- 0:16Speaker 1: bu bus things. Y'all good to mother, don't join joint.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Turn you you gotta turn turn turn, you got to
- 1:44Speaker 1: turn them out to turn the water the water. Come
- 1:58Speaker 1: come on your back. Uh huh, I shore will come
- 2:03Speaker 1: on to everybody you're listening to the voice, Come on
- 2:08Speaker 1: dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey got a
- 2:12Speaker 1: radio still. Steve Harvey got a radio show. Sometimes when
- 2:18Speaker 1: I chuckle like that reminds me of my oldest brother
- 2:21Speaker 1: to pass or where he used to laugh like that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It's kind of funny how jeans get passed down through
- 2:25Speaker 1: the line. I don't know why I told y'all that
- 2:27Speaker 1: just son't to share with you, that's all. As always,
- 2:31Speaker 1: always kind of ask God to help me, you know,
- 2:34Speaker 1: um and and and and I had I had gotten
- 2:37Speaker 1: off track a little bit because one of the principles
- 2:42Speaker 1: of success I want to share with you all today
- 2:45Speaker 1: is a law of attraction that is a very very
- 2:48Speaker 1: serious principle. It cannot be ignored, the law of attraction.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And I'm not going to be able to explain it
- 2:58Speaker 1: to you as well as the book Secrets can or
- 3:01Speaker 1: as well as some people. I can only articulate it
- 3:04Speaker 1: to you the way that I see it. The law
- 3:09Speaker 1: of attraction is very, very real. The law of attraction
- 3:13Speaker 1: is a principle of success. It is something that everyone
- 3:18Speaker 1: has to adhere to. Now, whether you know the law
- 3:21Speaker 1: of attraction or not, it does not make it not
- 3:25Speaker 1: exist for you. This is the case where ignorance is
- 3:31Speaker 1: not the excuse the fact that no one told it
- 3:35Speaker 1: to you. There is no pass for this one. The
- 3:39Speaker 1: fact that you never heard it before. It does not
- 3:43Speaker 1: allow you to do it any other way. So let
- 3:46Speaker 1: me see if I can put it to you best
- 3:49Speaker 1: I can. The law of attraction, the law of attraction,
- 3:53Speaker 1: to put it real simple, is the thing that you
- 3:57Speaker 1: focus on, the thing that you talk about, the thing
- 4:02Speaker 1: that you think of, is the thing that you draw
- 4:05Speaker 1: to you. It's what you attract to you. That's basically
- 4:09Speaker 1: the law of attraction. The thing that you talk about,
- 4:13Speaker 1: the thing that you think about, the thing that you
- 4:17Speaker 1: focus on, whatever it is that is what you attract.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The law of attraction does not differentiate from positive and negative.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It only does what it does. What I am saying
- 4:36Speaker 1: is this in the law of attraction. No matter what
- 4:41Speaker 1: you think of, no matter what occupies your time, no
- 4:46Speaker 1: matter what you say, or no matter what the focus is,
- 4:50Speaker 1: positive or negative, the law of attraction knows neither one.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It just attracts it. So let's use some examples here.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I can just best example always uses me. That way.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I ain't got to figure out nothing. I can just
- 5:05Speaker 1: tell you my side of it. I was in a
- 5:08Speaker 1: lot of debt one time in my life. This is
- 5:12Speaker 1: before any of you knew me, so you can understand.
- 5:16Speaker 1: In case you're not think I don't. I don't want
- 5:20Speaker 1: you to think that this conversation is about your income level,
- 5:23Speaker 1: cause it's not. It doesn't matter what the income level
- 5:26Speaker 1: you are. The law of attraction works in all aspects money, family, relationships, job, career, love.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It just works that way. Okay, here's the deal. I
- 5:37Speaker 1: kept saying, man, this debt is killing me. I got
- 5:41Speaker 1: to get out. That's what I thought was a good goal,
- 5:46Speaker 1: to get out of debt. But what I kept saying was,
- 5:50Speaker 1: you know, I kept talking about debt, and you know
- 5:53Speaker 1: what it kept doing. It kept attracting debt to me.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So guess what I could get out? That's all is
- 6:03Speaker 1: that crazy? That is an amazing law to understand. What
- 6:08Speaker 1: turned it around for me was I started claiming a
- 6:13Speaker 1: life of abundance. God, I am seeking a life of abundance.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I want to have more than enough. I want to
- 6:24Speaker 1: be able to help other people. I just want to
- 6:27Speaker 1: have a law of attraction so that I be able
- 6:30Speaker 1: to provide my family the lifestyle that I want to
- 6:32Speaker 1: provide them. I want heavily, father, to be able to
- 6:36Speaker 1: be an example of your goodness and your grace in
- 6:40Speaker 1: my life. That is what I started saying. And guess what,
- 6:45Speaker 1: that's what I started attractive. I'm going to have a
- 6:49Speaker 1: great relationship with my children. I'm going to be the
- 6:52Speaker 1: father that I always wanted to be. I'm going to
- 6:56Speaker 1: be a good father. I'm going to be a good husband,
- 7:00Speaker 1: and now I am going to do the right things.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I Am going to be the type of example that
- 7:06Speaker 1: my sons can look no further than go. I can
- 7:09Speaker 1: be like my dad. I want to be able to
- 7:11Speaker 1: be a place, a beacon of light and hope for
- 7:14Speaker 1: my daughters to come to. That's what I started saying.
- 7:17Speaker 1: That's what I started attracting to my life. The law
- 7:22Speaker 1: of attraction does not care if you want it to
- 7:26Speaker 1: be positive or negative. The law of attraction just attracts
- 7:32Speaker 1: whatever it is you focus on, what you think about,
- 7:36Speaker 1: the words that come out your mouth. You cannot overlook
- 7:40Speaker 1: this principle of success and expect to make it because
- 7:44Speaker 1: of the fact that you've never heard of the law
- 7:46Speaker 1: of attraction, because of the fact that you don't know
- 7:49Speaker 1: how it really operates. It does not make it not
- 7:53Speaker 1: exist in your day. You can start today attracting the
- 7:59Speaker 1: right things to your life by changing what you say,
- 8:05Speaker 1: what you think, what you focus on. Change the focus,
- 8:12Speaker 1: change the thought, change the words that come out your mouth,
- 8:17Speaker 1: and guess what you change what you attract to yourself.
- 8:22Speaker 1: You have got to ask yourself, why is it? Man? Man,
- 8:26Speaker 1: let me tell you something. Somebody said the Bishop Jake's
- 8:28Speaker 1: one time. They said, man, everything you touch turns to gold.
