- 0:00Speaker 1: There are two things right now that if you're listening
- 0:03Speaker 1: to me, you need to know about that's going on,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and both of them are significant. One is this spending
- 0:10Speaker 1: bill that has nothing to do with COVID nineteen relief.
- 0:15Speaker 1: They're gonna send you a fourteen hundred bucks, same amount
- 0:17Speaker 1: they're going to send to a legal immigrants, same amount
- 0:20Speaker 1: that they give to illegal immigrants. That's how little they
- 0:22Speaker 1: think of you, the American people. This the Democrats doing this.
- 0:26Speaker 1: John Kennedy had a brilliant point to say about this, sender,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Kenny saying, this is a nothing but a neo socialist
- 0:35Speaker 1: wish list from the Democratic Party. And this is not
- 0:39Speaker 1: about helping Americans. It certainly is not about COVID nineteen relief,
- 0:42Speaker 1: because what one percent of the bill is actually dealing
- 0:45Speaker 1: with COVID nineteen. Take a listen to this clip from Fox.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Ninety five percent of President Biden's bill is not going
- 0:55Speaker 1: to even be spent until two thousand and twenty two
- 1:00Speaker 1: and beyond. This isn't a coronavirus bill. This is a
- 1:06Speaker 1: left of linen neo socialist wish list. I mean, it
- 1:09Speaker 1: just is. It is chock full of spending porn. They've
- 1:13Speaker 1: got money for transit projects and bridges and language preservation
- 1:19Speaker 1: billions for people who are in our country illegally. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: am all for spending additional moneies to combat the coronavirus.
- 1:30Speaker 1: But this bill isn't it. You know, this bill isn't it.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And the point that he's making is absolutely right, is
- 1:38Speaker 1: that none of this money is going to be spent
- 1:39Speaker 1: for a while. This is just a big spending bill
- 1:42Speaker 1: in the name of COVID. Right, We've got you over
- 1:44Speaker 1: a barrel, We've freaked you out. We've told you that
- 1:48Speaker 1: you cannot pose any of this because it is a
- 1:52Speaker 1: COVID bill, and the COVID bill you cannot say no
- 1:56Speaker 1: to because it has the word COVID in it. Now,
- 2:00Speaker 1: while this is all going on, and we'll get into
- 2:02Speaker 1: a little bit more about the bill, there's something else
- 2:04Speaker 1: that's happening right now that they are using the COVID
- 2:07Speaker 1: bill to distract you, and that is the big fight
- 2:11Speaker 1: for minimum wage increase. We now know that there's some
- 2:14Speaker 1: Republicans that are fighting for a minimum wage increase. The
- 2:19Speaker 1: number that they're going for the romneys of the Republican Party.
- 2:23Speaker 1: They're now demanding ten dollars an hour minimum wage in
- 2:26Speaker 1: this country. We'll debate the ten arbitrary number in a moment,
- 2:33Speaker 1: but fifteen dollars is where the Democrats are right now.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Fifteen dollars what the Democrats want. Fifteen dollars what the
- 2:39Speaker 1: Democrats demand. It's what they've said that is the only
- 2:43Speaker 1: amount of money that they will actually tolerates, the only
- 2:44Speaker 1: amount of money that they will accept. Now, there are
- 2:49Speaker 1: Democrats right now that are very upset that this may
- 2:54Speaker 1: not happen. There's going to be a lot of Americans
- 2:56Speaker 1: that will be unemployed. In fact, that the Congressional Budget
- 2:59Speaker 1: Office says that if if you do pass fifteen dollarminum wage,
- 3:01Speaker 1: which is exactly what all of us knew anyway, but
- 3:03Speaker 1: they've confirmed it now, is that you're gonna lose millions
- 3:07Speaker 1: of jobs. It may lift some people out of poverty,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but it's also going to have millions of Americans that
- 3:12Speaker 1: will then either be underemployed. And the definition of underemployed
- 3:17Speaker 1: is an important one that everybody should understand when you're
- 3:20Speaker 1: arguing over fifteen dollar minum wage. Being under employed means this,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you don't have the number of hours that you need
- 3:29Speaker 1: to make a living when you have numbers that go up.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Right when you when you have the numbers, or when
- 3:36Speaker 1: you have the dollar per hour go up, many employers
- 3:39Speaker 1: will cut you back. It's what happened with the Obamacare mandate.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Obamacare mandate, you had millions of Americans that became underemployed
- 3:47Speaker 1: overnight because of a healthcare bill. And you may say, well,
- 3:50Speaker 1: how do those two go hand in hand. It's a
- 3:51Speaker 1: great question. Obamacare underemployed Americans with Obamacare, Obama Biden did
- 3:57Speaker 1: by mandating that if you did forty hours a week,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you had to be you had to be given healthcare.
