Transcript
- 0:00Hello, and this is the Apocalypse Will Be Podcasted.
- 0:03We are a married couple from Atlanta with boring
- 0:05day jobs. We have been together 12 years, and
- 0:08we usually create a lot of weird performance
- 0:10art to entertain people. But we are trying our
- 0:13hand at having a podcast because we have had
- 0:16an obsession lately, and that obsession is Dungeon
- 0:20Crawler Carl. This is a spoilers podcast, and
- 0:23we will be discussing plot points from all seven
- 0:26Dungeon Crawler Carl books. You should not start
- 0:30this podcast until you have finished book seven.
- 0:33We will not be discussing anything from Patreon
- 0:36or the Pineapple Cabaret. There are spoilers
- 0:39from this point forward. Be warned. Well, Nikki,
- 0:43today we are going to talk about one of my favorite
- 0:45topics, which is illicit butthole money. Those
- 0:48are three words that I never expected to hear
- 0:51or read following each other. Definitely not
- 0:54something I ever thought I'd have a podcast talking
- 0:56about. Absolutely. You know, there's just sometimes
- 0:59words that independently, there's nothing super
- 1:03special about them. Together they make magic.
- 1:07Exactly. This chapter starts out reminding us
- 1:10that the ceasefire remains in effect for 56 more
- 1:13hours. Wow. So that means that all that box opening
- 1:16happened in less than four hours. All of that,
- 1:19everything that's happened between chapter one
- 1:22and chapter seven, where we're at now, happens
- 1:25in four hours, which. Really feels like we're
- 1:28following along in real time, which is just cool.
- 1:30I definitely would have thought more time would
- 1:33pass, but they also keep highlighting how many
- 1:38hours are left. And I think that's waving a bit
- 1:40of a red flag around. Yeah, it's definitely alluding
- 1:43to the ceasefire ending early, I would say. And
- 1:47then we go into, you know, kind of what everyone's
- 1:51doing. Everyone's super busy. They've got their
- 1:53different plans going on. and most crawlers are
- 1:57wanting to be in the princess posse, but things
- 2:01are still just kind of bottlenecked because Carl,
- 2:04Dona, the officers, and everyone still have to
- 2:06physically make contact with all of the crawlers,
- 2:09and that just takes time. It's time for everyone
- 2:12to go on a walk. They're going to go on a walkabout.
- 2:15So a couple of chapters ago, Carl was trying
- 2:18to get Samantha to stay inside because she was
- 2:20running around, causing chaos, trying to kill
- 2:23Tish. Poor Tish. She doesn't deserve all this
- 2:26ire. No, well, and Samantha also doesn't stay
- 2:29inside like she was asked. She does not, and
- 2:32it comes up again. Carl telling Samantha to stay
- 2:35inside, and Samantha doesn't ever listen to anyone.
- 2:39No, never. She does come through every now and
- 2:42again. I mean, surprisingly often for how chaotic
- 2:45she is. Yeah. It is funny that Tish never does
- 2:49enter the story again. I would have liked to...
- 2:52see some kind of head -to -head with Tish and
- 2:56Samantha, I imagine that would have just been
- 2:58a very entertaining scene. Correction, she hasn't
- 3:02entered the story again yet. I can't imagine
- 3:04that she's going to come back around on a later
- 3:07floor at this point. Anything is possible, though.
- 3:10Anything is possible. I just don't know if it
- 3:13would make sense. Well, keeping in mind that,
- 3:17you know, they said that they're trying to do
- 3:19everything as cheaply as possible. The showrunners?
- 3:22Yeah. And that they're reusing characters that
- 3:25they would not usually reuse. This is true. I
- 3:28do think it's possible that she could come back.
- 3:30Who knows? Yeah, we'll see. Time will tell. Next
- 3:33thing we've got, Katya is working on creating
- 3:37some kind of conveyance for Tran. And basically,
- 3:42we get to see that in a few chapters from now,
- 3:45but it is kind of like Odette's crab -like body.
