- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: I hope y'all weeks been going well.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: I hope y'all had a good weekend.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: A commander's kicked off their mandatory mini camp.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: And the first day, every single time we reach a milestone, there is more reason to bring the optimism out, right?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for all of us on the fans side,
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: what this team could be.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: You get closer and closer to like dialing in on your certain like your favorite players or people that you've got hope for through these practice sessions, right?
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: And the many can't today for the first practice, I saw an event when he said they are practicing all three days.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: So there are no days of, I don't know what the third day's
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Because apparently, they don't always practice on the third days.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's like their family day, in essence.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Why is it not adding?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, Drake?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Drake's the second day for the audio side.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on with you both, man?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's good, right?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Happy to be here.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be talking about what's going on that they haven't this thought of many camp stuff.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm over here working like a slave on my day job and I just got done with the gym too.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I have been able to to pee quite a few things enough to have a conversation a day.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: because, you know, we ain't never unprepared.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to try for that.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I do think what I was saying right before you got in, like the optimism throughout the all season, like you get every, when you reach every single all season milestone, things become, you become a little bit more optimistic.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: This is just from a fan base perspective, not necessarily commander's fight solely, but at the same time,
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like with every milestone you reach and every practice you you have in the all season you start to keen on like those players that could be something something for for your team, but also like people that players that you had like optimism for.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we got that in the first mandatory many can practice I'm not.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: necessarily saying that I'm in that boat because there are some things that's like, you know, you don't want to take things with a grain of salt.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: But Dan Quinn, this speak today, Jerry.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the names that are buzzing, not just from Dan, but also like reporters,
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: good Lord.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: Ben Senate.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's how that's how.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Ben Senate.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think for Washington, what's interesting about Van Jefferson and how, so for those who are unaware, he was asked, Dan Quinn was, which non-Terry McCorme receiver has stood out and he mentioned Van Jefferson by name.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he was the only receiver, but he was one of the two receivers that was named by Dan.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: And Jerry, you know what I think is interesting?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: Van also spoke today.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: But you know what I think is interesting when I think about that.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, obviously, for him, um, I don't have super high expectations for a man's efforts, and but I do think it's interesting when people think about like who the player is, right?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like he is definitely reserve role, but like you're not looking at a person who's like that, that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: lower level basement dwelling wide receiver as a person who's played on so winning teams and has seen what like high competitive winning football looks like.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: Granny, he just came from the Titans.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, right?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, like he's played with the Rams for a couple years, right?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's where he got drafted.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: So like all these
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I think for Washington, uh, I don't know what a bench ever since season looks like.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not sitting here to have a net conversation right now.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what I do think is, uh, while people are surprised, the Antonio Williams or like a younger receiver.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_02]: that they made, that they made favor, wasn't mentioned by Dan Quinn, um, I do think this is the time, like the time of the year, where you would see a van Jefferson really show, show out, like in these periods because this is something that isn't, uh, he's not unfamiliar with, and he's super prepared, like this is something that's routine to him, and and I think if anything, the younger guys can take notes from him, especially during this time before the season starts.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, he's intern, year seven, van Jefferson.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: So why obviously he may never, he's not a star.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: We know that much.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: But he's a guy like you say him all he comes in prepared.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: He should be very experienced.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's been doing this for years.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: So training camps and mini camps, LTAs, all of this stuff, nothing new to him, you know, he.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny you mentioned him because I was listening, I mean, I, you know, I wasn't able to keep up with much of the many can news, but I was able to check out some of the band through the fans was having online and I saw one fan respond to a tweet about bad Jefferson he's like, the tweet I guess was crazy bad Jefferson said, Oh, man, you don't coach us that speaker highly up in the fan goes, I don't give a damn cut his ass before the season start.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: It is just going to show that fans don't care anything about, you know, you being unprepared, veteran, you being this that or that they're you being good for the organization.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: They only care that your name has to run a bill with them, you know, whatsoever.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: Especially I guess coming off the season, watching to head like you.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the season where you're watching Chris Moran, Robbie Chose, it and guys like that coming off the street half and the play games.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think fans, I mean, names like a van Jeff is a scarce fans, but the be honest with you, I think, you know, as much as we talk about the wire receiver position, you know,
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think the very least is why I received or roamed the floors of the race.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think you have a much higher floor than you had last year.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, last year was obviously weird and fluky with Terry going through his contract stuff.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's not playing around and, you know, he's not there for training camp and he's missing so much time throwing the rhythm off.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: They you have to rely on guys like a, um, you know, Chris Moore, Robby Chosen and those guys.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: But this year, I think it's going to be a little different.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you still may not be an up-of-the-être-long wide receiver ring.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I think at the very least, Jayda should have something to work with.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, then there may be an addition to that soon, but going back to a van Jefferson, I do think that maybe he is a little bit more valuable than fans may appreciate.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why you see the coach's staff's appreciation.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: That maybe he helps the younger guys, maybe he's valuable to an Antonio Williams.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not exactly sure, but do you know what's going on with him?
