- 0:00Speaker 1: My next guest is on the phone, and my next
- 0:01Speaker 1: guest is awesome. Um, I've been watching them a long time.
- 0:05Speaker 1: That's why I'm happy to have a moon show. When
- 0:06Speaker 1: you you watch people see I've been doing television in
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hollywood's naty too, so I've I've been able to see
- 0:12Speaker 1: a lot of talent grow, a lot of the top
- 0:14Speaker 1: be able to cast talented movies and sitcoms and things
- 0:17Speaker 1: like that. It's one of the younger people that I
- 0:19Speaker 1: missed as far as being able to work with. So
- 0:22Speaker 1: having him on the phone today is really a blessing.
- 0:24Speaker 1: His television and film credits include Turned Friday Night Lights, Supernatural,
- 0:28Speaker 1: The Walking Dead, The Blacklist, City of Angels, Own c S,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I e Er, Charm, Boston Public Leverage. Everybody saw him
- 0:38Speaker 1: on T and T. That's why I really saw this bug.
- 0:40Speaker 1: He Clock and Checks Now Underground w g N. That
- 0:43Speaker 1: show should still be on on w g N, Hidden Figures,
- 0:46Speaker 1: City on the Hill. He now plays the title character
- 0:50Speaker 1: on the movie I just saw last week at a
- 0:52Speaker 1: at a screening in Atlanta, Georgia, called the Brian Banks
- 0:56Speaker 1: movie has been It's being promoted heavily everywhere. Please welcome
- 0:59Speaker 1: to Money make conversations all this hodge, how are you doing? Okay,
- 1:06Speaker 1: come with that void? How are you doing? How are
- 1:07Speaker 1: you doing this? Sir? It's really good watching your career. Man,
- 1:15Speaker 1: just just grow when you when you, when you we're
- 1:17Speaker 1: gonna talk about the movie. I just want to talk
- 1:18Speaker 1: about the testament of what it takes to continually work
- 1:22Speaker 1: as consistently as you work? Can you give any of
- 1:25Speaker 1: my listeners some advice or some pointers on what you
- 1:29Speaker 1: do to continually reach your dreams? And I always tell
- 1:33Speaker 1: people you always reaching every day. I walk out of
- 1:36Speaker 1: the house every day with a new goal. Can you
- 1:38Speaker 1: can you? Can? You? Can? You share some wizards of sir.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'll try to drop this quickly because I can go
- 1:45Speaker 1: off fever on this stuff. Least go on forever because
- 1:48Speaker 1: it's important. I've been in this business for thirty years.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So where people are possibly discovering me now, they don't
- 1:56Speaker 1: realize that it takes years of sacrifice and dedication to
- 2:01Speaker 1: get to this place where you're building up different caliber
- 2:05Speaker 1: of opportunities and it all is sort of based on
- 2:09Speaker 1: your preparation. You know, a lot of people get opportunities
- 2:11Speaker 1: come their way, but they may not be prepared to
- 2:13Speaker 1: handle it, so may pass by or they may squander
- 2:15Speaker 1: the actual opportunity. So you have to understand who you
- 2:18Speaker 1: are and what you want out of it. Um when
- 2:21Speaker 1: it comes to being an actor, I tell people all
- 2:24Speaker 1: the time forget trying to be famous and trying to
- 2:26Speaker 1: get money, and if that's what you want, go do
- 2:28Speaker 1: something else. If you want to be an actor, entertainment,
- 2:31Speaker 1: anything you want to do as a real artist at
- 2:34Speaker 1: your craft, you should always seek to put more into
- 2:37Speaker 1: it than you get out of it because at the
- 2:38Speaker 1: end of the day, you'll get something out of it. Now,
- 2:41Speaker 1: granted you can do a movie, you can get twenty
- 2:42Speaker 1: million dollars, you should put fifty million dollars worth of
- 2:47Speaker 1: value into that film because what's gonna be on that
- 2:50Speaker 1: film is gonna last forever. People will always watch your
- 2:53Speaker 1: legacy and be able to learn from it. You should
- 2:55Speaker 1: want to continue to grow and elevate. And for me,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I stand in the place of trying to effective art
- 3:01Speaker 1: hen you know, projects like on the Ground and Brian Banks.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I hate to figure it's like this is effective art
- 3:06Speaker 1: that moves to culture in a different way because it
- 3:08Speaker 1: shows and exhibits the beauty of black people of black
- 3:11Speaker 1: culture and just people in general to a degree of
- 3:14Speaker 1: normal sing and gives us a voice in a different way. Now,
- 3:17Speaker 1: Like I said, I've been doing this thirty years. I
- 3:19Speaker 1: have a firm foundation with my family, my mom, my brother,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and my sister that helps immensely, especially in the dark
- 3:24Speaker 1: times when the business is telling you you're not enough.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I've been in rooms before as a child where you know,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I've been twelve years old in the audition with it like, hey,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you're not black enough. I'm like, what does that mean?
