- 2:40[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know why are you about this no more, but I can't help it.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_05]: Like I can't let it go.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_06]: Well, that's what I got to mention.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_06]: by a good Twitter friend of ours about something some shit you was getting to today.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know what it was exactly, but on the on the on the Traver dive Twitter chat, Twitter page, you was in a three at about the defense or some shit and I'm at Minnesota behind my bed
- 3:20[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, what's cause what's cause every call to you uh, call to you Kevin Sheen is the Cypler and my biggest hitter man.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, the biggest hitter bro.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_06]: Um, but yeah, Kevin Sheen's going to be joining us.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, second half of the show today.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_06]: So we get a shot up with him.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, checking when it's been a little minute.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_06]: So see what he's thinking.

- 3:42[SPEAKER_06]: Um,
- 3:44[SPEAKER_06]: No, I ain't no huddle-wings, HA's here now.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_06]: I ain't no F, I ain't no F, that's what you need to be, what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to be what you need to
- 4:07[SPEAKER_04]: What's that, Adrian?
- 4:08[SPEAKER_04]: It's better, it's better to be late than never.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's the part of it.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_06]: That's the part of it.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_06]: That's the part of it.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_06]: This is a, this is a product that we are presenting to the people, bro.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_06]: And you talking about being late.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_06]: It's okay.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_06]: That's the people.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_05]: AJ said, punctuality is not his thing.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_06]: That's terrible.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_06]: I need to start telling him the show started 630 then.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: I'm African, I can't help it.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah, I can't help it.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_06]: And not only are you late, where you are 90% of the time your camera's over.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_06]: And like, I don't even know how I'd be just letting this just slide.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_05]: like what's up better to be late for nervous is better to be being treated Jews.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_06]: You guys give me a chance of coming from around.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_06]: Let me do a check out.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_06]: Everywhere but like a station where we can get a decent a decent show bro.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_05]: We we went to the angel.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: We were you were you at bro.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_04]: Because you're camera.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm in the crib.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm in the crib.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm behind on making dinner.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like I'm trying to
- 5:19[SPEAKER_04]: Finish it all up and then get on camera.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_04]: So y'all can see my handsome face.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_06]: Hey, look, bro You can't you Dave All right, man Hey, baby Hey, bro, all right.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_06]: This is hilarious, but not the way I expected to start to show my Hey, so get your shit together, bro
- 5:44[SPEAKER_06]: get it together.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_06]: Get it together.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_06]: All right, let's get into it.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_06]: Or is that Drake?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_06]: You were talking.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_06]: It's been a weird week.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_06]: And I say weird, not from the sense of like it's unusual, but I think like these
- 6:06[SPEAKER_06]: And maybe we did it last year too, and I'm sure we did, right?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_06]: I know we've done it pre- like in the years past, but last year, I'm pretty sure I don't really remember it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_06]: Exactly.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_06]: But it's like, it's only four games in.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_06]: And maybe like the expectations, now I would not excuse the defensive outing and the concerns, right?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_06]: But what I will acknowledge is still early.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_06]: I do think if they don't fix these problems, defensively, this is going to be a long season, right?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_06]: But I do think if the offense can ever get into a groove because they ain't there yet, let's go over a little bit.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_06]: If they ever get into a groove, offensively, like finding their way was look like last year, I think that you're always going to have a chance to win.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_06]: You're always going to have a chance to win any game
- 7:01[SPEAKER_06]: But I think with these four games, it's been so scary in the way it was to lost, right?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_06]: Those two games, like the opposing team, like literally had the same formula, but they also came out in a sense of where, you know, you immediately knew who was the team that was prepared and ready to look some of my ass.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_06]: It was always Washington behind April.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_06]: So I get fans concerned for games in and I understand why those two losses like hold a lot of weight, right?
- 7:41[SPEAKER_06]: But I also think that we got to kind of understand where they are right now in the season.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_06]: And while I'm concerned, and I'm kind of actually leading into your conversation, whatever it is you had on Twitter, I want you to introduce it.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_06]: I'm concerned, I'm not naive to like the defensive problems, right?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_06]: But I'm also like,
- 8:08[SPEAKER_06]: how much time, I think they have a little bit more time to get things together on that side of the ball before it, like we literally have to face the music.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_05]: If that makes sense, I mean, yeah, we are in week four.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_05]: But that's what we can talk about right now is what we see what what was our expectations before this season.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_05]: We all got on here what we predicted what 12 when I said 10, 10 something.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but you would you would it's fair to say that all of us on here.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_05]: but the biggest thing to help you back last year and what you saw against the Eagles, the defense let you down.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_05]: You gave a 55 points to the Eagles, and it was a recurring thing throughout last season when your offense had to go and shoot out and Jane and Daniels had to put the hero cape on every game.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_05]: Now, we didn't go into the season expect that a top five defense.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_05]: Like at least I didn't go into the season expecting a top five defense.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_05]: I'd spend a deep as to be better in any world as you.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_05]: Now, you know, how much better who knows, but I'm content with seeing a top 15 defense somewhere around and maybe top 18, maybe even top 20, because I feel like with this office, they can make up for, you know, a top 18, a top 20 defense.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_05]: You're gonna get the better of teams if you got the better office and those type of games.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_05]: But if you're a team that's given teams, you're the 30 second or right team and given teams time to throw, you're seeing the same issues from last year.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_05]: And here Mike Sanford still come out and say we're not communicating well, we're not, we're not, we're not doing those things on the back end, that was what I heard last year, so if I'm here and these things and I'm seeing these things, I'm seeing the busted coverage is now imagine I'm not absolving the players.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, the players have to play better.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_05]: But if I'm seeing the same issues that I've seen last year, and I'm seeing these issues glaringly against good teams this year, teams that you may face in the playoffs this year.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_05]: If I'm seeing that constantly, what gives me confidence that this defense is going to be any better throughout the season?
