- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, sorry.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: James Loranitis, Ohio State line back in coach has been in his position for the last two seasons.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to join and talk more with the fellas, obviously Sunday Styles.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: The commanders first round pick.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be joining us at the top of the show.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: So just a little bit.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to chop it up with him.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: So if you have got questions for James, you know, if we can
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: They have to appreciate that.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now, fellas, what's up?
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: Jerry, AJ, how y'all feeling?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_03]: Hot breath.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: Try to stay up this goddamn sun.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Man.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I did all my maneuvering around working stuff like before before noon.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: So like, when I had to go out and get some lunch today, I went out for lunch like 11 a.m. and it was think 89.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: The only time I felt that 95 was when I was off at work.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: I was off working, I was heading on the metro.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, I got to take a shot was that work.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I take a shot when I'm on a before work.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: Then you got to walk from your car to the building.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, I take another damn shot with sweat like a bitch.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: Meaning, you're stealing and get to the summer, yeah, bro.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 95 degrees.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's this nice outside.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_04]: I guess it's just like a pre-game for what we about to experience me, you ma, so, hey, nothing else, feel like slavery outside, so, she last two days, you know what I was
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: James has come through.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: Let's do a little receiver conversation right quick.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think since we last talked, we entertained the stuff I digs in IU conversation.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, that was two episodes ago, but we can't kind of have that rehashing now because I think Albert Brear came out with the report within the last couple
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: that Stefan is linking or liking the idea of Washington and he would entertain his Washington and I think Kansas City, I believe, is the other thing that he mentioned.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: So those are the two things, and me personally, you don't know how I feel.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't need it, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm both.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_04]: You feel me?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I just feel like the way the room is set up currently, like who else can you truly rely on to start a third point?
- 5:24[SPEAKER_04]: Like, even from just a veteran president saying someone that's actually done at a high level,
- 5:31[SPEAKER_04]: You don't have nobody on the roster.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you got van Jefferson and Traylon Berks, Jaylon Lane, Luke McAfrey, Diamond Brown.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_04]: You got a bunch of guys that are not even necessarily locked to make the roster.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_04]: Of course, somebody got to make the team, right?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_04]: But like, you don't know definitively like this person's going to be there for sure.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_04]: And like the only other person outside of Terry's and told you it was because he was just drafted.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: no true like veteran that has done it at a high clip on that roster.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm cool with sounding both.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_04]: I think that, you know, some of the conversations around stuff on Diggs has been, he may take away from the development and Tony Williams.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_04]: I don't see how like Diggs can line up anywhere.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_04]: Same with IU keep in line up everywhere.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_04]: and even from how things were said in David Blouse, pressure, he plans on moving Terry everywhere as well.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_04]: So he not just going to be on one side of the field, I think the more veteran guys that done it at a higher clip can only help in the development of Antonio Williams and even the other guys on the roster from a look at McAfrey, Jalen Lane, and Traylon Berkson and so on, just teaching them different nuances of route running in the session
- 6:52[SPEAKER_04]: and all these different things.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm cool with signing over, but I mean, will that happen?
- 6:57[SPEAKER_04]: Truly don't know.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_04]: I think that there is mutual interest and step on come into Washington.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's probably just waiting to see how things look at OTAs and then head in.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_04]: And many camp is when he'll make his ultimate decision on where he'll go, whether it be Washington or elsewhere.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, it'd be nice to sign up.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, honestly, because I just think that you got a guy and stuff on who's 32, 33, then you got a guy and Terry is going to be turning 31.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_04]: Where's the 32?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, 31 this year.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, thank you.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: So you're definitely not bringing back Terry next year.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_04]: So then you added, if you get possibly still get IU, he's turning, he's going to be 28.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: you fill me and be productive, that's something you could build around alongside with also drafting another Y receiver in the earlier rounds next year because it's a great class to have that type of need.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_04]: I think you still have a good chord that you could build around, but yeah, I mean, those two guys are in two different situations in their careers and age wives,
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: I, you could clearly a one-year deal with the opportunity to be extended for longer just due to his age.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, that's where I sit on that.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I'd be cool with signing either one.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I guess if you sound both, you know, what's the downside?