- 3:34Speaker 1: You have to fully know your value. When you're challenging
- 3:37Speaker 1: a business like this that wants to strip everything about
- 3:39Speaker 1: your way and replace it with something artificial. You have
- 3:42Speaker 1: to demand attention for who and what you are and
- 3:48Speaker 1: maintain everything that makes you special, which is already there.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You don't have to fabricate it, but understand what your
- 3:56Speaker 1: goal is. You know what kind of project if you
- 4:00Speaker 1: want to be a part of him, and why you know? Really,
- 4:03Speaker 1: the big question is why, why do you want to
- 4:05Speaker 1: be here, Why do you want to do this? And
- 4:07Speaker 1: are you prepared to make the sacrifice. There are times
- 4:09Speaker 1: where I didn't work for months on end, almost a
- 4:11Speaker 1: whole year, or times where I got fired for real,
- 4:15Speaker 1: really awkward reasons like being uh too too popular the
- 4:20Speaker 1: character on the show. Um, But you can't let that
- 4:24Speaker 1: beat you down because you know your why. It's substantial.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Your why is what's going to carry you through, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: a good reputation. Treating everyone with fairness along the way
- 4:33Speaker 1: is what kind of pushes you down in longevity because
- 4:38Speaker 1: people will understand that, they will notice that. They will
- 4:41Speaker 1: then also respect that they don't want to work with
- 4:43Speaker 1: you yet. So understand why you're doing it, what you
- 4:46Speaker 1: want to get out of it, Understand what you're trying
- 4:48Speaker 1: to put into it, and keep yourself levelheaded and and
- 4:51Speaker 1: and always hungry. You know, as an artist, the moment
- 4:54Speaker 1: you become complacent or stop moving, you die. Your art
- 4:58Speaker 1: dies because you think, well, there's no more room to grow.
- 5:00Speaker 1: There's always room to grow, always something new to learn.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So always be a humble student of the craft at
- 5:06Speaker 1: all times. You can learn so much from a producer,
- 5:10Speaker 1: from a director. You can also learn a lot from
- 5:12Speaker 1: a background artist. Uh. You just have to be open
- 5:15Speaker 1: and humble about how you approach everybody's positioning with respect.
- 5:20Speaker 1: That's powerful, my friend, because a person who's who's been
- 5:24Speaker 1: in a position to do the things you've done. The
- 5:26Speaker 1: humble part really leads to your greatness, and a lot
- 5:29Speaker 1: of people understand that. And the thing about it when
- 5:31Speaker 1: I was watching the movie, a little history about me
- 5:33Speaker 1: and this project, Brian Banks project, is that civil rights
- 5:37Speaker 1: attorney Benjamin Crump and I several years ago, was doing
- 5:39Speaker 1: this TV show called UH for TV Wonder that aired,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and we reached out to the Brian Banks people and
- 5:46Speaker 1: he said, no, we got a movie project we're working on.