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: Is he practicing a self-ence complaining about him?
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: But what's up with Antonio Williams?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's practicing, and that's the reason why I bought him up.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think people were surprised that Dan Quinn didn't bring him up when he talked about non-Terry receivers.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for for Washington, it's so crazy.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: I was thinking of this before we started to show.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: from the the purview of like the the fan base uh and like a broad overview of your name gets called it's like that's my dog like that's the person I've been talking about this phone all season so it's like it's like a weird dichotomy or or and and I don't know I don't know like we're Antonio Williams is as a rookie and his development or anything like that but what I can say is
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: just because his name wasn't brought up by the coach and won't be brought up by the coach every single time you talk about the wild receiver position doesn't mean it's a red flag or you should be concerned like that's just the feed your ego or like your anx like to to resolve it or something
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I do think what was interesting is just actually hearing the fan base get concerned over it because it's like, you know, again, it's only mini camp and training camp hasn't even started.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with them.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: But I saw the same thing about his name and why they were talking about his name.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's, I mean, that's why I had to ask because again, I wasn't able to, like, I normally do catch up with the tweet set of times and whoever else is watching, but I was saying there was concern about it.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, damn, is there negative news about him?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Is he hurt?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what's going on and come to find out?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: It just sounds like a kind of routine offseason for a working wife or fever.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think fans kind of,
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: They even look at you in a, you know, the way that, okay, you're either Robbie chosen or you either Terry McLean to a fan, especially as a rookie, you know, if you're a rookie you're supposed to get the buzz that Terry McLean got when he came out in 2019 for his rookie year.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're a veteran that hasn't been a star, you're automatically Chris Moore, like there's no in-between with this fan base.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, but you have to give, you know, guys like Antonio Williams' time.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even West Walker, like again, I don't even know if this is an indication of how he's been playing or how he's been looking.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: But West Walker said, as a rookie, you have to give these white receivers time.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's a harder position to kind of translate into early success and elite than a lot of people want to make it out the beat.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: I know we've seen people do it but some of those those that have done it they're different like I mean we're talking about different different but that doesn't mean that you know an Antonio Williams or whoever else can't get to those levels of a wide receiver they just kind of develop at a different pace and who knows he may be looking good we're just not here in his name you know what I'm saying we don't know anything.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: in June that maybe if we start here and stuff and August that he's struggling to separate or he's struggling to get off the line, he's struggling a little bit of press.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: Then maybe you can start to have a little bit of concern creep up, but if we aren't here in India that I don't think just not here in his name is an indicator that he's not ready to contribute.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: Who do you have in the kicker competition?
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: Are you rooting for a particular person or
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm rooting, I'm rooting for the rookie.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: And reason I've been is because delay.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we heard so much about him having his strong leg.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we kind of know what Jake Moody is.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like we've seen Jake Moody, we've seen him at San Francisco.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen the foot of short time here.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he was decent here.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he wasn't bad.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was good enough to bring back for a competition.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: But he doesn't make me confident that when I cross the, or when I get past the 45 yard line,
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: that we can automatically say are we're going to walk away with three points here like we we got that kind of leg.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas the true steam is has that leg but we don't know if he has the accuracy of he's ready to be in a successful NFL kicker.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we say that because sometimes it takes kickers two or three destinations before they're actually ready to become what they're supposed to be in the lead.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm hoping they'll drop even if they start out here.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we're using that springboard for another team.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm hoping that, you know, this time we may have found the guy.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't been keeping up the kicker competition too much.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, recently I know early on.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was looking pretty good and they said he was making his kicks.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: But that's the guy I'm rooting for.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I had a, uh, Iowa fan.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I had made a tweet when we first signed Steven's, and I was like, yeah, you know, I hope you can adjust to the NFL hash marks.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I had an owl fan curse me out.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: He came on my images and he said, man, he can make 70 yards.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about?