- 10:16[SPEAKER_05]: Like what gives me confidence that this team's going to get to, where we all expected them to kind of get to this season?
- 10:22[SPEAKER_05]: That's my whole point.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_05]: Because right now, I'm looking at the office, like you have to be perfect every time you go out there and play.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_05]: And if you're not perfect, then you're gonna lose.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_05]: You make it blown out.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_05]: You know, so that's my issue, and I'm like, what's the fix?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_05]: That's what I'm gonna argue about on Twitter mall.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_05]: If you've been, I don't know what you've seen, you know, what thread is going to point it out to you.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_05]: I just got a notification.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but my thing is what's the fix?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_05]: Because as we've said before,
- 10:50[SPEAKER_05]: We're not, we're not, no one's coming in here to save the defense.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_05]: Personnel wise, I don't think you're gonna make a trade this year like you made last year with a Martial Lattermore.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_05]: But as you need to get younger, we keep talking about, we got these old players, these old players, this that, old players that, you're not making a trade for another veteran.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_05]: You have to keep those pictures, you have to get younger.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_05]: So that's not happening this year.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_05]: You're not gonna see that Martial Lattermore type trade, which by the way hasn't looked like his work so far to this point.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_05]: You know, and that's all that I'm Peter.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_05]: So if we want to talk about who we're on a finger who to blame.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_05]: So at the end of the day, how does this defense get better?
- 11:23[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm relying on the people who get paid a lot of money to make these decisions.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_05]: I'm relying on Dan Clinton.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_05]: I'm relying on Joe Witt, Jason Simmons, you know, all any of these guys I'm involved with the defense and coordinating the defense and coming up with the game plans.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_05]: I'm relying on all of these guys because they have to, you may not be able to put a top five defense out there.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_05]: But I'm gonna need you to at least come out and put something better than what you've shown against the two good teams to two face.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_05]: Because you look good against teams that are gonna be anywhere near the playoffs like the Jacks, the Raider.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_05]: You look good against those teams.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_05]: But when you wanna against the Packers, when you wanna against the Hopkins, you didn't show anything you show alarming results.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_05]: Your defense did.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_05]: So what's the fix?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_05]: That's my whole point.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Jay Tissing, you of all people, you got some all day, I said, I expect that much better from you to not post this misleading as comment and for those of us to the podcast.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_06]: He said, Nikki, Nikki Javala posted the defensive numbers through the first four games of this year versus last year.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_06]: If you are watching, I just showed it.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_06]: I saw it as well and he said that they are actually better
- 12:41[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, to what degree, like it ain't, it ain't significantly better.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_06]: Um, like the, the, the glant like they're still bottom third in the league and, and almost everything except for third down.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_06]: third down percentage.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_06]: And obviously sex, but last year, eight sex would have had, I mean, excuse me, uh, eight last year, eight sex was bottom third in the NFL.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_06]: This year they have 10.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_06]: And that's top 12.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_06]: So I think that's just a circumstance circumstance was that based on how the league is going this year.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and they're better in the red zone, but uh, like, it's not like they're a top 10 or top five defensive unit in the red zone either.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_06]: Um, I think there's one thing that we can say for sure, if you watch state, um, or if you even just like really have an idea of what defensive fronts look like, yes, they are better and against run.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_06]: Like that is like you can look at it and it's they are tangibly better against the run and they have been that good against the run in all four
- 13:44[SPEAKER_06]: Outside of that, they're supposed to place their bottom for their bottom 14, both years.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_06]: It's turnovers, they're a bottom 14 in both years, yards, they're both, they're 24th or lower, 24th and 27th of last year.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_06]: Ironically enough,
- 14:06[SPEAKER_06]: they can't get off the field this year and last year, it was good in time of possession in terms of controlling the clock or getting off the field.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_06]: Um, maybe it was just because they was giving up the most of the plays.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_06]: They was just getting off the field because they was getting up touchdowns quicker.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_06]: Um, so I just think, um, when you think about this team, uh, 100% understand and I don't disagree with you, uh, Jerry.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, I think there's one big thing that we can, we can, we can,
- 14:34[SPEAKER_06]: really even acknowledge even if they were struggling to some extent or to this nature.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_06]: If you were taking them, uh, getting the takeaways, you'd have way more leniency from everybody that's watching this team or that's that's concerned with the team from a reporter, a staff, an analyst, podcasters.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_06]: If you were a top 10 takeaway team,
- 15:01[SPEAKER_06]: that we can tolerate this if you are finding the way to get your ball back to the offense multiple times a game.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_06]: And I think when you look at this team, bro.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_06]: I understand that, you know, there's several different areas of concern from the second level to the third level.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_06]: I also think what's interesting is I looked at when I looked at when I was able to look at it, it's been a busy week, Brad.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_06]: Side note, Drake, we are on for a low watch you and I and it's been a busy day today.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_06]: It's been a busy day yesterday.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_06]: So the film that I
- 15:42[SPEAKER_06]: Like the past race, like one of my getting home, Brad, I saw something that you said, or something that you quoted online, Jerry about the comment from, I think it was Dan Quinn, talking about, he wished they would have stunned it more.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think that's an indictment on anybody, but I do think like a single, let me be clear.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_06]: I think it's an indictment of the game playing in the flow of the game, the game calls, the defensive calls,
- 16:10[SPEAKER_06]: But I don't think that's the indictment of the person.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_06]: I think he just lost himself in the game, if that makes sense.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_06]: But to that point, like you clearly saw the inability to get home, to make pennies uncomfortable.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_06]: And when he was dropping back, and I think it impacted the first second and third level, you had no winners up front.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_06]: And I think as much as we talk about the coverage, like the coverage was bad.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_06]: And what really has been a problem for me,
- 16:40[SPEAKER_06]: and Adia, I give it to you after this, the two we specifically is, and everybody should notice, but the longer the more time that they have back there to throw, the easier it is to bust the coverage.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_06]: When you ain't getting home, like last week, they was just missing the quarterback.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_06]: They got hands on Geno and Geno broke out of like three or four extra sex.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_06]: Big place happened right after that.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_06]: This week, pennies, I didn't even like test it or pressure it in a sense, right?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_06]: But at this time, you're talking about three plus seconds.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_06]: Granted, you would expect your cornerbacks to have better eye control, eye discipline, and that was the clear problem on that third level.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_06]: But at the same time, you would hope that