- 5:48Speaker 1: We won't do your TV show. Okay, cool, so fast.
- 5:52Speaker 1: You know it's fast forward and you know fast. So
- 5:55Speaker 1: I knew it a little bit about this history because
- 5:56Speaker 1: the TV show is about wrongfully incarcerated people, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: and UH, people who have been in jail for no
- 6:02Speaker 1: reason at all got out. Some sometimes they gotta check,
- 6:05Speaker 1: sometimes they just gotta I'm sorry, okay. And when I
- 6:09Speaker 1: was when I was invited to see this movie, so
- 6:11Speaker 1: that was a kind of a personal history to the movie.
- 6:14Speaker 1: When I sat down, I was and I was overjoyed
- 6:17Speaker 1: to know that you were the lead character in it.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Now absolutely, you know, because because I'm sitting down there,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm looking at them arms and it was like, Okay,
- 6:25Speaker 1: now he's been in the gym doing his thing, you
- 6:28Speaker 1: know it would be authentic and everything, so telling me
- 6:31Speaker 1: about the preparation, and then I didn't get a chance
- 6:35Speaker 1: to physically meet Brian, but he did come out and
- 6:38Speaker 1: talk a little bit about it, so I know that
- 6:40Speaker 1: to overcome incarceration and and some of the some of
- 6:44Speaker 1: the plot storytelling of his dream kept being knocked back,
- 6:48Speaker 1: knocked back, knocked back, knocked back. How did you how
- 6:51Speaker 1: were you able to sustain the reality and bring it
- 6:54Speaker 1: or make it authentic to his situation and bring it
- 6:57Speaker 1: on the screen. That made me not only cheer for
- 7:00Speaker 1: the results even though I knew the results, I still
- 7:03Speaker 1: a cheer for the results in the outcome. Thank you.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Um well, it was really just Brian. He was every day. Um,
- 7:11Speaker 1: we talked every day, we were in the gym most days.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We trained for about a month, almost every single day
- 7:20Speaker 1: before even got down the set to start shooting. And uh,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know, we were with each other every single day
- 7:27Speaker 1: throughout the shooting, you know, talking, kicking and hanging out
- 7:30Speaker 1: before every scene. I was talking about the scenario and
- 7:32Speaker 1: asking where his mindset was as he went through it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And he was just brave and vulnerable enough to go
- 7:38Speaker 1: back down that dark road, that dark memory road, memory
- 7:42Speaker 1: laying I mean to um take me through it, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: just being able to observe him and pull the honesty
- 7:48Speaker 1: out of him. It's what I wanted to transfer on
- 7:50Speaker 1: screen because I'm not playing a character or a characculture
- 7:53Speaker 1: of I'm playing him. He's a really thing, my interpretation
- 7:57Speaker 1: of him. But I want to give the audience the
- 8:02Speaker 1: vision of him that's most honest, given what I've seen
- 8:07Speaker 1: from him personally, what he's shown me, what I've seen
- 8:10Speaker 1: of him as he's interacted with other people. There's a
- 8:13Speaker 1: light there, There's a a positivity there. There's a different
- 8:17Speaker 1: sort of strengthen there that comes from having been through
- 8:23Speaker 1: something and coming through the other side of impossibility that
- 8:28Speaker 1: that's hard to fabricate if you don't understand struggle. So
- 8:33Speaker 1: we just had a lot of fellowship man, and I
- 8:35Speaker 1: was lucky because of the fact that he was right
- 8:36Speaker 1: there and I really didn't have to figure it out
- 8:40Speaker 1: too much, that he was just available, you know, a soundboard,
- 8:43Speaker 1: and you know, we connected on hardships that we've both
- 8:47Speaker 1: been through in our lives. That's kind of where we