- 8:37[SPEAKER_03]: You taking more swings at the Apple.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: But I mean, you do need something else in a receiver room, I think.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it's like a dire emergency need.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's why I receive it, but I do think you need to take some more swings.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I got like step on days.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I know some people are concerned with, you know, some of the background stuff that he comes with, but for one year deal,
- 9:00[SPEAKER_03]: I honestly got to say what's the downside.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he's still productive as hell.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_03]: You saw what he did in New England last year.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: And I will highly doubt he's just going to fall off tremendously, you know, as a receiver.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's one of the better route runners has been since he's been in the league.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean, you got to add, you know, some of those guys, if you can, if you have that chance, like it's hard for me to say turn that down now.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: Like I said, my mind,
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: My turn off from step on last year was more so him coming off the injury in Houston.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I was worried about his age of coming off the injury.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: But seeing what he did in New England, seeing how he helped the Drake May and how he was a weapon for him, I will be all for the side and especially, like I said, it's a one year commitment.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't be too much worried about, you know, him ruining anything in the locker room.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't necessarily worry about things like that when you come off like a five and 12 season.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_03]: As I always say, he's not coming in ruin in a dynasty, like I mean, he's, you know, he's coming in here and if he came ruin the culture as they so call it, then you probably didn't have the culture that you thought you had to begin with.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's little risk in signing a step on digs.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really see what the major, you know, even when it comes to like I just probably a little bit more risk than signing a IU that it is a digs, but I don't see what the, you know, the major downfalls of bringing it in a step on digs.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_03]: I know I had a conversation with a guy earlier who was kind of getting on me about my Antonio Williams take because I thought, well, I said that I think Antonio Williams kind of a plug and play starter from day one just because of his separation skills and the skills that he brings to the why I receive a room.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_03]: And this guy had already counted stuff on digs and he's like, well, where's he going to fit on the field?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_03]: Step on digs is a slot receiver.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_03]: But on my step on digs can play outside in and I mean, sure, he's, you know, probably better suited in the slot he has been for most of his career.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: But he's also a versatile receiver.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: He's a guy that can separate even Antonio Williams.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I do think he's primarily going to play slot.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope he plays slot.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's where he's going to like to be best at.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: But I also think you're going to move him around.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: And that's probably one of the things you like about a David Blau or at least a
- 11:07[SPEAKER_03]: what we perceive the David Blau Hall fist to be is that you're going to have some versatility with your wide receivers, whereas in a cliff off and you weren't moving guys around a lot.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: And I think one of the important things to move before with the wide receiver is like switchability, the versatility amongst guys and guys that can play inside and out and move around just have their versatility to kind of attack defensive.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: So for me, yeah, I'm completely for signing this stuff on days.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: I don't really see too much downside with it.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: Monty and John, I ain't gonna lie to you.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I missed, maybe I missed or didn't hear, cause they said this when AJ was talking to me.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I missed when you said that Terry was getting cut.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you said it, but I would say this to both of y'all, if Terry produces at an exceptional level, I'm not saying top five or anything, but if he produces at a level that is acceptable to them,
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: They ain't going to be no, they probably see his contract out.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't, I don't know, I don't know what that would look like, but I think you know when you see it, like, he's not going to have a really good season and then there's a conversation that if he's, if he's being brought back or not, I think he'll, it's a contract through.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's the contract.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_04]: So the way the contract is structured, it's for them to get out next year, like no matter what happens, like, but he, he could, he could, he could have a jazz
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: the contract is set up for him to be cut, like it's hard to, like, I don't, I don't see a situation where they'll just let out cut a guy that they, that they like, like Terry, like that's, that's that's the, that's the, that has to be something where it's like, you can, you can, you can really ask the question, because they control it, they control that third year and, and like,
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: If you have to overpay, I'm assuming that's that's the whole point of the contract that he did sign is like that last year
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: If he wants to sit out like he's signed to deal, that's like that's the problem that he's going to have to worry about on his own.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: But Washington Washington will be fine with the number, especially if he over if he over exceed or if he exceeds beyond the expectation or with the number with the number is expecting us in like that.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's fine.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: So but that's why it's like if he's
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: like I don't see a that's probably one of the only ways where you can sit here and say like all right well you aren't necessarily changing the game for us in a big way we can go ahead and like move to the future at why I was at the why I was in position and I don't know who that's going to look like but um let's not talk uh too bad about
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: any formal Ohio State but that's all right.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: Cause I'm all right now, we get current live backer coach for the Ohio State but guys, James Lorne, I just joined in this.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: So let's go ahead and get James in and James goes man, uh, you know, I don't know how much Terry McClaur talk you here nowadays, but um,
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there's a mixed bag of opinions in Washington, and a lot of people love them, and then a lot of people kind of view them a little bit under the elite scale.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: Do you get any noise out there about Terry Carly?
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: Is now a man, I think we're so,
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: We are so busy with our own day-to-day stuff.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't even, I was listening to the contract talk and it brought me back to my days with the Rams.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: And it's funny because you understand as a player, where you're like, dang, this might be a rubber hits the road type year with the way the contracts laid out in a language.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: But I have no idea what Terry's contract is.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: All I know is that his story is incredible from what he did here to what he's done in the NFL.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the kind of man that he is, but I'm ignorant to all the production or whatever y'all we're talking about.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good thing.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was like, that's a good thing, man.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I think like even when I think about your career, like I grew up in your prime years and like knowing about Lord Nites, like one of the things that I do about
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: you as a pro like the consistency from day one up until the years that you said, you know, I'm going to go ahead and move on from the NFL like that consistency at the line back a level like there was like a reputation for your ability to make the plays and the boxing things that nature right but like I think when we look at the current rookie first overall pick in
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: isn't necessarily from the traditional lineback he's coming down he's coming from safety down to the linebacker spot and like he's having to learn from one of the better players in your air and you but also just trying to figure out where exactly
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, what do I do best and how do I bring out my best treats to succeed at this level at the second level.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, what are some of the things that that really stands out from your eyes and sunny from a raw perspective, but also like as those years have piled on like what has he really honed in on that is making him that seventh overall pick to Washington.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I think Sunny's last three or four games were as most physical at Ohio State.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think there came a time in the season where he kind of figured out that he's a grown man and has grown man strength and kind of throw his weight around and on top of the athlete that he is.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: We knew right away, like ever since I got to Ohio State in 2023, I had been pounding the table for Sonny to move from safety to linebacker.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: I saw this kid that we were basically using as a overhand thing Sam, we were calling him a big nickel, and he was our Sam and our base stuff, like he was long, he could run, and the understeer the covers concepts from the back end down.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: think a lot of people doubted his ability to be physical and play with great hands and get off blocks.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: But what he has done in the span of just two seasons has he's figured out how to play the position very naturally.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: There's not
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: The ability to see the triangle, to read the half back through the surface and see pollers and pick up on the keys, stuff that you try to help them as a former player of like, what are the tells of offenses and what are they going to tell you before they line up, whether it's counter or whether we're getting divides on or inside zone or stretch, all the little tells that.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_00]: Offences tell of themselves a lot of time.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: You try to put that in his plate and nothing was ever too much You know, he was a guy that always wants to study more and I just think that his best years of playing football are still ahead of him and He's a guy that's gonna work at it.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: He'll wear the heck out of a coach Quinn and make sure that he knows that scheme inside it now And that's a good thing.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you want and your your guy who's gonna be wearing the green dot
- 18:32[SPEAKER_04]: Hey James, man, I want to say I appreciate you for joining us.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_04]: You know, definitely try to get you on the last week, but you had a tribe who's glad you made it back safely.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_04]: My question for you, let's say pre-draft and post-draft have anyone on the Commander's staff, such as like a Dan Quinn, Ken Norton Jr., who's also a former linebacker like yourself.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_04]: That's a linebacker's coach in Washington or Dorontae Jones.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_04]: ask you anything, or as far as like sending strengths and weaknesses, or different little nuances of him since, because you pretty much, you pretty much pounded the table, like you said, for him to make that transition from safety to linebacker, which has put him in this position to be drafted some overall, aside from the guy giving talents, but you know, have you had any conversation with them pre or post draft in regards of suddenly?