- 17:21[SPEAKER_06]: these guys when they are passed rushing like somebody has to win and these last two weeks really good against Vegas could have been much better this week not even close to what you were against Vegas and like it really paid off in the worst way for you and it's so many different ways so that's kind of another thing I think about takeaways and that past rest that's hurt that's hurt these guys this week.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's kind of interesting to hear Dan Quinn mentioned, you know, the lack of a stunning motive wanted to see that more.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, stunt force, office of line was a jailer than just like on the back there with the secondary on the defensive side.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_04]: And he's right, Washington didn't force a land as office of line, which is in shambles.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_04]: They lost their best office of line meant to necessarily communicate when you don't have a guy that can can beat.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_04]: If you don't have guys that can beat their man one-on-one on a regular basis, you have to stunt in order to cause that confusion and create some type of pressure.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just unfortunate that that wasn't a part of the game plan.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's what really got Michael Pentex rattled against the Carolina Panthers, where they scored zero points the week before.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_04]: So to come in and have them throw for 300 plus yards, I think it was a career high and be able to put up 30 points.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_04]: it is insane, but I also just think that there's so many different concerns with this defense.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think we thought that they would be a little bit better, not necessarily getting home to the quarterback, but more so being able to create these turnovers, which is really
- 19:05[SPEAKER_04]: the main foundation of a Dan Quinn Joe with junior style type of defense, which is created and turnovers of flipping the field to give the offense more chance to be able to put up six, seven points or even get some fill goals and they haven't been able to do that because things are wide open like so you're not going to create these turnovers at a high clip.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_04]: I mean you have one turnover for the season.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_04]: in four games.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't even like to talk about rankings and numbers of where a team is as far as, like, so early in the season.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's four games in.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_04]: What numbers can I really base that off of when you have such a long season?
- 19:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, to talk about numbers and rankings makes no sense.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_04]: Is this...
- 19:51[SPEAKER_04]: This seems it's got to do better, you know?
- 19:53[SPEAKER_04]: There's no player that you could bring in.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_04]: There's no changing of the coaching staff that could happen to make it better.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_04]: I just think if anything,
- 20:04[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe they could simplify some stuff, but even if you simplify it, that would mean playing more men and you necessarily aren't getting to the, you aren't getting to the quarterback as you need to in these one-on-one, so you have to stun a bit more and your corners aren't necessarily playing the greatest on the back end.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_04]: along with the safety.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: So it's just a bit of a hard place to be at.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_04]: And I think why we reacted the certain way and a lot of people reacted to certain way after something is lost is because you're not even into the big wave of your, of your, uh, schedule yet.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_04]: Like you have been played the Mahomes yet, the, the, the Justin Herbert's
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: the Jared Gawse again with the Jamir Gives, Jemison Williams, Ammon St.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: Brown.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_04]: You have been played all these other teams, the Philadelphia's of the world with AJ Brown, the Bonta Smith, Sake Juan, and so on.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like when you're going through all these different things with Atlanta, it's like the precursor as a natural
- 21:09[SPEAKER_04]: a natural thing that a human being would do is damn we look like that against the falcons what's going to happen when we go against you know guys that are even even more inclined to to press those things that are your weaknesses because that Robinson isn't a great officer coordinator so now when you're going to get Andy Reed
- 21:30[SPEAKER_04]: Or you're going against, you know, detoured and using their same formula from Ben Johnson and so on.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_04]: And you're just like, how do we, how do we like slow any of this down?
- 21:41[SPEAKER_04]: If we're struggling against certain teams like this, I mean, even the raiders had, had opportunities.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_04]: You know, they just didn't take full advantage of it, but they had opportunities, the giants had opportunities.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, we've seen with the Packers that, so it's just an interesting dynamic overall.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really know how it improves.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_04]: I think coming into the season.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, we probably thought that they would be better defensively because of the death that they added on the D line.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_04]: But now you've lost the Dietrich-wise.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_04]: You've now lost the battees.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_04]: You've lost some other guys in the process, even from the secondary, the Jonathan Jones.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_04]: You really don't have a veteran presence in the safety room to help with certain alignments and communication.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_04]: Marshan's not a bolsterist voice.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_04]: You filmed me so even though he's a vet, he's not going to do a whole bunch of communicating back there.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_04]: People are saying, move, move Mikey back to the outside, Mikey played some outside in the game.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, at the end of the day, I think some aren't as hard on him and trade
- 22:50[SPEAKER_04]: was someone that was just thrown into the mix of the fan base around the deadline last year, but everyone is playing poorly on the back end.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_04]: The defense is playing poorly overall.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_04]: So, I don't really know if there's a fix, but I know this defense is not set up to be a top 5 defense or a top 10.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_04]: You just hope that they can force internal resentment.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_04]: If you're out of position
- 23:16[SPEAKER_04]: and you're you're having poor attempts in the run stops as far as tackling it's kind of hard to force those turnovers and nothing.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_04]: That's my main issue with the zea fence.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_04]: They're not they're not flipping the field.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: I mean one one turnover and
- 23:32[SPEAKER_04]: You got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me, you got to be honest with me
- 24:00[SPEAKER_04]: and didn't get that interception, there's been opportunities there, they just haven't capitalized on it, and you need this same to capitalize on it, it's not going to get fixed, it's just more so, you need to be able to create turnovers.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_04]: forget what the run numbers and the past numbers are going to be if they can create turnovers and get the ball in the office of handsets to be able to score more, that would be amazing.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_04]: Because now you have the opportunity, possibly to go up a couple scores on the team.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_04]: But if you're always trailing and playing from behind, it's kind of null and void.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_04]: Because they got that mickey interception and they did nothing with it.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I don't even think, was it, was it a fill goal?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, they got three points.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think when three and a half though, I don't think they got that.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_04]: And that was just an air in past.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: Like, Pennics wasn't even pressure.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_04]: That was just an air in past.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_04]: So that was just my luck.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: You can get down over this.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_04]: That that's just an example.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_04]: By luck, you can get turnovers.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_04]: So if you play a bit more discipline and tighter in your coverage,
- 25:08[SPEAKER_04]: You can create more opportunities to flip the field and that's just where my main concern is with this defense I'm not looking for them to be Top tier.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_04]: I just want to see them flip the field more because I've seen how that's been able to benefit A dank man led defense when they had trade-von digs getting the level of interceptions in the season when they had the wrong
- 25:28[SPEAKER_04]: getting 12 interceptions on the season and what I think four, four, four, pick six.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_04]: I've seen the impact of what that does.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe they weren't the greatest team in stopping the run, but from a past defense standpoint, they would have top and lead during his tenure as VC and also was the top and the lead in flipping field with creating turnovers.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_06]: I think that I think the problem though is like with
- 25:56[SPEAKER_06]: Four games in, when it comes to creating turnovers, right?