- 8:33Speaker 1: He said, no, I just don't touch everything. Man, This
- 8:39Speaker 1: is crazy. Come on, man, he has a focus. He
- 8:44Speaker 1: has a focus. See, he ain't just everywhere. Bring me
- 8:48Speaker 1: any idea, let me try that. No, no, no, man,
- 8:51Speaker 1: he has a focus. He has a law of attraction
- 8:55Speaker 1: that's working. Where he's attracting things to his life that
- 8:59Speaker 1: that's positive. That he can't ask not to say, Bishop James,
- 9:03Speaker 1: don't have problems because we talk often and man, he
- 9:06Speaker 1: have them. Oh, please understand. And he not trying to
- 9:09Speaker 1: attract the problems. But what he will attract is the
- 9:13Speaker 1: proper solution for the problem. And ain't that all you need? Sometimes?
- 9:18Speaker 1: God did not say that it would be easy. He
- 9:22Speaker 1: just said he would be with you. And if God
- 9:25Speaker 1: is with you, who can be against you? God will
- 9:28Speaker 1: make your enemies your footstool. God is powerful man, His
- 9:32Speaker 1: word is true. He do what he say he gonna do. Now,
- 9:35Speaker 1: all we got to do is do some of what
- 9:38Speaker 1: we say. We ain't gonna do everything, just do some
- 9:40Speaker 1: of what we say. Okay, here's a deal. God is
- 9:43Speaker 1: going to do everything he say he gonna to you,
- 9:47Speaker 1: and I just got to do some of the stuff
- 9:49Speaker 1: we say we're gonna do because he already know we
- 9:51Speaker 1: ain't gonna do all of it. Yeah, he clear on that,
- 9:53Speaker 1: He clear on that. All right, thank you, you're listening,
- 10:02Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen. Here we are again. Welcome, welcome, welcome,
- 10:06Speaker 1: welcome one at all. There's a Steve Holiday morning. Shall
- 10:12Speaker 1: I have I changed my voice in the middle of it?
- 10:16Speaker 1: I didn't stop this way, but I decided to be
- 10:19Speaker 1: this way. Is the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Y'all turn
- 10:24Speaker 1: your radio up and call your mom and them tell
- 10:26Speaker 1: them it's about to go down. Yeah, I switched. I

- 19:39Speaker 1: you know, well, yeah, um Joe sided did say that
- 19:43Speaker 1: she killed her husband and fed him to the tigers.

- 25:44Speaker 1: I know my wife is gonna leave me if I
- 25:47Speaker 1: don't quit doing this. Here's this story of a lovely lady,

- 27:05Speaker 1: but this has gone on too far. This is Tommy.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Tommie gave me your number to Steve. You know Steve,
- 27:12Speaker 1: don't you now? Look I want to help you, but
- 27:16Speaker 1: you are not allowing me to do so. So who
- 27:18Speaker 1: is Tommy? Who is Stephen? And how did you get
- 27:21Speaker 1: my number? Is on the radio? Don't know what's Stephen
- 27:25Speaker 1: on the Steven on the radio as in see on

- 29:34Speaker 1: the chief of Public Information at the Census Bureau. Today
- 29:39Speaker 1: we're gonna make sure our community is counted. That's what
- 29:42Speaker 1: today is all about. Okay, people with sense? Right? Yeah?
- 29:47Speaker 1: So why are you talking talking? Why are you talking
- 29:51Speaker 1: right now? Do you have to destroy every serious moment
- 29:55Speaker 1: on this show? Did I destroy it? What is it?
- 29:58Speaker 1: Is it your goal to just exhibit just how stupid
- 30:05Speaker 1: a person can be? Yes, that is my and and
- 30:12Speaker 1: completely unapologetic. You mean apologize for asking its census about
- 30:18Speaker 1: people who need to have some sense. Now obviously it's
- 30:22Speaker 1: not because you got into conversation. Okay, all right, I'm
- 30:27Speaker 1: gonna be quiet. I don't let the census people do
- 30:29Speaker 1: the census. I want you to be counted. Yeah, all right,
- 30:34Speaker 1: Time for some entertainment. Now, if your children count you
- 30:40Speaker 1: the way around, damn school, they've got the good education.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Now let's let's let's sitney them do thee at all.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Let's talk about The Tiger King, Netflix's latest documentary. We've
- 30:58Speaker 1: all seen it with the exception of you think nephew, Yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you gotta check it out. It exposes a world of
- 31:04Speaker 1: some of the biggest exotic wild animal collectors in the US,
- 31:08Speaker 1: and it tells the story of a rivalry between Joe Exotic,
- 31:12Speaker 1: who's the star of the show, and Carol Baskin Apparently,
- 31:15Speaker 1: Carol wasn't happy about how she was depicted in the show.
- 31:18Speaker 1: She's the owner of Big Cat Rescue. She slammed the
- 31:22Speaker 1: production and called it salacious and sensational. She claims that
- 31:26Speaker 1: the documentary was pitched to her as a big cast
- 31:29Speaker 1: version of Blackfish, the documentary that exposed abuse at Sea World,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but according to co producer Eric Good, Carol talked about
- 31:37Speaker 1: her personal life, her childhood abuse from her first husband
- 31:40Speaker 1: and her second husband, the disappearance of her ex Don Lewis.
- 31:44Speaker 1: She knew that this was not just about a blackfish,
- 31:48Speaker 1: because all of that is like blackfish. Yeah, all of
- 31:53Speaker 1: that abuse, that's what they do to the Wales. Her
- 31:57Speaker 1: husband's coming up missing, that's what happened when you take
- 31:59Speaker 1: all out of while somebody husband, somebody dad had gone.