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, dude, it's the NFL.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen great college kickers struggle every time.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like, all the time when they come to the NFL, like, it's not an easy transition, but I am rooting for him to make that transition pretty early.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Because like I said,
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: I brother, they I get obsessed about a college kicker that's leaving my favorite college team to go to the pro's Burr.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder what he does like what's his day job bro?
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I've seen some of my team like Sebastian Jenna Kawoski I mean we've had some kickers that flow to state so I don't care about them when they get to the pro's
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I bring them because when you talk about, we haven't talked about the kick competition honestly at all, um, in these all season, workout slash practices, um, but John Kyle mentioned today that there was a six field go kicks from both moody and Drew Stevens.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: Moody went four, six on his field goals and Drew Stevens made all six of his here we go on on his field goals And what I think is interesting like you mentioned that 45 yard line part right.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: Um moody made a 55 yarder and one of the last OTA practices and I don't know what it looked like they said he made it
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't know if it looked like it struggled to get there.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you have plenty of late.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know any of like the contents behind the May feel vote, but what I do think is interesting about like how you say that is like if your kicker has a leg that's your confident.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, accuracy is important, but it's like the risk and reward part like being here and risk if you have a person that you think.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and Drew, and this me, it's not like, not that, but like, if you think Drew has the leg, but you're not necessarily sure if he's there with the accuracy, like, do you take a chance on like letting him develop it because you know he has a leg or do you risk putting him in situations where you're not too confident he going to make that well for good, but like, and it comes down like a win or loss.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, we got him on the mob and I made a decision to keep him over Jake Moody.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: I got to rock, I got to rock out.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what that answer looks like, but I think the ability to have a little bit of confidence in your special teams like once you reach that 45-yard line could really be the deciding factor.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, come training against the kick with what they do, who was the kick that we had before Moody last year that Adam Pius, you could tell he didn't want to cut him, but thank us all.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, thank you so much before, right, tomorrow before you, before Jake Moody, before Jake Moody, we signed the guy, because we signed Jake Moody, I believe, Missy.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's all right.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know why I'm like, you know, the baby, but he got cut like me as season.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I'm sorry.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Gay.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the Rams kicker and because we got moody from Chicago, I think she beat us.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Moody beat us when he was with Chicago.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: He, he didn't even when it feel good.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, you know, Matt Gay, man, that was my whole point of Drew Stevens.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they're not patient with kickers.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and that's the thing, he's gonna have to show he can make those kicks early.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: because if he starts missing some early day or not going to be able to trust them and we no kids get the yips so he missed one or two early on they started missing a little bit more they're getting their own heads so hopefully that's not the case with his team so I'm rooting for him right the second mad gig I think they cut his hands out of his breath
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: And sign this man to a fully guaranteed deal like I like you talk about it you talk about the situation We're Zane y'all Zane took y'all into the playoffs.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Hell you down into playoffs.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, low OCD.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: So what you know everybody get a little kid hell for me, bro Yellow OCD and they got nervous, bro, like come on like I land rock out
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he weighed that here about a hundred times before you kick a feel go took some salt enough and what if you did that after the snap to Scored about the dance dude
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: They're in a play or a suit at the end.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: Same, Brad.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so that's the kicker conversation.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is something.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we all noticed.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: And while we're not going to spend 30 minutes on a conversation like this, this is definitely something that we're all interested in.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: Washington needs to have that stability there at the very least, and having a long time, just like some other positions.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's all that important.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: Ben Sin is named pop today and I think one thing that John Kahn mentioned is like one pass that he had was over the middle of the field.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: And while I would have to, like, rehash exactly like his target last year, but from cons perspective, you know, you really see him in those situations where he like he's over to, you know what I do remember it, because like all his passes were in the flat.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he had a lot of passes, like we just jets out, more he's sifting out of the back heel.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: So like I get it.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, then send it pop with a couple of good catches today, moments
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I am, I'm interested in seeing, and we had this conversation last week about deciding room overall.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is going to be a system that elevates or raises the floor.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't know what that rotation or that snap count was going to look like with baits in it in a conco, like who's going to be that number two, especially in the past game.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, I don't know what it's going to look like.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but I also think that does impact.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's the part of the conversation we didn't have.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: I also think whoever they feel like is that number two, where I receive that number two pass catching threat at tight end, uh, that also is an impact like whether it's been or based who has the increase in production, um, but I mean, I guess for those who are fans that been sent it.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: So good start.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I'll be disappointed if Ben Senate can't get that look as a past catch and tight in number two in the system.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Because I mean, we know what John Bakes is.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen John Bates throughout the course of his career.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: And at this point, we know that John Bates is best as a in-line block and tight in.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas Ben Senate now, you have to show what your role is.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: And this is you three.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, you can cut the gossip slack in year one.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Then you don't see flashes a year, too.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's when you really start to doubt.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Is this guy going to be anything in the lead?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I know there were doubts from the get go about Benson.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: I know more for you for one.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: You and AJ, both.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, both had doubts from him day one.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah, what was it, Jordan really?
