show only came on in the
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: car at the first part of when We Before they
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: came on in Columbia, South Carolina. My mama would sit
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: in the car every day and listening to her baby
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: boy on the radio because I bought it up car.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Now here's the here's the funny place. She said to me,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: do you think people would think I'm crazy? And I
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: said to my mama, if I saw a fat black
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: lady sitting in the car every day, laughing for four hours,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: yes I would think they were crazy. He said that
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: to your mother. But that's just stuff such the inspiration
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: I go. And then, you know, whenever I would go
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: do a shot, I call her in the morning before
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: I started up. She said, go get him, and I said,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I got him. And the weird part about when she
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: passed away. I was doing a show and get ready
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: to go on the stage and the guy said get him.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: And nobody's ever said that to me. It was just
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: maybe a way my mom was speaking to the man.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: My mom was my biggest fan man so much. That's
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: so awesome, really, it is International Women's Day today. We're
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: celebrating all day. We're just going around the room asking
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: the guys who's the most inspirational woman in their lives? Nephew, Hey,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: they're great, Hey, they're great. All right, coming up on
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: this International Women's Day, we'll close it up with our
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: last break of the day and some closing remarks for
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: the ladies, right Steve in our audience, I'll right great. Uh,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: Steve's closing remarks for the ladies right after this. You're
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: listening to show all right, here we are on this Friday,
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: last break of the day, last break of the week.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: It is International Women's Month, I told you, and we're
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: celebrating today. Today is International Women's Day. And for that,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: of course, our fearless leader, the one and only Steve Harvey,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: has a message for the ladies. Take it away, Steve. Uh,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: you know, um, just being an international Lady's Day, Ummen's Day,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Women's Day. I don't I don't know what this would
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: be like without women. I wouldn't even want to see it.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: You know, we talk about you know, we always use
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: great women as an example, or let's say, more famous
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: or popular women. But you know what, the best women
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I ever really knew they wasn't famous at all. A
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: matter of fact, they were. They were famous in churches,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: they were famous in neighborhoods, famous on the block. They
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: was famous for something that didn't get a lot of
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: national recognition. The ain't no days for them. They won't
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: get their name on the sidewalk in Hollywood. They'll never
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: be up for an immage of you know, image awards
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: for him. You know, they won't see you know, their
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: names up in lights. But you know what they are.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: There's something that's so incredible that really ain't word for it,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: but they have a word for them. They call mothers.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: What an incredible honor it must be to be a mother.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: This is something men will never ever have any concept
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: of nowever of you, it can't have the notion of
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: what they are. The respect is actually owed to them,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: that's due to them simply because they can perform the
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: most miraculous act on earth. A woman can give birth,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: a woman brings new life into the world, just a
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: woman that act alone, that magnificent, incredible act. It's what
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: separates them, fellas, and that's why we owe them such
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: a debt of gratitude. That's why we're real men. We
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: protect our mother's soul. Man, we protect our other soul,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: soul soul. Our mothers are the first relationship we've ever
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: had with a woman. It's the first time we felt
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: the love of a woman. It's the first woman we've
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: ever loved, just the first woman we ever told we love.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: It's our mama. It's our mama. It's who we run
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: to when we don't feel good. It's who picks us
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: up when we down. When I would fall and get
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: hurt as a little boy, I never ran to my father.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: I ran to her because she was a mother man.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: She was my mama. And all of you women out
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: there and who are mothers, take pride in the fact
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: that you perform a duty. You have something that you
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: can do that men can't do. Men can talk all
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: they want. I'm gonna say this to men out here.
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: And I was doing a thing on the show to
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: day and we were talking about this shivalry dad, and
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: we was talking about how women could be on more
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: dates if they would agree to go Dutch. And I
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: just didn't agree with any of that. And one of
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: the dudes was telling me, Steve, that's just cause you
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: old school man. Times is changed. Well, you know what
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: time shouldn't it changed? Because I don't see how it is.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Why to have a woman's company you aught to required
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: that she split the bill. I didn't get it. What
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: a woman can give you you couldn't pay for. Man.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: In a million years, I've never required that a woman
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: buy me a play of food. You gotta be kidding me, man.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: Just to be sitting across the table from her is
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: an honor. To pull out her chair is an honor.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: To open her door is an honor. To be there
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: to greet her when she comes home. It's an honor.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: To protect her is my honor. To provide for her
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: is my honor. It's my duty as a man to
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: pay her back for that one thing that they can
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: do that we can't do, and that's produce a human life.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: We got a lot of nerves man, As men, we
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: got a lot of nerves making our women feel some
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: of the ways that we've made them feel, pimping them,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: playing them, brainwashing them, tricking them, writing about them in
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: our music like they have no value at all. We
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: got a lot of nerve, man, when all these women
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: we see want to write about all crazy in these songs.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: Your mama is one of them, your beloved mother who
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: gave you life. Would you allow someone to talk to
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: her like that? Would you allow someone to refer to
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: her in that way? I bet you wouldn't. How about
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: your grandmama? Would you let somebody talk about your grandmother?
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: The way we've managed to turn this thing in our
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: songs and stuff. I'm so glad to see young men
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: dressing now. I'm so glad to see them at the parties,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: putting on suits and ties again, and they don't stopped
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: all that ignorant sagging and mess and giving women something
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: else to look at. But since we're dressing up real
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: good while we're fixing ourselves, fellas to look better for
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: women need to fix our music too. You need to
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: fix the way we sing about them, the way we
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: talk about them, the way we report about them, the
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: way we write about them. We gotta get back to
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: honoring them. We gotta get back to the way it
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: was that women were treat it different because they were different,
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: because they're special. I'm not trying to sound chauvinistic, and
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: I'm not saying women don't deserve equal rights and equal
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: pay because you do. But I enjoy treating women different.
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: It's my honor to treat them different. And I wish
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: we would all just honor women that way, treat them different. Man.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: I ain't saying you can't make mistakes and you can't
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: break up and all that, But at the end of
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: the day, we owe them a deta gratic a data
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: a data gratitude because they could do one thing we
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: can't do, and that's produce human life. And for that,
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: and Lord, they deserve our other love and respect. Have
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: a great evil. All Steve Harvey contests no purchase necessary,