- 25:59[SPEAKER_06]: But of course, you can just get on a streak here and there, like get one or two over time.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_06]: But I think the problem here is like, what you see is what you get when it comes to certain things.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_06]: And if you're in creating turnovers, like, ain't nobody about to just flip a switch and just start like becoming a demon and creating turnovers and that's kind of the problem that they face.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_06]: And I'm not saying that they're going to,
- 26:25[SPEAKER_06]: without creating one.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_06]: But I am saying, if you don't have that talent to get that taken care of, then if you don't have people who are aggressive at the cast point, who are talents at that aspect, or who can have the instincts to trick, or force a player or office of player into a mistake,
- 26:49[SPEAKER_06]: Um, then that also is going to counteract the ability to just be football lucky, like, or, or add to it, like the inability to be football lucky.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_06]: And what I mean, but that is those fumbles that literally will bounce back to the, to the player, uh, the office of player or a special teamer, you, you, you, you fumble the ball and then you can't recover that.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_06]: Like, I just think if you're not opportunistic right now, um, I don't think like there's going to be this switch that flips.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_06]: I just think, uh, you may get something here in there, but that's just kind of the nature of the core group that you have.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_06]: One quick thing, so we got to get the Kevin Sewns, so I was gonna say one thing before we go to break the game.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_06]: All right, well, I'll be quick with mine then.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_06]: So Mr. Makeaway, Charlotte, you saw that everybody's listening, make sure you hit that like button hit that subscribe.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_06]: But Mr. Makeaway said, Martian is not getting into the system.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_06]: I argue he's still getting some what used to playing with these guys when he comes to communication.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_06]: You may be right.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_06]: I also posted the clip on Twitter.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_06]: where there was several instances of miscommunication, whether it was actually the two, one of them wasn't even from a, uh, uh, uh, Marshaan.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_06]: It was from Jeremy Reeves, the Tree Amos, where they blew a coverage, um, and then another one where Marshaan actually
- 28:00[SPEAKER_06]: You probably didn't see the field the right way and everybody crashed in a quarters coverage on to Drake London It was the past to be on on the side that that pennies under through So like if you go to my Twitter right now You'll see that those are the only two clips I've been able to put out there But but I kind of broke it down like the coverage in and where to miss communication came from
- 28:20[SPEAKER_06]: All right, you got hurry up.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_06]: Cause I got to get to the air breaking.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_06]: We got to get you in it.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_05]: So, and that's how I'm going to be quick in this, my thing was with the Dan Quinn comments and Dan Quinn talked about, right, and it's done's more.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_05]: Why is that something you know is after the game?