- 32:03Speaker 1: The whole thing was like Blackfish. I enjoyed it. I
- 32:06Speaker 1: thought it was thirdly entertainment and like I said, what
- 32:10Speaker 1: you you have to watch it. It's because listen to me,
- 32:16Speaker 1: thank something is wrong with you. After you watching, you're
- 32:22Speaker 1: gonna be all right, right, good, you gonna be right
- 32:28Speaker 1: because I don't care how your life going. By the
- 32:33Speaker 1: end of the third episode, you can go well, he said,
- 32:36Speaker 1: ain't that. Yeah, you see these two dudes, these three
- 32:43Speaker 1: dudes that got married to each other. When you see
- 32:48Speaker 1: this set up, it's gonna throw you a little bit
- 32:51Speaker 1: because none of them mut mm and kitchen man, That's
- 33:01Speaker 1: exactly what he's saying. Man, I was just struggling with
- 33:06Speaker 1: this whole thing. Man. Meanwhile, Joe Exotic, the star of
- 33:11Speaker 1: the show, is thrilled that he's famous. He Shannon, Yes,
- 33:16Speaker 1: he heard him. He wants this fame. He loves the
- 33:22Speaker 1: fact because that's what they said on the show. He
- 33:24Speaker 1: always wanted to be famous. All right, Steve, time now
- 33:26Speaker 1: to get caught up on today's news headline, Ladies and gentlemen,
- 33:29Speaker 1: miss Anne trip, Thank you everybody. This is a trip
- 33:32Speaker 1: with the news. Let me give it to you. President
- 33:34Speaker 1: Trump says he is extending his social distancing guidelines for
- 33:38Speaker 1: the next thirty days now to stem the flow of
- 33:40Speaker 1: the coronavirus. Finally kind of coming in line with what
- 33:43Speaker 1: the doctors and health officials have been trying to tell him.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Trump's no touch, no closeness extension comes as a US
- 33:49Speaker 1: death toll now stands at over thirty seven hundred people.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Thirty seven hundred people have died, more than one hundred
- 33:55Speaker 1: and eighty one thousand people have positive infections or Tornado,
- 33:59Speaker 1: by the way, touch down to Alabama yesterday, ripping up
- 34:01Speaker 1: about fifteen homes and scattered damage. They thought it might
- 34:04Speaker 1: be worse because so many people are home and not
- 34:06Speaker 1: at work, but they said not a lot of damage
- 34:09Speaker 1: was done. Health officials meanwhile saying that New York could
- 34:12Speaker 1: be facing its highest number of coronavirus cases thus far,
- 34:15Speaker 1: in between the next seven to twenty one day so now.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Governor Cuomo says he's tired or always having to pay
- 34:21Speaker 1: a game of catchup as he tries to battle the virus.
- 34:23Speaker 1: He's asking for more federal help. Now help, he says,
- 34:26Speaker 1: he's going to need to have it ready. We are
- 34:28Speaker 1: planning now for the battle at the top of the mountain.
- 34:32Speaker 1: That's what we are doing. Get a staffing plan ready now,
- 34:36Speaker 1: equipment stockpiled now. We're gathering equipment that we don't need
- 34:40Speaker 1: today because today is not the day of the battle.
- 34:44Speaker 1: And Cuomo shared some personal information yesterday that demonstrates his point.
- 34:48Speaker 1: His brother, seeing an anchor, Chris Cuomo, now has tested
- 34:51Speaker 1: positive for the virus. Everyone is subject to this virus.
- 34:56Speaker 1: It is the great equalizer. I don't care how smart,
- 35:00Speaker 1: how rich, how powerful you think you are, how young,
- 35:04Speaker 1: how old. This virus is the great equalizers. Cuomo says
- 35:07Speaker 1: he's confident, though, that his brother will recover. Chris Cuomo
- 35:10Speaker 1: says that Americans can defeat COVID nineteen by being smart, tough,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and united. Louisiana's Governor John Bell Edwards says he's extending
- 35:18Speaker 1: his stay at home order through the end of April
- 35:21Speaker 1: because his state's coronavirus infection rate shows no signs of
- 35:24Speaker 1: slowing at all. Governor Edwards says that they are now
- 35:27Speaker 1: more than five thousand, nineteen cases in Louisiana. At least
- 35:31Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty nine people have died. Numbers like
- 35:34Speaker 1: we're reporting today keep us on the very steep trajectory
- 35:39Speaker 1: in terms of our case growth, and we know that
- 35:42Speaker 1: that puts us firmly on the path to exceeding our
- 35:45Speaker 1: capacity to deliver healthcare. In fact, Governor Edwards says his
- 35:49Speaker 1: state faces a shortage of, for instance, ventilators by this
- 35:51Speaker 1: week end. The Detroit Auto Show has been canceled, that
- 35:55Speaker 1: venue turned into a giant makeshift hospital there. Meanwhile, how
- 35:58Speaker 1: Speaker Nancy Pelosis. As legislators have begun getting proposals together
- 36:03Speaker 1: for the next coronavirus relief bill. And very appropriately, that's
- 36:07Speaker 1: right the top of the Empire State Building in New
- 36:09Speaker 1: York lit up in red lights represent an honor emergency
- 36:13Speaker 1: lights used on vehicles of cops, firefighters, and other responders.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Very appropriate. Now, black to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 36:19Speaker 1: You're listening. Today is a National Census day, and we've
- 36:26Speaker 1: talked about how important it is, especially for our community
- 36:30Speaker 1: to be counted in the twenty twenty census. So we
- 36:33Speaker 1: have somebody here today that's gonna give you a lot
- 36:36Speaker 1: more insight on why the census is so important. We've
- 36:40Speaker 1: invited the Chief of Public Information Office at the United
- 36:43Speaker 1: States Census Bill to join us. He's got a lot
- 36:46Speaker 1: of great information to share with us about this year's census,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and we had him on the show ten years ago
- 36:52Speaker 1: to be exact. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back to
- 36:56Speaker 1: the show. Mister Michael Cook. Welcome, well, thank you, thank you. Sorry,
- 37:02Speaker 1: hey man, how you doing. I'm doing well. It couldn't
- 37:04Speaker 1: be better. You know, it's a census day. It says
- 37:07Speaker 1: time to celebrate, time to reference the fact that the
- 37:12Speaker 1: once every ten year account is here. We just want
- 37:15Speaker 1: people to know why it's important and what all the
- 37:18Speaker 1: benefits are from responding to the census, so that they
- 37:20Speaker 1: are not missed. Well, here's this is important because I
- 37:24Speaker 1: want everybody in our listeners to the audience to understand
- 37:27Speaker 1: how important taking the census is. It's important because for
- 37:30Speaker 1: the first time ever, we have an option to respond
- 37:35Speaker 1: online or by phone. So tell us more about Census Day.
- 37:39Speaker 1: This day Census Day, it's the reference day for the
- 37:43Speaker 1: twenty twenty Census. We use this day to determine who
- 37:46Speaker 1: should be counted and where you should be counted in
- 37:49Speaker 1: the twenty twenty census. So we're asking everyone to go
- 37:52Speaker 1: to twenty twenty Census dot gov and to respond. We
- 37:55Speaker 1: have sent invitation mailers in the mail across the country
- 37:59Speaker 1: to invite people to log on to fill it out
- 38:01Speaker 1: the form online. They can also call or they can
- 38:04Speaker 1: mailt a questionnaire back if they prefer not to go
- 38:07Speaker 1: online to fill it out. So on this day and
- 38:10Speaker 1: any day going forward until you can finish in respond
- 38:13Speaker 1: to the twenty twenty Census, you should think about your
- 38:16Speaker 1: household on April first and fill out the questionnaire representing
- 38:21Speaker 1: everybody who's in the house, So it's not just the
- 38:24Speaker 1: people that are related to you, but everybody that resides there.