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I taught the dance for a little bit at Pro Day and just kind of gave a short review of a sunny and end-arvel, you know, at that time, all those guys were asking about both of them, but I think.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: most of those conversations probably are had with coach Patricia just because Matt spent so many time you know so much time in the NFL.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's like that guy's rolla dex old school rolla dexer he's he's got man droid which is awful by the way.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if y'all got angry.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: Coach P you coach P messes up our whole man.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: He messes up our whole group chat the green is great man.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it's crazy.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I think Matt's the guy that you know talks to Danny or everyone in the league It seems like it has really good relationships But you knew what you were like what I went tell teams and I thought probably talked to more the more teams besides Washington Which is probably a tell-tale sign, honestly that they were trying to kind of keep it
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: Under the radar, although maybe it was the worst kept secret because everyone knew that the commanders would probably take them.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that I was excited about that.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: I was really the spot that sunny wanted to go.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when you asked some pre draft, I remember my wife asked them and he had said, You know, he was hoping that the commanders were able to get them.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: He just kind of felt like a good vibe there and
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: Look, I did a, I did a for Asian visit with the Falcons when Dan Quinn was the head coach there like he's an unbelievable guy.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's a few when that seems like everybody wants to play for.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so it's good that, you know, Sonny got that wish.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, it's like, Sonny's a guy that,
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: people would ask like you're going to draft the guys going to be in the league for 10 plus years.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: He'll wear the green dot.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: He would not only like be involved with charities of his own, but he'll like be at all of his team needs charities and stuff in the community, you know what I mean?
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: So every fan will be just proud to have him a part of the franchise.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're getting a kid who's super young like he came out of high school early.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: So he's actually supposed to be a senior in college coming up.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so sunny, late high school early.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_00]: So he's young.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: His best years are ahead of him.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so you're just getting a guy who's going to do everything right for you.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: And he's going to play at an exceptionally high level.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the floor, what alone, what the ceiling could be for him.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I, I mean, I text him, you know, I told him on, on draft night, honestly I told him in our vellum, like if you're a guy's dream is just like, oh, I made to a league, I was a top 10 pick or get to a second contract all of that, like you're aiming way too low, like you guys should be aiming for Goldjackets, because you have a rare freakish ability to run four, four, jump 43, you know what I mean?
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like,
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's that alien you're dropping out of space.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: So like, you know, like there what the best part is that Sunny has the mindset right to to go out there and attack it mentally Just like, you know, savvy that's will, you know, he wants to learn the game inside and out and I think that's the best thing that you can ask if you're Mike
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for me, James, I know what Ohio State is kind of a prestigious thing for someone on a defense to kind of wait at zero, which you all call it a blog zero number.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: Now, kind of tell us what it means to wait at Ohio State, like, how did you kind of get the outcome to get that honor as a player and a teammate?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like, is it a difficult thing to kind of earn in that locker room and what traits does a player have to be trusted with with that responsibility?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so the block-o jurors, he's home on the NCAA allowed college teams to wear number zero.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the zero on our, the way our block numbering is, it looks just like the block-o, you know, for Ohio State.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: And so,
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Coach Day decided hey that's come up with a way to honor Bill Willis.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: So Bill Willis rock 99 is number is retired.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: He played for Paul Brown at Ohio State and he went on to play for Paul Brown with the Cleveland Browns and kind of helped break that color barrier, right?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_00]: So Paul Brown and Bill Willis honoring toughness, integrity, leadership, all the things that you would want anyone to be in a buck eye.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: That goes into someone who is actually nominated to wear the block-o.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: It is not easy.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: It is not even voted on by the team.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: It is voted on by the weight staff after the summer and by the leadership council that selected that Ohio State.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think a lot of people in the building would understand that's the most prestigious thing that you can kind of get in our program from a character integrity.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: leadership standpoint.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like the block out of me is more than a C. It's more than being a captain.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's like you're putting that.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, out there for everyone to see like you're going to be talked about.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, why's you wearing this number zero?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're representing Bill Willis and
- 24:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's a that's a huge responsibility.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's an awesome responsibility.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: And so thankfully the last two years, you know, we had Cody Simon two years ago who rocked it, who was incredible.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then to have sunny where at this year, it was, it was pretty awesome.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_00]: And when you're there is a coach like.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think everyone assumed Sunny was going to get it.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like he made the odds on favor, and he'd have throughout the whole.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: People just got to understood how he carried himself since he's been here as a young kid.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it's, you know, as a coach, which makes you proud because like all you want out of your players is guys who are going to go about it as hard as they can and pull everyone else along with them and do things the right way and really, but not only buy into the culture, but like they pull other people along with the culture.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's what, you know, Sunny provides for any franchise who's a part of.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was really interesting, James, like I think like just even with 2025, you know, ahead.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: sunny slot, like bits and from the slot lined up in the slot off the edge, either Russian or dropping off in pilling off in coverage.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Second level, like I think he's playing, I mean the wall in and I mean just third level coverage coverage concepts and things that I've made sure.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: when you think about or matter of fact let me just add as you can you just like elaborate the how his athleticism but also his ability to cover different areas and even threaten as a blitzer um like how his versatility was able to open up maybe your ideas or creativity where you can use them or maybe even uh uh
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: uh, make the defense a more, um, because I'm, I'm thinking from the aspect of, like, even how a derontae Jones can, like, put him in several different places based on how he was even used in Ohio State, but from his athletic standpoint, like, how was he, and his gifted abilities able to open up the Ohio State's defense and how they can use him?