- 8:50Speaker 1: found synergy, you know, in our mindsets and how to
- 8:54Speaker 1: try to deal with things. So wow, you know, just
- 8:58Speaker 1: sitting in the theater watching the movie as if I
- 9:01Speaker 1: was surrounded by friends and but you're you're in a
- 9:03Speaker 1: dark space, you know, your own That's one thing about
- 9:05Speaker 1: the movie theaters is that when you're going there, he's
- 9:07Speaker 1: not at your house. You know, you kind of like
- 9:10Speaker 1: you kind of can become your own moment. You know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: you can be in your own little world. And to
- 9:14Speaker 1: watch a movie like this and watch a young man
- 9:17Speaker 1: who's what we're talking about, Brian Banks, the role that
- 9:20Speaker 1: you played, it's amazing. I want to get more into
- 9:23Speaker 1: the character. Also more to you where you where you
- 9:28Speaker 1: stand in life? You know you you opened up my
- 9:30Speaker 1: show with this amazing uh uh motivational moment that I'm
- 9:34Speaker 1: gonna carve out and also set aside so people can
- 9:37Speaker 1: know if you get in the acting business, you want
- 9:39Speaker 1: to make a commitment to this. There are no guarantees
- 9:42Speaker 1: and if you if you if you're looking for a guarantee,
- 9:45Speaker 1: this is not the job you want. And like he said,
- 9:48Speaker 1: he got dismissed because he was a popular character on
- 9:50Speaker 1: the show. How do you do that? It happens all
- 9:53Speaker 1: the time. I believe me, I've seen it. You know
- 9:56Speaker 1: the start of show say, hey, you got all the
- 9:58Speaker 1: funny lines. Well maybe because he's funny, you just got miscasts.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But guess what that that did not stop him becoming
- 10:07Speaker 1: the success he is today. That's on this movie. Brian
- 10:10Speaker 1: Banks will be back with board my man. Oh this Hodge, Hi,
- 10:14Speaker 1: this was Sean mcgunn. You're listening to Money Making Conversation. Um,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm blowing up. I'm blowing up. And guess what you're
- 10:20Speaker 1: listening because you're listening and telling people about the show
- 10:23Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations hosted by Rachhane mcgunn makes me feel that, hey,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I have value. Once people realize they have value, that
- 10:30Speaker 1: guess what? You turn that value into capital, and capital
- 10:33Speaker 1: could be achieved both ways, financial and human. Human capital
- 10:38Speaker 1: is why I'm gonna grow human capital beings that the
- 10:41Speaker 1: people are listening to my show, they're sharing my show,
- 10:44Speaker 1: they're downloading my show, they're playing my show. That is
- 10:47Speaker 1: human capital growth. That's what I'm seeking right now on
- 10:50Speaker 1: my show Money Making Conversation, because the money is gonna come.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm not doing this show right now for money. I'm
- 10:56Speaker 1: doing this show because guess what I want to be
- 10:58Speaker 1: rich and human capital and guess what that's what money made.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Conversation on I'm going back to my man, he's said,
- 11:05Speaker 1: now he's listening on the line. Thank you for calling
- 11:07Speaker 1: on the show all this hard. You've seen him on Leverage,
- 11:11Speaker 1: You've seen him on Underground, which was on gene which
- 11:14Speaker 1: is amazing. It's really great watching you because there's a
- 11:17Speaker 1: lot of promos are running right now on the movie
- 11:20Speaker 1: promoting the movie to go see the movie, watching you know,
- 11:24Speaker 1: just watching you, you know television, you know, you know,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I've seen you in the Hidden Figures. I've seen you
- 11:29Speaker 1: in the Sir Roger p Hinson movie and on the
- 11:32Speaker 1: small screen just watching you feel that screen? Man, How