- 4:05Speaker 1: You had to have healthcare offered as an employer, right,
- 4:09Speaker 1: That's something you had to do. You absolutely had to
- 4:12Speaker 1: have this certain amount of care because all americanserve healthcare.
- 4:16Speaker 1: If you show up and work forty hours a week
- 4:18Speaker 1: the actual number was thirty hours. If you were employed
- 4:21Speaker 1: more than thirty hours or more is how the law
- 4:23Speaker 1: was written, you had to offer healthcare. There's a lot
- 4:27Speaker 1: of jobs that could not offer healthcare. There was a
- 4:29Speaker 1: lot of people that couldn't afford it. So what ended
- 4:31Speaker 1: up happening you under employed people. You went to somebody
- 4:34Speaker 1: that had a job that they were happy with where
- 4:36Speaker 1: they were getting forty hours a week, right, and then
- 4:39Speaker 1: they turned it to thirty hours a week, or actually
- 4:42Speaker 1: twenty nine to make sure because your HR department said, look,
- 4:47Speaker 1: don't let anybody go over twenty nine hours, right, don't
- 4:50Speaker 1: let anyone go over twenty nine hours. If you let
- 4:52Speaker 1: them go over twenty nine hours, if you do that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: then you have to offer them healthcare. They were there
- 4:57Speaker 1: was a way where they're saying, there's no doubt, you
- 5:00Speaker 1: gotta have this twenty nine hours. So then people lost
- 5:02Speaker 1: their their full time status. They went to part time,
- 5:06Speaker 1: which then caused another problem. You had two options as
- 5:09Speaker 1: an employee at that point. Option one was be under
- 5:13Speaker 1: employed or go find another job to make up the
- 5:16Speaker 1: hours you just lost. Because of an arbitrary rule with
- 5:19Speaker 1: Obamacare that was trying to force employ your small business
- 5:22Speaker 1: owners and others to give out healthcare when they couldn't
- 5:26Speaker 1: afford it, it was impossible to do what they were demanding.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It underemployed millions of Americans. Millions of Americans had then
- 5:34Speaker 1: go find two jobs instead of one. It was a problem.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Fast forward to the debate. Now you pay you a
- 5:45Speaker 1: fifteen dollars hour minium wage. There are some people, no
- 5:47Speaker 1: doubt that will come out of quote poverty, will have
- 5:51Speaker 1: a livable wage. To use a leftist term which they
- 5:55Speaker 1: have turned into, if you show up four hours away,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you deserve to have a livable way, is what they said.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It was all about a livable wage. You must be livable.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Everything has to be about the employee having a nice
- 6:08Speaker 1: life and a livable life. And if you're willing to
- 6:10Speaker 1: show up and put in four hours, you deserve to
- 6:13Speaker 1: live a certain level that the Democrats have decided is
- 6:17Speaker 1: an appropriate level for you to live at. That's what
- 6:19Speaker 1: they've set livable wage. The problem is there's a lot
- 6:24Speaker 1: of employers that if you go to fifteen hours, there's
- 6:26Speaker 1: going to do two things. One they're either going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: shut down their entire business because they can't make money. Two,
- 6:31Speaker 1: they're gonna under employe. They're gonna cut back hours. So
- 6:34Speaker 1: because they're gonna say, okay, look, I'm forced down to
- 6:36Speaker 1: pay you more. So instead of forty hours a week,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you're gonna get thirty five hours a week. Right, You're
- 6:40Speaker 1: gonna do the same job in fewer hours, or we're
- 6:43Speaker 1: gonna change our business hours to the most profitable hours
- 6:47Speaker 1: with the staff and then we're gonna you know, shoe
- 6:48Speaker 1: stringing on these others. You're not gonna win that battle
- 6:51Speaker 1: because the bottom line of businesses and small businesses are
- 6:53Speaker 1: going to end up being the bottom line no matter what.
- 6:55Speaker 1: If I have a bottom line number and you tell
- 6:57Speaker 1: me I've spend a bunch more money employing people air rate,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I'm just going to cut hours immediately until we figure
- 7:03Speaker 1: it out. So now you have Americans that are underemployed.