- 3:47And then he has like a battle mode. where he
- 3:50can have his entire body covered in armor, kind
- 3:52of like how paws look. Pretty badass. So Donut
- 3:56is talking to Carl while they're on their walkabout
- 3:59that she's not sure if they should trust Florin.
- 4:02I don't think that they shouldn't trust Florin,
- 4:05but there's some... Yeah, I mean, I think that
- 4:08his dedication to trying to figure out what's
- 4:12going on with Lucy Amar and the children. to
- 4:16me shows that he is deep down a good guy and
- 4:19has good intentions and he's definitely never
- 4:22done anything to make us mistrust him but trustworthy
- 4:26and forthcoming are different things and I think
- 4:29because Donut has no filter and she always just
- 4:33throws out what she's thinking all the time it
- 4:36makes her you know distrustful of people who
- 4:38are a little bit more reserved like Lauren yeah
- 4:41that makes sense and there's definitely a lot
- 4:45of trauma and mystery in his past. And there
- 4:48must be a very good reason why he doesn't want
- 4:52to talk about it. And as we've mentioned multiple
- 4:55times, I'm sure we're going to learn a lot about
- 4:58that in the Florin graphic novel coming out in
- 5:02however long. Yeah. So Carl says that they need
- 5:05Florin because Imani is good at communicating
- 5:08with people, but Florin is good at communicating
- 5:11with soldiers. And those are different skills.
- 5:14They absolutely are. And I think Imani does a
- 5:17wonderful job, especially in the ramp up, of
- 5:20kind of keeping people calm and collected. Well,
- 5:24her buffs help. Right. And I will say that I
- 5:28don't think the rest of this book works without
- 5:30Florin. Straight up. No, and it doesn't. And
- 5:34during the ramp up, they keep mentioning that
- 5:37Florin is at the northern front fighting off
- 5:40a lot of the bigger... forces from the Skull
- 5:43Empire and some of the other larger factions
- 5:45while the story centers around and shows us what's
- 5:48happening on the southern front. But he's definitely
- 5:51kicking ass and taking names over there. Well,
- 5:54and I think it's so interesting that at the beginning
- 5:57of the series, it was just Donut and Carl. And
- 6:01now there are so many characters that are absolutely
- 6:05essential to the plot. They are, and there's
- 6:08so many that it's just not possible to show us
- 6:10what's happening with every single person at
- 6:12any given time, even if what they're off doing
- 6:14is really critical to the overall plot of the
- 6:17book. Well, and Donut and Carl certainly can't
- 6:19fight an entire war by themselves. They were
- 6:21going to try. They were going to do their best.
- 6:24Absolutely. And after this is where we get into
- 6:28the glory of Chapter 7. And just a quick note
- 6:34that's really funny is that Much to Donut's utter
- 6:39dismay, Mongo and Rin are absolutely best friends.
- 6:43They love playing together. Rin climbs up on
- 6:46top of Mongo and rides around on him. They don't
- 6:48know how he's able to do that, and this is definitely,
- 6:50I feel like, just some video game logic where
- 6:53even though it doesn't really make sense as far
- 6:56as physics go, it happens because it's cute.
- 6:59I imagine that Mongo puts his head in and puts
- 7:02his head down and Rin just rolls over it onto
- 7:05his back. Makes sense. Instead of rolling into
- 7:07his mouth, he rolls up his head and neck. Hey,
- 7:11progress. Yeah, or maybe up his tail. That can
- 7:13make sense, too. I don't know what kind of tails
- 7:15velociraptors have, to be honest. Mongo's has
- 7:17feathers, but I imagine he has some dexterity
- 7:21with it that could help along with Rin getting
- 7:23on his back. Maybe it's like a paddle ball. This
- 7:26is a serious digression. I was going to say the
- 7:28same thing. This is a serious digression. So,
- 7:31getting back on track. Donut and Carl enter the
- 7:35safe room and find Louie and Brittany waiting
- 7:38for them. And Louie is in the process of zipping
- 7:41up his leather jacket where Donut gets a little
- 7:46peek of the shirt that she is wearing. Donut's
- 7:50like, I'm sorry, what is that? Yeah, so it's
- 7:53a Donut Holes shirt, which if you want to see
- 7:57what this looks like, they actually do sell it
- 7:59in Matt's official merch. So go check it out.