- 11:35Speaker 1: does that make you feel? Man? That's you know, it's
- 11:38Speaker 1: it's it's a difference when you are the man when
- 11:40Speaker 1: you start, when you're the driving force of a project,
- 11:44Speaker 1: how does that make you feel? Um? I mean for me,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, this is the very first time in microraft
- 11:53Speaker 1: have this responsibility then tell character and to call this
- 11:58Speaker 1: man's legacy. So you know me and for me, that
- 12:00Speaker 1: started with Brian really being our driving forces, our inspiration
- 12:04Speaker 1: and the reason we all came together. So the idea
- 12:07Speaker 1: of the film is far bigger than any individual one
- 12:09Speaker 1: of those actors, right as he's every project, it's not
- 12:12Speaker 1: never really, it's never about one person. Um, It's all
- 12:15Speaker 1: about the goal. And for this the goal is to
- 12:17Speaker 1: be an asset to Brian's purpose because he's still you
- 12:20Speaker 1: know works, he sits on the board of the California
- 12:23Speaker 1: ANSWERCE Project, the CIP. He's still that's public speaking nationwide, worldwide,
- 12:28Speaker 1: like he's still living in his purpose. And that's what
- 12:30Speaker 1: the film is. It's an asset to what he's already doing. Right,
- 12:34Speaker 1: So we need to walk in that anonymously. And that
- 12:38Speaker 1: was the main priority that I had was to get
- 12:41Speaker 1: that right, so to be able to bear that responsibility
- 12:46Speaker 1: with But you look good bearing it. You look good
- 12:49Speaker 1: bearing it. But you look good bearing it. But you
- 12:53Speaker 1: look good. You look, you look at ten, you look
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know. I gotta breaking up, man, because I've been
- 12:59Speaker 1: watching you, brother, and this this is a proud moment
- 13:01Speaker 1: for me talking to you, because like I said, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 1: you said, I've been this business thirty years. Man, I've
- 13:07Speaker 1: been told people and it is business. I'm telling people
- 13:10Speaker 1: about this business, about the Hollywood Hollywood is about the youth.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Is a racism? Is this uh sexual harassment? We all
- 13:18Speaker 1: know now that it exists. Age discrimination exists. So you're
- 13:22Speaker 1: walking into a room where sometimes people will tell you
- 13:25Speaker 1: we don't want you just for just say you don't
- 13:28Speaker 1: and you they're not knowing. Okay, Okay, I worked on
- 13:31Speaker 1: this line or this line or this this monologue, and
- 13:34Speaker 1: what give me something so I can walk out of
- 13:36Speaker 1: here and give me some uplift when I go to
- 13:38Speaker 1: the next one. No, No, they they ain't their job.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Their their job, that's not part of their job. And
- 13:44Speaker 1: when I see you giving this opportunity because I mean
- 13:48Speaker 1: I got your resume, I got you, I got what
- 13:50Speaker 1: you've done. And then so I'm watching the movie right, oh,
- 13:53Speaker 1: just watching the movie. Okay, you're doing it and then
- 13:57Speaker 1: seeing the emmertional turns. And plus you're playing an age
- 13:59Speaker 1: rank and that's a credibility thing there when you're playing
- 14:02Speaker 1: an age range too. Does he does he look credible? Young?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Does you look credible? When when when he's when he's
- 14:09Speaker 1: at this age and you and you're dealing out each point,
- 14:12Speaker 1: And that's that's what an emotional charge your journey because
- 14:16Speaker 1: guess what you're playing. I want to say you played
- 14:19Speaker 1: maybe uh maybe almost a twenty year window correct and
- 14:24Speaker 1: then that whole character art, then that whole character arc,
- 14:30Speaker 1: and you hit each level of credibility or physical Look,
- 14:36Speaker 1: I bought into everything you said, even from an athletic standpoint.