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think we had it in his show.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: And he was like, bring him the Senate pick and all that and whatever.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, three now, if this guy can't at the very least grab the Titan pass catch and Titan number two spot on the team.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's it.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: What is his role that we're going to be in NFL?
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, it's good to hear that he's doing something.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: You want to hear it at least.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's better to hear and it than not hear anything about Ben Senator at this point.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: But you do want to see him start their car about his role, whatever that role is going to be in NFL.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to be interesting to see how Ben Johnson, you know, I mean, I don't know why I've called him Ben Johnson.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: We always compare him to Ben Johnson.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: But David Blow is going to be interesting to see with David Blow, how
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: I want to make sure that I'm still here.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: That boy, that boy, Jerry probably just froze.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: All right, yeah, he froze.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: I just make sure, to Ben's Senate, I think utilization is all, it's definitely going to be important.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: But not just Ben, I think when you look at,
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: My bad, when you look at Antonio, Antonio Williams, like there's certain players, I mean, even Terry, I'm like, even Terry, there's gonna be certain players where you kind of have to like, hope this scheme does them just as like put them in position where they can actually showcase their athletic ability or their best treats at the position that they play.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm cool with like,
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: Anybody that succeeds on the team is ultimately a person and I will be okay with saying either I'm happy I was wrong or like that's my doubt and this is not gonna be back tracking, by the way.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: I still feel the way I feel, but I also am not naive or like hesitant to acknowledge like a scheme can really elevate a player's game and elevate a player's production.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: And all it's in 80% of the time or even 70% of the time I would say, like the marriage between a player and a coaches scheme and like all of that.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: is like, you got a really straight goal.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there are some people like, think about it for the people that's my age or even older.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: Not be awesome, why?
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's one of the easiest examples ever.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: He had it made in Oakland.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: Shut down corner, dog ass corner.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think he had a couple of all pro honors playing on the left side.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: And on the Raiders secondary.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then he goes to Philly, whole, whole different scheme.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: And him, I think at one point had him following, but I think mostly on the opposite side that he played in Oakland, he can cook.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: He can cook.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: He took the money.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: You don't blame him for taking the money, but it's the scheme fit, the coaching, all that stuff.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for a person like Ben, let's take another player that's struggled.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, you can go to Luke McAfrey.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: You can go to Quam Martin, you can't go to these hats of moments where you look okay, but it's over.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like last year, it's kind of watched it all the way.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: Quam Martin, Mike Sanders did all the controversial, but also big name players for Washington.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like scheme wise, if you meet your match, like in the best way possible for one of those younger players,
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that can revive your career and change this trajectory of it.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: So then, like I said, like the cover days ago, best of luck to you.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I, that's the luck of Denver.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and I think, honestly, his success is critical to Washington success because they can use as many playmakers as they can get.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, especially when they don't have an additional one B or two A at wide receiver, and we're not going down that lane.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: Even though days got cleared legally, um, and
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: There was a report today on the other receiver who they said may begin release sooner than we expect.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: But we're still a few weeks out.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think one thing that we got to answer on today as well was Bill Crosskey married.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: He was practicing.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I think everybody, they said everybody except for the people who are like the serious injuries and the serious and sees and injuries last year, I think it was only four players who didn't practice, but everybody was practice.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: Bill was practicing.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for us on this side, we kind of had this conversation last week.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's reiterate it one more time.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how to describe it.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's important that Bill follows up his rookie season with another banker.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think Bill isn't in trouble, but I do think as long as that window is open,
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: He still can't play all three downs.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: He can't play and he's not a dual threat running back.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll stand on the fact that you don't need to be dual threat in NFL.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to have that true number one back.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'll come maybe works just fine.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: But you do want an upper edge and a lot running back.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: You need that to be successful.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because I really, you only, you only really want to use a strong, too.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: Right, you don't need to be using three.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: You need a strong, too, and Washington has six.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: K-tron, Bill, Versailles, Jeremy.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: The undrafted, undrafted, do.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot his name.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: But they like them and then do from the browns That's a strong six your own for it.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's a strong six All of them again touches and everybody ain't making a practice club Probably get one running back that make the practice club
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying, again, I'm not saying Bill again, cut I think it's important for Bill to show up this all season to show up and training camp.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you have to stand on the season that you had last year.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like it wasn't a flu.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't because people were hurt.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't for all of these extra existential circumstances.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't because of these external factors.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was all because you was a dog.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I think ultimately that's what can help make his case that he can be trusted beyond like just those running down.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: Jerry, when you...
