Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest.
- 0:03Speaker 2: When they analyzed the most influential and definitive album covers
- 0:06Speaker 2: of this era. One of the first that we'll get
- 0:08Speaker 2: mentioned is Charlie XCX's stark, monotone colored Brat. The entire
- 0:12Speaker 2: design is literally just pea soup green and the word
- 0:15Speaker 2: Bratt spelled out in lowercase font very unceremoniously. It looks
- 0:18Speaker 2: like it was made in Microsoft paint in about three minutes.
- 0:21Speaker 2: But that simple image and the music contained inside spawned
- 0:23Speaker 2: an entire movement. It's called Brat's Summer, and that green
- 0:27Speaker 2: color was also everywhere, which makes it all seem like
- 0:29Speaker 2: a brilliant marketing strategy now. But Charlie admits she was
- 0:31Speaker 2: just trying to save some coin, telling Zane Low, I
- 0:33Speaker 2: was literally thinking this album is not going to appeal
- 0:35Speaker 2: to a lot of people. I thought maybe I'd do
- 0:37Speaker 2: a press shoot and also save some money on the
- 0:38Speaker 2: album cover. And everyone was like, that's the stupidest idea ever.
- 0:41Speaker 2: But Charlie followed through and the rest, as you know,
- 0:43Speaker 2: is history. Her new version of it Bratt, and it's
- 0:46Speaker 2: completely different, but also still Bratt is out now.
- 0:50Speaker 1: That's Direct from Hollywood