- 8:02Yeah, it's an exact rendition of the shirt that
- 8:05Louie is wearing. And it is described as a graphic
- 8:10tee featuring a hand -drawn picture of a cat.
- 8:13It is a caricature of a fat, fluffy cat's backside.
- 8:16And the cat is turned around, looking over her
- 8:19shoulder. The words donut holes in English spread
- 8:21across the pots. But in the O in both donut and
- 8:24holes were pink donuts. And then one of them
- 8:28is centered just below the cat's tail with a
- 8:30tiny little X. which would be a cartoon version
- 8:34of the cat's butthole. We actually used to have
- 8:37a shirt. I don't know if we still have it. I
- 8:38haven't seen it in a while. It's really old and
- 8:40kind of ratty. It's just a bunch of cats showing
- 8:42off their buttholes. It's really cute. So Dona
- 8:46is absolutely appalled here. And there's just
- 8:49a lot of really great dialogue going back and
- 8:51forth here. She calls it dairy airborne. Guerriere
- 8:54porn. She says, oh my god, Carl, it's porn. This
- 8:57is unauthorized Guerriere porn. The Donut Holes
- 9:00are an unauthorized fan group and now they have
- 9:02merch. Merch that exploits my backside. Carl,
- 9:05do something. Yeah, and apparently nobody's going
- 9:09to do something because she tries to get Carl
- 9:11to do something about it. She tries to get Zev
- 9:14to do something about it. And yeah, it's just
- 9:18not really something that they can do anything
- 9:21about. And the reason why is because This is
- 9:24a magical item and it was given to Louie on the
- 9:29Dungeon Crawler Sidekicks TV show. And apparently
- 9:33everyone who has been asked to go on that show
- 9:36receives an item that has a image of someone
- 9:41else and is magical. So Brittany has underwear
- 9:45that has Ellie on it that says stay frosty. Right.
- 9:48I wanted to note here that. you know, Brittany
- 9:51and Louie were on the sidekicks show. And my
- 9:54guess is that they were selected to be on that
- 9:56show under the impression or illusion that they
- 10:01are sidekicks to Carl and Donut with Carl and
- 10:04Donut being the top crawlers. And then they're
- 10:06involved in their team and story arc. Yeah. So
- 10:09Carl and Donut wouldn't go on there because they're
- 10:11main characters. Right. Absolutely not. So Donut
- 10:15says Katia went on that show and she doesn't
- 10:18wear anything like that. Brittany and Louis looked
- 10:21at each other, and we'll get into that much later.
- 10:24Let me find out what Katya has. Sure do. I don't
- 10:28remember right now, so I can't wait to learn
- 10:30all about it again. It'll be a while. It's in
- 10:32the very last chapter. So Donut keeps being very
- 10:35upset about this, and she tells Carl, how would
- 10:40you feel if someone was wearing a t -shirt with
- 10:42your butthole on it? And Carl tells her, I don't
- 10:46stick my butthole in everybody's face when they're
- 10:48trying to sit down and eat. And Donut's like,
- 10:50well, excuse me, I'm just trying to show affection.
- 10:52I mean, really, come on. I mean, anyone who has
- 10:55a cat knows that this is a thing. Yeah, cats
- 11:00do tell you I love you by sticking their butthole
- 11:03in your face, which, you know, is unfortunate
- 11:07because they have this amazing place in between
- 11:09their ears where giving them kisses are the best,
- 11:12and cats don't like that. But they do like putting
- 11:16their butthole in your face. Unfortunately. Yeah.