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wife, I'm damned out of me.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're using the middle of the song and the edge as you're eyes looking up where a mouth Like your conversation me flow.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: I had to check the chat make sure I was still here.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, yo, what?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, you like that.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but Bill, and I was just wrapping up anyways, so you got the, you got the floor on Bill, but I was, I was talking about how Bill was back in practice.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I know we had a conversation about the run-and-back run last week, but I think it's important that we kind of follow the story line.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be one of the bigger competitions in the training camp.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: You got six running backs in your room.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: And ideally, any team will really just want to deal with having two running backs, carry the load in the actual regular season, right?
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: Moffey Salaries.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: Ideally that's what you want.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's nothing wrong with a committee, but the most important thing for Washington is figuring out who can be the one that talks like and who can be the one that is a very good spell back.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's important for bills to show up this this season again and show that like last year wasn't a fluke.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't because of external factors.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was all because he was a dog wasn't because of injuries, nothing like that.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: and like that progression has to continue.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_02]: You have Bill, Kateron, Rashad, Jerome Ford, the undractive rookie.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was the sixth I named.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Jeremy Minidos, you named it.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, Nick was, yeah, that was the sixth.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but to that point, that's that's what I said, like that's a crowded run the back room and like five of those guys are good enough to get touches.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: So who rises to the crop and I think I mean, who rises to the top and I think Bill is in that that room where it's like, can you continue to elevate your game or do you kind of get stuck in the wash with the rest of these guys.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: probably a couple of other opportunities that may have been missed that he could have did last year.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: But we've seen it.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: So you hope that he's the guy that can kind of take it run with it.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: But you think from a team building standpoint, the Adam Peters and staff, they went out there and he had to kind of crowd that run it back from the find a guy.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't know how high a Jeremiah love was when they drafted him with their picture in my love, but they didn't get a Jeremiah love.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: But what they did was crowd there running back room.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: It says, somebody has to go out there and get it.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have a lot of good in that room.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you have any great in the room.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you have any corner stone running back piece that's going to be here for a few years in that room.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: But Bill can be that guy.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's still young enough.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: He had one really good year in his work a year.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was a very successful sever for our pick.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: If you're counting production and what they brought to the team.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now, can he take that next step for Bill?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: He has to prove that he can kind of take the pound and, you know, Paul's.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: We have to prove that he can kind of take that pound and run between the tackles and net so much kind of go out with, you know, a little injury here, or a little injury here, like he's going to have to be able to play 17 games in a season or something at least close to it and he's going to have to be consistent.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: He kind of a wall there here in his work year.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's a bunch of factors that just own Bill.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's some issues with the block and in the machine or the running, you know, Cliff Keene's very whatever you want to kind of blame it on.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: But there was a wall there.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: So you want to see some consistency throughout you in this we're also David Blau.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: David Blau comes in a play like, is David Blau going to be able to create a scheme that's running back friendly?
