- 0:00Alan Carroll: My name is Alan Carroll and I will be your host on The mindful you podcast. A little bit about my background, my education, psychology. I chose psychology after reading a book, memories, dreams and reflections, Autobiography of Carl Jung. I had the wonderful opportunity of spending my junior year abroad in Paris. And I recall reading the book and I said to myself, I like this conversation on the inner journey. It appealed to me. And I went back to school. My junior senior year I majored in psychology, I got my degrees in psychology. And I practiced educational psychology in the public schools for about five years in California. And I had a wonderful location that I got to practice. Schools psychology, San Lorenzo Valley, Santa Cruz, California. Beautiful, lived in Los Gatos drove across the redwood forest each day. And I got to go up and down the San Lorenzo Valley, and work with the children and parents and the students. Went over from the psychology I went into Apple did some apple distributorship. Um, so I'm an Apple fan. from Apple, I went to the Digital Equipment Corporation, because they wanted somebody that had knowledge of the retail side of computers. And I had spent a year two years at the retail store selling apples. And so I spent 10 years at Digital Equipment Corporation. And because I was interested in the soft skills, I ended up teaching my favorite, favorite, by all means class, effective presentations. Where did I learn about effective presentations, I learned about effective presentations from a gentleman who lived in San Francisco, and name was Warner Earhart. And he founded the best training, and I went to the s training and it just blew my mind. It was just a wonderful experience of seeing things and discovering things that really helped me better navigate my own life. Number one was understanding about responsibility for the way you create your reality. And that was like, I'm responsible for that, huh? All right. Now planted that responsibility. See, I spent 10 years at Digital Equipment Corporation, and then left Dec Dec. imploded, large second largest computer corporation in the world just imploded laid off 100,000 200,000 people. However, it was really beneficial for me, because the very last day at Digital Equipment cooperation, the telephone rang, Mary Heartland was on the line. She worked for Symantec Corporation, she said, Alan, I'd like you to come to Symantec and teach that class. Teach that effective presentation class that you taught at DEC. For 10 years. So I said, Cool. I did that. And I started Alan Carroll and Associates. So here we are. 3540 years later. Alan Cowell Associates is now mindfulness and action. What are the things that we learned on the stage of public speaking, that will transform not only your ability to speak, but also accelerate you down that path of mindfulness? And for the last 35 years, I've traveled the world. Over 60 countries, 1000s of students, all different levels within the organization. Looking at how can we support people to become a powerful, professional speaker. What's the secret sauce? Is there a secret sauce? Yes, there's a secret sauce. And so I've spent the last period of time with my family and my team going around the world, major corporations, showing them this secret sauce. And when you taste the secret sauce, it transforms your experience. And that is wonderful to be able to share that with people. And in the second part of the introduction that I'm doing now, I'll talk about the secret sauce, I'll share with you the secret sauce. And so that you can begin to taste that transformational experience for yourself. And that would be a joy for me to be able to share that with you. And the purpose of the podcast is to find other people who have their secret sauce and have them share their secret sauce with us. And I think that's a wonderful opportunity. Sounds like a lot of fun to be able to meet people and to be able to taste. Be able to teach the spirit be able to taste the the bliss and the joy that comes with that transcending that ego state of consciousness and move over to a wider experience of a transcendent state of consciousness called mindfulness. And that's the purpose of our conversations on the mindful you podcast. Thank you very much.