- 28:31[SPEAKER_05]: That's something I want to be proactive in game.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_05]: Like your notices, this is, this adjustment.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_05]: And I do think what we're talking about Turner was a create in Turner's.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_05]: You have to make the quarterback uncomfortable.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_05]: Michael Pellis was never uncomfortable comfortable throughout the whole game.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_05]: And if one of the ways you felt like, man, we should have did this creating stuff.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_05]: Make them uncomfortable in some kind of way.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_05]: That's one of those ways you can create those turnovers.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_05]: And if you're talking about creating turnovers as a team, this is what you have to do.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_05]: Like you have to make the quarterback uncomfortable.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_05]: Like you're not gonna keep telling me that we don't have the talent to do this.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_05]: We don't have the talent to do that.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_05]: Like these dudes come with a big time pedigree.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of these players did.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_05]: Like Mike Sammer still Nick St.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_05]: in the draft, you know, I mean, quantum Martin is supposed to be this, you know, this guy has a plate maker in Illinois, you know, Johnny Newton, all of these guys in these teeth, you're not going to tell me these guys can't play football.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_05]: These guys are not good at football.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_05]: No one told me this before the season, but now everyone's telling me that these guys are no good now.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_05]: And as the coaches, they're making the coaches look bad, you know, so to speak.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_05]: But I think you have to be quicker with your adjustments.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_05]: You have to be a little bit better with your game plan.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_05]: You have to be a little bit more aggressive.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_05]: You have to dig take more.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_05]: You have to stop being such a reacting type of team.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_05]: You have to kind of dictate your tempo.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_05]: And I think that's when the turnovers and all that stuff is going to start getting creative.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_05]: When you start dictating and stop waiting for other teams, it dictates you by that point.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_05]: And again,
- 29:59[SPEAKER_05]: these things already have the comfort ability while you are sitting back, still reacting, trying to figure out what to do to them.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_05]: Be quick and with your adjustments and just gain plan aside, you forget that.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_05]: Like just adjust a little bit better.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_05]: And that's just not being saw on that.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_06]: Let me tell you about these good people at underdog fantasy.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_06]: I didn't beat myself when I said, I'm so excited, bro, I don't, I don't know, I don't know for effect.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_06]: Because if people did win, they sure ain't tell me, I don't know for effect.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_06]: If y'all listen to that post game recap and I get y'all the Sunday night play, if you played it on under the old fantasy, you're one.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_06]: football season is a full swing and underdog is the best place to get in on all the action.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_06]: Get your picks right and you can win us a 5,000 times your case.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_06]: Right and if you didn't remember who I had on that Sunday night game.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_06]: Again, we had, uh, Josh Jacobs, uh, higher, rushing and receiving touchdowns, uh, Tucker Crab, higher than three and a half receptions.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_06]: George Picking's higher than 61 and a half.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_06]: That boy went stupid.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_06]: Had a hundred, thirty four and a day.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_06]: And then Michael Parsons, that one, that one was the sweat because it came down to the last, I think one of the last few drives in the game, last couple of drives in the game.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_06]: I think that was actually the last drive in overtime foot foot, but that was when they ended up picking a bill vote.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_06]: Anyway, um,
- 31:28[SPEAKER_06]: higher than 0.56 got to set.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_06]: I think we're going Thursday night for this one.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_06]: Let's see what I got.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_06]: Let's see if we can go for two for two and back and back weeks, man.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_06]: So I have on Thursday, night football.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_06]: Devontate Adams, such a fan of him, like any time that I'm picking somebody on the ramps, I got to get Devontate involved, higher on receiving yards 55 and a half, we're going to go higher on Christmas category, rushing yards 60 and a half, we're going to go higher on current Williams, rushing and receiving yards 82 and a half, and then we're going to go Brock

- 33:46[SPEAKER_06]: Right now here to talk some commanders man.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_06]: I think we don't went through the whole wringer at a defensive side of the football today or first half of the show Kevin.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_06]: I appreciate you joining us.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a judge guys.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_06]: We are doing good.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_06]: We're trying to navigate the was like, but what's the the alarms and what's like what actually can be fixed with like the the biggest.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_06]: glaring holes, I guess, with this team.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_06]: I guess we can stay on defense right now.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_06]: He's just joined.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_06]: I think that's kind of one of the bigger topics right now, we're watching.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously, you scored 27 points offensively with with Mary Oda.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_06]: Granted, you didn't come out too strong, but you did enough.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_06]: And your defense just like it was like a dev buy thousand pay because we
- 34:36[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, the roster said you can't get nobody in here that's going to, that's going to make it seem drastically better.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_06]: Where are you at with like the defensive side of the ball?
- 34:46[SPEAKER_06]: How things are right now, but also like what can you see what I was the like the ceiling for this unit now, as you have a four game sample size.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: You think Jaden can play safety?
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: On Sunday, you know, it all seriousness though him coming back and playing at the lovely play that last year is going to mask a lot of what's going on on defense it did last year, but
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: It actually reminds me, and I've told this story many times, Clinton Porter told me the story about how before the 2004 draft, Gibbs wanted to draft Winslow Jr.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: from Miami, and Clinton went to Gibbs and said, you shouldn't do that.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: You got to draft Sean Taylor and he said, yeah, but we want offense.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, if you want offense, draft Sean Taylor,
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: And Jayden will, his return is going to uplift everything, you know, I, I do believe that we saw that all last year, specific to what's going on defensively.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've figured it out.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've figured it out.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's somewhere between scheme and play calling and talent and execution.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Guess is it's probably a lot of everything.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest concern is they've actually upgraded their run defense with the Ken Law edition.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think we can all agree that through.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: four games.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a pretty good addition.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's better than John was John Allen was their last year.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're better upfront against the run than they were last year.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that can be sustained.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest issue is what's going on in coverage?
- 36:32[SPEAKER_01]: Is it scheme as a play calling?
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: Whether they're man or they're in zone, they're appear to be people running wide open.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm talking about the
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: and it ended Atlanta.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: And if they're going to rely on a pass rush to cover up what's going on on the back end, it's hard to do that when you don't have one of those special, you know, put the fear of God into the opponent pass rushers.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: They don't have that guy.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I am concerned about coverage and how they fix that.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, fortunately, we'll have a quarter back in
- 37:15[SPEAKER_04]: So I want to jump in and kind of get to the office at the bottom.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_04]: Something that I asked kind of late on our show post game Sunday.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_04]: When you were watching the offense, I guess Atlanta Falcons.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_04]: Did you really feel like you missed Terry McClellan?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_04]: That much, like what's your thought process on Terry McClellan so far?
- 37:40[SPEAKER_04]: Through the three games that he has played it and now the one game that he's missed.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_04]: Like, do you feel like he's that much of a game changer for the offense?
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: I got a lot of thoughts on Terry McCormick on back to, you know, that's the whole thing over the summer, but one thought I don't have is they're not better without him.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're not the same without him.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: They need him and they need five out there.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: And really, they need Noah Brown and John Bates too.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: They need to be healthy.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: I actually like the running back situation right now in terms of the big play, you know, a potential from both cross-he married and from Rodriguez.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: But they're not the same.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're not...