- 38:27Speaker 1: So if you have a cousin and uncle, someone that's
- 38:30Speaker 1: a roommate, they should be counted on the form. And
- 38:33Speaker 1: please please count count the young children because they are
- 38:36Speaker 1: historically undercounted on the census. How long do they have
- 38:41Speaker 1: to respond to this survey? From now until August fourteenth
- 38:46Speaker 1: they can respond. As of right now, more than fifty
- 38:49Speaker 1: million households have responded to the twenty twenty census, so
- 38:53Speaker 1: thirty four point seven percent of the households across the
- 38:57Speaker 1: nation have stood up, have been counted, they have responded,
- 39:01Speaker 1: and we need everyone to respond. Given the current situation
- 39:04Speaker 1: with COVID nineteen, we are practicing social distance just like
- 39:08Speaker 1: everyone else. And so if you respond online, if you
- 39:11Speaker 1: respond by phone, or if you mail back your questionnaire,
- 39:14Speaker 1: you can do all of that without having to come
- 39:17Speaker 1: in contact with a census taker. Census dot gov. Everybody
- 39:22Speaker 1: go online and fill it out. We are going to
- 39:24Speaker 1: be more counted than ever before. And we'll be right
- 39:28Speaker 1: back and we're gonna talk about why right after this
- 39:30Speaker 1: You're listening to all right, we're back everybody. We have
- 39:36Speaker 1: our special guests today from the Public Information Office at
- 39:39Speaker 1: the United States Census Bureau. His name is mister Michael Cook.
- 39:43Speaker 1: He's back with us again and we're talking about it
- 39:46Speaker 1: because today a census day, and for the first time,
- 39:49Speaker 1: we have an option to respond online or by phone. Now,
- 39:53Speaker 1: all you got to do right now while we're sitting
- 39:55Speaker 1: at home doing nothing, and call everybody to get them
- 39:58Speaker 1: to complete the form because I'm gonna tell you why
- 40:00Speaker 1: it's so important in just a second. But go to
- 40:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty Census dot gov, twenty twenty Census dot gov.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Just two zero two zero twenty twenty Census dot gov
- 40:15Speaker 1: and apply and fill it out today. Now, Michael Cook,
- 40:20Speaker 1: let me ask you this man, why is it important,
- 40:23Speaker 1: especially in our communities to fill out this census form.
- 40:27Speaker 1: It's important for two reasons. It actually comes down to
- 40:31Speaker 1: power and it comes down to money. It's important to
- 40:34Speaker 1: your community, and your response matters because getting an accurate
- 40:37Speaker 1: count result in representation in the House of Representatives, and
- 40:42Speaker 1: it informs how legislative districts and boundaries are then drawn.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Voting districts are drawn, school districts are drawn. So it's
- 40:49Speaker 1: about representation, it's about power, But there are intrinsic benefits
- 40:54Speaker 1: that stick to your community for the next ten years.
- 40:58Speaker 1: By an accurate and complete count. There are hundreds of
- 41:01Speaker 1: billions of dollars in federal, state, and local funds that
- 41:05Speaker 1: are spent in our communities each year, including funding for
- 41:09Speaker 1: local hospitals, emergency services, where they put bus routes, where
- 41:15Speaker 1: businesses are developed. So all of the decisions that come
- 41:20Speaker 1: down to the local level that benefit your lack and
- 41:22Speaker 1: impact your life are based on an accurate and complete count.
- 41:26Speaker 1: So if you are missed, your community misses out on
- 41:29Speaker 1: those benefits billions of dollars spent at the local level
- 41:33Speaker 1: every year for the next ten years. Yeah. See, folks,
- 41:36Speaker 1: I want you to understand how important that is far us.
- 41:39Speaker 1: When we complain about the lack of facilities, the lack
- 41:43Speaker 1: of resources, the lack of hospitals, schools, the moneys that's
- 41:50Speaker 1: put into the schools, the roads, the bussing systems, whether
- 41:55Speaker 1: businesses would even bother to come here, Why there are
- 41:59Speaker 1: no jobs, jobs, grocery stores, stuff like this. They can
- 42:04Speaker 1: always use the fact that, well, there's only x amount
- 42:07Speaker 1: of people here and based on the percentage of people.
- 42:10Speaker 1: We only should give x amount of funds for that. Hilaria. Well,
- 42:15Speaker 1: now we've heard ourselves. The census buier is not isis.
- 42:19Speaker 1: They are not coming to pick you up and take
- 42:21Speaker 1: you away. They have to count all the people in
- 42:24Speaker 1: the house for districting, for power, for voting, for school districts,
- 42:29Speaker 1: for where first responders, how many we get there? What
- 42:34Speaker 1: fire stations, how many ambulance services? All of this, man,
- 42:38Speaker 1: this is they miss lacking and hurting in our neighbors.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Mister Cook, when you're doing this time, you do me
- 42:43Speaker 1: a favor. Feel my cousin Ryanny Cooper. This ain't got
- 42:46Speaker 1: nothing to do with his court. They are his child support.
- 42:48Speaker 1: He tell him that so he can feel this paper
- 42:51Speaker 1: where I got Plea Rodney. The information that we collect
- 42:55Speaker 1: is covered by Title thirteen. Title thirteen protects that data
- 43:00Speaker 1: of that information from life. I will go to jail,
- 43:03Speaker 1: I will get fined. I take a lifetime oath in
- 43:06Speaker 1: anybody at the Census Bureau that looks at your personal

- 54:05Speaker 1: It's the Strawberry Letter. All right, thank you, nephew. My
- 54:09Speaker 1: husband belongs to the streets. It says Dear Stephen Shirley.