- 7:07Speaker 1: You also have the third thing that's going to happen,
- 7:09Speaker 1: and that's going to be the issue of automation. Look
- 7:13Speaker 1: at automation. I cannot tell you how many times I
- 7:17Speaker 1: now go to the Groce store and I checked my
- 7:18Speaker 1: own groceries. I swiped them myself. Please put the item
- 7:22Speaker 1: back in the bag. You probably hurt a million times.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I went to Walmart the other day and it was busy.
- 7:29Speaker 1: There was not a single human being that was actually
- 7:33Speaker 1: manually checking anyone out. All of those lines in the
- 7:36Speaker 1: middle of the store were totally empty because no one
- 7:40Speaker 1: was doing that job. These self checkout they had added
- 7:43Speaker 1: to the left side of the store and the right
- 7:44Speaker 1: side of the store. Right that the store side you
- 7:46Speaker 1: go and where the pharmacy is on the other side,
- 7:48Speaker 1: where the food is. That's what they were doing. Those
- 7:51Speaker 1: people lost their job because they're moving to automation. Walmart,
- 7:58Speaker 1: Pizza Hut, Domino's. The list goes on and on McDonald's.
- 8:04Speaker 1: They've figured out that minimum wage increases are coming. They've
- 8:09Speaker 1: seen it happen in different areas around the country. They
- 8:14Speaker 1: have had these mandates in Seattle and New York for
- 8:17Speaker 1: living wages and these really high things, and they just
- 8:20Speaker 1: got ahead of it. They just made the decision right
- 8:24Speaker 1: as a business, We're not gonna wait for it to happen.
- 8:26Speaker 1: We're gonna plan for it to happen. And they've gone
- 8:28Speaker 1: to automation. So it's not just what's happening right now
- 8:33Speaker 1: at Walmart where I walk in and not a single
- 8:35Speaker 1: person is actually checking anyone out right, not a single
- 8:38Speaker 1: person's checking anyone out. It's all self checkouts. And they're
- 8:43Speaker 1: gonna move to that because it can save them money.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And they know that fifteen dollar minium wage is coming,
- 8:47Speaker 1: and they're saying, Okay, we have to figure out how
- 8:49Speaker 1: to keep our bottom line where it is with these
- 8:51Speaker 1: new arbitrary rules. This is where we are, and it's
- 8:53Speaker 1: going to be a huge problem. It's gonna be a
- 8:56Speaker 1: big one, and so let's start it now. Let's do
- 8:58Speaker 1: it now, let's get ahead of it now. It's exactly
- 9:00Speaker 1: what they've done. It's brilliant from a business perspective. Banks
- 9:06Speaker 1: are now starting to do it. Have you noticed how
- 9:09Speaker 1: many banks that used to have the traditional teller where
- 9:11Speaker 1: you would pull up and talk to human being and
- 9:14Speaker 1: stick your check in and shoot it up and over.
- 9:16Speaker 1: That's disappeared. Notice how banks are moving to technology. Please
- 9:20Speaker 1: don't come to the bank, is what they're saying. Please
- 9:22Speaker 1: take a picture of the checks, please send you use
- 9:27Speaker 1: the app, take a picture and we'll deposit the money
- 9:29Speaker 1: over the app. Please don't come into the bank. We
- 9:32Speaker 1: have no one here to service you. I haven't seen
- 9:35Speaker 1: a human being at a bank, and I don't know
- 9:37Speaker 1: how long you atm it. You have online banking, you have,
- 9:43Speaker 1: I've even seen virtual tellers now at some banks. They're
- 9:47Speaker 1: all moving to this process because when the Democrats demand
- 9:52Speaker 1: fifteen dollars hour minum wage, the society is going to
- 9:55Speaker 1: change to make sure that they don't lose a bunch
- 9:58Speaker 1: of money. That's what they're going to do. Businesses are
- 10:01Speaker 1: going to make sure they can still function even while
- 10:04Speaker 1: they've lost a bunch of money. That's what they are
- 10:08Speaker 1: going to do. So Democrats are in a bad situation now,
- 10:13Speaker 1: which brings me these crazy democrats. I'm going to play
- 10:16Speaker 1: some of them for you. Okay, these crazy democrats, and
- 10:21Speaker 1: they are crazy that are demanding this fifteen dollar minum wage.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And they are crazy. Okay, I want to make that
- 10:26Speaker 1: very very clear. They're insane. These crazy democrats have decided
- 10:32Speaker 1: that they are going to pick an arbitrary number to
- 10:35Speaker 1: increase them in wage to regardless of what actually is
- 10:37Speaker 1: going to happen with people being unemployed or under employed.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And then while that is happening, what are they saying, Right,
- 10:45Speaker 1: while that's happening, what are they doing. They're also saying,
- 10:48Speaker 1: we'll just go around government, we don't even have to
- 10:51Speaker 1: pass it, which brings me to Democrat number one. I
- 10:54Speaker 1: want you to take a listen. And they've also now
- 10:56Speaker 1: said this is a human rights issue, right, It's a
- 10:58Speaker 1: human right to make fifteen dollars an hour. Meanwhile, the
- 11:02Speaker 1: Biden administration is not doing nothing to stop genocide happening
- 11:06Speaker 1: in China right now, right, and human rights abuses in China.