- 14:40Speaker 1: In the Brian Banks movie. You look like you could
- 14:42Speaker 1: play lineback up. You look like you could take somebody out.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And when you jumped up, I'm I'm doing a little
- 14:48Speaker 1: bragging on my when I was when I was young. Now,
- 14:51Speaker 1: I my mom had and my dad had a little
- 14:53Speaker 1: five foot fence. You know, I could leap that fence
- 14:57Speaker 1: just one step. That was about That was my athletic moment.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You know, I thought I could hoop. Yeah. When I
- 15:04Speaker 1: saw you jump up on that stack. When I saw
- 15:07Speaker 1: you jump up on the boxes, brother, well, I said, okay, now, okay, no,
- 15:13Speaker 1: he ain't missing around man. That's that that's a credib
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's the credibility you brought to the video of There's
- 15:21Speaker 1: a video brom actually doing box stumps and you get
- 15:23Speaker 1: a six foot box stumps. So that's what we're um
- 15:27Speaker 1: trying to emulate there. So it was that stack was
- 15:30Speaker 1: pretty hot, uh man, I had to go to work, man,
- 15:35Speaker 1: because I was trying to show every fashion of him
- 15:37Speaker 1: and how hard you're working all different areas of his
- 15:40Speaker 1: life in order to get his life back. So yeah, man,
- 15:43Speaker 1: it was it was a great challenge. This this is
- 15:45Speaker 1: really a transformation emotionally, mentally and physically for me. And
- 15:49Speaker 1: that's what I love about the job. It's when I
- 15:50Speaker 1: could get a piece of work, piece of art that
- 15:54Speaker 1: forces me to grow in different areas like this, I
- 15:57Speaker 1: just eat it up because now I'm puts to my
- 16:00Speaker 1: limits and my potential has to um be made in
- 16:04Speaker 1: order for me to do the job. So that's what
- 16:08Speaker 1: this job really gave me, man, was a whole profound
- 16:12Speaker 1: outlook on what my capabilities are. And I couldn't be
- 16:15Speaker 1: more grateful. Well, you know the thing about it all
- 16:17Speaker 1: this is your capabilities are justtood. You've got a body
- 16:20Speaker 1: of work, you know, it's just given the chance to expound,
- 16:24Speaker 1: expand on that body of work. And we're talking with
- 16:26Speaker 1: all this. Hodge he started. He's the title character in
- 16:29Speaker 1: the new Brian Banks movie and Brian Banks. If you
- 16:31Speaker 1: don't know, it was wrong free incarcerated because a young
- 16:34Speaker 1: lady accused him of a rape and uh, he's been
- 16:37Speaker 1: six years in jail and then additional on probation, and
- 16:41Speaker 1: all along he thought, all along he was given bad information.
- 16:44Speaker 1: This is a classic story of bad information leads you
- 16:48Speaker 1: to more bad situations. And it also tells you how
- 16:52Speaker 1: money can stop you. If you have money, Yeah, people
- 16:55Speaker 1: who believe in you, who got money or support can
- 16:59Speaker 1: redirect you to a level of success in your life
- 17:01Speaker 1: that you never dreamed of. And that's what I took
- 17:04Speaker 1: away from the movie watching You. You know, when you
- 17:07Speaker 1: when you, when you're sitting in the room with that
- 17:09Speaker 1: with you, with with the attorney who was supposed to
- 17:12Speaker 1: support you and direct you, and basically she was just,
- 17:15Speaker 1: she was just. She had lumped you in a situation
- 17:17Speaker 1: that all young African American man are being lumped in
- 17:20Speaker 1: on the daily basis, or people of color are being
- 17:23Speaker 1: lumped in on the daily basis. Hey man, this is
- 17:25Speaker 1: the best you got. Take it. That was defining for me.
