- 0:00Speaker 1: First of all, thank you, mister President, because this has
- 0:02Speaker 1: happened at lighting speed by a ticket for one hundred bucks.
- 0:05Speaker 1: By the time you check out, it's one hundred and seventy.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You don't know what you can charge for. I would
- 0:09Speaker 1: love down the road if there'd be some legislation we
- 0:11Speaker 1: could actually put a cap the resale of tickets us
- 0:14Speaker 1: as artists be able to get the tickets into the
- 0:16Speaker 1: hands of the fans at the prices we set. I
- 0:18Speaker 1: would rather be a hero up to the working class
- 0:20Speaker 1: people and have them be able to come attend my
- 0:22Speaker 1: shows and give them a fair ticket price. I can't
- 0:24Speaker 1: control that right now, so hopefully this is estab so
- 0:26Speaker 1: really don't want to make that happen.
- 0:28Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning, Ben Ferguson with you. It's nice to
- 0:34Speaker 3: have you on the forty seven Morning Update. And here
- 0:37Speaker 3: are the three big stories that you need to know about.
- 0:39Speaker 3: First up, it was election night in America and the
- 0:42Speaker 3: good news is we came away with three victories and
- 0:46Speaker 3: one loss, giving Donald Trump more breathing room in the house.
- 0:50Speaker 3: How important is that for the America? First agenda. I'll
- 0:53Speaker 3: break it down for you. Also, Donald Trump is declaring
- 0:57Speaker 3: today as Liberation Day. Now what does that mean for you?
- 1:01Speaker 3: I'll explain it. And finally, Doge has found more waste
- 1:05Speaker 3: and fraud and your tax dollar is going to extreme
- 1:09Speaker 3: liberal groups. It's the forty seven Morning Update and it
- 1:13Speaker 3: starts right now.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 1:15Speaker 3: It was a very important election day in two different
- 1:18Speaker 3: states in America on April the first, and it had
- 1:22Speaker 3: a major impact on what agenda items could get through
- 1:25Speaker 3: Congress when it comes to Donald Trump's America First agenda.
- 1:30Speaker 3: So let's start with Florida's special elections. To be very clear,
- 1:34Speaker 3: Democrats went all in in Florida, outspending Republicans in some
- 1:40Speaker 3: scenarios ten to one, Thank goodness. In Florida's first congressional district,
- 1:46Speaker 3: the Donald Trump candidate had a huge victory, securing that
- 1:51Speaker 3: victory over a Democrat who outspent him in a major way.
- 1:56Speaker 3: He still received the Republican candidate fifty six point nine
- 2:00Speaker 3: percent of the vote. This was massive for President Trump
- 2:03Speaker 3: because it was an endorsement and an important ally for him.
- 2:07Speaker 3: So after that, we moved to Florida's sixth Congressional district,
- 2:11Speaker 3: and the Republican there won the seat vacated by Mike Waltz,
- 2:15Speaker 3: who became President Trump's National security advisor. The Democrat also
- 2:20Speaker 3: outspent him when it came to trying to buy that election,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and yes, he won by fifty six point seven percent
- 2:28Speaker 3: of the vote. This will give Donald Trump some major
- 2:31Speaker 3: breathing room. It also will allow for Speaker Johnson to
- 2:35Speaker 3: do his job the way that he needs to, not
- 2:38Speaker 3: having to worry as much about one random member of
- 2:41Speaker 3: Congress coming in and ruining his entire day. He will
- 2:46Speaker 3: actually be able to lead the Republican Party in a
- 2:49Speaker 3: much more effective way. For Donald Trump as well. So
- 2:53Speaker 3: this was a massive victory. Now let's move on to Wisconsin.
