Sweet Corn Ready Early This Year | Sioux City News
Sweet corn in Iowa’s hitting the market early this year—thanks to warm springs and timely rain. Farmers planted back in late March, and modern genetics mean corn’s already shoulder-high by July 4th. Grimes Sweetcorn’s Nate Christenson says they plant in waves to keep fresh corn flowing all summer and into fall. July’s peak, but the harvest rolls on through September and even early October. Check their Facebook page for local stand times—fresh corn’s just a few days away.