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, it's, it's funny because because we had our vell,
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, our Vell was mainly our guy in the edge.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then when we would rotate in number 26, who's going to be our starting mic this year, paying peers like Sunny would be the guy to go on the edge and kind of play out in the slot.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then some weeks Matt, you know, Patricia would just be like, hey, who do we want to take away with Sunny's athleticism?
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: Where should we put them?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to put them out and overhand you want to put them behind the box?
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: You want to put them in the boundary?
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was just like, here's a weapon.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I always say like, if we didn't have our Vell, then Sonny's probably playing what our Vell played last year, but we had our Vell, and so like, they were interchangeable on how we could use those two guys, if that makes sense.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: So the fun thing for us was always, you didn't have to hit necessarily every single thing in a meeting room.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: Sonny was smart enough, like a prose pro to where
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you could be walking out onto the field for a stretch of big.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hey, by the way, and this, we're going to play it this way instead of like we did last week.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: He'd be like, okay, cool, and then he wouldn't mess it up, which is very NFL-like.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you have, like, the NFL, you're constantly tweaking stuff week after week after week after week.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: And it's all about, like, okay, what part of my to this overall concept?
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sunny could handle all that.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think because he plays safety, he had a better understanding of combination coverage is and where the strengths and weaknesses were, you know, from that perspective.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: But one of my favorite plays, the tell people, is like, you want to see Sunny rush off the edge, man.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, go back to the cotton ball against Texas when we made the national title run.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he does a slap on the right tackle dips and throws his off side hand and knocks the ball out of Quinn Ewer's and it's a sack fumble.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 27:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he has that ability.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: He has the ability to cover guys.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: man the man he can cover tight ends he can cover back so like he's just a weapon and it's just really like it comes down to what do you want to do with them in your scheme and then even like within drives it could be like hey Sonny this you know this driver the mic and extra of wanting to be the will of the sound like it's not all too big for him it's super easy just to kind of go out there and do it.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_04]: So you know as we focus on the versatility of the mine
- 28:17[SPEAKER_04]: during their tenure at Ohio State, you know, I go back to, you know, when you first came into lead with the Rams, I personally think that lineback position is played a bit differently than how it was during your time.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_04]: Now, fast forward to 2026, like who in the NFL, the studying remind you of, like that you see playing on Sundays.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of people have thrown out
- 28:46[SPEAKER_04]: have you seen somebody else or maybe a hybrid of two current NFL players are even maybe someone from the past could have been yourself in some regard.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's way more athletic than me.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_04]: Luke Keeke Lee, a Patrick Willis, I don't know like what what what what do you think from a Comp perspective NFL old or a current.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: Man, it's so hard like these cops are hard just because like,
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: After being in the league, it's like you don't want to cop on to somebody who's like a NFL all pro and you're like this, you know, Sonny's got to go out there and earn it and he will.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: But like I think the way he moves, you know, like Fred, I can see the Fred Warner comparisons.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, he's just so long.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the thing, like Sonny's 65.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: And so when you see him and he's like I come packed to 245.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like when you see him, you're like, is this dude really 245?
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like he looks even leaner than that.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it's hard to kind of think of it because you're right.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like when I was playing a lot of us, we're just six, two, six, three, six, one.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: This dude's a specimen.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's just, it's hard to really compare.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_00]: But I see the way he moves and it can cover and all those things why people would say Fred.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: But man outside of that, it's hard to kind of, you start going back into my era and I'm gonna say a name and someone's gonna say, oh gosh, you know, Lorna is just comparing the Ray Lewis like no, no, I didn't.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_06]: So.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: So, and you know, I had to see it mean, think of I had to see P Willy play twice a year because we played the Niners and then, you know, young Bobby with the Seahawks.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so there was, there was some dudes man that, you know, you saw over and over and over that you have to tip your cap
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: you know, the evolution of the backer position.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think really like overall in the whole NFL, guys have gotten just way more athletic.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: They have at a young age.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: They understand what it is with training and the positions of all morph.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think what's interesting is that teams and the NFL it seems like are trying to get back to really ground and pound a little more than maybe in the last decade.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like here McVey talking about what the Rams trying to get in more
- 31:03[SPEAKER_00]: All of that, and you know, the Niners for a while have been using a juice check as a lot of that motion around too back, you know, kind of weapon and further the run game.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's getting interesting how this thing is all kind of cycles.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can kind of do it all.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_04]: Another quick question.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_04]: Well, he was because there's not a prototypical like size for a lineback, especially a middle linebacker, but like what in your mind, you know, as a coach, you know, going from being a player to to coach is such a hard transition, you know, especially if you've done it at high level, what in your minds took out like, no, this guy needs to be closer to the line of screenage.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because I just, I saw a dude who was six, five, two, twenty, two, and struggling to stay late trying to eat salads and stuff.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, your dad was a linebacker.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: You're over here thinking you're a safety, ain't no safety.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: So while we just put it like you eat a burger, move your closer to the box and you'll be a first round pick, you know?