- 11:10Speaker 1: None of that's there anymore. None of it's there anymore.
- 11:14Speaker 1: They don't they don't talk about that right there. But America,
- 11:17Speaker 1: if you don't give us what we want, we will
- 11:19Speaker 1: say your race, bigoted, your anti human rights, you're abusing people.
- 11:23Speaker 1: We name call you. Take a listen to this Democratic
- 11:28Speaker 1: congresswoman Japel. However the hell you say your name demanding
- 11:33Speaker 1: minimum wage here it is all waiting with bated breath.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But I will tell you that this reconciliation process was
- 11:42Speaker 1: used to kick tens of millions of people off of
- 11:45Speaker 1: healthcare by the Republicans, and the parliamentarian did allow that
- 11:51Speaker 1: to happen. Now, it was done in a kind of
- 11:54Speaker 1: a wonky way. But when Republicans have used reconciliation to
- 11:59Speaker 1: kick people off of healthcare to pass a two trillion
- 12:02Speaker 1: dollar tax cut where eighty five percent of that tax
- 12:05Speaker 1: cut went to the wealthiest, I think that we feel
- 12:09Speaker 1: good that it should also then be allowed for Democrats
- 12:13Speaker 1: to use reconciliation to pass a minimum wage increase for
- 12:17Speaker 1: twenty seven million workers across this country and lift one
- 12:22Speaker 1: million minimum wage workers out of poverty. So this is
- 12:26Speaker 1: really really important. I did want to make a clarification
- 12:28Speaker 1: though the parliamentarian issues an advisory opinion. Once the parliamentarian
- 12:34Speaker 1: issues that advisory opinion, it is up to the Chair
- 12:37Speaker 1: of the Senate to decide whether or not to incorporate
- 12:40Speaker 1: that opinion. It's a small technicality, but I do think
- 12:45Speaker 1: that we've got to use every tool in our toolbox here,
- 12:48Speaker 1: whether it is reconciliation, whether it is you know, ultimately
- 12:53Speaker 1: reforming the filibuster. We're going to need to deliver on
- 12:58Speaker 1: our promise to raise the wage for twenty seven million Americans.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So in other words, we're gonna do whatever the hell
- 13:06Speaker 1: we want to do. That's just how we're gonna do it, right,
- 13:10Speaker 1: We're gon We're gonna do whatever we want to do,
- 13:12Speaker 1: however we want to do it. It doesn't matter, it
- 13:16Speaker 1: doesn't matter what you guys want to vote on or
- 13:19Speaker 1: don't want to vote on, because we're gonna do it anyway.
- 13:23Speaker 1: We're gonna do it. We're going to do it anyway.
- 13:28Speaker 1: And this isn't the only Democrat now saying this. Take
- 13:31Speaker 1: a listen to this conversation on MSNBC about just going
- 13:35Speaker 1: around Congress mandating a new law, a fifteen dollar minimum
- 13:40Speaker 1: wage that no one will vote on potentially based on
- 13:43Speaker 1: what the Democrats seem to be saying today that people
- 13:47Speaker 1: have disregarded the parliamentarian's ruling. So we should just be
- 13:52Speaker 1: honest with folks if there are political reasons that the
- 13:55Speaker 1: White House doesn't want to disregard with parliamentarian for whatever reason,
- 13:59Speaker 1: and just come out I say that, but no, that
- 14:01Speaker 1: this is the decision that the Lighthouse has. The Vice
- 14:05Speaker 1: President has every power to disregard that decision. I just
- 14:10Speaker 1: want to stipulate for this conversation that Elizabeth McDonough is
- 14:13Speaker 1: one of the great Senate parliamentarians. Uh and and she
- 14:18Speaker 1: didn't ask to be put in this position. Adam Jennalsen,
- 14:22Speaker 1: how did it come to this in the Senate? That
- 14:26Speaker 1: these are the kinds of hurdles that the Senate has
- 14:28Speaker 1: but the House doesn't. Well. Reconciliation is a function of
- 14:33Speaker 1: the of the Budget Act that was passed in the
- 14:36Speaker 1: nineteen seventies and then updated in nineteen eighty five with
- 14:39Speaker 1: the Bird Rule, which is really the issue here. The
- 14:42Speaker 1: Bird Rule is what makes the reconciliation process restrictive and
- 14:46Speaker 1: hard to use to pass things like the minimum wage.
