- 0:00I'm thinking of a very small, short, very significant
- 0:03verse in the book of Colossians chapter 1. I've
- 0:07done quite a bit through Colossians 1 a couple
- 0:09years back, but I've got a different thought
- 0:11about this verse today. Colossians 1 .17 says
- 0:15as follows. It says, He is, that's talking about
- 0:18Jesus Christ, right, God. He is before all things,
- 0:23and in Him all things hold together. And, of
- 0:28course, the basic meaning of this verse, without
- 0:30getting into it, is that God is keeping it all
- 0:32going. And if it were not for Jesus, if it were
- 0:34not for the sacrifice of Jesus, then it would
- 0:36have all ended a long time ago. We could just
- 0:38basically say that. There's probably a lot more
- 0:40to that concept. But what I'm thinking today
- 0:41is about how he makes it all work, about how
- 0:46Jesus takes our suffering and turns it into strength,
- 0:48about how Jesus takes our weakness, the worst
- 0:51things we can do, and in him God shows up and
- 0:53provides mighty strength to do the things. So
- 0:56maybe you're really struggling today. Maybe you're
- 0:58really in difficulty today, or maybe your schedule
- 1:00is just so pinched, or your finances are just
- 1:03struggling. Just realize that it is Jesus that
- 1:06keeps it all together. It's Jesus that makes
- 1:09it all work. So if you're striving, struggling,
- 1:12pushing hard, scheduling, trying to make it all
- 1:15balance and all work, then maybe that's not the
- 1:19way it's going to get done. Maybe that in your
- 1:21greatest effort, you can't do it. Because it
- 1:23is Jesus that keeps it all together. He holds
- 1:26it together. He knits it together. And so I would
- 1:29encourage you today to ask the Lord, are your
- 1:31priorities in the right place? Is Jesus getting
- 1:34all the glory? Can I trust him with my daily
- 1:36schedule? Have I decided to do things that do
- 1:39not honor him? And if so, can I repent and turn
- 1:41to him and he'll take care of it? His word says
- 1:43he holds it all together.