- 11:19Absolutely. And this is where we learn that Donut
- 11:24is still watching Snicks. Sounds like pretty
- 11:26regularly. Which, regardless of what she says
- 11:30next, I just find this very odd behavior that
- 11:34she is regularly watching porn of herself, her
- 11:38teammates, her teammates fucking each other.
- 11:41Like, what the fuck? Yeah. Carl says that she
- 11:45was talking about one with Donut, Samantha and
- 11:49Louie. So not only is she watching them, but
- 11:51she's talking about them to other people. Yeah.
- 11:54And Donut says, you know what? That's different,
- 11:56Carl. That's fan art and it's beautiful. And
- 11:58I just don't know why she has this different
- 12:01perspective. I mean, she does make the note that
- 12:03that's just fan art. It's not for profit. And
- 12:06she has a problem with this because it is for
- 12:07profit. Well, I think she has a problem with
- 12:10that because she's worried that she's not. getting
- 12:12any of the profits. And basically what Zev says
- 12:17is that they set the limits very high on merchandising
- 12:21shares and that they don't expect anyone to ever
- 12:25actually hit them. And they do expect some people
- 12:29to get very popular. And Zev says, I don't think
- 12:32anyone has ever gotten close and not even Remix
- 12:36or Odette or Natumba. And she says, your stuff
- 12:40sells great donut, but the limit is high. And
- 12:43boy, do I wish I could talk about Patreon stuff
- 12:45again. Yeah, if only we could. But it's against
- 12:49the law, right? It's a law, I think, written
- 12:52into the legal code of the United States Constitution.
- 12:55The tale of illicit butthole money is coming
- 12:59to a close. And Carl says that they need to go
- 13:02and find Ferdinand. And so they are leaving the
- 13:05safe room. and entering into Laracos City of
- 13:09Dreams. And they talk about how beautiful Laracos
- 13:12is and Carl does say it's like something out
- 13:16of a token novel which is something that I said
- 13:19earlier and I don't know if I really felt that
- 13:23way from the descriptions or if this was just
- 13:26subconsciously in my brain that Carl says it
- 13:29later and I can admit that. I do feel like there's
- 13:32a couple things that we've said in previous episodes
- 13:35and then as we've kind of come around to a later
- 13:38chapter, I was like, oh, was that my actual opinion
- 13:41or was that just in my brain because I had read
- 13:45it before? Yeah, it's always hard to know. But
- 13:47it says that they have crystal -like towers that
- 13:52are covered with flowers and that everything
- 13:55smells like flowers, even despite the flooding.
- 13:59Yeah, there's a bit of a musty smell because
- 14:01of the flooding, but it's overwhelmed with the
- 14:04smell of flowers. Yeah, but Carl is really blown
- 14:06over by it. So yeah, we get a lot of descriptions
- 14:09of the Rockos, what it looks like, how it's structured
- 14:13and everything. And it's beautiful, but not worth
- 14:16really breaking down all of those descriptions.