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: better without Terry you got to have a true stretch the field guide for read on the field he's a very good contested catch guy do i think that they would be significantly worse without him if everybody else is healthy including the quarterback know but they're better with them.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_05]: Kevin, I've been in debates with fans for the last couple of days and this is mainly about the defense, but we go back to what we talked about before the season and our expectations for the season and what we expect this thing to end up at.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_05]: I think all of us on this show, we had this team somewhere between conference championship or maybe even a suitable, like that's what we thought of this team.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_05]: But when you look at where the defense is, it's kind of like you're having the same conversations about the defense last year, but I'm having fans telling me that it's all personnel.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_05]: Like it's not coaching, it's the personnel, Joe Witt and Dan Quinn or whoever else is, you know, Courtney's coordinating the defense.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_05]: This is all they have to deal with, but we're not getting new personnel.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_05]: We're not getting new new ones walking through the door, saving this defense at this point.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_05]: can this be salvaged at this point?
- 39:38[SPEAKER_05]: Can this be workable to the planet?
- 39:39[SPEAKER_05]: I know you said that Jaden changes a lot of things, but even with Jaden plan, we got 55 points scored against this last year, against the Eagles in the Conference Championship game.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_05]: We're going to be playing as the Packers, whoever else in the playoffs can this be salvageable to the point where we're like a top 20 defense to the point where we can feel confident about this team going forward, even to be in a playoff team.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_06]: It's like 20 is like, that's like, you, you're begging for a point.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_06]: That's 20.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I'm not sure that.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: everybody thinks that it's just personnel.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's across the board.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think Joe Witt Jr had a lot of pressure on him coming into this season.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying it's him either.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's not 36 years old trying to cover B. John Robinson out of the backfield.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: But he can't take Bobby Wagner off the field either because he's so important.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: on rundowns, on running situations.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if they can get better.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, before the season started, I was right there with you guys.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like this team, part of it was based on the idea that the defense couldn't be worse than it was last year, and that somehow,
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: year to same system, adding a couple of pieces, it would be at least slightly better.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's slightly better, you get Jayden in the offense to be what it was last year.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: I see 11 wins again, you know, 12.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: I see a deep run in the postseason.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not bailing from that position, not after four games.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's too early to bail on that position.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: But the number one, they're too concerned.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Number one is defense.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: And they better figure out their coverage issues.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: Is that sitting a lot of more down?
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: Is that moving Mike Sammer still back to the outside?
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: And letting Noah, I, you know, be the nickel corner.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Is it playing more nickel?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: Is it playing more base?
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: Is it taking Bobby Wagner out a few plays and letting Jordan McGee play?
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: Look, they've already made personnel changes on offense to two guard positions.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: I bet you were going to see some change.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: happen in the next two to three weeks if the defense isn't vastly improved.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, one extreme would be Dan Quinn taking over play calling.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: That would be a total signal as to what he believes the problem is.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think that's going to happen.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just something, we got surprised by brand of Coleman being an active, allig ready, getting benched.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: Something will happen on the other side of the ball of this continues.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's my concern about my optimism that I had a month ago.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: And number two is the NFC man is loaded.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: with really good teams.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: Philly, Detroit, and the Rams are all Super Bowl contenders.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: The way it looks now, things change.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: We know that, but last year, you know, it was like,
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: we'll get there and our expectations weren't the NFC championship game, but they had a shot at one point in November when they were seven and two.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: We were thinking, you know, two seed division champ, play a couple of home games who knows.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: But again,
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: I still feel like they've got a chance to be great offensively and the quarterback's going to be what we all thought he was going to be before the season started.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's played out two games.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: One was against a very good defensive team that giants are for real defensively.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: And the second one was a tough spot Thursday night against the team that dominated the line of scrimmage that night in Green Bay.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to see him play, can't wait to see the offense get back to where it was last year, because that gives you the best chance to win nine or ten and be in the postseason.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_06]: Um, one thing that I did think you was going to mention, now you went macro on your second observation with the NFC and I completely agree, um, in another thing to add, like, like, those teams for games in, like on both sides of the ball, they look strong, like, they have, like, some weaknesses here and there, but you know, like, these guys are locked in, like, these are teams that's that's full throttle off-rip, you know, is I could what you won't get weekend a week out, right?
- 44:04[SPEAKER_06]: Um, but when I think about the team and a second point that I think that is very important.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_06]: We talked about the defense, um, the lack of discipline, um, penalties.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_06]: They have 30 penalties in four games.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_06]: Um, and yeah, on both sides of the boat, uh, 30 penalty on both, uh, and in the game on the team four weeks in, but like what really hurt these guys, um, one big drive against Atlanta,
- 44:32[SPEAKER_06]: You overcome a bencin at hold.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_06]: You overcome a loop McCaffery, offensive affairs, first and third.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_06]: First and thirdy, Kevin.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_06]: And then,
- 44:45[SPEAKER_06]: You can't overcome the five yard fall start from Zekers and the res on you ultimately got to kick the field go and like kills your drive.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_06]: You have momentum that that entire way like things were kind of like you had an opportunity to flip things in your favor so long as you kept that drive alive.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_06]: And you did it after that first and 30.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_06]: Um, but just an example of a drive, but these penalties and in the lack of discipline on both sides of the board, like I don't know, like if you can't fix that either outside of just your your defensive struggles, um, I
- 45:18[SPEAKER_06]: I don't even know how you, I mean, that's going to be coaching.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_06]: That's a coaching point of emphasis, Blid.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_06]: That's just like a scary thing to think about my.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_06]: You can't keep yourself in foot, especially if you want to see these guys.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good point, you know.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: They've had more self-inflicted damage than they did last year.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, a lot of these games.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they haven't gotten takeaways that look, the tackling was terrible to go with some of those key penalties to go with the lack of takeaways.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Sam was still got the first one on a ball that was thrown right to him in some coverage.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad he caught it.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: He had a good return on it.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, before the season started, Quinn said discipline tackling takeaways.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_01]: you know, there were those sorts of areas of emphasis and I didn't think they tackled poorly against the giants or the Raiders, but to your point, yeah, those are the things that will derail, you know, even talented teams.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_04]: So you touched on something as far as like the offense and the coaching staff has made adjustments already to begin this season with, you know, benching, Allegretti, also, you know, taking Brandon Coleman and active.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_04]: Now on the defensive side of the ball, if it were up to you, if I gave you these two names, who would you?