- 54:14Speaker 1: I am a married woman in my mid forties and
- 54:17Speaker 1: my husband is too. We've been together a total of
- 54:20Speaker 1: five years, and we've been married three years. Early on,
- 54:24Speaker 1: he explained that he had some medical issues that sometimes
- 54:27Speaker 1: kept him from having sex. When we got married, we
- 54:31Speaker 1: had only had sex once, but he had found other
- 54:36Speaker 1: ways to please me, so I was happy and our
- 54:39Speaker 1: marriage was great. I hoped and prayed that he could
- 54:42Speaker 1: get his libido back and we could have sex, have sex,
- 54:46Speaker 1: you know, like a real married couple. My husband, my
- 54:49Speaker 1: hopes and prayers were shattered recently and I found out
- 54:53Speaker 1: he had been lying to me for five years. I
- 54:56Speaker 1: got a call from a woman saying she has been
- 54:58Speaker 1: seeing my husband for for a year, and she found
- 55:01Speaker 1: out that he has a wife. I was curious to
- 55:04Speaker 1: know if they had been having sex, and she told
- 55:06Speaker 1: me that my husband is a beast in the bedroom
- 55:10Speaker 1: and that he is the main thing. That's the main
- 55:13Speaker 1: thing that God are so hooked on him. She told
- 55:16Speaker 1: me that he is several girls that he messes around with,
- 55:19Speaker 1: and he tells everyone he is single. After the call't
- 55:23Speaker 1: I decided not to say anything until I could prove
- 55:27Speaker 1: it to myself. I started noticing that he keeps his
- 55:30Speaker 1: phone close to him all the time, and he works
- 55:33Speaker 1: late a lot, and he's been hanging out with his
- 55:36Speaker 1: boys on the weekend. More. These were things that never
- 55:39Speaker 1: stood out before. I even drove past a woman's house
- 55:42Speaker 1: one night and saw his car there, but I still
- 55:45Speaker 1: haven't confronted him. He didn't want me sexually, but he
- 55:49Speaker 1: wanted to marry me and share his life with me.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Please help me make sense of this. I love him
- 55:55Speaker 1: and I don't want to end my marriage, but this
- 55:57Speaker 1: is a major blow to my self esteem. What's wrong
- 56:00Speaker 1: with me? How should I handle this? Wow? First of all,
- 56:05Speaker 1: you know what, don't blame yourself. Do not do that.
- 56:09Speaker 1: I mean, we as women seem to always blame ourselves
- 56:13Speaker 1: when things go wrong in our marriage. And that's not
- 56:15Speaker 1: to say that, you know, sometimes we don't have something
- 56:20Speaker 1: to contribute to the fact that our marriage may be
- 56:22Speaker 1: going wrong or it may be ending. But don't be
- 56:25Speaker 1: so quick to blame yourself. Okay, there are two people
- 56:28Speaker 1: in this marriage, clearly, and this is an awful situation
- 56:32Speaker 1: you're in. You said you've known him for five years,
- 56:35Speaker 1: you've been married for three. Early on in the marriage,
- 56:38Speaker 1: he told you that he had medical issues and that
- 56:42Speaker 1: you know, he may not be able to perform. Did
- 56:46Speaker 1: you question him at any point? You know, if anything,
- 56:52Speaker 1: you know, perhaps you could be blamed. I don't want
- 56:56Speaker 1: to use that term because it's so harsh, but because
- 56:59Speaker 1: you didn't really question him, I mean, what did he
- 57:01Speaker 1: say his medical issues were, Was he making moves to
- 57:04Speaker 1: get help? Was he under a doctor's care. I'm just
- 57:07Speaker 1: a bit surprised that you didn't go more there with him.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Maybe you thought, like a lot of women, that he
- 57:13Speaker 1: would change after you guys got married. Clearly that did
- 57:16Speaker 1: not happen. It seems like you got less sex after
- 57:20Speaker 1: you guys got married. But when the woman called you
- 57:23Speaker 1: found out that he was really, really really not given
- 57:27Speaker 1: it to you, but he was given it to her
- 57:28Speaker 1: and a whole bunch of other women according to her.
- 57:32Speaker 1: So you haven't confronted him yet. What are you holding
- 57:35Speaker 1: onto this information for? What do you think or hope
- 57:40Speaker 1: is going to happen if you don't talk to him
- 57:42Speaker 1: about it. I mean, he's cheating on you. He's not
- 57:45Speaker 1: the person he said he was the only thing maybe,
- 57:50Speaker 1: I mean, nothing about him is real. He lied live live,
- 57:53Speaker 1: live live. You gotta confront him at some point. You
- 57:57Speaker 1: gotta get to the truth because your whole marriage is
- 58:01Speaker 1: a sham. Your whole marriage is a sham. And I
- 58:05Speaker 1: know you don't want to deal with this, even though
- 58:07Speaker 1: you said you know you still love him. You've fallen
- 58:10Speaker 1: into someone you think he is. That's not who he is.
- 58:14Speaker 1: You have to get to the bottom of that. You
- 58:16Speaker 1: have to have a conversation with him. And and there's
- 58:19Speaker 1: no time like the president, Steve, don't I don't understand
- 58:24Speaker 1: the letter. This is a This entire letter is written
- 58:29Speaker 1: by sister. I gotta tell you that you just in denial.
- 58:35Speaker 1: This entire letter is about it. Now. You've been together
- 58:38Speaker 1: five years, been married three He explained to me that
- 58:42Speaker 1: he has some medical issues that sometimes kept him from
- 58:44Speaker 1: having sex. Yeah, the medical issue is he can't drive
- 58:48Speaker 1: tween these houses fast to know, that's the damn medical issue.