- 14:19They leave the safe room and Carl does note that
- 14:23it's not a true safe room. And I was wanting
- 14:27to know what the difference between a true safe
- 14:29room and not a true safe room is. I had to go
- 14:32and look this up, and what I'm referencing comes
- 14:34from Gate of the Feral Gods, Chapter 4. So not
- 14:38all bars are true safe rooms, and whenever they
- 14:41say something is not a true safe room, what that
- 14:43means is if the proprietor is not a babka, there's
- 14:48a 50 -50 chance it isn't a true safe room. If
- 14:51it's not a true safe room, certain NPCs will
- 14:55be safe. For example, if it's Mordecai, he would
- 14:57be safe. If there aren't any crawlers or former
- 15:00crawlers slash off -world NPCs, the room would
- 15:04probably be destroyed if it was attacked or a
- 15:07giant bomb went off outside of it. Regular NPCs
- 15:11won't be protected unless a crawler is in the
- 15:15safe room. We see that a lot of the NPCs are
- 15:19preparing to fight. At first, Carl thinks he's
- 15:21looking at these NPCs just kind of going about
- 15:23their daily lives, but upon closer inspection,
- 15:25he sees... dad teaching his son how to stab with
- 15:28the sword and then a woman repairing chain mail
- 15:31and so on. So you really see that the whole city
- 15:35is gearing up for the days to come. Yeah, and
- 15:38there's no protection for the city. And usually
- 15:41the city cannot be entered in the first rounds
- 15:45of fighting, but it is usually destroyed anyways,
- 15:48just because there's... spells they go off course
- 15:52they have artillery there's gods running around
- 15:55and then like you have like demon eviction events
- 15:58like all this stuff that's happening just around
- 16:00loracos during ramp up and open hostilities and
- 16:04like a lot of stuff just ends up basically falling
- 16:06into loracos yeah and it says when it was opened
- 16:09there would usually be two teams left who would
- 16:11fight their way to the castle And the NPCs would
- 16:15sometimes start to fight back at this point.
- 16:18But obviously, this is different because in this
- 16:23scenario, the NPCs are fighting back from the
- 16:25beginning. Right, which is a historical event,
- 16:28something that's never happened before. And Juicebox
- 16:31has been down here for a while now, so she's
- 16:33already awoken all the NPCs and recruited all
- 16:37of them into the army. And she's had... Just
- 16:40a really long time to prepare for the coming
- 16:42battles, which ends up putting the NPCs into
- 16:45a really solid, defendable position. Definitely,
- 16:49and the NPCs definitely save the Princess Posse
- 16:52pretty hard multiple times. And we find out that,
- 16:56really, Juicebox is underplaying the strength
- 17:02of the position that she's in in a multitude
- 17:05of different ways. has a bunch of different plays
- 17:09happening at any given time. And most people
- 17:12don't know about any of them. Yeah, it's great.
- 17:14Juicebox is one of my favorite characters. She
- 17:16is. She absolutely is. So what are we going into
- 17:19next? So Louis tells us that there were plays
- 17:23happening as part of the college, but they have
- 17:26stopped them to prepare for the war. And there
- 17:29are several restaurants you can eat in. But he
- 17:31also says that there are a lot of shops. But
- 17:35all the good shops were on the lower levels and
- 17:38they got destroyed. Good job, Carl. And that
- 17:42everything else was quickly bought up from the
- 17:45other stores. Yeah, so pretty much all that's
- 17:48left is just like boring, unenchanted clothing
- 17:51and such. This is then where we meet Arief, the
- 17:56Samaru dwarf. This is the first time we see one
- 17:59of these guys. And I'm glad that you're an audiobook
- 18:02listener because I would have had absolutely
- 18:04no idea how to pronounce that. Yes, Samaru. And
- 18:07he is described as being like a short and stout,
- 18:12like a regular dwarf. But that was pretty much
- 18:14where the similarities stopped. He's kind of
- 18:16samurai looking, has a bit of an Asian appearance
- 18:19and a bit of an Asian accent. Carl says maybe
- 18:22a bit like Tran and Li Jun, but not quite. Yeah,
- 18:26and one of the things that I think is so interesting
- 18:28is that There have been an advanced team on Earth
- 18:33for a long time that was learning Earth culture
- 18:35and Earth characters and like kind of common
- 18:39tropes that appear in Earth creatures. But also
- 18:43those people would know a lot of other things
- 18:46from the universe. So it's interesting that maybe
- 18:52there are some characters that are like obviously
- 18:54Kuatine. It's just like Carl can't see that.
- 18:56Right. Okay. I'm not sure. I see what you mean.
- 18:59Yeah, so I mean, like, we have our idea of what
- 19:02dwarves are, but maybe, like, Kuatine dwarves
- 19:04are, like, completely different. And maybe Carl
- 19:08meets one and doesn't realize, like, oh, this
- 19:12is what Naga think the dwarves look like. Right,
- 19:15and it is mentioned, yeah, I see your point.