- 17:28Speaker 1: All this that was defining for me. I'm just gonna
- 17:31Speaker 1: let you know that in this movie, Brian Banks, oh Man, well,
- 17:36Speaker 1: thank you and so and so when one moment there
- 17:40Speaker 1: was also really critical for me. When they arrested you
- 17:44Speaker 1: and pulled you out, you know, and accused you. You know,
- 17:48Speaker 1: how did you manufacture that level of disbelief, a level
- 17:52Speaker 1: of because you know, that wasn't a real moment for you.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That was a real moment for the real Brian Banks,
- 17:58Speaker 1: but that was not a moment for me. How are
- 18:00Speaker 1: you able as an actor to be able to come
- 18:03Speaker 1: to that point emotionally, to be able to give us
- 18:05Speaker 1: the realism or when you were when the character was
- 18:08Speaker 1: first arrested and accused of rape out of nowhere? Um,
- 18:12Speaker 1: I think that's the moment that we all experienced in
- 18:14Speaker 1: terms of black culture, with a less of how we
- 18:17Speaker 1: interpreted that fear and that pain is connected through all
- 18:20Speaker 1: of us because of how we're treated in media, how
- 18:22Speaker 1: this government treats transgressions against us, the lack of consideration,
- 18:27Speaker 1: a lack of concern for who and what we are.
- 18:30Speaker 1: So it's internalizing that pain and trying my best to
- 18:35Speaker 1: interpret what I feel whenever I hear these stories, what
- 18:37Speaker 1: I feel whenever I see one of our brothers and
- 18:40Speaker 1: sisters being taken from us. You know, with the law
- 18:43Speaker 1: protecting you know, UH get grievances UH committed by you know,
- 18:50Speaker 1: be a polican whomever, um, my shooters, whatever, you know.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Whenever we're attacked, we feel as a whole. I think
- 18:57Speaker 1: we feel it as as a whole culture. So it's
- 19:00Speaker 1: easier to happen to that pain because we see it
- 19:02Speaker 1: all to all times. And when it came to that,
- 19:04Speaker 1: it was just the idea of yet again, because of
- 19:10Speaker 1: who what I am, everything that I am, everything that
- 19:13Speaker 1: makes me naturally beautiful, it makes me meet, is being
- 19:17Speaker 1: taken away simply because the world that I live in
- 19:24Speaker 1: needs me, warrants me to be less than the world
- 19:28Speaker 1: that I'm living. And I'm not saying that everybody, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. I'm saying in his reality dealing
- 19:32Speaker 1: with you know, the police, that and and and the
- 19:36Speaker 1: statistics that go against in the world that he's living
- 19:38Speaker 1: in pointing against him and his success. Um. And it's
- 19:43Speaker 1: up to him then at that point to change it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Because we control our destiny, we command our value, we
- 19:51Speaker 1: command our steps, and we have to actively participate in
- 19:54Speaker 1: our in the potential of our future. So with that said,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I just wanted to express us before range of him
- 20:01Speaker 1: from the darkest times all the way to this the
- 20:04Speaker 1: most enlightened times, and in that moment, it was how
- 20:07Speaker 1: much pain can one bear? How much pain can we
- 20:11Speaker 1: bear as a culture? How how does that fear look
- 20:14Speaker 1: when you can't do anything about the fact that your life,
- 20:18Speaker 1: your freedom, you're everything is being snatched away. We've seen
- 20:21Speaker 1: the time and time again on the news or heard
- 20:23Speaker 1: from families that we may have experienced a little bit
- 20:25Speaker 1: of ourselves. But it's simply was digging deep into the
- 20:30Speaker 1: history that I understood as I've seen, as I've seen
- 20:33Speaker 1: my culture being treated over the years. I'm gonna let
- 20:35Speaker 1: you go with my brother. Thank you all this Hodge
- 20:37Speaker 1: in the Great Movie. I saw it myself. Um cried
- 20:40Speaker 1: up in the end, cheer standing ovation. Brian Banks is
- 20:43Speaker 1: the movie. He's out there, y'all support him. I'm gonna
- 20:46Speaker 1: support him. Keep winning, my man,