- 58:54Speaker 1: He can't get his foot to mash on that gas
- 58:57Speaker 1: pedal and get his reflexus to time these lights to
- 59:01Speaker 1: get back to the house in all this hell. When
- 59:03Speaker 1: we got married, we only had sex once, but he
- 59:07Speaker 1: found other ways to please me. That's because he had
- 59:10Speaker 1: to save up. So I was happy I married his
- 59:14Speaker 1: great I hoped him, prayed he would get his libido
- 59:16Speaker 1: back and we could have sex like America. Real couple
- 59:21Speaker 1: where you got your dream shouted. Recently you found out
- 59:23Speaker 1: he'd been lying to you for five years. Got a
- 59:27Speaker 1: call from this lady says she's been seeing your husband
- 59:30Speaker 1: for over a year, and she finally found out that
- 59:33Speaker 1: he got a wife. Then I did see this the
- 59:39Speaker 1: woman in you now, and I understand. I was curious
- 59:42Speaker 1: to know if they had been having sex. She sex,
- 59:48Speaker 1: he said, Hell base at having such base brain just
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I'm slave Lode, Wow, captured, can't go We quarantine Lode. Huh, Well,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: well I finished the letter. When we come back, it
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: ain't gonna be good man. Nah, all right, you heard,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I'm Steve. We'll have part two of your response coming
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: up at twenty three minutes after the hour. Subject of
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: today's Strawberry letter. My husband belongs to the streets. We'll
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: get back into it right after this. You're listening. All right, Steve,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: come on, let's recap today's strawberry letter. My husband belongs
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: to the streets. The end of the letter says, please
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: help me make sense of this. I love him, I
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: don't want to end my marriage, but this is a
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: major blow to myself esteem. What's wrong with me? How
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: should I handle this? Well? First of all, let's get
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: out of denial. Your husband lied to you about having
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: a libido problem. So before y'all got married, he only
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: got married. Y'all only had sex once and he moved in.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: But he found other ways to pleasure you, and he
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: knew he could and that would satisfy you. You were
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: hoping he'd get his libido back, like it's a magic
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: trick or something, and he can get it back. Well,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: he didn't need it back because he was using it
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: all over town. So you gotta call from this lady
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: saying she'd been seeing your husband for a year, finally
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: found out he had a wife. Then you was gearious
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: to know if they had been having sex. What what
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: I ain't gonna at whatever? Yeah, you've been you seeing
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: my husband? Are y'all having sex? Here? Brief dropping the
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: hard and bridge bringing it wa the way, knocking lamps
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: off to stare. Come and get it, Come and get it,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: don't stop bringing anyway, and said that's the main thing
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: that got us so hooked on him. And then she
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: told him that he got super girlfriends that he messed
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: around with, and he tell everybody he's single. Now. He
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: wouldn't let it get real cloudy. After the call, I
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: decided not to say nothing. What are you blind? This
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: cannot be a sister, I cannot be said. After the
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: phone call, I decided not to say that. All the
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: reason her sister ain't saying that she's busy loading the rifle,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: other than that they got something for you. I decided
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: not to say nothing and to get this next line
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: until I could prove it to myself. Wait a minute,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I'm trying to what does that mean. I decided not
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: to say nothing until I could prove it to myself.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: But you already got to prove because listen to this.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I started noticing that he keeps his phone close to
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: him all the time, didn't I tell you at the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: top of the letter, this is a letter about denial.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: He keep his phone close to him all the time.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: He works late a lot, but y'all ain't got no
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: more damn money. Though he worked later a lot, but
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: it ain't no more damn money. He's been hanging out
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: with his boys on the week end, more his boys.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: What ain't women that y'all said, you're in your forties.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: All my boys got women. They can't hang out all
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: the damn time. He's been hanging out with his boys.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: There were things that never stood out before because you
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: was in denial. He'd been doing this the whole time.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: He's been hanging out with his boys. Boys, he's been
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: he's been working late. He'd been keeping that phone strapped
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: to his thigh. He'd been doing this the whole time.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: You never noticed it to that lady call here. I
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: even drove past the woman's house one night and saw
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: his car there. And he could drive his car after that, Right, Yeah,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: wait a minute, what the police ain't getting involved at
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: this point? Ain't nobody had to call him? But yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I ain't. Nobody wanted to get busted out, right, But
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I still haven't confronted him. The car was in the driveway.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I'm saying he didn't want me sexually, teaching part he
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: didn't want me sexually, but he wanted to marry me
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: and share his life with me. No, he needed a
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: home base. Hello, he needed a place to set up
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: his operations. Sister. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to break this too.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: He's a dog as dude. He needed one woman who
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: would let him freely hang out with his boys, say
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: he working late, walk around with his phone on him
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: and all his hell and and all of this here
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: and have all these women and believe that he had
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: a libido problem. He needed that so then he could
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: have a home base to set up his operation from.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: And you happen to be in you and you're probably
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: a really really great woman, a really really good woman.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: You've just been taking advantage of him. Please help me
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: make sense of this. There is no sense to this.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Your dude is a dog. Now here's the part that
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: you're gonna have to come to terms with. I love
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: him and I don't want to end my marriage. Let
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: me let me help you understand. So you do not
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: have a marriage. You're married to him, but he's not
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: married to you in any way sexually, financial, actually, commitment wise. Nothing.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: He's not married to you. Now your marriage been over with,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: but this is a major blow them up. What's wrong
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: with me, Get out of denial, pick yourself up, realize
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: that this is not your fault and you have every
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: right to move on with your life. Wow, he's not
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: gonna change. Poster comments on Today's Strawberry Letter at Steve
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Harvey FM on Instagram and Facebook, and check out the
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Strawberry Letter podcast on demand now coming up at forty
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: six minutes after the hour. She is here. It's time
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: to get serious. Democrat politician Stacy Abrams will be our
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: special guest right after this. You're listening, hey, listen to everybody.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: As promised, we got a very very special guest on
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: the phone. This is all in line with what we've
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: been talking about and keeping with the National Census Day
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: twenty twenty, our very special guest is here today. She
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: is the former Democratic leader in the Georgia House of Representatives,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: the twenty eighteen Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia, and
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: the founder of Fair Fight Action and Fair Account. Well.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Today she's joining us to tell us about Fair account
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: and how impact a community for this year's census. Please
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: welcome back to the shore everybody, the honorable Stacy Abrams. Yes, morning,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Thank you. I hope everyone is staying safe and that
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: our thoughts and prayers remain with those on the front lines. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: it's some challenging times, but we're looking for the upside. Absolutely. Well.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you that today's National Census Day,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: and it's a day where we can start to get
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: access to money and power for twenty twenty one and beyond.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Sat down again, we get access to money and power. Yes,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: So census data is used to allocate one point five
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: trillion dollars every year for the next ten years. It's
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: used to allocate four hundred and thirty five congressional birth
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: and it's used to draw all the political lines from
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: school board to city council, the county commissioner, the state legislator,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: all the way up to Congress. So that's money and
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: that's our Yeah, and it's not hard to imagine why
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: people are scared of census because we only talk about
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: it once every ten years, and when we do, it's
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: with its urgency and it's often without good information. So
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: first and foremost, the census is confidential. The information you
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: turn in cannot be used for seventy two years. So
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: if you've got a warrant, if you owe somebody some money,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: any information you give that they can't use the census
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: to find you. I'm forty six. I cannot see a
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: census that I'm included in, and so there are four
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: of them I would have been included in. So far
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: I can't see a single one of those. Number two.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: If you have a utility bill or a cell phone,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: they can already find you. The census is about making
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: sure they count you and you get allocated the resources