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: We know Cliff was a really into the ranking like that.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: He had good run designs, but the ranking was not really Cliff's thing.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: So as David Blau's scheme, going to be run friendly.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: Bill is going to be that guy can build, you know, take over and be a 20 carry a guy game.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't, I don't think what we know of Bill last year that he was a 20 carry a guy game.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: But can he be that this year?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, you are going to be a committee thing.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a white.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a K-Tron Allen.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a bill kind of tossed in there.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not sure of that something that's going to be successful throughout the season.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: I do think this team needs a guy that's going to have to take over.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I do hope it's built.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to with the fan base things.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be too surprised if everybody thinks, or assuming everybody wants it to be bill.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: And honestly, there's nothing wrong there.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like I actually wanted to be bill.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: You talk about a six or seven rounds draft paper, and we're talking about a person who got close to a thousand yards last year.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: So Tyler said running back.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then honestly, he probably would have been drafted higher if his situation didn't go down the way he did in college.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: to mottie's point, mottie said he thinks they keep for.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they keep for I mean honestly, they can keep three two like one or the other, but you know, we'll see.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't think they're going to do as much as they say they look competition.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're going to do the cater on.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I think they keep for.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think they keep for.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we'll see how that goes.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: And it's something to keep our eye on.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: Um, trenches, defensive line offensive line.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to really gauge a solid the mark bullet.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: He tried to have a conversation about the left guard position battle Chris Paul Brandon Coleman.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: Who knows what that's going to look like right now.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but I don't really put no stock into the trenches conversation just yet on the off the strength of like pads, um, hard to have evaluations like that.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, I'm staying away from certain topics right now, um, we did talk about Tyler on this last thing.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_02]: Tyler ons, we don't need to have a real conversation about him, but like, like, he's played this slide.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: But like I wonder if, and he may not know, I think about it.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: He may just be playing in the slide for the Rante Jones while I stay a listed at safety.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, that's the thing.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: We talk about tremors being down for now.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: But like, those, that cornerback position, um, you got,
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, a meek and, and, and, and Mike, and they both under six, they are being both under five ten.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yes.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, wish one of these is going to play the slot and like, if one of them do end up playing their full time, like, is all of this title on this conversation does it just get put to bed because like, I don't see.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see a place where he gets significant playing time.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Um,
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: when, when like that train ammo situation gets figured out.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's kind of my thought I'll leave it there.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I don't know if you had any thoughts on like how they're going to do that slot row or if they're just waiting on a train must get healthy.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, it is interesting.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they're trying different guys at the slot because I would imagine when Tray Amos is healthy that Amit Robinson slides over to the slot.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's just the subject because that's what he played in Detroit.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Mikey hasn't had success in a slot.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: Since he's been in Washington.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he wasn't good last year in a slot or outside, but if you had to put a mini-bird to say, he's had success in NFL so far as been the outside.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: The good guess is a meat, maybe Tyler Owens is kind of looked at, maybe they're trying him out as a backup because you're going to need a backup.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: You need death at certain spots.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: But it's interesting because I don't know how much he's lining up or where he's lining up when you talk about the safety rotation.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Man, no, we got Nick Cross, you still have quam Martin, you got Jeremy Reeves, you know, the safety spot.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: And that is interesting, you know, because you wonder if the position to change at this point.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what is the plan for a Tala Owens?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: And how long is trail aim most going to be out for?
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I do know that injury is what's significant.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: But it will be.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: good to kind of start and know and what we stand as far as alignment scope.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it was going to be lying in that way.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: So it's interesting.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the art trying to find a role for talent.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: It was at this point, but it it does say to me that they probably do see some versatility there.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you're moving a safety that we thought was pretty much just a safety, you can go out and play this lot position.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: Is he the definition of what we call the training camp all star or all season all star is that because that is a label form right now you got tailored Jacob's he's been a off season star I mean, it was like one of the first ones and what was my boy Jimmy more than the people
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: Jimmy had a good season.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: I still don't know why they wow, wow, wrong guy rid of him.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: That was the crazy thing.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: That part too.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: He feels without the lead pretty quickly after that.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, no, but Tyler almost has been that for a while.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like since he was a rookie, we've been hearing about Tyler, what was named in the summers since he was a rookie.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: We just haven't seen it in, you know, the fall.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: You were a free athlete,
- 40:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know where.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: I like the vision.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: I like the vision of the Rotate Joe's.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he sees something there.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, Hey, man, just got to play a little slots.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: Monty right though, a person can stay on a team.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: So can time go on.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Percy to be fed a Percy.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: He is pretty damn good on special teams.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, he's a gutter on.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I've been saying there.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm I'm I'm with you, but I ain't going.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't going.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: I want about to put up a fight against Monty like a lot of people don't Monty I feel you we don't like when person I'm going to build out their lineup in the 11's on defense But as a gunner, I'm going to flick the five with a person by the
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fine with a bit of a road.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: My name is James.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: My name is James.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to see something and that's the thing mode it has to change this year.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: We have to start turning the ball over like this defense has not created turnovers And that's very shocking from a dank wind defense like that's what you hope at the rote jell's kind of ring to the steam and the Reality to defense you have to start creating turnovers.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's what gets this team You know even a bad defense if you can create turnovers You can be a successful scene.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Look at the bears.