- 14:50Speaker 1: So it's that series of first the law in the
- 14:52Speaker 1: seventies and then to update in the in the eighties.
- 14:55Speaker 1: That has brought us to where we are today. But really,
- 14:58Speaker 1: you know that the that the main factor here is
- 15:01Speaker 1: the filibuster, because if the Senate it was still the
- 15:04Speaker 1: majority rule institution that it was for the first two
- 15:06Speaker 1: hundred years of its existence, you wouldn't be trying to
- 15:09Speaker 1: force big policies like the minimum wage through reconciliation. You
- 15:13Speaker 1: would simply be bringing them to the floor and having
- 15:15Speaker 1: a simple upper down vote and letting it pass or
- 15:17Speaker 1: fail on a majority vote basis. Reconciliation is an attempt
- 15:21Speaker 1: to get around the filibuster and what it has become today,
- 15:24Speaker 1: it's evolution from sort of the talking filibuster of the
- 15:27Speaker 1: Jimmy Stewart, mister Smith goes to Washington days to the
- 15:29Speaker 1: sixty vote threshold that makes it nearly impossible to pass everything.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So that really is sort of the proximate cause and
- 15:36Speaker 1: the need to use reconciliation. Let me just jump back
- 15:40Speaker 1: in here. In other words, what he's what they're saying
- 15:43Speaker 1: is it's a tool to pass whatever the hell we
- 15:46Speaker 1: want to pass without actually having to have anyone vote
- 15:50Speaker 1: on it. We're going to just do what we want
- 15:55Speaker 1: to do because we don't have the vote. Because if
- 15:58Speaker 1: you had the votes, you would do this. And there's
- 16:00Speaker 1: a lot of Democrats that are very concerned about not
- 16:04Speaker 1: having the votes to do this. There's a lot of
- 16:06Speaker 1: Democrats that are very worried that this is going to
- 16:10Speaker 1: hurt people, under employed people, people will lose their jobs.
- 16:13Speaker 1: The Congressional Budget Office is said exactly that the CBO
- 16:18Speaker 1: is unbiased, right, they're nonpartisan, and they have said, if
- 16:23Speaker 1: you do this, Democrats, you are going to have millions
- 16:26Speaker 1: of Americans that will flat out get laid off, and
- 16:29Speaker 1: you will have millions and millions of Americans who will
- 16:33Speaker 1: be underemployed, and you're just going to force them to
- 16:35Speaker 1: find two jobs, which is exactly what the warning was
- 16:38Speaker 1: with Obamacare. When Obamacare had the mandate that if you
- 16:41Speaker 1: had I think it was fifteen employees or more, and
- 16:43Speaker 1: if you had people working more than thirty hours a week,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you had to offer them healthcare. All of them did
- 16:49Speaker 1: the same thing. They put you at twenty nine hours
- 16:51Speaker 1: and say go find another job to make up the
- 16:54Speaker 1: other eleven hours, which made life a lot more difficult.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Think about this, you go to work for forty hours
- 16:59Speaker 1: a week at one place. It's pretty easy. It is.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It's pretty easy. And I'm talking about logistics. I'm not
- 17:04Speaker 1: talking about the job. I'm talking about the logistics of it.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You drive there, or you take a bus there, you
- 17:09Speaker 1: walk there, you ride your bike there, and you stay there.
- 17:12Speaker 1: You gotta get two jobs. Well, then you gotta find
- 17:14Speaker 1: another employee that's linked to employ you in the other
- 17:16Speaker 1: hours that you're not working, which means they're probably gonna
- 17:19Speaker 1: not gonna match up perfectly. You gotta get back in
- 17:22Speaker 1: your car, you gotta get back on your bus, you
- 17:23Speaker 1: gotta walk, you gotta get back on a bi cycle.