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: that you deserve. Because what the census says is, here's
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: the community you live in, here's the race that you're
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: a part over, the ethnicity, here's your age group, and
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: here's your income bracket. And so when we're allocating money
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: for roads and bridges, or for snap or for hospital beds,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: they need to know who lives where and the composition
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: of the community. And if you see good communities or
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: communities with nice things getting nicer, and communities that are
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: struggling getting worse, it's because the communities that struggle tend
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: not to respond, and so every ten years they lose
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: not only the money that time, but that's on top
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: of the money they lost the last time. And the
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: communities that get better. It's the money they've already gotten
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: and then they get more money because the money doesn't disappear,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: it just gets reality. So with money and its political power,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: stay hang on one second. We're gonna come back. We
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: got a few more questions we're going to ask us
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: so we can get fully informed, so we can participate.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Everybody's got to participate in twenty twenty six. Yeah, okay,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: we'll be right back. You're listening to show, all right, everybody,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: We're back with Stacy Abans is our special guest this morning.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: She is she hasn't implemented the Fair Count initiative and
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: it provides resources to the community to find out what
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: this is. So it's a couple of things. I want
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: to talk to you about about the about the faith
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: based community partnerships, the initiative that you have, and then
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: I want to talk about the most underserved population in
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: the census program are black men. Let's talk about those
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: two things. Sure, So I launched fair Count at the
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: same time that I started Fair Fight. Fair Fight was
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: because I knew we had to pay attention to access
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: to voter protection, and fair Count is because I know
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: the census is the most effective and the most dangerous
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: tool that we don't pay attention to because the story
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: that it's told in twenty twenty is the story that
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: gets repeated between twenty twenty one all the way through
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: twenty thirty. And we know that one point seven million
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Black people are likely to not be counted in twenty
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: that's more than three billion dollars per year loss to
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: our communities, So thirty billion dollars taken from our communities.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: And Black men are the hardest community to count because
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: often they are the most distrustful of the census and
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: they are the least likely to be contacted. And so
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: fair count launched Black Men Count, and we've been working
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: across the country, specifically in the South, but everywhere trying
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: to make sure that black men know that if they
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: get counted in the census, the resources go directly to
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: their communities. But we also know that the safe community
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: is the best truth tellers that we have, and so
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: we started with an initiative where we have an app.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: So if you go to faircount dot org, we have
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: an app for pastors who are trying to communicate with
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: their flock. If you work with us to make sure
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: they sell out the census, we can work with you
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: to make sure they pay their tithes, but we are
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: also doing work to ensure that in communities that didn't
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: have access to the Internet, installed more than one hundred
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: and thirty five Wi Fi units across Georgia. Now with
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: sheltering place, that's not as useful, but we know shelter
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: in place will end, and we want to make sure
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: that those communities have access to the Internet because this
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: is the first time that eighty percent of the census
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: will be conducted online. Yes, to me, what Miss Abrams
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: is telling us, We've got to get super on top
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: of everything. We got to get this out on our
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: social media platforms. We got to make this important to
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: young people. You gotta make this important to your grandparents.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: This has to be important to everybody because it's never
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: been really explained to us this way. No one has
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: really explained it this thoroughly. Now, I mean, Michael Cook
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: did a great job, don't get me wrong, and so
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: listen everybody. Now, last question for you, Miss Abrams. The
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: census website that Michael Cook gave out to us twenty
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: twenty centis dot gov. Do you still find your information then? Yes,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: So there are three ways to solve the sensors. So
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: if you if you go online, you may have gotten
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: a form in the mail already. Some folks aren't checking
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: their mail, but it's there. But if you don't have
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: the form they sent you go to my twenty twenty
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: census dot dov. You can also call one eight four
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: four three three zero twenty twenty and you can fill
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: it out by phone. And for rural communities, and we
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: have to know in the South, about a third in Georgia,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: for example, a third of rural communities are black. So
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: we can't leave out rural communities. And a lot of
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: us come from families that still live in rural communities.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: They have delayed the hand delivery of their packets until
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: April fifteenth, and that might get pushed back even further.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: And so part of what I want people to remember
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: is we can't just think about it on census day.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: We've got to think about it through the end of
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: the year, through the time they stop the census, because
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: if they don't, if we don't, they're gonna do what's
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: called imputation. Imputation is when they decide to guess, they
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: essentially impute what the race of the people are depending
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: on who the majority of the community are. So if
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: you're in an area that gets gentrified, or you're in
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: an area where you're in the minority, it is likely
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: that they will just guess that you were white. And
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: that's how white people get overcounted and black people and
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: brown people get undercounted. All right, we're changing that this year.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: If if you don't have internet access, here's the phone
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: number eight four four zero, twenty twenty. We want to
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: ask you a couple of questions. Yeah, so stick around.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more Honorable Stacey from Abrams
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: right after this year. You're listening to show all right,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: we're back to everybody. We've got Honorable Stacey Abrams with
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: us today and we've been talking about the Sisters. Bill.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: I just want to get a couple of your thoughts here,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: come on, thought the political climate today in this country?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: What we could do better during this time right here?
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Do you have thoughts on that? Absolutely? I think unfortunately
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: the Trump administration has fumbled the response and that for
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: the last forty years, we have watched the Republican Party
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: in particular demigrate and speak ill of government officials, speak
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: ill of the roles of bureaucracies play in our lives.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: But what's happening right now is that we need our
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: bureaucracies to work. And when you sequester their funding, when
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: you cut them, when you slash their spending, and when
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you slash their staffing, it becomes harder, especially when you're
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: cutting public health investments. And that's part of what we're
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: seeing happening here. And so one thing I encourage everyone
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: to do is to make sure you're asking not only
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: your federal leaders, but you're state leaders to pledge to
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: invest in public health. Because COVID nineteen is just the
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: first round. We're going to face new and different diseases
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: in the future, and we don't know what's going to happen,
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: which is why we've got to be prepared for anything.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: The other thing I would say is that we have
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: to be prepared for our elections. If we want different leadership,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I personally am a Democrat. If we want different leadership,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: we have to have safe, insure elections, and that's why
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: we need the next stimulus package to include the full
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: funding a vote by mail and safe in person voting,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: so that every eligible voter in America gets to be
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: heard in November, so we get the leadership we deserve
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: in January. We'll be right back with more honorable Stacy
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Abrams right after this year. You're listening, all right, everybody,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: We're back with Stacy Abrams is our special guest this morning.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Just one last question, listen. Would there be any possibility
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: that you would be open to accepting the offer as
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: a running mate in the presidential campaign this year? If
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Joe Biden said, miss Abrams, would you join me in
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: this fight? How would you feel about that? I would
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: be honored and I would say that here, let me
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: say this. I've been getting this question since last year