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly remember texting less need and just being like, hey, can you send me a list or have somebody in the building send me a list of like 64 plus 80s in the NFL and they're success rate and it's like, you know Kyle Hamilton.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was around in order to aim right after Kyle left.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I understood how lean Kyle was.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Sunny was not lean.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_00]: Sunny has like a muscular build to him where he's like, you know, it's like, you know, it's like
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: You just, I just saw a vision and then I had also in the room, Arvel Reese, who was six, four, and you're trying to figure it out.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, man, you have those two long sons of guns right there and you're playing some real ball.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then I think honestly that the bringing coach P.N.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: and having his scheme and like, right away when he saw those two, he's like, man, that's like having, you know, Jamie Collins and Dante High Tower, you know, like, let's just kind of make some match and so it was kind of cool to like see how that all came about.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I got it.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_03]: My question is more so, because I know Sunny Warded Green Dot at Ohio State.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now, you know, there's some speculation of Washington if he's gonna kind of wear that early on up the gate now.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: For you, how have events for where is Sunny yet from a process and standpoint process and then, oh, just offices and communicate the adjustments?
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: And do you think he can kind of handle that responsibility early in his career?
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be shocked if Sunny's not well.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right, the creep.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_04]: We're losing a little bit.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: That losing.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, what's a black screen?
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: That losing?
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we can hit.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: We don't see it.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_03]: We don't see it.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, well, I go for the, we still got the audio.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the video comes on later.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then we'll also audio.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get us, let's get us in time.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he is able to reconnect.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: What did Jay Tissie say?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_02]: A day ready to get put in the hairline.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: say it says he said that man is sabotaging the connection.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: What's up our money?
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: Jay Tessie.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, interview on currently, or talking with James Laura Knightess, not sure.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: We just given a couple of minutes, maybe the connection does come back.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: If not still grateful for the 20 minutes that we did have the chop it up with former NFL player, but current line
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: uh, James Lord night is, um, yeah.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: So he drops or see if he does come back, um, but, uh, you, you, you asked them to answer to that question.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_03]: I might say you asked them, what is I, because I, I had something I was thinking about and I was asking about the green that and where he was, where processing all fences and if he was ready for that responsibility, I think he was about to give us some good stuff on that.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he said that essentially, I'm with him, no, like, as if I know.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm not, but I understand for somebody to be like pro-ready.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think that the confidence that James has in sunny
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think it's exactly what DQ and company had in them and why they were so high on them.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, like this is somebody who is as pro ready as it can get, but I also want to reiterate too, like,
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: When you hear James talk, and even how I feel about Sunday, I'm super impressed with him, but I also feel like, and what my last question was going to be, was actually about
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: Transitioning to the NFL like I don't think that everything comes out and he and he starts day one like on fire like it's not a surprise moment, but it's also like a damn like I love it like I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm geek that he's starting out week one on fire and he's consistent throughout the season.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm also in this space where it's like, he's only two years in, I don't think it's gonna look bad, but he may not be off to a pipe, a hard start, pipe and hot start to start to season.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think those little abs and flows of becoming a professional linebacker is something where it's like, I was interested to see like how James, even though you would never know if you just look at his stats, but how did James transition to the NFL?