- 17:25Speaker 1: You gotta go find another employee that's willing to give
- 17:27Speaker 1: you nine or ten or eleven hours a week. They're
- 17:30Speaker 1: probably not gonna match up perfectly. You're gonna waste at
- 17:32Speaker 1: least an hour probably of your life every day in
- 17:35Speaker 1: the transition alone. And that's exactly what they're gonna do
- 17:40Speaker 1: with this. But they're gonna walk out there and celebrate
- 17:42Speaker 1: this that we care about you, America. We care about
- 17:45Speaker 1: you Americans, even though the data shows this is going
- 17:48Speaker 1: to be a disaster. And seeing them by the way,
- 17:50Speaker 1: it's totally gone crazy manipulating the numbers. John Avalon decided,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'll be the Democrats useful idiot of the day, I guess,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and I'll lie to you and tell you that this
- 18:06Speaker 1: fifteen dollars minimum wage, it's about to go down, not
- 18:10Speaker 1: through people voting on it. Is a great thing for America,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and there's no problems with it. This is one hundred
- 18:16Speaker 1: percent fake news. It's one hundred percent propaganda. It's one
- 18:20Speaker 1: hundred percent inaccurate. And the Congressional Budget Office will agree
- 18:23Speaker 1: with me. They're the ones to look at the real numbers.
- 18:26Speaker 1: They say, millions of Americans and loser jobs, and millions
- 18:28Speaker 1: and millions of Americans will be under employed. Take a
- 18:32Speaker 1: listen to this. So the fate of the minimum wage
- 18:36Speaker 1: could be decided over the next few days. President Biden
- 18:39Speaker 1: wants to raise the federal minimum of fifteen dollars an
- 18:41Speaker 1: hour based in over four years now. That's more than
- 18:44Speaker 1: double what it is today. And this is a very
- 18:47Speaker 1: popular idea. Quarter twenty nineteen Pew survey, two thirds of
- 18:50Speaker 1: Americans supportive. That's forty three percent of Republicans as well
- 18:54Speaker 1: as eighty six percent of Democrats. And during the pandemic,
- 18:57Speaker 1: this has needed more than ever. Income in equalities on
- 19:00Speaker 1: the rise, and most minimum wage workers can't work from home.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Stop you notice how what I'm playing for you right
- 19:07Speaker 1: now that aired on CNN on their morning show is
- 19:10Speaker 1: not news. It's propaganda. You just had a guy presenting
- 19:14Speaker 1: it as news, a propaganda piece advocating for minimum wage
- 19:20Speaker 1: to go up, saying American workers can't survive without it,
- 19:23Speaker 1: says who it's CNN. When did it become fact that
- 19:27Speaker 1: you cannot survive without an minimum wage increase? Because if
- 19:31Speaker 1: that is true, that you can't survive, we'd have fifty million,
- 19:35Speaker 1: seventy million, eighty million people living in poverty. You'd have
- 19:38Speaker 1: a suicide rate through the roof. This idea that that
- 19:41Speaker 1: CNN is giving you real news right now is insane.
- 19:45Speaker 1: The idea that they're telling you the truth right now. No,
- 19:47Speaker 1: this is one propaganda because they just declared on CNN
- 19:51Speaker 1: that no one can survive under the current conditions. Yet
- 19:55Speaker 1: hundreds of millions of people are surviving under the current conditions.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So that's just wrong. But we'll sell it to you anyway,
- 20:03Speaker 1: right because we're the useful idiots at seed end, we're
- 20:06Speaker 1: the useful idiots that sell you propaganda that the left
- 20:09Speaker 1: has told us to sell to you, which is that
- 20:11Speaker 1: we can't survive without going to minimum wage of fifteen
- 20:14Speaker 1: hours an hour, even though millions of Americans are surviving
- 20:20Speaker 1: without it being at fifteen hours an hour. Hit play.
- 20:24Speaker 1: If you don't like policy, I'm sorry, get stupid someplace else,
- 20:27Speaker 1: because this debate could make a real difference in people's lives.
- 20:31Speaker 1: So let's get some facts on the table. The federal
- 20:33Speaker 1: minimum wage is currently seven to twenty five an hour,
- 20:35Speaker 1: hasn't been raised since two thousand and nine. Also, it's
- 20:38Speaker 1: not pegged to inflation, which means that the purchasing power
- 20:41Speaker 1: declines over time. So while a minimum wage worker made
- 20:44Speaker 1: a buck sixty in nineteen sixty nine, that's the equivalent
- 20:47Speaker 1: of around twelve to twenty seven today. So how many
- 20:49Speaker 1: Americans make minimum wage are less? Around one point six million.
- 20:53Speaker 1: That translates to fifteen thousand dollars a year, which, if
- 20:56Speaker 1: you haven't dependent, puts you below the poverty line. But
- 20:59Speaker 1: twenty nine states have minimum wages higher than the federal level,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and the cost of living, of course, varies greatly by region.