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: and during a primary at the beginning, when I was
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: figuring out what I needed to do. My answer was
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: you don't run for second place and a primary. But
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: I also said, if people listen to the whole clip
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: was I would be honored to serve as a running mate.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I get a little bit of flak because people think
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: that I'm being too ambitious and obnoxious by answering this
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: question this way, But as a black woman, as a
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: woman of color, and as a woman, I believe that
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: it's my responsibility to live my patriotism and my patriotism
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: says that you don't pretend you don't want to serve.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: There's nothing noble about being falsely humbul What's noble is
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: being willing to do the work to serve the people.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: And that's what I'm committed to, and that's what i
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: would love to do and I'd be honored to do
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: that with the nominee for the Democratic Party. Yes, yes, yeah,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: you ran an amazing race here in Georgia, and you
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: were everything the public really wanted. Man, it was just
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: amazing the race. You ran, your your your platforms, the
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: way you articulated it, the way you the way you
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: presented yourselves in terms of a plan. I think that's
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: very much needed. Congratulations. We'll just see what happens. We
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: don't know what's going to happen, but a long as
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: it's Joe Biden, I'm cool because and just as a
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Democrat my whole life, I just wish that Democrats fought
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: like the Republicans fight because they fight dirty. Man. Well,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I don't think we have to fight dirty, but we
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: do have to fight smart. We know how to win
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: elections when Democrats do the right thing, when we organize,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: when we fight back againsider suppression. When we invest in
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: every community and we don't cherry picks the people we're
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: going to talk to. When we recognize that black voters
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: are more than just an add on. When we invest
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: in our communities early, when we treat them with respect,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: we win. That's how we won in two thousand and
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: eight and in two thousand and twelve. It's how we
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: won run over again in twenty eighteen. My campaign. You know,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: even though we didn't get the prize, we turned out
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: more voters than any Democrat in the history of Georgia.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: And so if we run smart campaigns, we don't have
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: to fight dirty. We can be the good people and
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: we can win our elections. But we've got to be
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: willing to fight hard and fight smart. Thank you so
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: much for taking that road. I'm gonna go hey, thank
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: you for Hey, everybody, Stacy Abrams, everybody, thank yeah. Coming up,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: it's our last break of the day, and we'll have
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: some closing remarks from the one and only Steve Harvey
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: at forty nine minutes after right after this. You're listening
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: all right here we are, last break of the day.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Time for Steve's closing remarks. Okay, um, today, Tommy sent me,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: so send me a caption that I'm gonna keep because
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: I oftentimes keep quotes in my motivational folder in my
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: photo stream, and I just look at him from time
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: to time when I'm feeling a certain kind of way.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Sometimes i just need a little uplift myself, you know.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: And Tommy sent me this today, then I'm gonna share
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: it with you, and it's gonna call me cause me
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: to expound on it a bit because it's something I
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: really do believe in. It says, do not ask God
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: your feet. Do not ask God to guide your footsteps
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: if you're not willing to move your feet. You know, folks,
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: it's very simple. God can put his finger on something
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: to bless if you give him something to put his
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: finger on. But you can't. You can't ask God to
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: do something. And you're making no effort. Lord help me
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: get a job, but you ain't putting in no applications,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Lord help me do right. But all you ever want
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: to do is wrong. You're you're just committed to wrong.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: You know, you gotta make a move in the right direction.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: You know, faith without works is dead. So what timey
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: sent me? Do not ask God to guide your footsteps
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: if you're not willing to move your feet. It's something
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: all of us, and all of us are guilty of it.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: From time to time. Sometimes we get complacent. Sometimes we
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: just get the feeling side by ourselves. You know, man,
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: I guess it ain't meant to be. Oh Lord, what now?
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: You know? Look, man, you can complain your way through
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: life if you want to, but you really have to
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: make an attitude adjustment. You gotta get two things moving,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: your attitude and your feet. Those two things have to
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: get moving. You gotta start taking steps. You may not
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: know the way how to get to the finish line,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: but the finish line is somewhere. It ain't where you at.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: The finish line is never where you're standing. So you
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: gotta start taking some steps. And once again, you may
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: not know all the steps necessary to get to the tape,
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: but you gotta start the process. Man. So, like the
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: caption says, stop asking God to guide your footsteps. If
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: you ain't willing to move your feet, you got to
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: put it into motion. Look, it's just a dream when
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: you're thinking about it, but you gotta put some you
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: gotta put your dreams to work. Motivation is when your
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: dreams put on work clothes. You gotta take your dreams
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: and put work clothes on the man. You gotta start
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: stepping in the right direction. You've got to make a
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: move towards the light. You've got to step towards the
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: finish line. You've got to start to get the way
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: you're trying to get to. You gotta get to go.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: You gotta go to get period. You cannot stay that
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: wherever you're trying to get. You can't be right where
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: you at. It can't be. It can't be. I give
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: you this is this is a silly example. But let's
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: say your family reunion is in Wyoming, which I know
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: it's not. That's why I said, And you drive to Wyoming.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: When you get to Wyoming, and you reach Wyoming, the
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: state of Wyoming, you still got to do something because
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: what where is the family reunion at? It just can't
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: go to Wyoming. Well, I'm here, Lord, you here, you
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: wom you Even when you get the way you say
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: you're going, you got to move around. Let's say you
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: get to the park where you're holding the family reunion
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: and you get to the park. Once you get to
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: the park, what what you gotta do something? You're gonna
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: play softball, volleyball, You're gonna sit there on the tree,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: play domino, You're gonna bob kill, You're gonna make lemonade.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: You constantly gotta be doing something. There is no when
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: you get there, you there. There is no more movement required.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: There's a movement required throughout your life, because whenever you're
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: trying to get to it ain't where you at. I
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: can promise you that it's never where you at. I'm
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: doing very well in my life. It ain't where I'm going.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: How would I be just I'm here now? This it this,
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: it what? No more dreams, Steve, no more visions. You
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: want nothing else? You hear this? It for you And
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: it doesn't matter MEI that people look at me and go, man,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: you gotta all this. I don't even see what you're
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: tripping for. I ain't tripping. I just want to be
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: more than I am. I'm really trying to be a
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: better person. I really really am. I'm not content with
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: the person I am. I could improve. I could actually
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: be better person. So I'm in the process. God ain't
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: through with me. Yet he's working on me. I'm trying.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I'm better than I used to be, but I'm still
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: got my feet moving. So I'm asking God to guide
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: my steps. But I got my feet moving. Man, Stop
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: asking God to guide your footsteps. If you ain't willing
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: to move your feet, can't happen. It's what you want.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: Come on, man, stop that. Dude, you're being unreasonable to God.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Guiding your footstep and moving your feet down the path.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: That's too different that you got to do that. You
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: make one step, he'll make two. So if you don't
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: make the one, you cannot expect him to make the two.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: He can touch you and bless you, but you gotta
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: give him something to bless. You gotta do something. Case
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: of the house watching TV. That's it. Stop asking God
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: your feet. Thank you, Tommy. That was my closing drop
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: it Okay, Now that actually sounded like a mike. That
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: was encouraging. Yeah, a good way to start the day.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Keep it going all right, y'all, have a good one.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Have a great weekend too. I'll be working. I'll be work,