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: like behind the eight ball all on trying to catch up with.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think I think James found that I just text him or whatever so, but I told him.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_02]: That actually makes sense with the black screen.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, if you can, if you can make it back to answer one last question, cool, if not, we appreciate him, but yeah, he might be joining any minute or two whatever the case is, but yeah, I mean, I think it was, it was great questions being asked
- 37:33[SPEAKER_04]: I think one of the benefits that Sunny comes into the situation with is playing under NFL style defense under Matt Patricia, you know Patricia learned defense from Bill Belchett, which you know a lot of people believed to be one of the greatest defensive minds of all time and is the greatest NFL had coach of all time.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I think the versatility, the
- 37:59[SPEAKER_04]: uh, says a lot about him.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_04]: I think what really intrigued me is, you know, what made James say, you know, this guy's 65, 245 was moving down to a lot of scrimmers.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I think that is a really, like pivot, pivotable, pivotal moment of Sunday's career in his trajectory, because he could
- 38:28[SPEAKER_04]: got drafted late round whatever case or blow up from the combine.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but to move down to the line of scrimmage in and be able to adapt and play that position and go south of raw, that just speaks volumes of James knowledge of the game and coaching and and teaching and then also still utilizing relationships and said he restarted the lesson.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_04]: You know, that was that was the person that brought him into the ranch back in the day when we were in St. Louis.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_04]: So that just shows you how well connected still these guys are with a lot of NFL franchises executive office and and head coaches.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he brought up Dan Quinn.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_04]: He did a visit with Dan Quinn when he was considerate sign of what Atlanta Falcons back in the day.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_04]: So
- 39:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think we, we got a lot of tidbits, you know, from what you asked more and and Drake, uh, as always, I think we asked some of the bad questions people do in a lot of our interviews in general, that you not really go here anywhere else.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_04]: And I think we learn a lot about sunny, uh, from the interview that we did with James, if he does it, if he doesn't end up returning back.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: I promote this damn, we want to promote the shit out of this one.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good question, man, if I, if I, I don't really talk, talk a lot of patting on the back shit, but talk our shit for a second, man.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we did a good fucking job.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_03]: No, and I was just going to say, um, you know, I thought James just did a good job and just, you know, you could tell he loves sunny.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously, the fact that a standout line back of like James was at Ohio State because I remember James at Ohio State.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_03]: He was a beast at Ohio State.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: And he probably sings sunny at the safety spot.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like, give me that weapon.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I can use a weapon like that in my lab.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_03]: Pack a room bed.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, hey, he was right, man.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: He got this guy drafted top 10.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_03]: And James is probably going to be moving up pretty soon in Ohio State Culture, right, to maybe he'll be a defensive coordinator or something soon.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_03]: Because, you know, to make that kind of suggestion before the workout, the way it did the last two years, I mean, you got to give James some credit.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just hearing about Sunny.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: It just makes me appreciate the pick even more.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, just from everything James talks about even my block, oh question, like James with the detail about what it means to be a block.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, God, Ohio state.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's not it.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's not one.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's not one.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: That's not one.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: You know how serious you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like, you're like
- 41:16[SPEAKER_03]: played there, and then he's back there coaching.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_03]: It means something to them.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_03]: So just the hear them talk about what that block, oh number means in Ohio State for sunny to earn that honor.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's a big deal.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: That shows that you know you have to have some kind of integrity in it.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_03]: And you have to have some kind of passion to some kind of leadership ability where guys follow you.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_03]: And you know for them to give him that honor and he didn't like James said that honor doesn't come from one place It doesn't come from your teammates.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: It comes from everybody involved with the program and he says Sunny was the favorite to get it and Sunny ended up getting it.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_03]: So I mean that and that's with a bunch of those guys like a Caleb Downs or our bill a reason that defense Sunny earned that that honor.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_03]: So that gives me some kind of help going into you know
- 42:00[SPEAKER_03]: his career, his tenure with the Washington Commanders, that he's going to be a guy that guys gravitate to.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be the guy you kind of proud to show that he's leading this defense, like especially when you talk about the Mike, the quarterback, the green dot of the defense.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's what you want to hear.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_03]: Like I want to hear everything James just said, that's why I kind of wish I've heard a little bit more of him going into the in-depth about my question about the green dot.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_03]: I want to hear, you know, his thoughts on it.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: A but I'm on a good point see it like we don't need to get him back on a show see if you if he can record his like recorded video And because we could put that we could put that on the Creedy I'm sure it out of that.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's the wait on his phone man to come back on
- 42:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I'm saying I'm saying text them like, yeah, just text them.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, we can just record that zone and then shit, that we'd be good with that.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: We'd be able to know the fans a little bit.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, we'll figure it out, man.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_04]: James has definitely been a great communicator and, you know, coming on the show and everything our conversation has been good.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_04]: I was trying to get him on last week, but he was traveling.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, just someone that who knows.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Ohio State is a, is a hot bed of talent.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_04]: Like, we could be having another conversation with him about another future draft prospect next year.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he's just really never know without everything is going over there.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, I love the conversation, I love the insight.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think Dre, you even mentioned, because he co-set Nordic Dane prior.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_04]: So he's saying Kyle Hamilton.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_04]: So, you know, he's seen how versatile, Marcus Freeman and the rest of those guys use Kyle Hamilton as a rover.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_04]: I really want to see the clip that he was like, referencing in the cotton bowl, I guess, Quinn Yures when he said, sending was used as a password shirt, and just the way that he came across the, what he came, he been the corner and strip sack or whatever cases, I gotta see that playback.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_04]: But, you know, I think that was the whole point of this conversation with James, man, was to get more insight from the guy.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_04]: who helped him transition from safety too long back.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you a question, AJ.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not, it's not to see if you change your opinion, but did it open like this for the conversation with James, like, broaden your perspective.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: Perspective is, I don't know if that's the right word.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_02]: Did it broaden like, are you fucking serious?
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's a spider.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yay, oh no, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
- 44:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly what you just seen.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's great to attack them for us.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: Let's wait for more.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: I got to stop this whole trip up.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_04]: No, can't.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_04]: Bro.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_04]: What you doing?