- 19:17So it is also mentioned that while a lot of the
- 19:19dungeon is set up to kind of make sense. for
- 19:23the crawlers as far as what happens on Earth,
- 19:27their own lore and day -to -day lives and things
- 19:29like that. But then also a lot of things are
- 19:31catered to what the audience and the viewers
- 19:35would know and be familiar with. So there's definitely
- 19:37like a mix, a meshing of those two dynamics and
- 19:42realities. And it's super fascinating. Absolutely.
- 19:46Jonah is fascinated with his hat and she wants
- 19:50it immediately. She wants all hats. She does.
- 19:53They're all good additions to her collection.
- 19:56Unfortunately, she doesn't end up getting this
- 19:57one. His outfit is described as looking more
- 20:01like something that would go in a parade rather
- 20:03than into battle, but he's got some really good
- 20:06gear. Everything's enchanted, and Carl notes
- 20:08that his sickle -style sword is definitely very
- 20:12imposing. It is noted that he has a pretty harsh
- 20:16debuff on him called Despondent, and that's because...
- 20:20the goddess that the Samaro dwarves worship,
- 20:23Assaulti the Vinegar Bitch, was killed on the
- 20:25eighth floor. And that's going to be talked about
- 20:28a little bit more in a couple pages, but we get
- 20:32into a bit more description and background of
- 20:35the Samaro dwarves. Carl thought that they were
- 20:39all kind of described as drunk and stupid, but
- 20:41that's certainly not the impression he's getting
- 20:42here. No, and it is interesting that it notes
- 20:46since they are both officers, if he attacks him,
- 20:48it will automatically cancel their truce. Which
- 20:51is definitely an interesting but understandable
- 20:53mechanic. Like sometimes these things are mentioned
- 20:56and you're like, oh, maybe that's getting at
- 20:58something that's going to happen, but it never
- 20:59does. Yeah, and then Carl examines him and we
- 21:03get a lot of info dump from the AI. And the AI
- 21:08is like, in case you haven't figured. all this
- 21:10out yet. The whole fable with the Skolopendra
- 21:12levels is based on a fairy tale, but what is
- 21:15that fairy tale based on? I think it's pretty
- 21:17obvious, but sometimes you guys need a little
- 21:19push. I think I need a big push. Yeah, so I tried
- 21:22looking this up, and there are some fan theories,
- 21:26but it is actually noted by the AI somewhere
- 21:29else that the fairy tale it's based on doesn't
- 21:33have an actual Earth equivalent. So... This is
- 21:37a fairy tale that it's based on, but it's more
- 21:39on a galaxy -wide level that people outside of
- 21:43Earth would be familiar with, but people of Earth
- 21:45are not. Well, and I think what it's really supposed
- 21:48to be a metaphor for is the eulogist. Yeah, that
- 21:51is definitely a very strong theory, and I think
- 21:54makes the most sense is that it is referring
- 21:56to the eulogist or some kind of AI awakening
- 21:59taking over the galaxy, which is kind of what's
- 22:03happening. So I think it's interesting because
- 22:06I think there are some more Lord of the Rings
- 22:09illusions here in this fairy tale. So it talks
- 22:13about how the dwarves are digging because they
- 22:16think that they can meet their goddess. Become
- 22:20closer to her. And I want to say that the AI
- 22:23is being a bit contradictory here. And the AI
- 22:27says this too is new even to me. So it might
- 22:31be that the AI is still trying to understand
- 22:35this story. And we know from the book that he's
- 22:39still trying to understand what is going on with
- 22:42the eulogist. So that might be part of the metaphor.
- 22:44But basically, it says that in discovering the
- 22:49roots, they discovered that some things are best
- 22:53left alone. Some things should never be woken
- 22:56up. But it also says that when Scolopendra's
- 23:00nine -tier attack came, the Cimarru got the worst
- 23:03of it, but it wasn't their fault. And I think
- 23:08that a lot of our real -life myth or history
- 23:12is also kind of the same way, where there's not
- 23:16a definitive answer to what happened. And I think
- 23:21that's a little bit of the case in this story.