- 46:41[SPEAKER_04]: keep still in the phone or would you make an active or or stick them on the bench?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_04]: The first option would be Cliam Martin or Marsha on ladder more.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the two I think everybody.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: See, here's the where we get into these issues as fans.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: Are they the issue, or is the scheme the issue?
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: Is the play calling the issue?
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why is Martian, Latam, or Green Bay running with every motion and not being able to play, you know, and get his hands on a receiver?
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Why are they able to isolate that rather than passing it off?
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't do it until late in the game.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let me just say about Sunday.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of zoned.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of man.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of zoned man mix.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_01]: They tried a lot of things.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: We've also heard Marcia and Latamour bailed sort of implication about the play calling after the Green Bay game.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sandra Spiel said something the other day too that you know, wasn't a direct shot at it.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that it's the personnel for sure.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not thrilled with Latamore or Martin and that the Miss Tackles overall looked around and had a bunch of Miss Tackles in the game Sunday, even though we knocked the ball out of B. John Sands early in the game.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, Sander still hasn't played like he did last year.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: Juan Martin has it, Lufu hasn't played at the same level, consistently that he did last year.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot going on.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you asked me to guess on if one of those two players does get benched, which one would it be, I would say it's a lot of more.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: Who would you, who would you pick?
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: Cause I mean, I don't know, I don't know if that's the point.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where it's kind of frustrating because I know that everybody thinks they have the answer.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of work.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's one Martin.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's Bobby Wagner on, on backs and tight ends or it's just Joe with Jr., it's his play calling, it's his scheme.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: But it's somewhere in between.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: That, you know, it's usually the case.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: His side, her side, the truth lies in the middle somewhere.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what it is.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I talked to a bunch of people and the overarching sort of theme dancer is it's a lot of the things right now.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's not one thing.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, and by the way, after the last week's game against the Raiders, everybody's like, whoa, dominant defensive performance, like he gets the Giants.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: But those were two weekend offensive teams, especially in the trenches.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: If I had to bench one guy, I mean, I'm just not impressed even when he is impressed man coverage with a lot of more right now.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm just...
- 49:32[SPEAKER_04]: I struggle a lot with Kwan Martens.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_05]: He really did say Kwan Martens by the way.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_05]: He was, I don't know who went for you.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't want Kevin to say anything in particular, but you know how he truly felt.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_04]: I just think with Kwan Martens, even going back to last season.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: And even when he first got drafted under Ronald Rivera, we've seen the struggles for them to even put them on the field.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_04]: but I don't think that he's a centerfield safety.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think that he should be closer to the line of scrimmers and even his career because... Yeah.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because it's like he comes from having the versatility of being a nickel corner and even playing a little bit of outside of Illinois and the safety.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like every time he's in space with any tight end, no matter
- 50:17[SPEAKER_04]: if they run a four, four or a five, three, it's like he just goes in the panic mode and I just can't stand seeing it.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna, I'm gonna save you guys.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_04]: So like the Sean Taylor is a Bob Sanders, Troy Polymalu, Ed Reed.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's always been my thing.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_04]: He's not that much, it's football.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_04]: No, he's not even, he's at him, Archaleta.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, he's not throwing a James either.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's Sunday.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_05]: He's playing nickel cornerback for the charge's badly.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_04]: But I can guess.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_04]: I guess I say.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_04]: I guess I say all that about plan is because for the general public and the fans, this staff has been raving about him so much going to the next level and being a pro baller.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like what the hell are you guys seeing that even gave you any indication of that because I don't see, I don't even see him being a second string after after this year.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I don't know.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't see it.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_04]: So that's where it's just frustrating.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_04]: For me, but it wasn't until I sway you any particular way, I'm just extremely upset with the safety play of Kwam Martin especially as he's been spoke about so So like publicly from Joe with Junior to Dan Quinn and it's just like I don't see that's why I gave you a lot of more because I know that they really like Kwam, they like Kwam, they believe in them.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's not going to be great right, but I'm about in the shirts that they feel that way about a lot of work.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, no, I was actually going to go to the office of Santa football because we kind of talk about the deep I've had nausea in here, but my question is, and this is a guy who actually was talking about when I saw them bring the guy and for a top 30 visit this year, and that's bill, bill across the American.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_05]: And
- 52:12[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I know the issue or at least the sentiment is that he's not great at past protection right now and that's why he's not seeing the field so much but that it doesn't drive you crazy because it drives me crazy that we don't see the guy using it to the second quarter or at least until like two drives into the office of system and I know that the big thing with them is that they want to see him get better at the past protection.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_05]: But is he that bad in past protection at this point that they're worried about someone giving killed out there or you know I mean it has he because at least from what I've seen in games he doesn't look bad bad in past protection to the point we can't get this guy on a field more or get a more carries more because I do think the bill needs more carries and he needs more action in the ranking.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I, I, I said this either today or yesterday.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, if that's the issue coach him up and coach him up quickly, because he's got 29 carries in the first four games and he's averaging nearly six yards per carry get him on the field so that he can double that carry count over the next four games or more he should be getting 15 carries a game and by the way, I think Rodriguez is really good to so I don't want to.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think they chose Rodriguez to be a guy that gets more carries.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be fine with that too, but we hear this all the time with young backs, rookie backs.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, yeah, they got to be careful, they can't have them out there.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: Guy doesn't know what to do in past pro.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: We'll coach him up better because he's too, you know, good as a runner.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, that's a good formula for you because it keeps your defense off the field.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and you don't have to have your quarterback be as much a part of the run game as he was last year.