  I'm thinking of a very small, short, very significant

  verse in the book of Colossians chapter 1. I've

  done quite a bit through Colossians 1 a couple

  years back, but I've got a different thought

  about this verse today. Colossians 1 .17 says
• 0:15
  as follows. It says, He is, that's talking about
• 0:18
  Jesus Christ, right, God. He is before all things,
• 0:23
  and in Him all things hold together. And, of
• 0:28
  course, the basic meaning of this verse, without
• 0:30
  getting into it, is that God is keeping it all
• 0:32
  going. And if it were not for Jesus, if it were
• 0:34
  not for the sacrifice of Jesus, then it would
• 0:36
  have all ended a long time ago. We could just
• 0:38
  basically say that. There's probably a lot more
• 0:40
  to that concept. But what I'm thinking today
• 0:41
  is about how he makes it all work, about how
• 0:46
  Jesus takes our suffering and turns it into strength,
• 0:48
  about how Jesus takes our weakness, the worst
• 0:51
  things we can do, and in him God shows up and
• 0:53
  provides mighty strength to do the things. So
• 0:56
  maybe you're really struggling today. Maybe you're
• 0:58
  really in difficulty today, or maybe your schedule
• 1:00
  is just so pinched, or your finances are just
• 1:03
  struggling. Just realize that it is Jesus that
• 1:06
  keeps it all together. It's Jesus that makes
• 1:09
  it all work. So if you're striving, struggling,
• 1:12
  pushing hard, scheduling, trying to make it all
• 1:15
  balance and all work, then maybe that's not the
• 1:19
  way it's going to get done. Maybe that in your
• 1:21
  greatest effort, you can't do it. Because it
• 1:23
  is Jesus that keeps it all together. He holds
• 1:26
  it together. He knits it together. And so I would
• 1:29
  encourage you today to ask the Lord, are your
• 1:31
  priorities in the right place? Is Jesus getting
• 1:34
  all the glory? Can I trust him with my daily
• 1:36
  schedule? Have I decided to do things that do
• 1:39
  not honor him? And if so, can I repent and turn
• 1:41
  to him and he'll take care of it? His word says
• 1:43
  he holds it all together.