- 23:24Which is frustrating for us humans, but it's
- 23:26the way of things. It is. And the Samaro did,
- 23:29unfortunately, get the worst of it all. They
- 23:31were numbered in the millions before Skolopendra's
- 23:34nine -tier attack, and today there are less than
- 23:3610 ,000 of them. Isn't that pretty close to how
- 23:41many people were on Earth and then are now in
- 23:44the dungeon? Well, how many people entered the
- 23:46dungeon and how many people are left. Yeah, absolutely.
- 23:49And it does make sense that they got the worst
- 23:52of it all. because they were the lowest two or
- 23:56some of the lowest two skolopendra and like there
- 23:59couldn't be anything lower than this in the scale
- 24:02of the dungeon slash skolopendra levels yeah
- 24:05and this did remind me a little bit more of lord
- 24:08of the rings with the dwarfs where it says they
- 24:12awaken the balrog yeah they they mined too deep
- 24:15and they woke up the balrog right yeah so lots
- 24:18of literary allusions here. And then there, I'm
- 24:21not going to go into all of them, but there are
- 24:23also some real world earth mythology that Scolopendra
- 24:27can relate to. So there is actually a type of
- 24:31giant centipede that is the Scolopendra genus.
- 24:35There is a Japanese folklore that has some similarities
- 24:40to this, some Greek and Roman mythology of Scolopendra.
- 24:43It's a type of sea serpent or Cetus. And then
- 24:46there's some Egyptian mythology, which is a connection
- 24:50to Seppah, an Egyptian god depicted as a centipede.
- 24:53So there's a lot here that could have some inspiration
- 24:57that Matt was pulling from. But we definitely
- 25:00don't have any definitive ideas or opinions about
- 25:03that. No. I mean, just because something is maybe
- 25:08referencing it, it can just literally be where
- 25:12the idea came from, but doesn't actually have
- 25:14any significant parallels to that thing. Right.
- 25:18Yeah, definitely. Not everything is like it's
- 25:21like that joke of like your teacher wants you
- 25:25to think about, well, why did the poet say the
- 25:28room was blue or why did the author write and
- 25:30say the room was blue? Maybe sometimes the room
- 25:33is just blue. Hear that. Mm hmm. So let's see
- 25:35what's going on next. And then in this lovely
- 25:38description that the AI is giving, it's like,
- 25:41you know, the Samaru took it upon themselves
- 25:44to be keepers of. the city of the castle. Eventually
- 25:47people came back to the city and it started becoming
- 25:51a bustling place once again. And Arieoff here
- 25:53loves his home so much. It sure would be a travesty
- 25:57if something happened to the city. Who knew?
- 26:00It sure would be, wouldn't it? And here it actually
- 26:03does break down what the despondent debuff is.
- 26:05Honestly, we could have just covered this earlier,
- 26:07but it is a 15 % damage increase taken. For the
- 26:13afflicted and then an additional 10 % damage
- 26:17received increase for anyone who's attacking
- 26:19them who worships a deity, that's a pretty freaking
- 26:22rough debuff. And that would just be really bad
- 26:25for, let's say, if somehow Embrace died. Like,
- 26:29that would really, really suck for Carl. Yeah,
- 26:32definitely. But Carl mentions in this interaction
- 26:36that the dwarf calls himself an NPC and that
- 26:40he's never heard that before. And he has basically
- 26:43come out to meet them so that they can go meet
- 26:47with Juicebox. And then he also kind of drops
- 26:51the bomb of, Also, General Louie, I am glad you
- 26:55are present. Warlord Juicebox would like to solidify
- 26:57our great truce in the traditional manner. And
- 27:00everyone goes, oh shit. Absolutely. And that's
- 27:03where this chapter ends off. Thank you all again.