- 2:58Speaker 3: There was another victory. It will have a major impact
- 3:02Speaker 3: around the country and it involves Wisconsin's voter ID amendment. Now,
- 3:08Speaker 3: Wisconsin voters approved a constitutional amendment to enshrine the state's
- 3:14Speaker 3: photo ID requirement for voting into the state constitution. The
- 3:19Speaker 3: amendment passed with approximately sixty three percent of the vote,
- 3:24Speaker 3: reflecting a commitment to election security measures supported by many conservatives.
- 3:30Speaker 3: This law also have a huge impact around the country,
- 3:34Speaker 3: as Republicans will now look at this vote in Wisconsin
- 3:37Speaker 3: and say it's time to move to make sure that
- 3:40Speaker 3: each and every state has not only voter ID laws,
- 3:44Speaker 3: but also they are a part of the state constitution. Now,
- 3:48Speaker 3: it wasn't a clean sweep on election night. There was
- 3:51Speaker 3: also the Wisconsin Supreme Court election. It was a setback
- 3:55Speaker 3: for conservatives as a liberal judge by the name of
- 3:58Speaker 3: Susan Crawford was elected to the Wasi Conson Supreme Court,
- 4:01Speaker 3: defeating the conservative candidate who had the backing of President
- 4:05Speaker 3: Trump and Elon Musk. Crawford's victory preserves the court's four
- 4:10Speaker 3: to three liberal majority, which could influence decisions on key
- 4:14Speaker 3: issues such as abortion and labor rights. But overall, three
- 4:19Speaker 3: major victories and a margin that is greater in the
- 4:23Speaker 3: House will serve the President and the American people. Well, yes,
- 4:28Speaker 3: we had a loss, but overall, three to one victory
- 4:31Speaker 3: on election day is always a good thing.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Next story number two.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Today will be a day you will remember for quite
- 4:38Speaker 3: some time. April twenty twenty five. President Donald Trump has
- 4:43Speaker 3: marked this day as Liberation Day by introducing a series
- 4:47Speaker 3: of tariffs aimed at revitalizing American industry and reducing our
- 4:52Speaker 3: reliance on foreign imports. This initiative is part of his
- 4:57Speaker 3: broader strategy to address long standing trade and balances and
- 5:01Speaker 3: bolster domestic manufacturing. So what are the key aspects of
- 5:06Speaker 3: the tariff policy that you need to know about? Well,
- 5:10Speaker 3: it is a reciprocal tariffs. The Administration plans to implement
- 5:14Speaker 3: tariffs that mirror the duties other countries are imposing on
- 5:18Speaker 3: US products, promoting fair trade relationships. This approach is designed
- 5:24Speaker 3: to encourage trading partners to lower their tariffs and engage
- 5:28Speaker 3: in more actual trade practices. The White House says support
- 5:33Speaker 3: for domestic manufacturing is also part two of the White
- 5:37Speaker 3: House's Plan Today. By making imported goods more expensive, the
- 5:42Speaker 3: tariffs aim to incentivize companies to produce goods within the
- 5:45Speaker 3: United States, potentially leading to job creation at record numbers
- 5:50Speaker 3: and a strengthened industrial base in America. There's also a
- 5:55Speaker 3: third aspect of the White House Plan Today, and it
- 5:59Speaker 3: deals with national security considerations. Reducing dependence on foreign suppliers
- 6:05Speaker 3: for critical goods is intended to enhance national security by
- 6:10Speaker 3: ensuring that essential industries are robust and self reliant in America.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Much of this we learned during COVID when so many
- 6:20Speaker 3: things that we desperately needed for our safety were not
- 6:24Speaker 3: coming into America from places like China. Now. Supporters of
- 6:29Speaker 3: the policies of the White House argue that these measures
- 6:32Speaker 3: will correct decades of unfair trade practices that have disadvantaged
- 6:37Speaker 3: American workers specifically, as well as industries. They believe at
- 6:43Speaker 3: the White House that despite potential short term adjustments, the
- 6:47Speaker 3: long term benefits will include a more resilient economy and
- 6:51Speaker 3: a fair global trade environment. To be clear, President Trump
- 6:57Speaker 3: has emphasized that Liberation Day represents a pivotal moment in
- 7:01Speaker 3: reclaiming economic independence and prioritizing American interests in global trade.