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: So, I like cross-emarrant, I like Rodriguez, McNickles, they love for a lot of reasons.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I thought, you know, 14 carries between the two backs on Sunday was too few.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they average seven and a half yards per carry, you know, cross-ge America Rodriguez.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I given the context of the game, which was your defense every time you put it out there, was on the verge of giving up seven.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: I would have preferred to have seen them continue to run the football.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: Fewer penalties, too.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like when they run the football.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_06]: Um, I guess, uh, well, I guess my last question.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_06]: Um, do you think that this, this year, so far, you've seen like a change in their offensive approach as it relates to being aggressive when they can or when they make sense as opposed to like, then maybe being a little bit more conservative this year.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_06]: What do you mean like four downs and I think four down at you just, yeah, you just actually just said it four downs and the haves do you did you do you kind of see like a difference in in their approach so certain situation situation football as opposed to like last year.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they definitely have been conservative in two of the four games, including Sunday at the end of Habs, which is different than last year, but they also haven't had
- 55:32[SPEAKER_01]: Jade Daniels, Quarterbacking.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_01]: and two of the four games, I think Cliff's doing a lot of what he did last year.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he has a new weapon and Demosman terrific.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're going to see more touches for that position than you did last year with, say, Zacchaeus, or or even Crowder.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: But it's really hard to be definitive about anything through four games in what you're starting quarterbacks only played into of them.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: And the games also were an opener and a game on Thursday night, two games and five days.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: And we haven't seen him since.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I think when he gets back, they'll be sufficiently aggressive like they were last year.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: And smart aggressive like they were last year.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see why they wouldn't be.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll see more of that being aggressive if the defense continues to be
- 56:31[SPEAKER_05]: in the Green Bay game when Jayden was healthy as we know it, they weren't aggressive in that game.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_05]: I remember having issues with them at the end of the half.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_05]: The first half, when they play Green Bay, when they kind of settle for that field goal, that won't feel go by man, gay, for like 19 seconds left in the game.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_05]: And I thought that was really strange.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_05]: So that's what I'm saying, hopefully you're right because with Jayden, you do want to take those chances.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_05]: You feel like I can make those plays, but I feel like this has the kind of a thing
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that green big game I think we're going to end up tossing because
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: We've not seen many games like that in which a front-for-completely dominated an offensive line and a back-seven completely shut down every receiver for, you know, 60 minutes.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_01]: That was an ugly game.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: The game should have been a lot worse score wise than it turned out to be.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_01]: They got beat up, they got bullied in that game.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I I feel like that led to a couple of the offensive line changes for sure the following week and by the way Green Bay gave up 40 and Sunday.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on the same didn't they got the nerve to give up 40.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: The league.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_04]: Green Bay lost to the Cleveland Browns.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it was the Cleveland Browns.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_01]: But Cleveland couldn't gain a yard in that game.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I agree like that next day I was like, what are you doing at the end of the half you got to get closer you got to think touchdown and I really thought Sunday they went from their own eight to the 33 and like three plays and then he got conservative.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand that you're getting the ball to start the third quarter and your defense, you don't want to give up another three or another score to Atlanta before the break, but it's not the way he coached last year.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: Every one of those opportunities, it seems like they were aggressive going for points.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, delivered on a lot of those.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, um, it's, I get a we got expectations for this team and I think being
- 58:40[SPEAKER_06]: critical but but in the healthy manner is is all just flesh and out everything that we want to see improved I'm going to give you up here because I I didn't hear you show today or or podcasts.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_06]: I can't remember when you said it, but what's what's the chances watching has to get this done when the road against LA?
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: I like the chances this week.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think it's a good bounce back opportunity after a difficult loss, which I thought was kind of predictable going into it, because of Atlanta's desperation.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the chargers lost to the giants, but they're banged up along their offensive line.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: They lost one of the best offensive linemen in the league before the season started and slater.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Alt's out.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's the one thing, I've seen a lot
- 59:27[SPEAKER_01]: People say, well, the giants, you know, messed them up with past rush pressure and got after Herbert, the giants are really good personnel wise defensively, we don't have a Dexter Lawrence, we don't have an oblual Carter, we don't have a burns or even a fibro, like they're, they've got after Herbert, but this will be a better opportunity defensively to not, you know, give up 34.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: and I think Jaden being back and look, part of me is wondering what will he have around them.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm counting on some of these guys coming back.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, terribly back, but maybe Bates is back, and maybe Noah Brown is back.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: But I like them Sunday.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think this seems like the spot where nobody will give him a chance and they go and get a and get a dub.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_05]: Kevin, and this is my last question.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_05]: Does this game pass the smell test because the spray is only what 1.5 to 1.5 right now and they're on the road that to me says that this may pass your smell test at least there's no doubt that they're 2.5 point dog it feels like it should be more.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_01]: And every, you know, John Q. Public better is going to have the chargers.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I like us even more than the matchup itself.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: But getting our quarterback back, I think is going to be a big deal.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_01]: And I like this spot.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like to spot a lot on Sunday.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think now if Terry's out, if Brown's out, if dates is out.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: And they go in there with kind of a shell of what they really want offensively.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: in that line shoots up higher.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be a bit concerned, but I like them right now.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to win Sunday.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: At least cover.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_06]: It is my a Kevin pre-sature time pre-sature once again, man, for checking in with Trevor Dive.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_06]: I know you you pre-sumple Kevin Sheen so team 980 and Kevin Sheen Pride cast is there anything else you want to be with the know about?
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's good and it's good to be back with you guys.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for asking us.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: I like your service.
- 1:01:34[SPEAKER_06]: They say man, enjoy your weekend or you got a long weekend, so enjoy your week.