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: I was just showing my.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: I can't get.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: I can't reach it.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_02]: But did it.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: Did it.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: Did it.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_02]: Did his responses in conversation.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: I ain't about to see her as if it changed your opinion because that's going to be a waste of my time as you did.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even going to worry about that.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think, broaden your perspective and be like, all right, let me look for these because he's he's seeing some things that maybe I didn't see initially.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I think what it did for me was helping me learn who Sunny is on and off the show.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_04]: That's not what you mean.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he's spoke about Sunny not only just showing up for his own charitable efforts, but also this teammates' efforts
- 45:32[SPEAKER_04]: how he was able to communicate during the games as being the mic and getting guys lined up and making those adjustments on the fly.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_04]: So it helped me understand his role within that defensive bit more, even though he played alongside you know, other highly talented guys that got drafted from McDonald's to Downs and Harville Reese.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: So that's one thing that the conversation helped me
- 45:59[SPEAKER_04]: understand a bit more something that I got to go back and look at is the game against Texas when it was making that national championship win.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_04]: And he talked about the the past rush.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_04]: You know, because we we speak about versatility a lot and a lot of times when we focus on any styles we talk about coverage and, you know, just playing regular linebacker, but we don't
- 46:27[SPEAKER_04]: and covering off the edge.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_04]: That's not something that we talk about too much.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_04]: But I think that's something that's coming.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think that's something that could be utilized within this defensive scheme and using him as a chess piece, that's something that James Sussan quite often, he was a versatile chess piece.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, that's what I took from it.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I still had my same view on him.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_04]: But at the end of the day,
- 46:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yeah, it's not just going to change because, yeah, I mean, I appreciate it, but it's like I appreciate the the conversation.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_04]: I still just want to see it on the field.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_04]: Like I just also want to just see the defense in general, like I want to see how guys are utilized.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see how he plays alongside a Leo Chanel.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_04]: I plays alongside the rest of the guys on, you know, the front floor.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: and that's kind of where like the nature of the the versatility part came in because you're talking about the do rushing bread and do this blitz in from who's the the Miami freshman I keep thinking it could be very salty but it's not how the cat told you
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: Malikautoni and that's what that's returning.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Cadirious Tony.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Malikautoni.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, he's lined up over top of Malikautoni, but in the slide and in on Goldberg on Goldberg, he holds as from the slide position to like, I don't think you got credit for it.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I only because Carson Beck stepped up and became a no game.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: But like, he's lined up in the slot brand.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_02]: Halls as across the edge, brother, beast the tackle, beast the running back.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was running back over there.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: And shoe-strain tackles Carson Beck.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: And becomes a no gain.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'm like, this shit that shot it with him because it's athleticism, brother.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: And, and what makes it work is because like somebody who's as smart as him, you got hold your water if you're out there.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you can't show your hand.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't move at, oh, anything like, oh, go, he's just, he took off.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think like that versatility part like being able to see where derontate can use him.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be interesting, bro.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be really interesting.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think
- 48:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking back to the question about Stefan and Brandon and you, but then I'm like, I saw something today about Stefan and Trayvon at something getting interviewed.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_04]: It was a mother's day.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: Also that was there.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_04]: It was their foundation stuff, so like it's two weeks ago.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I guess it was two weeks ago.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, every surface.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm over here thinking like I was I was where I was getting that was like I think they're set defensively but like I wonder like what that meant in that interview where they're saying, you know, we'll see but funny enough knowing that it's two weeks old like I think we have seen so far.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_02]: I give it at least like a 40% chance that they don't move on anybody.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_02]: like, offensively, excuse me, defensively, I do think they said, but I think it's like a 40% chance that they don't move anybody like they're they're they're they're good with with the way things are right now.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, but I think that they sometimes, man, they they make them, they made it the last two years.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_03]: And so, so, I'm still not worried about the June 1st cuts.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's gonna be June 1st, people will get cut.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_03]: And then you then also OTA start.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: Next week.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_04]: Next week.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_04]: Next week.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_03]: May 27.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you may, you may not have urgency to sign a guy at the start of OTAs, but I do think if something's going to happen.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_03]: That's going to happen within the next two or three weeks, because OTAs run off with June.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_03]: And you probably want whoever you're going to be having in this program to be kind of already in those OTAs.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_04]: So I do think if we're going to see any more business going to be within the next two weeks and then you had those June first cuts.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, because of, if I'm saying this last, like, uh, his last one was there.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_04]: Um, he said that he feels confident that they will add a wide receiver into the mix is just not sure when because are they with no, are you or could it be someone else?
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: I better they should.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that they should, I, I think it'd be
- 51:22[SPEAKER_04]: you know, to acquire another name as Kenan Allen.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_04]: He's still out there as well.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like, there's still why we see this out there that can bring a bit more.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_04]: I think some veteran guys, even Debo's still out there, you know, just to throw another name, I'm not saying that's what's gonna happen.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: But I think some guys are waiting for proper opportunities to see where they fit.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_04]: And a lot of teams are gonna learn especially what we had.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_04]: eight or nine teams hire new coaches they're going to learn a lot about their roster with OTA's happening this week for those new head coaches and then next week for coaches that are returning or whatever I think we'll see some additions having before many can with this team and I I do think I do think that both big brothers are real realistic options like
- 52:15[SPEAKER_04]: It's just like relationships.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_04]: Everything is based off relationships.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_04]: And especially for Tray Vine, played under Dan Quinn and he brings something to the table that they can utilize.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_03]: Does Tray Vine start date or date one for you, agent, if he's a corner back on the team?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_04]: If he signs an obtain.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, at least week one I'll say, that day will week one, the Stray Vine start for you.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't really, I don't really know.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like if we talk about, if you talk about some different that I respect me too, I don't watch a lot of treatment last year.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_04]: Of course, I know it's situation and you know, get a release from Dallas, which was, which was pretty much going to happen no matter what, because they waived his, they waived his workout bonus.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_04]: So something was going to shake with that.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_04]: You know, if he, if he could return to 75% of what he used to be, yeah, he could start.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you think about the day, the covers is that they play.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_04]: They are favorable for a guy that likes to keep his eyes in the, in the back.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_04]: like if they can force the quarterback to get the ball as quick as the scheme is predicated to do, you can flip the food.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that's the strongest suit.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not, I'm not looking for any of this shut down.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm surprised that in your answer, more so than you being a fan or like and trigger on digs, more so than I know that you're not a fan of Mikey Sanford still.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_03]: And that's kind of why I asked that question.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_03]: to see if you think he comes in and starts over like a Mikey Sam, or something.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm not even adding a meek Robasip because I think a meek Robasip's probably a date one started just like quarterback.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_03]: The question is when is Mikey fit right now he's calling it back to.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_03]: And if you sign to trade my digs, I mean, he's probably in that mix somewhere and that's why I actually would question.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't think Mikey is a corner back too, because we just went based on the money.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_03]: Off the run to the water is right now.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_04]: A meet could play outside as well.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_04]: He played a lot outside of Detroit and he signed a three year deal.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_04]: So we really, we really don't know what's the toss of and that was another aspect that came up in the John Con.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_04]: interview Greg Cousel was like, he don't really know what they're going to do with what they're going to do with him.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_03]: So I just feel like who is CB to?