- 7:08Speaker 3: The administration remains optimistic that these policies will ultimately lead
- 7:14Speaker 3: to renewed growth and prosperity for American businesses, small businesses,
- 7:20Speaker 3: and most importantly, American workers.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And finally, story number three is.
- 7:25Speaker 3: The cover up worse than the crime? Well, in this
- 7:28Speaker 3: instance it may not be Elon Musk leading. The Department
- 7:33Speaker 3: of Government Efficiency has uncovered that employees at the US
- 7:38Speaker 3: Institute of Peace known as USIP attempted to delete a
- 7:43Speaker 3: terabide of financial data amid an investigation into the agency's
- 7:50Speaker 3: overall operations must reported that despite this deletion attempt, thank goodness,
- 7:57Speaker 3: the DOEGE team successfully recovered the data, highlighting their technological proficiency.
- 8:05Speaker 3: The recovery data allegedly reveals significant financial misconduct as well,
- 8:11Speaker 3: including unauthorized payments to entities such as the Taliban and
- 8:18Speaker 3: Iraqi leaders. This discovery underscores the effectiveness of doge's initiative
- 8:23Speaker 3: in identifying and addressing corruption within government agencies. This incident
- 8:29Speaker 3: serves as a testament to the commitment of Musk and
- 8:32Speaker 3: the White House and the DOGE team to enhance transparency
- 8:37Speaker 3: and accountability and government operations, ensuring that attempts to conceal
- 8:42Speaker 3: illicted activities are promptly exposed and rectified. In fact, in
- 8:48Speaker 3: an interview, Elon Moss says that DOGE is the opposite
- 8:51Speaker 3: of what they're uncovering, that they are the most transparent
- 8:55Speaker 3: organization the government has ever seen.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Well, everything that those is an open book, so we're
- 9:02Speaker 4: i think the most transparent action. That was most transparent
- 9:06Speaker 4: organization in government ever. Every single DOGE action is listed
- 9:10Speaker 4: on the dose dot gov website. It's also listed on
- 9:13Speaker 4: the x handle, So if anyone has a concern about
- 9:16Speaker 4: any one of those actions. They can bring that up,
- 9:18Speaker 4: they can raise that, and I do want to say,
- 9:21Speaker 4: like sometimes we make a mistake, nobody bats a thousand.
- 9:23Speaker 4: We will at times make mistake and make mistake, will
- 9:27Speaker 4: act very quickly to correct it. I am under such
- 9:31Speaker 4: an extreme spotlight, so much screwed me that is literally
- 9:33Speaker 4: impossible for me to get away with anything nefarious, and
- 9:37Speaker 4: obviously nor do I wish to. So this is a
- 9:41Speaker 4: case where we have radical trans radical transparency. We're actually
- 9:47Speaker 4: willing to admit that we do make mistakes. Often people
- 9:50Speaker 4: are not willing to admit they make mistakes, but we are.
- 9:53Speaker 4: But we want to emphasize we fix them quickly. And
- 9:55Speaker 4: we're trying to do the right thing for the American taxpayer,
- 9:57Speaker 4: for the American people. And I think history will be
- 9:59Speaker 4: the judge that what we've done here and what we're
- 10:02Speaker 4: doing is a very good thing for the strength and
- 10:05Speaker 4: future of America.
- 10:06Speaker 3: There's no doubt that the American people are still overwhelming
- 10:10Speaker 3: in the polls behind Elon Musk, Doge and Donald Trump
- 10:15Speaker 3: because of what they're finding, and much of what they're
- 10:18Speaker 3: finding now is government employees trying to cover up and
- 10:22Speaker 3: delete what they've been doing with your tax dollars in
- 10:25Speaker 3: the past.
