- George: Well, actually, I'm not a politician. I'm not a career politician. I know that I have to learn the political process. I have to participate in politics, but I just don't want to be infected by what's the bad. I just want to stay away from that and do the right thing, which means I really want to go back to where our forefathers planned this. And I look at our city and I'll give you this example as a kind of explanation. back 73 years ago, our city at that time had 10,000 people. Our council at that time made a decision to go with a city manager slash council form of government. 10,000 people, that's wisdom. But today No, not a strong mayor system. It's council led. He is the executive of the council. So you have the mayor and you have four council. That is four districts, right? Each district represented by one council person. And then you have the mayor, the majority rules. So in a vote for a resolution, three overcomes two, if you will. And so imagine the budget being that large. Imagine the number of people you're talking about. If you break it down in numbers very quickly, you're talking about five or $6,000 per person living in the city as a calculated resident by the census. And you say, does that person get that much value out of the out of what is paid into the city? Right. What it means. And I can tell you. We just need to have a complete revamp and analysis. Can I do that in two years? I don't think I can do that in two years, but I can make enough mark that we can get a good start at doing it. I think the budget needs to be reviewed line by line. I that can be done twice in one year so that before we get to the budget and we start working on it, I've been able to see line by line, question everything and decide. Have we bought the pencils at the right price? these enough pencils or are they too many pencils? And just break it down. That's what an engineer would do.