- 54:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's the question.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, who's who's who's really CB one like is that you follow the same goes.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, by default, but like we just stand by default, but I mean, my reality, if you asked him about trade on the one thing I love from a corner back
- 54:56[SPEAKER_04]: I know that he's not going to be stopping nobody because even in the year he had what 11 interceptions.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_04]: He gave up a thousand yards, but then able to flip the flip the field and getting the office more chances of score is a huge thing especially when this team has not been able to create turnovers in the last two years.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_04]: The only person has been able to get interceptions on the defense side has been like you.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_04]: But it hasn't necessarily like look the same in some regard or then ask a sister.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_04]: But that's the one trait that Trayvon carries from being a former wife's ear.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_04]: His ball skills are exactly anything else outside of that.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not looking for that man to tackle.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_04]: Not looking for that man to shut nobody down.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_04]: Just looking for that man to peek in the back.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to pick up the ball.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: When you got time for all these times, man, you're going to do this.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you better go ahead and back up the manual for us and fucking LA if you're going to do what
- 55:57[SPEAKER_02]: Um, alright.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_02]: Good show.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_02]: Listen, schedule wise.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_02]: All 32 is out tomorrow.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_02]: We are back tomorrow.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_02]: Um, there are no shows next week.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_02]: Telling that right now your boy is going to be drunk on vacation.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: Alright.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_03]: That those two will be gone y'all, but if y'all want any entertainment y'all can come to me and y'all can want to be argued with people about AJ the best of us is there in Peter so I'm a little Brazil and we might need to do a cell on the beach in Cargina next week No, and he has some guest features.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you're feeling unfair.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's, that's what, that's what, that's what, that's what, that's what, that close friends on IG Which I'm not a part of about a way
- 56:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I, I, I, I'm talking to you.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_04]: You, you, you, you, you're my close friends.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I really, I ain't gonna be posting no crazy shit in my close friend.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of ladies and gentlemen.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how to, I don't even know what to put who to put in my close friends.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know like what it should consist of.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't have a close friends.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_02]: I began adding like, I ain't, I ain't mad at it.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_04]: But it's like, some people, I'll be like, oh, you have, you
- 57:23[SPEAKER_04]: close friends on a weekend and they're doing the most risk-a-thing that capacity be on the platform.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm bored.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just saying some why I didn't be added to some crazy close friends.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like why am I here but hey.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_02]: I said hey, sometimes like as people that I just followed or we just followed, I'm like
- 57:48[SPEAKER_02]: or like or like we follow each other for a long time and then like we don't enter in and write that much and write some times but then damn I'm on the close friends I'm like okay the close friends be different though it's a whole different world it's like man it's like dealing with a passenger right well I'll take the bait I'll take the bait most times
- 58:15[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't, I don't say no, but I've just seen all type of stuff.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_04]: But it's like the public pays, they'd be moving like a, like a minister and all those things.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_04]: And then the coast friends, they'd be a drug dealer.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_04]: Like, like, they'd be a stripper and some is just crazy.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_04]: Like the dynamics.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, man, but I'm looking forward to this vacation bread.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_04]: Like, uh, I packed Sunday and we don't even see it.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_04]: Thursday morning.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: I started coming back tonight.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_04]: I got all my airs, give my hair, retwist of the mall, all that.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_04]: I'm ready to go, bro.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_04]: Like I got a couple of days line up.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_04]: Matter of fact, uh, mall, do you both?
- 58:57[SPEAKER_02]: Of course I both.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, they got me, they're all a 200.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_04]: All right, that's cool.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_04]: I ain't bowling the win.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_04]: So at the end of the day, uh, they got a nice,
- 59:06[SPEAKER_04]: They got a nice bowling alley out there called Super Bowl and maybe he had that job.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a big ass, uh, like a nice bowling and then it's like, it's like a whole bunch of other stuff.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I don't know how to describe it.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_02]: I just seen it.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a bunch of stuff.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's cool with me, bro.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_02]: I bought a way out of the car.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_04]: Man, I was, I was, I was this was a traffic dial vacation, man.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_04]: So we got a, we got.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_04]: Man, we got to, we got to lock in this Arizona stuff, bro.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, I was with whatever the average, I saw the air being bees.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_03]: I'm already locked in for Arizona, which I saw them.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I was trying to do Jay Tyler since he said, I missed the clip of the Queen Ures sat in the James Lair, not as soon as about.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_04]: Please tag me on the X.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'll say in a new handy drinks.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, today was the first person I showed to me.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, like, what's up?
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, Nick, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me,
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: All right, hey, that's it for us again all 32 tomorrow We're all next week in its entirety.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Thursday Depending on what type of news come back.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's when we all situated I'll be back as well.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe next Thursday We'll keep that we'll keep that block open Until next time.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take it easy.