- 21:05Speaker 1: The CBO says that raising the minimum wage could have
- 21:08Speaker 1: trade offs, though on the positive side, it would raise
- 21:10Speaker 1: wages by more than three hundred and thirty billion dollars
- 21:13Speaker 1: for seventeen million workers. Nearly one million people would be
- 21:17Speaker 1: lifted out of poverty, and the government would actually spend
- 21:20Speaker 1: less for food assistance. On the downside, the CBO estimates
- 21:23Speaker 1: it could increase unemployment by one point four million and
- 21:26Speaker 1: raise the federal depths at fifty four billion dollars over
- 21:29Speaker 1: a decade that other studies argue would give again right there,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and certainly, notice what he just said there about the
- 21:36Speaker 1: Correctional Budget Office. He just gave you the numbers which
- 21:39Speaker 1: are accurate to the CBO said about certain things that
- 21:41Speaker 1: could have with jobs. He totally admitted the fact that
- 21:45Speaker 1: the CBO said that more Americans will lose their jobs
- 21:48Speaker 1: to be underemployed because of this, then will actually get
- 21:51Speaker 1: out of poverty and have the gains, which is another
- 21:55Speaker 1: reason why this is nothing but propaganda. What you just
- 21:58Speaker 1: heard there from John Avalon is prop bu Ganda. It's
- 22:01Speaker 1: liberal propaganda disguise as hard news. If you're gonna tell
- 22:05Speaker 1: me the facts that X number of people the CBO
- 22:09Speaker 1: office says are going to flourish because of this new bill,
- 22:13Speaker 1: then you shouldn't be afraid to tell me the other
- 22:16Speaker 1: number the CBO warns about, which is how many people
- 22:19Speaker 1: will actually go backwards and things will disintegrate if you
- 22:23Speaker 1: do this, you shouldn't be afraid of giving me both
- 22:27Speaker 1: sides if you're being non biased. But that's not what's
- 22:29Speaker 1: seen is doing here the Biden administration, Harris administration. The
- 22:34Speaker 1: leftists have gone to them and said, we need you
- 22:36Speaker 1: to be our useful idiots. We need you to sell
- 22:38Speaker 1: that there is no downside to the American people of
- 22:41Speaker 1: increasing minimum wage. Let me go back to Obamacare. There
- 22:46Speaker 1: are Republicans screaming from the hilltops that if you didn't
- 22:50Speaker 1: admit the arbitrary rule that if you work thirty one
- 22:56Speaker 1: hours a week, you had to offer them healthcare. Right.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Fifteen words are more in the in the private sector,
- 23:01Speaker 1: small businesses, they we warned them what was going to happen.
- 23:05Speaker 1: People are gonna lose hours, They're then going to be
- 23:08Speaker 1: under employed, They're going to suffer. You're going to force
- 23:12Speaker 1: people into finding two jobs instead of having the one
- 23:15Speaker 1: job that they currently have. That we knew this was
- 23:18Speaker 1: going to happen, and we warned them, and they did
- 23:21Speaker 1: it anyway, and that's exactly what ended up playing out.
- 23:24Speaker 1: It's exactly what ended up happening. And so now Avalon's
- 23:28Speaker 1: on TV over there going well, no, no no, you don't understand.
- 23:30Speaker 1: There's some good news. It is accurate to say that
- 23:32Speaker 1: there are people that will flourish and prosper and have gains.
- 23:37Speaker 1: That is absolutely true. There's there's there's no denying that
- 23:43Speaker 1: if you raise monum wage. But you also have to
- 23:46Speaker 1: do the math on how many people will be hurt.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And that's exactly what CNN fails to tell you about
- 23:51Speaker 1: in this story. Again, listen the very end of this
- 23:54Speaker 1: propagand it's amazing hipway doom saying about past monum wage
- 23:59Speaker 1: hikes did not come to pass. Nonetheless, this is easier
- 24:03Speaker 1: said than done, especially for small businesses. Heck, get this.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Even Bernie Sanders ran into trouble when some of his
- 24:09Speaker 1: campaign workers complained they weren't being paid the minimum wage
- 24:12Speaker 1: he was campaigning on at the time. Sanders argued he
- 24:15Speaker 1: was playing the equivalent of fifteen dollars an hour if
- 24:17Speaker 1: he had in benefits. There's an additional hurdle Senate rules.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Even President Biden doesn't think his minimum wage proposal will
- 24:24Speaker 1: survive as part of his COVID relief bill. This Friday,
- 24:27Speaker 1: the House will vote, then the Senate takes it up,
- 24:29Speaker 1: but they're expected to pass it on party lines through
- 24:31Speaker 1: what's called reconciliation, which is only for budget items. And
- 24:34Speaker 1: there's a real debate about whether this qualifies. In addition,
- 24:37Speaker 1: two Senate Democrats say they won't support it, so does
- 24:40Speaker 1: that mean it's doa not necessarily? Republicans senders meant Romney
- 24:44Speaker 1: and Tom Cotton put forward their own proposal, raising the
- 24:47Speaker 1: minuage to ten dollars but requiring companies verify their employees
- 24:50Speaker 1: are not undocumented, while also creating flexibility for small businesses
- 24:54Speaker 1: with here than twenty workers. I note this is a
- 24:56Speaker 1: lot to digest, but this is a real policy debate,
- 25:00Speaker 1: not one of these fact free food fights we've seen
- 25:02Speaker 1: so much of in recent years. It would affect millions
- 25:04Speaker 1: of people struggling to get by. Now, if that's not
- 25:07Speaker 1: worth taking seriously, nothing is, and there it is, There
- 25:11Speaker 1: it is. If it's not worth taking seriously, then nothing is.
- 25:14Speaker 1: You notice there was not a single moment in that
- 25:17Speaker 1: report he talked about anything negative that could possibly happen,
- 25:21Speaker 1: Because you decide to raise minum wage. They did not
- 25:24Speaker 1: refuse to mention millions of Americans can lose jobs, not
- 25:27Speaker 1: can will lose jobs, that millions and millions more of
- 25:30Speaker 1: Americans will be under employed. And again you listen to
- 25:34Speaker 1: them cheerleading and normalizing passing a law through reconciliation that
- 25:40Speaker 1: is supposed to be for budget with this has nothing
- 25:42Speaker 1: to do with the budget, which means you're changing the
- 25:44Speaker 1: rules and making crap up as you go in an
- 25:47Speaker 1: unpresent way. And they just normalize it because they say, well,
- 25:49Speaker 1: we've got at least try, right, we gotta at least try.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Millions of Americans are relying and depending on us. We
- 25:56Speaker 1: gotta at least try. We have to at least try it.
- 26:00Speaker 1: We've got to at least try this. This is something
- 26:02Speaker 1: we have to at least try. This is something so
- 26:05Speaker 1: important that we just try it. We can't not try it, folks,
- 26:09Speaker 1: We've got to. You know, if if it fails, at
- 26:12Speaker 1: least we tried. That's how that's how you justify making
- 26:17Speaker 1: a terrible decision. They have said that millions of Americans
- 26:21Speaker 1: are suffering living in poverty. We're trying to fix it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: This is how we're going to fix it, and then
- 26:26Speaker 1: Americans aren't surviving right now, and they can't survive right now,
- 26:29Speaker 1: even though millions of Americans are surviving right now and
- 26:31Speaker 1: are flourishing right now, and the sky is not falling,
- 26:34Speaker 1: But we've decided to tell you this guy is falling
- 26:36Speaker 1: so that you'll go along with it, because remember, you're
- 26:39Speaker 1: a terrible human being if you do not believe in
- 26:43Speaker 1: paying people a quote living wage. If there's anything brilliant
- 26:49Speaker 1: that the Democrats have done, it is that it is
- 26:55Speaker 1: brilliant what the Democrats have done here. They have put
- 26:58Speaker 1: people in a no when such that you're anti worker,
- 27:01Speaker 1: anti American success, anti helping business, you know, families, if
- 27:05Speaker 1: you are against it now our minum wage, they don't
- 27:08Speaker 1: give a crap. By the way, all the data shows
- 27:10Speaker 1: that people will lose their jobs. And the small businesses
- 27:12Speaker 1: can't afford this right now, especially in the time of COVID.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Right now, who can afford to give out big increases
- 27:19Speaker 1: in wages right now in America? I don't know a
- 27:21Speaker 1: single small business owner right now that says I'd love
- 27:23Speaker 1: to pay workers more or I can afford it. Because
- 27:26Speaker 1: of cod COVID has sucked the life out of small
- 27:29Speaker 1: businesses in this country, and now you want to stick
- 27:31Speaker 1: them with a mandated wage increase for their workers. Millions
- 27:36Speaker 1: of Americans will be hurt because of this, and they
- 27:39Speaker 1: know it, and they're lying to you, and I'll leave
- 27:43Speaker 1: it at that.
